Will it be able to run these games?

Hello everyone,
i've had a small question an its been worrying me a little bit for the past couple days, basically i'm working for UPS an basically getting all the seasonal money I can. I'm struck by getting a new laptop which would be a Mac Pro, Mac Air, or possibly just a iPad Air.
If I end up getting a mac, I'm thinking a Mac Pro will be better for me to go when I decide to run Windows on a part of it so I can continue to play the certain games I like to play from time to time when I get free time. I'm not sure if a Mac Air would also be able to handle it, so I've included it as well in the question. Basically I wanted to know if a Mac Air an a Mac Pro by default on purchasing on Apple's website would be enough to play these games without hardly any problems.
Vindictus
Combat Arms
Minecraft
7DaystoDie
Those are the games I'm playing around with when I have the time. If these two computers can't run these games on their default specs, I'm wondering would an Apple Store carry upgraded models? I've recently went into one of their stores an tried to use the "Can You Run IT" software on one of the Pro's and turns to find out that website is Windows based only, so basically couldn't find a Mac side at all.
Thanks for your help.

ipad air is out for those games.  a macbook pro would be the best choice.  my kid plays world or warcraft on his pro.  no issues
Peace, Clyde

  • Will I be able to run these games??

I've been trying to research this but I'm getting mixed messages. I know the graphics card on the Macbook isn't great but I'm not a huge gamer. Would I be able to run games like Sims 2 and Age of Empires III? I plan to get all the memory/speed upgrades on the Macbook. Thanks!!

    Hi,
according to the specs of these games the MacBook is able to run them.
But you have to bear in mind, that you might have to turn down the graphics details to get a decent gameplay.
Especialy AOE III is quite a challenge for the MacBook.
The graphics chip in the MacBook (Intel GMA950) is not that capable for playing games.
If you have the opportunity to try at least the Demo versions on a MacBook, then do it before you buy.
    Just to avoid disappointment.

  • Will I be able to run PC games smoothly?

    Hi,
I have searched around and found that most people say that PC games run smooth enough through Boot Camp but its kind of a deal breaker whether they can run smooth at a high resolution. The main purpose of installing windows on my mac would be to play Grand Theft Auto V through Steam. Being able to play it in 4k was the thing that made me think about trying Boot Camp but if I can't run it well (with no lag) and at a high resolution I wouldn't really be interested. Would be awesome if someone responded as I can't find a similar question anywhere and might save me a good bit of money to then find out it doesn't work so well.
    Many thanks,
    George

  • I want to upgrade to Lightroom 5, but I'm concerned about compatibility with my 2008 intel Core 2 Duo iMac with only 4G of Ram.  Will I be able to run Lighroom 5 if I upgrade from Snow Leopard to Lion?

I want to upgrade to Lightroom 5, but I'm concerned about compatibility with my 2008 intel Core 2 Duo iMac with only 4G of Ram.  Will I be able to run Lightroom 5 okay if I upgrade from Snow Leopard to Lion?  What will happen to the applications that aren't 64-bit compatible?  Also the Eye-one Display 2 colorimeter to calibrate the monitor will not run on Lion, so that will be an expensive upgrade to an i1DisplayPro. Is the upgrade important enough to offset the expense?  I have an Epson R2000 printer.  Will there be problems with the drivers if I upgrade to Lion?  It would be great to hear from other mac users who are also photographers and who print their own photos.

Before upgrading to Lion be sure to read this link:
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-6271
    Adobe lists these requirements:
    http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop-lightroom/tech-specs.html
Looking at http://www.everymac.com/ even the earliest 2008 iMac was fully 64 bit, even though Boot Camp doesn't support 64 bit Windows on that machine.

Hello. Will I be able to run Windows XP on a virtual machine (such as VirtualBox) in Mountain Lion? Currently, I have a Late-2009 MacBook with Snow Leopard, and I am planning on installing VirtualBox and Windows XP soon, then I'm planning on upgrading to Mountain Lion afterwards. Thanks.

    Yes.

  • I am considering purchasing the Mac mini for home studio audio production using Adobe Audition and a USB microphone.  Will the base mini model run these programs?

I am considering purchasing the Mac mini for home studio audio production using Adobe Audition and a USB microphone.  Will the base mini model run these programs?

The base mini has 4GB and a 5400 RPM hard drive. It is slow to start up and slow to launch large application such as Word (and I'd assume Adobe Audition) due to the slow drive. I've not used a new 4GB model, just the 8GB model, and the 8GB model (except for the slow drive) handles everything I've thrown at it, including running Photoshop, Word, Safari, and Mail at the same time but there is sometimes a delay switching between programs as the swapfile is updated. Overall I was not happy with the 5400 RPM drive (perhaps because I have MBA and iMac with Fusion drive) so I eventually upgraded it with an SSD. Now the mini is truly a warrior.

Once I upgrade my iMac 10.6.8 snowleoprd to mavericks will I be able to run my Adobe Lroom3 and Ps CS5.1 with no problems?

according to this reliable compatibility chart, they should run fine in Mavericks: http://roaringapps.com/apps
you can type in "lightroom" and "PS 5.1" in the search bar to see for yourself.

If I update from OS X 4.1 to OS X 6.8 will I be able to run various software I was using on my defunct MacBook Pro running OS X 8?

It depends on whether or not the program supports 10.6.8. Some commercial software may need to be reinstalled from the original media/downloads.

  • My non intel Mac runs OS10.5.6 but won't run Firefox 4.0, will I be able to run it at a later date or is my G5 ready for the graveyard?

Latest update says it won't run on my Mac (see question above) and current latest compatible version (3.6.17) will have full tech support for only a limited time now. Is there anything I can do to bring my Mac up to spec. Is it really a dinosaur already? Will I be able to run FF4.0 (or later) at a later dater date?
    Any answers appreciated, thanks... B

Ah you have PPC version. Either you can keep using Firefox 3.6.* are try a third party version of Firefox 4.0.* at http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox/
The Firefox 4.0 and newer downloads contains the 32-bit and 64-bit version for Intel at moment.

In addition to installing Windows in Boot Camp so that it will run instead of Mac OS X, you can also install Windows as a Virtual Machine so that Windows and the Mac OS can run at the same time. To use a Virtual Machine, you'd need software such as VMware Fusion, Parallels, or Virtual Box.
Note, however, that you may have some difficulty finding Windows 7 for sale. You may be stuck with Windows 8.1.

  • Will AppleWorks be able to run on Lion?

will AppleWorks be able to run on Lion?

    Bobio,
I am a High School Math teacher and I keep all the info regarding presences/absences and scores of my students in an AW 6 DB file of 255 fields — the maximum permitted by AW 6.
This I can reconstruct in FileMaker Pro, from the scratch, before the next school year begins in february of 2012. I will not need the 2011 file's data because the file data starts each year.
I know that I can make it better and more secure using FileMaker Pro.
But, for this current school year, I should do nothing.
The Expenses and the CheckBook, both AW 6 DB files cover more of 10 years and I would like to get all the data I have on those. With FileMaker Pro, I can even integrate both files in just one.
If FileMaker Pro can import the data of a Numbers spreadsheet, I will get my data, exporting from AW 6 DB mode to an AW 6 SS mode, and then to Numbers.
But I will not die just because this turns out to be impossible.
I am certain of one thing: Bento is not sufficient for me. Either I will have Snow Leopard or I will move to FileMaker Pro.
    Best regards,
Jorge Lucas (the guy from Rio Grande do Sul)

I have an iMac with Safari; will i be able to run LiveCycle and Designer?  I cannot get past acceptance page.  I want to use and update forms and it says I need Designer.  I was trying the trial version but am having problems.

Is there an actual individual who can give me guidance?  This "leave a question and come back days later" does not help.

  • Looking at MacBook Air. Will I be able to run InDesign and other CC apps?

I've had a MacBook Pro in the past, but stopped using it several years ago when it developed a charging issue that even the geniuses couldn't figure out. Needing to have it plugged in 100% of the time kinda defeated the purpose, so the kids took it over and I've been only working on my desktop since then.
I'm looking to get a laptop again as a backup computer, and I need to know whether it is reasonable to consider a MacBook Air for my needs. I work with InDesign, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, and Illustrator on a daily basis. I like the price tag of the MacBook Air, longer battery life, and light weight. I was going to upgrade to 8MB RAM… but does anyone have experience running these apps on a MacBook Air? Will it be an exercise in futility?
Thanks in advance for any guidance!

I use all of those app on my 2012 model and everything is fine with an i5 with 8GB. Not screaming fast, mind you, but for everyday task it’s fine.
Note that this is not my primary machine.
