Will iPlanet WebServer-Enterprise Edition work with Solaris 8?

I think you should apply the latest service pack, iPlanet Web Server 6.0 SP9, and the latest Solaris 8 recommended patch cluster.

If for some reason you can't apply these updates, you can eliminate the error messages by disabling Web Server's statistics collection functionality. To do this, comment out any lines in the magnus.conf configuration file that mention perf-init or stats-init. For example, you would change the following line:Init fn="stats-init" profiling="on"To comment it out, add a # at the beginning of the line:#Init fn="stats-init" profiling="on"

I want to upgrade iPlanet Web Server 6.0 with JDK/jre 6.0. currently iPlanet Web Server 6.0 is refferring to JDK1.5.0_17 in our lab. I see following error in logs.Any ideas which state is this upgrade is valid or a resolution for the below error would be great.
I tried increasing stack size(StackSize 7168000 in magnus.conf),increasing Sun os filedescriptors and stacksize,jvm.minHeapSize=8388608 and jvm.maxHeapSize=33554432( in jvm12.conf)

curretnly i see from logs we have servicepack 6 for iplanet6.0 in my box. If i upgrade with new servicepack can i use JDK1.6? because i don't see that kind of statement with even in any of the documents.The documents only talk upto 1.4.2
secondly upgrading to newer version,I think for this we need to take new licences and is there will be a cost factor for 7.0 upgrade.Because i see the free download is only for 60 day evaluation. For upgradation i need to talk to my management for getting approval i need to atleast show them we cannot do it with the existing 6.0 server with SP6.
I use the default value intially,and i was getting the StackOverFlow error.Some sites suggested in increasing the stacksize value for remedy to StackOverFlow error.So i increased it in an increments of 1MB. And thought this would be the peak value and stopped over there.

Iplanet 6.0SP9 to work with Alias

Hello,
I'm trying to get iPlanet 6.0 to work with header or host alias. Current the site will work fine when I go www.myname.com but my user base from a legacy system got in the habit of using http://myname to get to the site. Is there way to get the web server to run using the full name and the http://myname?

You don't need to do anything special to get iPlanet Web Server 6.0 to respond to requests for different hostnames.
What happens when you try to access http://myname now? Is it possible you simply haven't configured DNS for myname, or that myname points to a different IP address than www.myname.com?

How can I get oracle 9.2.0.7 Enterprise edition Database for Solaris?

Hi, everybody,
Reccently got involved in a project that require to setup Oracle 9.2.0.7 Enterprise edition Database for Solaris. However from oracle's download page, the only sun platform version for 9i is 9.2.0.1. so to get to 9.2.0.7, do i need to download upgrade patch somewhere? Did anyone go through similar setup before and could you share with me your advice?

Oracle produces media distribution for major releases only, not for patched versions (there has been only a few exceptions). A major release can be determined out from the first three digits, 9.2.0.
Available versions at otn and edelivery are just major versions, the requiered version 9.2.0.X.X is avalable only through patchsets.
By the way only a patchset changes the last two digits, if you require a specific individual patch it doesn't change these last two digits and a specific installation procedure is provided.
Last available patchset for 9iRel2 is 9.2.0.8.0

I've never used an iPod, but don't they charge through their docks?
I doubt if it would work- very few Mac products are designed to be compatible with PC devices.

I have always used the apple TV remote for my presentations. I bought a retina display last year for the betterment of my presentations and now I have to stand near my computer and hit a button to change my slides where as before I used my remote. Yes, I used that and it works great if you have wireless connection. Im looking for a remote that worked like the apple TV remote. My questions is, "Is there a USB infra-red remote that works with mac. I have found this one: Keyspan EZ1 easy presenter. It claims with works with PC and Mac and the reviews are good. Will DM v4.2.2 work with a new BB Storm?

I have been trying -- and failing -- for two weeks now to "fix" Desktop Manager v4.7 so that it will sync with my new Storm. One error after another. I've tried every single "solution" I could find on BlackBerry.com and CrackBerry.com and absolutely nothing works. DM v4.7 simply will not permit me to CONFIGURE synchronization, let alone actually synchronize a thing. With no contacts or calendar on the Storm, it's worth less than a bad cell phone.
I'm running on XP Pro SP3, Office 2003. Several folks have reported that downgrading to DM v4.2.2 has solved a lot problems they've had with v4.7. My question is simple: will DM v4.2.2 work with a new Storm or am I just destined for another failure experience if I go to the time and trouble of clean un-installing v4.7 (yet again!?!?!) and downloading/installing v4.2.2? If v4.2.2 won't work, is there ANY other version of DM that will work with a Storm or is v4.7 the only show in town? (If it is, the show just closed. iPhone, here I come.)
