Will LE9 work on a PPC G5 running Leopard?

Will be getting a new iMac in a few weeks but was hoping to get the LE9 update and install it on my G5 running Leopard. Will it work?
Thanks

I run LE9 on a G5 dual processor with Leopard and it is fine for me. There were updates that I wanted to load that required an Intel processor so be sure the version you use does not include such an update.

Firefox 4 will not work on a PPC Mac, it requires an Intel Mac. There is a third-party build that will work on the PPC Mac, for details see http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox/

  • Need Help...my wireless airport express will not work with my update of snow leopard

after installing snow leopard on my macbook pro my airport express will not work...or will connect only for a minute at a time.

If you mean by "airport express" the square airport router you plug in and has a usb port then run the Airport Utility located in your Utilities folder to set it up again. If AU doesn't see it you may need to do a re-set of the AE.

  • Everything crashing on second-hand PPC g5 running Leopard!

I just bought a 1.8 GHz g5 PowerPC running Leopard from my university's Surplus store. Supposedly they wiped the HD and installed Leopard, but I can't install a variety of applications because they keep "quitting" "unexpectedly."  My primary objective is to download a compatible version of Adobe Flash Player, but other forum answers have not provided the solution. HEEEELP MEEEE!!

    1. Reinstall the software, then repair permissions as well as the hard drive:
Repairing permissions is important, and should always be carried out both before and after any software installation or update.
Go to Disk Utility (this is in your Utilities Folder in your Application folder) and click on the icon of your hard disk (not the one with all the numbers).
In First Aid, click on Repair Permissions.
This only takes a minute or two in Tiger, but much longer in Leopard.

An article on troubleshooting Permissions can be found here:

By the way, you can ignore any messages about SUID or ACL file permissions, as explained here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1448?viewlocale=en_US
If you were having any serious problems with your Mac you might as well complete the exercise by repairing your hard disk as well. You cannot do this from the same start-up disk. Reboot from your install disk (holding down the C key). This can take longer than a normal start-up.  Once it opens, select your language, and then go to Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Select your hard disk as before and click Repair.
Once that is complete reboot again from your usual start-up disk.

You can check here:  http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/  to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS. Note that version 10,1,102,64 is the last version available to PPC Mac users*. The latest version, 10.2.152.25 or later, is for Intel Macs only, as Adobe no longer support the PPC platform. Note that the latest Flash Player update only works on YouTube with Safari in 32 bit mode - until YouTube correct this.
    * Unhelpfully, if you want the last version for PPC Macs, you need to go here:  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/142/tn_14266.html  and scroll down to 'Archived Versions/Older Archives'. The first one on the list, Flash Player 10.1 is the one you download. More information here:  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/838/cpsid_83808.html
You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/865/cpsid_86551.html#prob1=uninst,os=m10.6,
and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.

  • Will my 12" G4 PB 1.5ghz ,,, Run Leopard ?  Minimum system requirements ?

The Genius told me to wait for Leopard os X . Well I would like to know if I need a dual processor with an intel chip machine. Will it be retro compatible ?
    Thanks Hans K.
    powerbook g4 , superdrive , 700MB + ram   Mac OS X (10.3.7)

Yes your machine will run Leopard very well. I've used both retail and developer seeds since before the 10.0 public beta and every major Mac OS X update has increased performance on the same hardware. There have yet to be any negative comments (performance wise) about the current developer seeds.
In addition, the GPU in your machine supports Core Animation, so theoretically in many respects you should get a smoother experience.
Leopard is scheduled to be released by Spring 2007, so that's why you were probably advised to wait for an upgrade.

  • Will Dual 1.25 GHz PowerPC G4 run Leopard?

I just bought a MacBook Pro and purchased Leopard (had to get the install disks since I bought the Macbook prior to Leopard release). I also have a 1.25 GHz PowerPC G4 and need to know if I can load and run Leopard on it? It currently has OS 10.3.9 and would like to get it up to speed and in sync with my MacBook if possible . . . but am still confused about everything I see on in discussions as to whether or not this is possible. Help!
    Robin

The G4 can readily run Leopard. Here's the requirements:
    *Leopard Technical Requirements*

However, the license that came with your Leopard install DVD limits you to one Mac, unless you bought the family pack.

  • RSDRD_DELETE_FACTS will only work the 1st time it runs in the chain

I've created a deletion program via RSDRD_DELETE_FACTS the way it states so it can be ran from a process chain.  It seems to work fine the 1st time the chain runs and then after that it doens't work.  I did a debug of it my slection criteria for my deletion are not saving even though I do the F8 2 times like it says.
    any ideas?

I was able to fix our issue of it not deleting after the 1st run.
You can create the delte program using RSDRD_DELETE_FACTS.  when you hit execute you will need to put in the data target and then select Generate deletion program and give it a name.
then you will need to go into the code it generated and comment out the line below.  If this is not commeted out it deletes this from the table everytime and it doens't save your deletion parameters.
DELETE FROM DATABASE RSDRBATCHPARA(DE) ID L_UID.
    Hope this helps

  • IChat screen sharing under Leopard; do all Mac need to be running Leopard?

Or will it work even if they are running Tiger, as long as I'm running Leopard? Note that this feature is new, I believe, with Leopard. Also, how is this feature different from Apple's Remote Desktop utility?
    Thanks!
    Bruce

Screen sharing via iChat requires that both machines to be on Leopard. You can connect and run another Tiger machine on the same network by connecting to it. You need to set/turn on the Apple Remote Desktop option from the System Preferences/Sharing on the Macs running Tiger. You then should be able to control the Tiger mac from the leopard machine. I don't think it will work the other way.

  • My work computer runs Outlook 2003, which I know will not work with the iCloud, so I hard sync.  But then the new info on my iPhone does not backup to iCloud.  Is there a solution?

I have a Macbook and iPhone and like to back up to iCloud.  However, my work computer runs Outlook 2003, which I know will not work with the iCloud.  The company has no plans to update anytime soon.  Since the calendar and contact list on my office computer are my primay ones, I hard sync through iTunes.  The problem is that any data synced from Outlook 2003 to the iPhone from iTunes does NOT later backup to iCloud.  Is there a solution?

I have the same problem with Outlook 2003 and Win XP which the multinational organisation I work for standardises on and will probably stay with forever!

    Things to note:
I have been unable to update firmware on this computer for about a year now. Im not sure why.
I am running a bootleg copy of Windows XP on this computer, I would not like to spend $149 to get Windows 7 if possible.
any thoughts on the matter would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Why don't you take your 'old' MBP into your local Apple Store and have them check out everything that's wrong with it - and I mean everything? Then, when you get an estimate about how much it would cost to get the machine completely repaired, ask about the Apple flat-rate repair pricing?
It's worth a shot - and with what you may save, you can put in the bank for a new MBP.

  • TS1362 I have a Mac Pro tower, am running osx and iTunes will not work.. It basically just stopped working after having run faultlessly for...years... I can see all the songs, playlists etc, but the progress bar will not progress..it's 'stuck'. Suggestion

I have a Mac Pro tower am running OSX and iTunes will not work. It has always worked flawlessly. I can see all my iTunes content- my playlists, my songs et cetera, But I cannot play anything. The progress bar is  'stuck'...any suggestions?

Thanks. I have been using iTunes since its inception and have never had a problem...I'm using the latest version. The progress bar is the bar that moves when you're playing a song..it just won't start when I double click on a song,..have tried quitting, rebooting etc but nothing works. Apple are useless-they have told me twice they've tried to call me 'momentarily', but I've been waiting by the phone, and they definitely have not tried to call...
