Will just 4 speakers be ok with USB X-Fi Surround?

I'm trying to decide whether this USB card is suitable for my setup. (MacMini running XP with two stereo amps)
My question is, does the "control panel" for this card allow you to configure it to match the number of speakers you have? I'm intending to connect the front (RCA) feed to a stereo amp which dri'ves a pair of floorstanding speakers under my screen, and send the rear feed (stereo minijack) to an amp which dri'ves a pair of bookshelf speakers at the back of my tv room. (in other words I don't own a genuine AV amp.)
I have no sub/centre speakers and do not intend on getting any. (no amp to connect them to anyway ;-)
Can anyone tell me whether this unit has the ability to downmix the sub/centre stream from a 5. movie file into the front speakers? I know that the Realtek control panel on my desktop machine in my office supports this.

I know the USB X-Fi Surround support 4.0 speaker configuration, but as for the performance, it is better for some other users who own the device to comment.

Open Console in Applications>Utilities & see if there are any clues or repeating messages when this happens or doesn't happen.

Assuming your iPhone is well charged, place it in recovery mode as described here. You may have to try this more than once to succeed.

Ipod touch will only restart if connected with usb to pc

My ipod touch 3rd gen will only restart if it's pluged in to the pc with a usb cable, why? The battery has full charge.. power button seems to work fine. i can turn it off normally... Whats up with this, Help!

It could still be the battery but try these first:
- Reset. Nothing will be lost.
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory defaults/new iPod.

Nomad MuVo will not power on even with a new battery. USB works fine, just No Green

Since it connects properly to the pc, I suggest loading the latest firmware into it.

Make sure that is the correct firmware for your exact Muvo model. If not, then choose the proper one.

yeah tried all that. the only thing that i havent tried is to delete itunes completely and restart. its the same with the ipad. i havent done a master reset. i just think it has to be something rather simple as it acknowledges that i have plugged in the ipad as it makes the noise it just come up usb not recognized. it shows up as an unknown device that doestn have any drivers

IF RESET DOESN'T WORK, FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
1. Turn off iPad
2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port. Do not release button until you see picture of iTunes and plug (very important)
5. Release Home button.
ON COMPUTER
6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
7. Select "Restore iPad"...

TOSHIBA Blu-ray Disc Player not compatible with USB speakers

I have a P850, using Logitch Z305 USB speakers. The speakers work fine with all other multimedia software such as WMP, iTunes or MPC, but not with TOSHIBA Blu-ray Disc Player. The Toshiba program either won't work or will crash if the speakers are plugged in. Is anyone aware of a way to fix this?

This Logitech speakers are plug and play device that uses standard driver and are installed as any other plug and play device. I dont have it but I saw interesting movie on You Tube about it.
To be honest I dont understand why it cannot works with TOSHIBA Blu-ray Disc Player. I think you are the first one who has reported about this issue.
Problem is that Toshiba doesnt support third part software or hardware so it is not easy to find solution for this.
I really hope there are other users who have fixed it or can offer some useful tip for this pretty strange issue.

There is no other way than to plug into a computer to restore the phone. You can use another computer to do so, but in case you did not back up to iCloud your data and settings will be gone.

Want a Nano: will it work on a G3 with USB 1.1?

I am thinking of buying a Nano, but it's going to be used on a G3 iMac with USB 1.1.
Does this mean I can't connect it, or does it mean that loading songs will be slow?

Many people with older computers running 10.2.8 are using an iPod successfully. There are three issues. 1) you must be able to run the newest version of iTunes (which requires 10.2.8), 2) your syncs will be longer, 3) your USB port may not supply enough current to charge the iPod
Totally refilling a 4gb Nano with USB1 will take just over an hour. That might sound pretty bad but will you really swap out all 4gb at once? I generally swap out 3-4 CDs at a time which will take no more than about 5-10 minutes.
If you find your USB port doesn't charge the iPod you can purchase a powered hub for about $15-$20 or an iPod charger.

Will not charge on any charger, will charge with USB connected to PC

iPod Classic (60 GB Photo) will not charge on ANY charger - usb, firewire or car charger, I tried multiple versions of all of them, but it will charge when connected to my USB port on my PC.
When connected to a charger, is shows that it is charging but it doesn't. It doesn't matter if the battery is dead, 1/2 charged or 3/4 charged, it leaves the iPod battery in the same state, not charging at all, no matter how long it is left connected.
It charges perfectly normally when connected to a USB port on a PC.
It's not the chargers not the cables since I've tried different ones.

I have the same problem with ipod nano.
When I connect itt o mains USB charger the ipod switches on and is in pause mode but appears to be charging.
After a few minutes the ipod switches off and the screen is just black with no charging indicated.
If I set it to play then after a while the charging logo goes off and it just runs on the battery until it is dead.
If I switch off the ipod then it goes to black screen.
This is different behaviour from connecting to USB on a computer, where the
charging persists. Even if you switch the ipod off then it still shows a charging logo.
It seems like the computer is supplying a signal to keep the ipod awake and that it does not get from the mains USB supply.

I've had a problem with syncing itunes, when i sync it dosent sync songs previously deleted it just greys them out, which is great but if i want to add a new video or song from my computer it wont sync it will just grey out and wont play. now all my songs

ive had a problem syncing with itunes recently. when i delete a song on my iphone when i sync with my computer it still syncs but just greys out and is rendered useless. thats great unless i when i want to add new music or videos from my pc to my iphone it wont sync and will just grey out. i looked for solutions and one said that deleteing all your music from the usage in settings would fix it, well now when i sync all of my music is greyed out. ive tried adding all of my songs manually into my ipod instead of syncing entire library and nothing. (also when i select to sync music nothing shows up in the usage bar (normally 3 gigs) might help) could someone please help?

The tech who set the phone up at the Apple store did so with little training.
if you have a mobile me account. First go and move all your data to the cloud by going on your computer and logging in at me.com/move. The cloud has replaced mobile me, so there is no need for those two accounts
Also make sure that for any of your email accounts you set them up to fetch, not push. My tech person set them all to have the email servers push data to the phone. The new iphone4s antenna is extremely strong so it will continually try to access stuff that is pushed–***** a lot of battery life doing this. It makes it worse if you have exchange 2010 accounts. Something about changes made to exchange really suck battery life from devices that access such accounts.
