Will lion run on Intel Core Duo?

Will Lion OS run on a 2GHz Intel Core Duo?

No. Lion will not run on an Intel Core Duo.
The hardware requirements for Lion are:
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
2GB of memory
OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
7GB of available space
I have a MBP with 2 GB of RAM which is running Lion quite happily.

    Hello,
Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
    Then perform these steps:
#Open Firefox ''Options'' window (''Preferences'' on Mac or Linux) as follows:
#* In Firefox 29.0 and above, click the menu button [[Image:New Fx Menu]] and select ''Options'' for Windows or ''Preferences'' on Mac or Linux.
#* In Firefox 28.0 and previous versions, click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
#In the Firefox Options (or Preferences) window, click the ''Advanced'' tab, then select ''General''.
#In the settings list, you should find the ''Use hardware acceleration when available'' checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
#Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.
Additionally, please check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in the following Knowledge base articles:
    * [[Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems]]
    * [[Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL]]
Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!
    Thank you.

  • Mountain lion and imac intel core duo 2

    hello
i have an imac 8,1 intel core duo 2 -2,66gz with IOS 10.5.8 can i install Mountain Lion?
    thank you
    BJ

System requirements can be found here:
    http://www.apple.com/osx/how-to-upgrade/
You will first need to get your system to Mac OS X 10.6 so you have access to the Mac App Store, the only place from which Mountain Lion is available. The 10.6 installer disk can be purchased from the online Apple Store.
    Regards.

  • Will Leopard Run on my Core Duo Macbook?

Will my 1.83ghz core duo macbook run leopard flawlessly? I have 1.5gb of ram and an 80gb HD

    Hi Dafoo,
I cannot say it for sure since 10.5.x is not released yet and only apple insider that might already try it on original macbook.
But based on my experience upgrade from 8 to 9 to os X 10.1, up to 10.4, apple os will backward compatible several version or product line before.
And considering yours is still the active product line version 1 of 2, good chance your macbook will run 10.5.x flawlessly too.
    Good Luck.
ps: check this link, all demo runs on white macbook:

  • Lion for Imac G5 Intel Core Duo

I understand that upgrading to Lion needs Intel chipset. I have an Imac G5 Core Duo (currently running OSX 10.5.8), but not the Core 2 Duo that's listed in the Lion specs. Will Lion work with Intel Core Duo? I realize that I'll need to put Snow Leopard on first.
    Thx / AWL

Lion won't work on a G5 or Core Duo Mac.

  • Upgrade to Lion if running Intel Core Duo?

I have a MacBook with the Intel Core Duo (not the Intel Core 2 Duo).  I started to upgrade to Lion and Step 1 says to make sure your Mac can run Lion.  The Intel Core Duo is not mentioned.  Does any one know if Lion can be installed at all?  I have had a Mobile Me account for about 8 years and I am trying to transition to iCloud.  What's a person suppose to do?
    Thanks!

    Lion needs Core2Duo.
You need to buy new equipment.
    Sorry.

  • I have Intel Core Duo, will Lion work on it if I decide to upgrade?

My MacBook Pro is run on Intel Core Duo.  Albeit, I have Snow Leopard 10.6.8, can I upgrade to Lion?

Unless your have a need for iCloud, I would stay with Snow Leopard.
If you need iCloud, then you have no option but to replace your MacBook Pro with a more recent model.
iCloud requires Lion and Lion needs at least a Core 2 Duo to install.

  • Will 1.86ghz Intel Core Duo Mac Mini run the IPhone SDK?

I kinda asked this as a follow up in another thread. But I really should have asked it in a separate thread here.
Will a 1.86ghz Intel Core Duo Mac Mini run the IPhone SDK?
Additionally, it comes with 10.4 and IPhone needs 10.5.4 or better. Can I download and upgrade to 10.5.4 free from Apple or will I have to purchase the upgrade?
    Jerry

The hardware is more than sufficient. You will have to buy 10.5 (Apple does not have upgrade pricing).

  • OS X Lion - intel core duo

    HI
Sorry for posting this but I am not the most technically minded.
    I have a mac mini running Mac OS X (10.6.7), 1.66GHz Intel Core Duo  - 2 GB.
Apple state Your Mac must have an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7 or Xeon processor to run Lion.
Is Intel Core Duo different to Intel Core 2 Duo, therfore I will be unable to upgrade past the Snow Leopard version I am currently running.
    thanks
    Lauren

OK, I may have a solution. It worked only in Developer Previews on Core Duos, but since it just tricks the installer and you now have a Core2Duo it should work...
Use the same method as there. http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1107457
You should do this manipulation on the installation disk image of Lion, just check how to extract it from the installer.
Use this to extract the disk image: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kPXe0HeD-cY&feature
Copy InstallESD.dmg to your desktop mount it and do the workaround I just mentioned (delete the .plist file, see the first link) on the image... Then, just burn the image to a DVD or to a external drive or USB-Stick (follow the instructions in the video I just mentioned)
Finally, on the DVD or drive you just created, click on the Lion Installer once it is mounted in the Finder and try to install it. This should work.
Try this workaround instead of the one I mentioned before (the one with the hard drive cloning) and backup your data instead it doesn't work, so you can still go back to Snow Leopard.
Can you please notify me if it works, because my sister has an old mini too, so if it works I may take it apart and put a Core2Duo in it and to the same trick too. I'm waiting for feedback, since i don't want to buy a processor if this doesn't work...

  • I'm investigating whether I can take on 'Lion' when it's released. The information states that your mac needs Intel Core 2 Duo. Is this the same as '2 GHz Intel Core Duo' which is what it actually states my mac has?

I could not agree more! My MBP 2007 Intel Core Duo has had its logic board replaced not to long ago (DVI port died). The original hard drive is running great and I am running Snow Leopard wonderfully.
I was amped during the keynote and am really looking forward to Lion. I know the community is working hard to uncover a workaround because at present time, the solution (by new!) is not a worthy one. Especially when there is literally, nothing wrong with my existing machine.
Apple, please ensure Lion will be available for Intel Core Duo machines, we are not that old! The closed architecture approach produces quality hardware. 4 years is a toddler perhaps teenager when it comes to apple hardware and technology. I predict I have at least 3-4 more years left in my current MBP 2007 machine.
    Much Love, Apple!

I have a 2006 MacBookPro 1,2 IntelCorDuo 2.16GHz. All software is up to date, is it safe for me to switch to Lion OSX?

    Can't be done.
You need an Intel Core 2 Duo for Lion, not an Intel Core Duo.

  • HT4759 Will iCloud work if have 4th gen. iPod touch (iOS 6) but an iMac running OS X v.10.6.8 (1.83GHz Intel Core Duo processor prevents Lion upgrade-according to Apple)?

Will iCloud work when iMac (1.83 GHz. Intel Core Duo) is running Mac OS X 10.6.8 with 4th gen. iPod touch (iOS 6) because unable to upgrade to Lion due to processor's inablit to meet Apple's specifications for Lion? My family had three iPod touch (iSO 6) devices and currently use iClou, but set it up with a Macbook Air using Lion- but yesterday it died. Is there any way to retain the use of oPod touh devices, iTunes purchases, and iCloud services (and the huge amount of money spent on the) if not able to use the Macbook Air? I know the iMac is "old" but do not have thousands of dollars to purchase new computer at this time.

10.7.2 or later is required to use iCloud on the computer. Your iPod Touch, however, would have full use of iCloud.
