  • Help! limewire will not work on my Mac mini 10.4.11 now that i cleaned it

Help! LimeWire will not work on my Mac mini 10.4.11 now that i cleaned it out and had to get the new LimeWire. It keeps asking for Java 1.6 but I'm having no luck. :O( LimeWire was the reason I bought a Mac!

    Very weird day in Firefoxland
First on a Powerbook G4 running 10.4.11 I respond to an invitation to upgrade to Firefox 4 (like a lot of others). Long story short, I wind up losing the browser altogether -- including all bookmarks. Why? Because neither the Firefox homepage (or CNET downloads) makes it clear that 4.0 is for OS 10.5 only! Amazing!
Then I try to register to post a reply in a thread that crits Firefox for not making this System Requirements info upfront clear. But the Register page I’m taken to (https://support.mozilla.com/bs/users/register) is in SERBO-CROATIAN!!
Then I try to log into Chat a couple of times and when it’s not CLOSED its a long line waiting and THEN it closes.
WOW!! Are the wheels off the wagon here or what!?!

  • If i buy a cd game, will it work on my mac?

let's say i buy a sims cd game from walmart and it's written for pc, will it work for my mac?

If run through Windows, yes. If run through Wine or CrossOver Games, it depends on the game.
Mac OS X cannot run Windows software natively.

  • Will Leopard work with my 667 TiBook?

Will Leopard work with my 667 powerbook? Will it be too slow and pig out? or is it going to be alright? I'm hoping to get a newer MAcbook Pro sometime mid year but I'd like to be current althogh I've never gone to Tiger. I love Tiger it's in my iMac at home.

Hi, Looter. I read your caveat. Questions about iPods are much more likely to be answered usefully in the iPod forums than here, so if you're interested in advice from anyone besides Sevenfish who may be able to help solve your problem, that's where to post. No offense intended.
Your observation about Sevenfish's "reply" posted yesterday is interesting. All inactive threads in the Discussions are archived off and become locked (they used to become completely inaccessible) after a predetermined period of time has elapsed since the last post in the thread. The time before archiving-off varies from one forum to another: it's usually shorter in the most active forums and longer in the less active ones in my experience, but there may be exceptions. Either Sevenfish just happened to post again immediately before his post was archived off yesterday, or else there's an exception to the "replies are not allowed" rule for the original poster of an archived thread — maybe so the OP will be able to mark a question "Answered" and not have it show up as unanswered forever on his or her "My Questions" page. I don't know which is the case. Thanks for pointing out the oddity.

Yes the Mac can read that drive but you would need to Copy the data off of it to the Mac as apposed to Move, which implies Deleting them from the drive as they were transferred from the external to the Mac. Since the Mac can Not Write to NTFS drives it can't Delete anything as that is really a Write operation, IE Making changes to the NTFS formatted drive.
Once you have that Data on Both your New Mac and you Older Windows PC you can format that drive to work on both system.
If you want to and plan on doing that post back and I'll explane how, it is simple but should be done on a Windows PC.
If you only plan on using it on the Mac from now on that is fairly simple also and is done on the Mac, Once you have the files from it stored on the Mac.
Yes you could burn those photos to DVD but that is just a waste of DVDs, you don't need to.

  • Will Leopard work instead of snow leopard on my 2010 mac pro 12 core?

I am having issues in finalcut 7 shuting down using snow leopard. I bought a new macpro 12core last january and started having this problem. all upgrades were done, no change. had a copy of leopard(10.5) and tried a clean install. computer will not recognize disk. tried tiger, same deal. my main question is will it work on the mid-year macpro's?

Any Grey Discs would be machine specific.
It is sometimes possible to install an earlier OS, but...
Don't install a version of Mac OS X earlier than what came with your Mac...

  • Will leopard work with the current 2.16ghz mac book with 2gb ram?

hey just a quick question new to the whole mac thing and was just wanting to know will i be able to upgrade to leopard on my white mac book 2.16ghz with 2gb of ram and 120 gb harddrive?
    will it run smoothly?
    thanks simon

The terms of use actually says:
"Speculations or rumors about unannounced products."
I would take that to mean questions and speculation about products which have been announced would be okay. Stuff like "Do you think Leopard will be able to do this or that" would seem to be okay.
I think Apple's intent is to keep speculation and/or rumors about products which may not even exist to a minimum.
Granted, no one, apart from developers under a NDA, have experience with Leopard... and even they don't know what the "secret" features are... but I think we're okay chatting about that stuff. They have a major OS overhaul coming in just a few months. I can't imagine they wouldn't expect people to chat about it... beyond what they have posted.

  • OS X lion USB Thumb Drive - will this work on new Mac Mini or MBA (2011)?

    Hi All,
Not to be confused with the other similar posts, I am interesting in only clarification of what build comes with the USB Thumb Drive now available on Apple Store - will this work with new MBA and Mac Mini?
    Thanks,

From what I have read about the usb installer, it is not intended for you to try booting from the stick after wiping your hard drive. You are to click on the installer
You may be correct, but this statement is quite confusing in that context:
    Important Note
When you install OS X Lion using the USB thumb drive, you will not be able to reinstall OS X Lion from Lion Recovery. You will need to use the USB thumb drive to reinstall OS X Lion.
So, if the Thumb drive is supposed to take the part of the Recovery partition, it seems that it should be able to boot. However, the license agreement still requires an Apple computer running Snow Leopard, so maybe it isn't bootable.

  • I want to get CS5.  Will it work with my Mac OS X Lion?

It works with Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard, Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard.
I have a Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3.  Will it work?
    Thank you!

Try opening an email, press COMMAND P and make sure that the correct printer is selected at the top of the pane. You can also save as a PDF at the bottom left of this pane.

  • Lexmark 1200 Series All in 1 Will not work on my MAC

I recently purchased a Lexmark 1200 series all in one an it will not work. Plug n play doesn't happen so i went through system pref, clicked printer and add printer. It seen it plugged in via usb so i clicked it then it said select drive. The driver for this model isn't there. I did a software update, didn't work so I searched online and cant find anything and neither did the official lexmark site.
Don't know what model mac I have. All I know is its a new mac book so ignore what my OS is.
    Thanks

    Hi mrburgess187!
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
I went to Lexmark's website and under OS compatibility I didn't see your printer listed for OS X compatibility.

  • Hi8 to convert , want to but canopus 300? will it work on my mac?

Hello all hopefully this is in the right place for this question.
i have a MBP 2008 mac OS x 10.5.8- 15 inch 2.4ghz 2duo 2gb 200gb 5400. I want to convert some of our family hi8 tapes to digital format then to burn to DVD. SO here goes the questions.
    1. I heard something about how some MBP can not work with the Canopus 110 or 300 b/c of a certain pin/plug? something how do i know what mine is?
    2. If i go the route with the converting of hi8 to the Canopus 300 then to my mac book pro, If i use and i have idvd 7.0.4 and imovie 8.0.6. will these just convert to digital in my MBP then can burn them to DVD? what format? does it come out as? is it that simple?
3.Right now i just want to copy to digital and then burn to DVD. So what software would i need to just copy to digital...(hi8->Canopus_>to MBP)then burn to DVD.?
    4. Also If i wanted to edit them , what program would i use and is it simple?
    5. Thanks in advance to all that can help me here? A Newbee .. thanks coloradocowboy

The 300 would be the better device for Hi-8 conversion of the two. It will work with your Mac when configured correctly. Your MBP will probably have a 400 and 800 firewire port, either will work using compatible cables.
For video work I would suggest your grab an external firewire hard drive with two firewire ports. The 5400 drive on your Mac is a bit on the slow side plus 200 gig is really too small but for the most simple of Projects.
    2. If i go the route with the converting of hi8 to the Canopus 300 then to my mac book pro, If i use and i have idvd 7.0.4 and imovie 8.0.6. will these just convert to digital in my MBP then can burn them to DVD? what format? does it come out as? is it that simple?
The AVDC is the the device that does the converting, not iDVD or iMovie. You capture the converted Hi-8 stuff into iMovie, edit as required, then export the iMovie project to iDVD and burn a DVD. Yes it's simple enough, Caveat Emptor applies, there are settings that need to be applied correctly in the AVCD300 converter, iMovie and iDVD to make it work without grief. Ask for details in the appropriate forums and/or read the help files, it's all explained.
3.Right now i just want to copy to digital and then burn to DVD. So what software would i need to just copy to digital...(hi8->Canopus_>to MBP)then burn to DVD.?
iDVD has a One Step DVD feature that should do this. Because you have a DV Converter in the loop device control will not apply.
    4. Also If i wanted to edit them , what program would i use and is it simple?
iMovie, simple enough when you read and understand the iMovie help files.
    5. Thanks in advance to all that can help me here? A Newbee .. thanks coloradocowboy
    No probs.
