Will iPhoto '09 (8.1.2) allow me to resize image files to 60 kb?

I'm sorry if this is a very simple task but I've searched and cannot find an answer.  I need to be able to upload some photos to the Gardenweb site and they say that the maximum size of image files allows is 60 kb.  I searched my iPhoto help and could find nothing about resizing photos for uploading to websites - I also did a Google search but the only program that is suggested for this is called Irfanview and only works with Windows.
I would be very grateful if someone can point me to how I can do this with iPhoto or, alternatively, another program that I could download that would allow me to resize my images.
Cheers

Hi Terence ... As I'd already exported the jpeg to my Desktop I decided to try with another image from iPhoto.
I selected the image in iPhoto then went to File - Export and on the ensuiung 'File Export' tab chose JPEG, quality LOW: Size CUSTOM and then set Maximum dimension to 500 px.  I then exported the image to my Desktop and Get Info shows that the file size is 16 KB on disk.  I repeated the exercise changing the quality to MEDIUM but left everything else the same.  This resulted in a file size of 29 KB on disk.  I repeated the exercise again, changing the quality to HIGH.  This resulted in a file size of 45KB on disk.  Finally, I repeated the exercise changing the quality to MAXIMUM, which resulted in a file size of 168 KB on disk.  So, I now know that I can export my images from iPhoto and, following your advice, set the maximum dimension of the image to 500 px and, even using High quality for the JPEG I will get a file size that is well within the maximum file size permitted by the website.
I don't know whether it's relevant but the original image was 3.3MB.
Thank you so much for your help!  I was beginning to feel extremely dumb not being able to figure this one out.

  • IPhoto issues after 10.5 install, thumbnails but no image files

After installing Leopard I have found that random photos from different events in iPhoto 7.1.1 have completely disappeared. OK, not completely -- the thumbnail images remain but the image file is completely gone. Vanished, it would appear, from my hard drive. A spotlight search reveals nothing. I am finding more and more missing as I go about my business. I click on an image to edit or use in iWeb and I get a gray exclamation point.
I don't think that I have synched my iPod video since upgrading to Leopard so perhaps there is hope of recovery? Anyone know what is going on?

  • Will Standard Edition of Adobe Acrobat allow password protection for PDF files or do I need to purchase Acrobat Pro?

  • IPhoto 6.0.6 importing distorted/striped/damaged/unrecognizable image files

I have been having trouble importing photos from my camera into iPhoto for a while. Thought it may have been my old Canon PowerShot A80, but I just bought a brand new Canon Rebel XSi and I am having the same issues.
Whether I use the USB cable directly from the camera into my tower's USB port (have tried each available port) or I insert the card into the SD slot in my Epson WorkForce 600 printer, the results are the same: some images import correctly, some import severely segmented/distorted or striped with crazy technicolors, and some wont import at all and I get a popup that tells me some files were of "unrecognized file type or damaged files" with a list of the files that say temp/var file. What is going on here??? Help!
PS The same issues also occur when importing with the EOS utility instead of iPhoto.

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
Are you shooting Raw or Jpeg? For Raw support on that camera you need 10.5.4 or better.
You might want to look closely at the camera if the problem is also occurring with Canon's own software.

From the iPod's Main Menu choose Videos -> Settings and make sure TV Out is set to Off.
Otherwise, try a hard reset as well.  To do this, press and hold both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.

will the full version of adobe allow you to review and scroll 2 documents at the same time?

Sorry, I do not understand what you mean by "the full version of adobe".  Do you mean Acrobat?
I am also not clear what you mean by "review and scroll 2 documents at the same time"; please clarify.  Adobe Reader (and Acrobat) lets you open as many documents as you want, but if you press Page Down/Page Up on one document, it will not perform that action on the other documents at the same time.

  • Photo will not upload my pictures from the same camera that always worked in IPhoto.  Says "could not be imported (may be unrecognized file type or files may not contain valid data).  So how do I do it?

Photo will not upload new photos from same camera that always worked in IPhoto.  Says "could not be uploaded )may be unrecognized file type or files may not contain valid data).  Help!

Try image capture or a card reader - after the photos are safely on your Mac then use the camera's format command to reformat the memory card

  • Will iPhoto 9 work under OS 10.9 on new iMac ?

    SEE HERE:  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3876?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
My friend wants to buy a new 27" iMac with 10.9, but to use only iPhoto 9 because of some silly problems with other iLife versions.
Will iPhoto 9 work fine under OS 10.9  ?   If not, which malfunctions or defects occur ?

    Yes.

  • Merging events in iPhoto with pictures named the same in each event? Will I lose the photo or will iPhoto rename the duplicate names?

I am trying to merge 2 events in iPhoto, but i notice that in the first event my photos are named by my camera as DSC_001, DSC_002, etc.  But the same is true of the photos in the second event DSC_001, DSC_002, etc.  If I merge these 2 events will I lose pictures that have the same photo/file name? Or will iPhoto change the name of DSC_001 from the second event when it merges event 1 & event 2?  I am hesitant, I don't want to lose half of my pictures.

With iPhoto 9 and later when merging events the files stay in their original folder inside the library so there's no problem with files with the same file name.  It's when you export same named files to the same folder on the hard drive that you may run into a problem.

  • Will iphoto 08 make sense of my dormant photo library?

In late 2004 I purchased a Powerbook G4 and used the preinstalled iphoto to manage my photo content. After a few years, I switched to PC but copied the iphoto library folder to an external drive. While using a PC I loaded the iphoto content into a crappy library software and found that my ~2000 photos were now numbering more than 4000 (presumably because it loaded many duplicate photos because of the way the early iphoto stored pictures i.e. in many separate folders like "Data" "Originals" and "Thumbnails")
Fast forward to now. I have a new Macbook Pro that I'm itching to load up. Will iphoto 08 make sense of my still unmolested iphoto library from the 2004 version? Or will I end up with thousands of thumbnails and duplicates in my library?

Yes - but do not import it - drag the old (2004) library to the pictures folder of your new MBP (drag the iPhoto library that may already be there to the desktop first) and launch iPhoto - it will convert (NOT import) the library and you will be good to go

  • Will iPhoto 9.3 run on Snow Leopard 10.6.8?

Will iPhoto 9.3 run on Snow Leopard 10.6.8? The App store on one of my 2 computers (both with iPhoto v.9.2.3 and both running 10.6.8) says an iPhoto update (9.3) is available, but when I check at the App store it says the min. requirement is 10.7.4. On my MacBook Pro offering the App store update, I bought iPhoto 11 originally from the App store. On my iMac, which is newer, iPhoto 11 (which is version 9) came with the computer and I have always got iPhoto updates through Software Update, but Software Update is not offering me an iPhoto update on that computer. So I am thinking that the App store notice on the MacBook Pro may not be accurate.

No  --  it requires the latest version of Lion - 10.7.4 as the App store tells you

  • Will iPhoto '09 work with Lion?

Will iPhoto '09 work with Lion? Since I upgraded to Lion when I open a Facebook album in iPhoto I get the message "An error occurred with the publication of (album name)". The album was submitted successfully long ago. One of a few new quirks since the upgrade.

Crap. I think I might be out of luck. I'm trying to put it on a 2011 Mac Mini. And the new iPhoto is such crap by comparison.
I wonder if they dumbed it down so people would buy Aperture.

  • HT4106 Will the camera kit allow you to view images from a usb flash drive?

Will the camera kit allow you to view images from a usb flash drive?

You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive (works the same with an SD card) into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

Nikon say that you need 10.6.5+ for the latest firmware, although I don't see why.
Thanks for that! I was looking for that manual, but for some reason, couldn't find it.
I guess I'll have to contact Nikon and find out what the real story is. The camera was introduced in '08 or '09, so I'm wondering why you'd need software as recent as 10.6.5??
    Still very confusing.  :-?
Why does it state that the camera is compatible with "10.4.11, 10.5.8..."? Does that mean that anything between 4.11 and 5.8 is incompatible???
BTW, I tried downloading the 10.5.8 combo update recently and got an error message that the update was "corrupted" after it was all downloaded, so I was not able to install that.
