I would like to know if my iphone 4 (IOS 7) will still work as a hot spot if I update my ipad Air to IOS 8. And will they still communicate being on different IOS?
I'm not able to upgrade my iphone until January of next year. Just wondering if I need to hold off on upgrading the IOS on my ipad.

I tried it too. I can turn on my hotspot and other hardwares can also find it, but when I try to connect, it doesn't work. I tried to connect to the hotspot another iPhone 4, a MacBook and a Windows PC, but the hotspot doesn't work with no one of these. I don't know what to do...

Hi,
I used to have access to internet with my iPhone 4 hotspot, but since upgraded to IOS 7 it won't work anymore. I can not have access to iPhone either Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.
I will need to do somthing to configure iPhone 4?

I was having this problem (iphone 5 wouldn't work as hotspot for my PC laptop) and had tried everything suggested on these message boards, so I finally went to the Apple Genius Bar and they fixed it for me. Here's what they did:
1) Turned the Hotspot off on my iphone
2) Went to the Control Panel on my laptop to "Network and Internet" > "Network and Sharing Center" > "Manage Wireless Networks" (on the left navigation panel) and deleted my iphone from the list of WiFi connections I've attempted.
3) Flipped the manual WiFi switch on my laptop to Off and then back On again (to reset it)
4) Turned the Hotspot on my iphone back on
After that, when I tried to connect, it worked. Hope this works for someone else.

QuickTime 7 iPhone preset doesn't work with iOS 7

Using the QuickTime Pro iPhone export preset doesn't seem to create movies that can be played in iOS 7. When clicked on, you get the "no" play symbol. The same movies can be played on an iPhone with iOS 6.
Any workarounds out there?

iPhone 4 stopped working with ios 6.1, visited apple first time, restored phone and worked, less than 24 hours later stopped working again, back to the store, I told iPhone is out of warranty and they'll replace for $150. iPhone worked fine with previous version, no problem at all. Asked to restore to the previous software version, told can't be done. Why should I pay for a damage caused by a software update. Tec claims that ios 6.1 will not work with my phone because it discovered some hardware malfunction, possible the home button. They can't repair. suggested to go to a third party. I'm a satisfied Apple product user for many years. What happened? Any welp out there?

I have done so like 10 times on my MAC and then I used my husband's PC and tried it 4 times.. No success.. That will only make it possibe to go backward.. You will end up back with the IOS 5, but at least you will have a working phone and it will bring back all your contacts and everything else that you ever had backed up on icloud and on your computer. There might be descripencies with the Applications but again this is an issue easily solved, you can always download them back.
Two more things: One, you do not have to download the old version of the itunes, the newest version worked for me without any issues
When choosing to download the older IOS 5.1.1, you will need to figure out whether your carrier is GSM or CDMA but you can easily google this info online..

IMac 10.6.8 will not recognize iPhone v.4.12.09 with iOS 7.1.1

I cannot get photos from my iPhone version 4.12.09 with iOS 7.1.1 to appear on the desktop of my iMac running 10.6.8.
It will not open iPhoto nor will preview recognize the iPhone as being connected. No way to get newly taken photos to iPhoto.

Have you just tried opening iPhoto manually to see if your iPhone will show up that way?
Have you tried shutting down your Mac and doing a PRAM reset?
