Will iTunes Match distinguish between purchased content and content added by CD?

Once iTunes Match is up and running I want to put the content on my iPod Classic into the cloud.  I understand there will be a fee for doing this; but, on the iPod there are some items that have been purchased through iTunes, as well as CD content that I own.  Will iTunes Match be able to distinguish the difference?

Everything anyone here knows or can say about iTunes Match can be found here:
http://www.apple.com/icloud/features/
Beyond that, we'll have to wait for additional details from Apple.
Regards.

  • Will iTunes Match sync up different libraries and playlists I have on multiple pc's?

As I've bought different laptops over the years I've got iCloud synching all my iTunes purchases.  However the music libraries and playlists are completely different ref. the CD's that I've loaded in.  Thinking of signing up to iTunes Match and wondered if this would at least give me 1 synchronysed version of each libraries music and playlists?

An addition to #3 above.  He currently backs up his iPhone to the desktop in the basement.  I will enable him to back up to the cloud, however if I have to do a local back-up, what computer should I use?  He also has music stored locally on his phone and I am unsure if I am going to enable match on his phone, if not, how will he get music on his phone?  I don't want his laptop to access the NAS with music on it so what should I do?  Maybe I will need to allow him access to the cloud?

  • HT5085 When will iTunes Match be available in Japan and/or Sweden?

Why is it taking so long for these countries? So many 3rd world countries already have it, so why not Japan and Sweden? Any sort of rough timeline estimate would be much appreciated. Thanks?

We are fellow users on here, until if/when Apple announce something nobody on here will know.

Hm ... I guess I can't edit the post above. Anyway, I seem to have solved it by ...
    Quitting iTunes.
Going into Home / Music / iTunes, and renaming the file "iTunes Library.itl" to "iTunes Library (corrupt).itl".
Entering Time Machine, and restoring the "iTunes Library.itl" file from a few days ago. I went back two days, which seemed far enough back to be "before" the problem but not far enough back to have trouble with recent acquisitions.
Re-opening iTunes - and everything seemed to be back in order.
So that's fine for now. We'll see if the solution is stable.
Very, very tentative assignment of blame: I believe iTunes crashed earlier today after I'd synced photos from my iPhone to iPhoto, and then iTunes crashed while iPhoto was closing (and taking its sweet time doing so). If that was indeed the case, that's at least the second time in the past couple of months that trying to sync iPhone photos to iPhoto has caused me significant problems. (The last time led to 80% of my iPhone suddenly being occupied by "Other", and a full restore of the darn thing.)

The only way to do what you want is to log into your wife's iTunes Store account on your iPad. Doing this will lock you out of your account for 90 days.

Do you have iTunes match? You need a computer to manage an iTunes match library.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
The easiest thing to do would be to sign into your iTunes account on your computer, connect your phone and sync. iTunes should copy anything from your phone that isn't already in your library on the computer.

  • Will iTunes Match back up music that's not in iTunes but on my iPhone 5?

My music (that was not purchased in iTunes) was deleted from my iTunes account but it's still on my iPhone 5? Will iTunes Match back this content up?

Do you know of any apps that will back up my music?
See these user tips for getting your music from your iOS device to your iTunes library:
Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device
Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive
For backing up your personal data, if you are using OS X Time Machine is built right into the OS. All you have to do is plug in an external USB HDD, enable it and forget it (not literally forget it, but it works automatically in the background). If you're using Windows you'll need to do some research to find backup software.

  • HT4914 will itunes match save my tagging?

I have changes album names, artist names, genres, album art, etc.  Will itunes match wipe them out for the default original tags or settings?
    Thanks.

iTunes Match is currently for music only. You should be able to re-download apps on your Mini via the Purchased tab in the App Store app on it.
Ringtones are currently a one-time only download from the store, so you will need to copy them from your phone to your computer's iTunes via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases (they will copy over to the Tones section of your library, and your apps other purchases will also be copied from the phone) - you can then sync them to your iPad.

  • Will itunes match save space on my ipad?

I need more space on my iPAD 16 gig
need space to upgrade to 7.o4

iTunes Match allows you to listen to your songs from iCloud instead of having them stored on your device, so it may help you save space from your device. See > http://www.apple.com/itunes/itunes-match/
Note that you do not need iTunes Match if you purchased your songs in the iTunes Store. In this case, you can just delete them from your device and you will be able to listen to them from iCloud

  • HT4914 Will iTunes match match songs that have been downloaded using a different audible account?

Will iTunes match match songs that have been downloaded using a different audible account?

    Hey there Chriskir,
It sounds like you would like to delete all the songs from your iPad but still be able to access them in iTunes Match. You can delete all the songs from the Music section of your Usage in Settings by swiping your music left:
    Settings > General > Usage
iPhone, iPad, and iPod: Understanding capacity

  • HT204074 I have our music collection on iTunes Match for my PC, ipad and iphone.  Can I share that music collection with my wife so she can play that with her iphone?  Even though she has a different Apple ID from me?

I have our music collection on iTunes Match for my PC, ipad and iphone.
Can I share that music collection with my wife so she can play that with her iphone?  Even though she has a different Apple ID from me?

Her iPhone will need to be set up to iTunes Match using your Apple ID to be able to share music via iTunes Match. Otherwise you'll have to download the music to your computer and then copy those tracks into her iTunes library, assuming hers is separate.

  • Will iTunes Match sync ID3 tags?

I tag all my music properly utilising BPM, Comments, Grouping and Record Label. Will iTunes Match sync these over to other devices?

You should check with the head unit manufacturer; they can most likely answer your question.

  • Link between Purchase Order and Production Order

    Hi,
Could some one tell me how i could get a relation ship between Purchase order and Production Order after a Good receipt is done. Coz after a GR is done I am not able to see the production order for a particular material in MD04 transaction.
    Thanks,
    Arul.

    Hi Arul ,
i think u may not get the LINK b/w Production Order and PO , Bcos--->
    check the process --->
RUN MRP , here System will generate the Production Plan and PRs( based on the avail.of that Raw Material). So PO will be generated by PRs.So I think there is no link b/w Production and Purchase .
this is based on the my system settings and my knowledge.
    Regards

  • HT4914 I have made a mess of my music library in ITunes, will ITunes Match help?

I have many songs not labelled correctly or recorded using less than great quality in my Itunes library.  I'm wanting to know if I sign up for ITunes Match, how do I get the enhanced, properly labeled library loaded back into my Itunes once it has been in the cloud and presumably been replaced by the high quality of the Apple library versions with all the proper labelling?  In other words, the versions in my ITunes are substandard, if I get ITunes Match will the versions in my computer's Itunes be converted to the better version and if not how can I accomplish that?  Or does the better version only work when streaming from the cloud?
I went into an Apple store and no one there could figure out the answer to this.  They thought I might have to delete my entire library from my computer then restore from the cloud but no one was sure.  Is there a conclusive answer on the way to do this?  If it will work, it would be worth it to me to get the ITunes Match just to clean up my library.

    Michael,
If the CDs were ripped a few years ago using a space-economical setting, then chances are that 256 will indeed be an upgrade.
After you upgrade a few songs as onesie-twosies, and have verified that you are comfortable with the results, you can start doing larger batches.  But I certainly do not endorse any advice that begins like "Step 1: delete your entire library"!
Also, make sure to make a backup before you begin, so if anything goes amiss, you can retrieve your current copy.  Here is the official guidance from Apple Legal:
"iTunes Match is provided on an “AS IS” basis and may contain errors or inaccuracies that could cause failures, corruption or loss of data and/or information, including music, playlist, and play history, from your computer or device and from peripherals (including, without limitation, servers and other computers) connected thereto. You should back up all data and information on your computer or device and any peripherals prior to using iTunes Match. You expressly acknowledge and agree that all use of iTunes Match is at your sole risk."
