Will iPad support Appeture

Hi, I was about to buy a Mac Air primarily to download and save my photographs when on holiday as I fear keeping several full compact flash cards in my bag. I see that iPad allows storage of photos but not sure if it is done within iPhoto. As I use Appeture on my Mac it would be good to be able to store and manipulate my raw files on iPad if it supports Appeture?

The issue you raised was easy recovery of the data. Your point is well taken that if there was a device failure, it would probably be hard to get data off of it since it appears to be chips on the motherboard. However, since we know that it's solid state, and some have observed from the teardown reveals more epoxy used than on the laptops, the iPad appears to be built for ruggedness. This would imply that the risk of failure is lower - far lower - than on non-SSD laptops and desktops, meaning the concern about getting data out of main storage is just not that big a deal really.

This is a user-to-user forum. No one here is privy to Apple's development roadmap. The iPad 1 runs everything current. Eventually, like every piece of hardware, it will be too old to support current software. No one here knows when that is, though.

Does Safari on iPad support SNI (Server Name Indication)

I am testing name-based virtual host with apache 2.2 over SSL and noticed that this is only supported using SNI (server name indication). I have updated openSSL to include the SNI extensions on the apache but the client browser is also required to support this. I wanted to know if there is any indication as to when SNI will be supported by the Safari browser on iPad and/or if anyone else has experienced this issue.
I know of 1 additional work around is to use wildcard certs but I am not to keen on using those unless I really have to.
I verified that this is not support by hitting the site: https://sni.volex.ch from the iPad safari browser - it fails. However, using Opera on iPad worked.

From what I understand SNI is largely reliant on client support. It is just an extension of the TLS SSL protocol. One of our Escalation Engineers wrote up a pretty good post explaining SNI.

A few questions I would have is what client and browser combination have you attempted on this? Also, are you using a wildcard certificate on your Web Listener? Have you taken network traces to see if client is sending SNI? Ian does a good job of explaining
how to do that in his blog post.

As has been said here many times now, Adobe has ceased development on all versions of their mobile Flash player, and since the chances are vanishingly small that Apple will ever develop their own, iOS devices will probably never natively support Flash content or apps. If Flash capability is criticial to your needs, you'll probably want to choose another device, though even Android and Windows phone and tablet devices are less and less capable of Flash support.

Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
    •    Launch Settings app

    •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

Keep getting "loading/waiting" message when I try to download or update anything on my iPad. I have tried signing out and in. Turning iPad off and on, left it off overnight, and spoken with iPad support, nothing. Any help out there?

If there are multiple apps trying to download at once, only one can download at a time and the rest say "Waiting" until it is then their turn. Try this. Double tap the icon of the Waiting app, and it should resume the download.
If that doesn't work:
• Log out of your iTunes store account. Go to Settings > Store > Sign Out Then press the Home button.
• Then press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously and don't release them when it brings up the Turn Off screen; keep holding them until the Apple logo appears.
• After restart, the Waiting should be gone.

When will Apple Support Ultraviolet Digital Copies?

This is something of a cross post for iPad & iPhone, but I won't be cross posting it as they can be a bit annoying.
I'm a huge fan of digital copies, wasn't once, but now am. Having digital copies is something that does factor into me deciding when to buy a film on Blu-Ray and when to wait.
The new thing that is being pushed now is Ultraviolet, a quasi-cloud type service, for digital copies. However it can only be used by a select few devices; Mac (and even Windows) don't support it. Personally I prefer the standard digital copy, I maintain my library, back it up when I make new purchases and save my recipets in case anything happens. And of course a big reason I prefer it is because I won't be hopping between two services for them.
My question is when will Apple support Ultraviolet Digital Copies? Or will there be an alternative where the Blu-Ray will include a code for a traditional digital copy that if used will void the UV copy and vice-versa?
I would personally prefer an alternative as I'd hate managing two accounts to handle my digital copies.

TMS Scheduler iPad support

We have TMS and TMSXE up and running and when ever we book a resource (SX20) it will show the scheduled conference on TV that SX20 is hooked up to.
Basically it just shows time and date for when this resource will be used and the duration. I wanted to know is there any kind of iPad support for this so I can have this same thing show up on iPad?

Nothing that I know of. You can use a Touch 8 or Touch 10 and have it appear on that, but that would be linked to the codec in the room, not a mobile solution though. They could open the Smart Scheduler in TMS, which is mobile friendly, though that will show all conferences the user has scheduled and they would have to go into the specific conference to see the details.

Well, any mobile computing device you buy is technically obsolete within a year or less of being released - for any company's products that's true. And with all of these all-solid state devices, you cannot update the RAM or the storage, so they basically remain useable and supported as long as they do - there really is nothing you can do to avoid that sort of situation. Smart phones and tablets are evovling at an almost frenetic pace, so nothing in that arena is going to be compatible with the operating systems and apps of newer future devices for very long.

And as far as iOS devices, I don't agree that Apple only installs the minimum RAM. The amount of RAM is going to be based on a number of factors - the capability of the mobile cpu being used, the footprint of iOS and the built in functions, the typical RAM usage of known iOS 3rd party apps, the size of battery(s) available to fit in the space available, the added cost of additional RAM and any number of additional parameters. In a device like a tablet or smart phone, every single component that goes into them involves some trade off or compromise.
