Will Jrockit support the new Itanium Montecito chipset ?

Hi,
I am hoping if someone in BEA can
Q1: inform me of the existing JRockit 5.0 will support the new Itanium Chipset (code name Montecito)
Q2: if there is a new JVM planned for this chipset when it will be available.
I checked the Jrockit product page (http://edocs.bea.com/jrockit/jrdocs/suppPlat/supp_50.html), but didn't find any details.
Thanks,
Edwin Meijer
HP

Well we just tested a couple things and aparently SATA 1 or 2 or both don't work right still. I didn't test exactly which one wouldn't work with the drives, since we just wanted to get his raid setup started. So we have the two drives on SATA 3 & 4 and after multiple reboots, no clicking, and looks like everything works great.
Still need to test and see how it goes after a couple days of use, but seems like everything is running smoothly. Again, thanks for the help!

  • When will Adobe support the new Canon S100 RAW format in Lightroom (& Camera RAW)?

Just bought a new Canon S100.  It generates RAW files, but Lightroom would not import it as it said it was unsupported.  Any ideas when Adobe will start supporting this new RAW format?

Got mine yesterday and discovered LR and PS didn't recognize the camera.  To make maters worse the Canon software and manuals are on the included disc.  Unfortunately my iMac wouldn't recognize the the disc.  I called Canon and they told me the camera was too new and they couldn't help me. They didn't have another disc they could send me or I couldn't download the software on line.  They told me to check back in a few weeks.  Before I hung up, the rep asked me if there was anything else he could help me with.  All I could do was laugh.

Since today the new Nikon D810 is available in stores. When will this camera is supported by Lightroom?

Just posted to Lightroom Journal Lightroom Journal | Tips and advice straight from the Lightroom team. It's not Lightroom, but since Lr Develop module is based on Camera Raw it's worth a look, sooner rather than later.

  • How/when will AIR support the new iPad?

I believe that the following will be needed:
    - new placeholders in app xml for the new iPad retina icons
    - a mode that will allow the content done in 'non-retina' iPad to be viewed on new IPad (like the tag that makes iPhone 4 to fill 4 pixels and be used as the iPhone 3)
    - a simulator for all AIR environments, which allows the visualization of the iPad retina display (I guess it will have to have scrollbars for the first time in a mobile phone simulator, since the height is going to be 2048 pixels :-O )
    - anything left on the list?

ok so i guess its 50/50 so far. stretching to big screen works fine but native resolution does not seam to be supported. Meaning i see pixilization on side of the image. if vector is used it should not be a problem (i guess)
for testing i used high res images from here: http://www.zastavki.com/eng/Motocycles/Harley_Davidson/wallpaper-12206-18.htm just to give proper credit to who ever did the image
So for 1st test i used regualr ipad resolution 1024*768 i used HIGH res setings and placed 1280x800 photo obviously it got cut off, some side of the modules pixelazied but oveall model is ok no big digtortion
Next i inputed resolution to be 2048*1536, image now fully fits in, so i would expect it to be rendered nicely on large canvas yet i have same ordrder pixilization (ani alising needed i guess) I may be a bit picky but i consider interface by Apple to be perfect and our image that seams to be well rendering (externally) gets dissorted
    Anyway here is snapshot
Now, lets play with bigger resolution  image... i used 1920x1200 resolution source image and HD canvas. Got image to be displayed almost full screen but sides of the images are not that perfect again.
Now i figure that print screens may not shto artifacts of renderings so i took some photos
As you can see around (5) has sitortion even though there is no on original image. This is photo of last test in HD mode full screen large image.
    Here is another one
So my conclusion so far, is that 1024*768 and 2048*1536 have sa,e result in both case there is some sort of stratching and smoothing applied by player. Logically higher resolution images should look better on "new ipad" but i did not see that in my test.
Maybe i did something wrong but taht what I have so far! Any comments ideas? Lets get this thing to have perefect output... maybe you have other test assets?

  • Will FCP support the new Sony V1U

I'm considering buying the soon to be released Sony V1U. Does anyone know if this camera will be supported by Final Cut right away or will we have to wait for NAB for an update?
    Thanks,
    Anne

Might need an update to work directly with captured files and all formats it shoots (unless it uses the same protocols that the XDCAM stuff does). Sony says that if you have their HDV devices (deck) you can play thru to it apparently in it's literature. Meaning you can capture it during a playback from the camera I guess. It does record to tape too, right? Sony:
In addition to typical 60i, the HVR-V1U offers 24p/30p progressive scan capture, enabling cinema and drama productions in its compact yet high performance unit. The camcorder also adopts the world's first 2-3 pull-down HDV recording system for storage of the 24p scanned images, keeping your existing HDV1080/60i HDV gear in action. Playback your 24p/30p scan footage using Sony HDV equipment you already have at hand, or feed it to a compatible Non-Linear Editing (NLE) system without changing your HDV deck or monitors - it’s as simple as that."
I'd not be the first on my block to buy one before they are in circulation and someone with first hand experience has reported that there's no hitches...

  • When will ACR support the newer Pansonic cameras (G5/LX7/FZ200)

    Hi,
Any idea of how long we are likely to have to wait for an update to ACR for these cameras? Even beta quality would be good

I can only ask the question.
And it's a question that anybody who knows can't answer...those that know can't say, those that say don't know.
Adobe does NOT offer any advance public warning of updates or betas...they just don't.
And people who work with Adobe doing testing are under NDAs that preclude them from commenting, so the question you asked can't be answered.

  • Will my 2010 Macbook Air that is currently running  Lion 10.7.5 support the new Mountain Lion OS?

I habe an older Macbook air. Its a 2010 and is currently running  Lion 10.7.5. I was wondering if it would be able to support the new Mountain Lion OS?

    In addition to Stedman's spot-on reply --
When you buy an upgrade disk, all updates in that OS can be found on Software Update.
For instance, I bought Snow Leopard at 10.6.
All other updates have been free and downloadable.  So I'm not a 10.6.7.
    10.4 (Tiger) went to 10.4.11.
    10.5 (Leopard) went to 1.5.8
10.6(Snow Leopard) is currently at 10.6.7.
Now, when Lion come out (the next major upgrade of OSX), I will have to pay to go to 10.7.
After that, updates are free til 10.8 comes out.

There seems to be a problem, just now, with the USB 3 ports on the new MBP's supporting eternal USB 3 drives. Some people have no luck at all - can't even recognize the drive - and some are reporting USB 2 speeds (those who drives are recognized). I'd call a dealer such as LaCie or OWC to see if they have USB 3 drives that actually work with MBP's with USB 3 ports. You may have to wait for a software/firmware update.

You can answer questions like this yourself by always checking the documentation first.
NEW is not a variable, it is a correlation name.
See 'The Trigger Body' section in the Oracle7 Server Application Developer's Guide
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/A57673_01/DOC/server/doc/ADG73/ch9.htm
    >
    The Trigger Body
The trigger body is a PL/SQL block that can include SQL and PL/SQL statements. These statements are executed if the triggering statement is issued and the trigger restriction (if included) evaluates to TRUE. The trigger body for row triggers has some special constructs that can be included in the code of the PL/SQL block: correlation names and the REFERENCING option, and the conditional predicates INSERTING, DELETING, and UPDATING.
Accessing Column Values in Row Triggers
Within a trigger body of a row trigger, the PL/SQL code and SQL statements have access to the old and new column values of the current row affected by the triggering statement. Two correlation names exist for every column of the table being modified: one for the old column value and one for the new column value. Depending on the type of triggering statement, certain correlation names might not have any meaning.
A trigger fired by an INSERT statement has meaningful access to new column values only. Because the row is being created by the INSERT, the old values are null.
A trigger fired by an UPDATE statement has access to both old and new column values for both BEFORE and AFTER row triggers.
A trigger fired by a DELETE statement has meaningful access to old column values only. Because the row will no longer exist after the row is deleted, the new values are null.
The new column values are referenced using the NEW qualifier before the column name, while the old column values are referenced using the OLD qualifier before the column name. For example, if the triggering statement is associated with the EMP table (with the columns SAL, COMM, etc.), you can include statements in the trigger body similar to
    IF :new.sal > 10000 . . .
    IF :new.sal < :old.sal . . .
Old and new values are available in both BEFORE and AFTER row triggers. A NEW column value can be assigned in a BEFORE row trigger, but not in an AFTER row trigger (because the triggering statement takes effect before an AFTER row trigger is fired). If a BEFORE row trigger changes the value of NEW.COLUMN, an AFTER row trigger fired by the same statement sees the change assigned by the BEFORE row trigger.
Correlation names can also be used in the Boolean expression of a WHEN clause. A colon must precede the OLD and NEW qualifiers when they are used in a trigger's body, but a colon is not allowed when using the qualifiers in the WHEN clause or the REFERENCING option.
    The REFERENCING Option

Does FCP support the new Panasonic AVC Intra codec?
    NOT AVCHD but AVC Intra?
Will it require more rendering or converting before I can use it?
I am looking at buying the HPX-2000 with the new AVC Intra board, recording to P2. AVC Intra is H.264 codec.

I don't think this is supported yet.. but the camera's ability to shoot DVCPROHD certainly is.

Sure, you can get around it if you don't need the newest version of iTunes. I still use version 7.5 because the newer versions didn't strike me as offering anything I needed.
If you do need a version 10-something then you will have to upgrade your operating system to Leopard (fi your computer will support it) at least.  If you need 10.5 for some reason then there's no getting around it, you will have to buy a new computer.
