Will it still increase my comps performance?

Hello one question if I add 512md ddr pc3200 will it still increase my computers performance if I already have 1gb of ram.....for example FPS on HL2?

Hi, are the OMEGA drivers different from the ones from the ATI website? if so are they better?  wots the corrolation with using ATI TOOL (to overclcock) and the  OMEGA DRIVERS?  btw please note this is for a 9800Pro ...

will more memory increase my iMac performance ?

    Depends.
Adding RAM only makes it possible to run more programs concurrently.  It doesn't speed up the computer nor make games run faster.  What it can do is prevent the system from having to use disk-based VM when it runs out of RAM because you are trying to run too many applications concurrently or using applications that are extremely RAM dependent.  It will improve the performance of applications that run mostly in RAM or when loading programs.

Yes, the app has a feature to playback the concert. I missed London Grammar and Imagine Dragons, but watched Coldplay. They were really excellent. Do love Apple for bringing this to us.

  • An index can not being used and still afect a query performance?

Hi i have a query with a high cost so i created two indexes, A and B, to improve its performance.
After the creation of the indexes when i reviewed the execution plan of the query the cost had been reduced, but i noticed that the index B is not being used,
and if i try to force the query to use index B with a HINT the cost increases, so i decided to drop the index B.
Once i droped the index B i checked the execution plan again and then i noticed that the cost of the query increased, if i recreate the index B the explain plan
shows a lower cost even though its not being used by the execution plan.
Does anyone know why is this happening?
An index can, not being used by the execution plan and still affect a query performance?

If I install VM Fusion or Parallels, does Windows run all the time? How does that affect computer performance? and how much do I need to worry about hard drive corruption?
Current versions of Fusion and Parallels are compatible with Yosemite. Both are applications which you only run when you want to run Windows within them. As such, there's no effect on computer performance when they're not in use. Like any other software, there is some additional load on your Mac when both Windows and the Mac OS are running together, but any noticeable effect depends on what each is being expected to do and what resources (e.g. available RAM and the number of CPU cores) you can devote to each.
I think there's less chance of HD corruption with a VM than there is with running Windows natively on the Mac in Boot Camp. Consider that, with a VM, you can create Snapshots of the state of your VM at a given time, and then, if something goes wrong (virus, malware, software installations), you can simply restore the Snapshot in a matter of seconds and eliminate the problems in the process. Moreover you can make a backup copy of the entire VM file, and replace a later version if you wish. Also consider that you can assign, say, 100GB of HD space to the VM, but the actual space devoted to the VM is only what's actually used; as more is needed, more is made available and Windows can't tell the difference. So, for example, my Win 7 Pro VM has an 80 GB virtual HD but only takes up 45 GB on my SSD, and that's with XP Mode in VPC installed inside it.
Microsoft no longer supports XP, though virus signature updates are still being issued. But MS has installed a pop-up message about EOL that won't go away (it's installed with KB2934207). Even if you remove that KB in Add and Remove Software, the pop-up continues. But if you have a Snapshot or a backup which is prior to it's original installation, you can skip installing KB2934207, and suppress it's reappearance on a Software Update list.

  • Will BW indexing help Webi reports performance

    Hi Experts,
    Environment
    BO Version:4.1 SP3
    Reporting Database:BW 7.4 sp3
Recently we have applied the OSS note :. 0001898395 so that we enabled index on the master data.
We have applied the note and had the index on the 0profit_ctr in the Infoobject: 0mat_plant.
Reports are fast in BEX side but there is no difference in webi reports performance.
Our opinion is if BEx performance is increased obviously WEbi performance also should increase.
    Please post your experiences..
    Thank you,,

Several things will affect the report speed. Note that there are two halves to it - the data source fetch time and the report render time.
Data source fetch time is the time that it takes for all the data to be returned. BO will always look slower than the native tool because the native tool starts spooling out results as soon as it retrieves the first one - the more data returned, the slower BO will look by comparison.
Report render time will depend upon the number and complexity of variables as well as the number of rows returned.
Reducing the volume of data with correct aggregations and filters rather than summing and filtering at report level are the two best ways to improve performance without database/universe access.

  • If I upgrade my OS to 10.8, will I still be able to run iWork?

I have an iMac from 2008; my wife just got a new iMac to replace her G-5(!).  I am still running OS 10.5.8; she is now on 10.8.  It seems to make sense for us to both be on the same OS (doesn't it?), but I don't want to have to spend tons of cash to do so.  If I upgrade my OS from 10.5.8 to 10.6 to 10.8, will I still be able to run iWork (specifically Pages and Numbers), or will I have to upgrade the software, too?  I also see that OS 10.8 needs 2G of memory, which is all I have.  So upgrading memory would be another expense.  I'm trying to figure out if I'm better off upgrading this machine,or selling a kidney and getting a new iMac.  Any thoughts?

iWork will run fine. 2GB is the minimum. Although it will not have optimal performance, I say it should be OK. I have Lion installed on my MacBook with 2GB and it runs fine, Mountain Lion is not much worse.

  • Increase interface for performance

    Hi expert,
I know (but it could be wrong) that over 100 connection per second, I could add one more network interface. For example create 2 different listner on 2 separated ETHn
I'd like to know if there is a best practise for to decide how many interface I can configure on my system (Red Hat with Oracle 11g EE)
    Thanks for any suggest.
    Cheers,
    Lain

Sure! Ok I mean that it could be a pool size from an middleware for a total of 100 (more, i think 200) connection established, with a frequency of 100 request per sec. Then I think an 100 (or 200) tcp packets for sec. NO 100 TCP_SYN, I explained wrongly, sorry! In that case, the number of network connections is trivial. And Oracle can easily support 1000+ client sessions (assuming a proper config).
ok for example a gigabit interface, from an application server to database server, point to point, without any layer.
In this scenario, Can I set 2 listener on 2 NIC? have I a benefit with an increase of the NIC? or for Oracle it is the same? (1 listener on 1 nic)I fail to see what an additional NIC or Listener will provide you in terms of performance - unless the latency and bandwidth of the wire protocol using the existing network infrastructure and NIC lacks. And with a GigE interface, that should not be the case.
Consider what a 2nd NIC and Listener will buy. It does not change the number of socket handles on the app server or the database server (same number of total client-server connections). It does not reduce the amount of traffic that will be exchanged between client and server. It does not reduce the server or client resource utilisation - the opposite in fact on the server as server resources are required for a 2nd Listener and a 2nd NIC.
So what does this 2nd NIC and Listener then address? Basically, the pieces of wire between the client and the server. Is the existing wire a problem ito bandwidth and latency and dropped packets?
Run a wire sniffer between client and server, put a test load on from client on the server, and determine if there are problem at wire level. If not, then why even consider "fixing" something that is working fine and not broken? To be honest - I would not even bother with this as there are far more important moving parts to get right than mucking about with the physical network level in such a case. Like using sharable SQL and bind variables. Like making the decision on how to use dedicated server or shared server models. Making sure the app layer does not leak ref cursors on the server layer. Etc.

  • How do I increase Logic's performance.

Gday. I have a MBP 2.4GHz 2GB. Will adding another 2GB or RAM reduce the -10011 Errors of System overload? They are more CPU errors as I'm aware? Also, what about a faster hard drive, will that increase Logic's performance?
    Cheers.

    Hi,
Adding more memory may improve performance. That depends on what your projects look like and what sort of instruments you use.
A faster harddrive always helps improving things for audio files based actions (recording, playing back, using sampled instruments).
Are you familiar with the buffer settings? Bigger buffer means more latency but generally also less to no overloads. Keep I/O safety buffer disabled. That feature appears to benefit only low spec systems like mine.
Also you can disable the overload warning alltogether here:
If Logic stops unasked, it has an overload - I guess you know that now.
    regards, Erik.

  • If I delete my songs from my "Downloads" folder, have them in my "Trash" and then delete them from my "Trash", will I still be able to play the songs on my iTunes or will they be deleted on my iTunes as well?

I want to clear some space on my Mac since it is filling up and I don't have much room left on it. I want to delete all my songs from my "Downloads" folder and then delete them from my "Trash" to free up space however, I'm worried that if I do this then iTunes will not play any of the songs I deleted.
Will I still be able to play my songs on iTunes even if they are not in my "Downloads" or "Trash" folders?
    Thank you.

All tracks in iTunes (if you use default settings) should be in various artist and album folders in the main media folder in the iTunes folder. You can right click a track to reveal its location in Finder.  If there's a copy there then it doesn't really matter what you do with other copies.
I have never downloaded from iTunes but I thought it placed files directly in the correct locations, or is this some other downloads folder to which you are referring?
Normally if you download a file from another source and add it to iTunes by dragging it there, or using the Add To menu item, it places a copy of the file in iTunes.  You can discard the original, but if you're concerned you can check which copy iTunes is actually using as above.

I'm about to buy a 27" i-Mac. I would like to connect my 30" Cinema Display to it as a second monitor. What will I need to do that? Will this slow down the overall performance?

The new iMacs do not come with a MiniDisplayPort, they have Thunderbolt, so unless you are talking about purchasing one of the previous generation iMacs such as this refurbished model in the online Apple store, it won't work. And yes, if you are going to get the full range of video resolutions you will need the Dual-Link version.
For details see the store's web page on the Dual-Link display adapter.

I received an online gift card for Father's Day.  When I tried to redeem the gift then I received a error message saying I had some itune files missing and I needed to reinstall/download itunes.  Will I still have my previous purchase credits after downloading and reistalling itunes?

You will, because the credited funds are on your iTunes account, not the application. When you reinstall iTunes just configure it with your old iTunes account and your credits will be there waiting for you.
