Will ipod Shuffle work on mac os 9.2x?

Question: Will the iPod shuffle work on my clamshell I know about the requirements but sometimes you can use mac os X programs and software on os 9.2 I just need an answer soon before Ibuy the shuffle!
-Jeremy

Jeremy,
Your only option will be to upgrade to at least Mac OS X 10.2.8. I recommend that you upgrade 10.3.9 though because of code optimizations, there is a consensus that it runs quicker and has more features. You'll need at least 128MB of RAM to run OS X at a grueling pace, but it's recommended that you put in as much as you can.
It should be noted that even with OS X, you'll still need an iPod Shuffle Dock or a USB Cable Extender to physically be able to plug the iPod Shuffle into your iBook's USB port, as the shuffle is a bit wide.
It should also be noted that the iPod Shuffle will then only run at slower USB 1.1 speeds not USB 2.0.
I hope this helps.

  • Will iPod Shuffle work on Lexus IS250/350 Standard Audio?

I own a '11 Lexus IS350. Will iPod Shuffle work on standard Lexus audio by plugging the device to USB port inside the center arm rest and control playback of tracks through Lexus audio unit? like PLAY, PAUSE, SKIP FORWARD / BACKWARD, etc etc etc?    I know iPod Touch works, but how about iPod Shuffle?  It doesn't have a lightning connector, instead it uses 3.5mm-to-USB cable supplied by Apple.  How da heck is that gonna work is beyond me..
    Thanks!

  • Will ipod shuffle play on xbox?

Last night I plugged my son's ipod shuffle into our xbox 360 and it recognized it by name, just fine under the music section. But then when I went to play music all the songs had this red circle with a line through it, behind them on the list, indicating that none of his songs would play (which they didn't). I assume the Xbox 360 is Windows OS. Does this mean I should buy a Sandisk or something else if I want to play digital music through our xbox (which in turn plays it through the surround sound)? I never tried this with my other son's Sandisk but it's got the USB port so hopefully that will work because it's not an Apple. Is this true that Itunes isn't compatible? -with anything else?

    Hi,
My ipod Shuffle works just fine, I know EXACTLY what issue you're having, (had the same issue with my ipod nano and Video on the 360) I will be that your shuffle has the songs as AAC rather than the MP3 Format. Out of the box the Xbox 360 dose not support the AAC Format so songs on the iPod would have to be MP3, I just took a peek and there is a patch you can download on your xbox 360 (must have xbox live to download this patch, either silver or gold account) that adds AAC support to your xbox, Download and install that patch on the Xbox 360 and your problems are over (If you cannot get the Xbox 360 online, you can't get the patch meaning no AAC play back, just convert the music on the shuffle (in itunes) to MP3 the reload the shuffle with the MP3s
    Hope that works!

  • Has anyone else had trouble connecting to a VW Golf media connector? My old iPod Shuffle works fine.

Have just bought a new Volkswagon Golf and a new iPod nano. My old iPod Shuffle works perfectly in the new car but the nano will not initialise and fails to function. Any ideas?
    Thanks
    David

Apple changed the Dock connector recently.
    - charging via FireWire is no longer supported
    - audio out works differently. As far as I can work out, the audio signal is still connected to the same pins, but it will only be switched on under certain conditions (the Dock has to tell the iPod that it can handle line audio, I presume).
I had the same problem with my Sik IMP. I stumbled on a partial solution: I connected an iJet Nav (wireless remote) between the iPod and the IMP. That enabled the audio out again. My iPod still doesn't charge though.
The DockStubz adapter solves the charging problem:

I haven't tried a combination of the two.

  • Will Ipod Touch work with Windows 8

Will IPod Touch work with Windows 8?  Why is that not even a listed option in the help feature?

Apple has just not got around to revising the documentation to reflect Win 8. Just use instructions for Win 7

  • Does the dock from a fourth generation ipod shuffle work with a second generation ipod shuffle?

Does the dock from a fourth generation ipod shuffle work with a second generation ipod shuffle?

No, they are different.  If you look at the replacement part for the 4th gen shuffle's USB cable
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC003ZM/A
it says it's only for the 3rd and 4th gen shuffle.

Is your Touch running iOS 5.n? If so, you can administer the AX with the AirPort Utility which you can download directly from the Apple App Store.

  • Will iPod Shuffle 2nd Gen work with 1st Gen USB Power Adapter?

    Hi.
I have the iPod USB Power Adapter (M9837ZM/A) and was wondering if it will also work with the iPod shuffle 2nd Gen?
Mine only lists the original shuffle (naturally) and I just realized that Apple apparently re-designed the USB Power Adapter (MB051LL/A), which does list the 2nd Gen shuffle (http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wa/RSLID?mco=E82 45892&nplm=MB051LL/A).
Does anyone know if I can use my power adapter with my new 2nd Gen shuffle?
    Thanks!

Will I be still pleasantly surprised when my iPod is fried?
So, what you're saying is, that whatever happens, it cannot do harm to the iPod?
If that's so, i'll give it a try.

  • IPod Shuffle Windows or Mac formatted?

I just got an iPod shuffle (2nd generation). It wont appear in ITunes. It's not any of the obvious errors listed and the 5 steps doesn't help. I've reset it several times. When I went to run the iPod updater it claims it is a Windows formatted iPod Shuffle and that the updater is for Mac only. The packaging doesn't have any description of it being a Windows only iPod! Can it be reformatted as a Mac iPod? If I don't have iTunes open the Shuffle will load as a disk drive in the finder but not as an iPod. Can anyone help me get my Shuffle to work? Cheers.

iPod formatted on a PC can be read by a Mac computer but not the other way round.
So your iPod of course can be restored or formated on a Mac computer.
I am not too sure, it can be a bad contact between the cable plug with your iPod causing the problem. Otherwise, see doing the following helps
    For Mac computer
    1. Open the disk utility, hope your iPod appears there (left hand side), highlight it
    2. Go to Tab “Partition”, click either “Delete” or “Partition”, if fails, skip this step and go to 3
    3. Go to Tab “Erase” , choose Volume Format as “MAC OS Extended (Journaled), and click Erase, again if fails, skip it and go to 4
    4. Same as step 3, but open the “Security Options....” and choose “Zero Out Data” before click Erase. It will take 1 to 2 hours to complete.
    5. Eject your iPod and do a Reset
    6. Open the iTunes 7 and click “Restore”

  • Will new shuffle work on older iMac w/USB 1.0?

Thinking about getting my 9 year old a new suffle for xmas. His mac is an older G4 FP (lamp style) and only has USB 1.0. Will the new shuffle work on his iMac?
    Thanks,
    Alfredo

The 2 responses to this question conflicted. On the
page referenced in the second answer, it says only
USB 2.0. The first answer said that yes, it will work
    with USB 1.0.
    Which answer is correct???
The first one... the second answer doesn't have any experience behind it, only marketing pap.
From a first hand point of anecdotal reference, MY iPods, including first and second generation Shuffles work fine with USb 1.1 (2001 iBook dual-USB, iMac 333mHZ Rev D, and eMac 1GHz).

  • Shuffle works with mac, but not PC

I bought an ipod shuffle two days ago and I wanted to try it out right away. At the time, I only had my macbook with me, so I put the little music I had on that on my shuffle. It worked fine then. When I was able to get on my PC (that has all my music on it) I couldn't put music on it or restore it. iTunes does recognize that it is there. Anyone have suggestions to fix this issue?

  • Will ipod Nano Work With SP2?

Hi everone! I want to buy a nano but all these negative discussions are giving me doubts. I have Windows XP SP2, all patches, and a USB 2.0 port. Will my iPod Nano work properly on this machinge if I buy one?

    Can you tell me more?
No, not really. I'm a Mac user and I avoid Windows like the plague.
I would imagine that any installation problems that you read about on these forums probably do not represent the majority of Windows iPod users. People post here when they have problems... so you never hear about the millions of users who are running smoothly without any issues.
Chances are, you'll have no issues at all.

  • Does the 1st generation ipod Shuffle work with the new iTunes?

I was just trying to sync my old iPod shuffle with iTunes 11 and it won't work. Any help?

    Mine works fine...
What do you mean by "it won't work"?  It doesn't appear in iTunes?  It doesn't sync?  It doesn't charge?

  • IPod Shuffle Working only in Disk Mode

I was gifted an iPod Shuffle. When I connect to my Mac, it is visible on Desktop. I am able to put music files into it and play the same.
But in no way I am able to see it in iTunes. Even the iPod Reset Utility is not recognizing. It simply says, connect your iPod to the computer.
    Please help

    2. iTunes and iPod Reset Utility is not able to recognize this Shuffle on either Windows or Mac.
WHAT does Apple System Profiler say about it when connected to a USB port?

    4. Yes, it is an original iPod Shuffle.
WHAT do you consider "_an original iPod Shuffle_"?
