Will Lion speed up or slow down my machine?

My Macbook has been upgraded to have 4GB of RAM a while ago and has been running fairly well for a long time.
However, recently when too much is 'going on', rending out of AE and looking on the net, the system crashes and relogs me in! Very frustrating. This keeps happening and my Mac is now a lot slower then it used to be!
How do I fix this? I'm wondering if installing Lion will help?
Also, will FCP and Sony Clip Browser work OK with this software?

Aloha Linc. I just read an old response you posted about adding Lion before fixing the "misconfiguration". I just posted a question thought you might be able to help. I have a Mac osx snow leapard, version 10.6.8, processor 3.06 GHz, memory 4GB 1067 MHz DDR3.
It is 4yrs old and is going slow. Due to? age, solar power, wifi service, or life in the jungle. Do I need to do some kind of reg. maintenance?

Hi, i have a macbook pro 13 inch. Its my first mac and still figuring some stuff out but i want to be able to go on youtube, but when i pull up youtube it says i require adobe flash player; is there a way to get youtube videos without downloading flash. Speeding up and slowing down still images

I still am unable how to figure this one out. I have found a slider bar under the art/clip. I right clicked, turned on time graph, moved this points around and still see no difference in sppeding up or slowing down. I am in the right place, close? In the motion window I see Time Remap, see points have changed but am unable to move this points from here, I can move other points like scale, rotate. In Time Remap I see a speed section but this is greyed out at constant speed.
I want to be able to have a still begin or end with a speed up or slow down as I pan or zoom.
Any suggestions?

Speed up and slow down tracks

I need a program that I can speed up and slow down tracks with. Is that possible in Logic Express? I know that it can be done in Logic Pro, however I don't need quite that much program.

xcuse me if i jump in here without answering the original question, but that brings up something similar to me:
if i have a setup in the arrange with a combination of various audio-files, apple loops and midi-tracks, and i want to record something additional into that (midi over connected edirol midi-keyboard): can i slow down the whole song, just to make it easier to record the new part without destructively destroying anything?
and after that just go back to the original song-tempo?

GE60 fan problem. speeds up and slows down constantly [EC reset done]

My model is GE60 OCN and bios and EC is the newest ones for win7 embeded on msi website.
I have the same problem with others if you search here 'ge60 fan'.
The temperature between 50~60℃ the fans runs slow and really quite.
But if the temperature goes down under about 46℃, it speed up and slows down constantly and it is annoying and much noiser.
I think msi should provide new EC firmware for this. Even the temperature is low, it annoys and nosier than when the temperature is between 50~60℃.
Please check this problem and provide new EC firmware for fan policy.

Slow Outlook can be also harmful for your database and there are numbers of factor which slow down the MS-Outlook like:
* Third Party Plug-ins
* Slow internet connection
* Antivirus/ Firewall Programs
* Corruption or Error within Outlook
So always try to open Microsoft Outlook in safe mode whenever you stuck in such problems.
How to optimize Outlook performance:
* By Disabling add-ins
* Check default account settings

Region 2 Pal DVDs
There are some foreign movies I have been wanting to watch, but they are not available in NTSC Region 1 format. I just read that computers are region agnostic and should be able to play a DVD from any region. Then I read conflicting reports- desktop vs laptop, newer versions of Windows Media, etc. It would be wonderful to be able to watch PAL 2 DVD's from Europe/ with English subtitles on my Lenovo. (I know my DVD player can't handle it.) The experts on this forum should know better than anyone what my Lenovo can do. Some of these DVD's are kind of expensive. I don't want to buy, until I know for sure that I can play them. Any thoughts? Can my Lenovo handle it?

The monitor is slowing down the machine, 23inch

The monitor seems to be slowing down the machine. This is the reason we upgraded from a dual G4. When we work on 16 bit images it goes very very slow, but not if I change to a CRT monitor. What do we need to upgrade? Add another 2 gigs of ram for a total of 4 or get a 512mb video card.

I can tell you now, it's not your display that causing the problem. I have a Mac mini driving a 24" display (1920 x 1200 resolution) that has the Intel integrated GMA950 graphics processor with 64MB system memory which is the lowest of the low and it drives it just fine.
Most likely you have a RAM problem as in you don't have enough of it. If you are using Adobe Photoshop CS2 I would suggest a minimum of 2GB RAM with an aim for 4GB RAM.

Will moving from Tiger to Leopard speed up or slow down my Dual 1.25GHz G4?

I'm currently running Mac OS X 10.4.11. If I upgrade to 10.5.8 (which I believe to be the final version of Leopard) do people feel that overall my Mac will run (& feel as if it's running) more quickly or more slowly?
My experience with Macs (17 years worth) tells me that, other things being equal, a newer OS normally slows down a given set of hardware. Also, according to the graphic on this page, the guts of Leopard appear to be very similar to Tiger. However I'm hoping against the odds that in this case Leopard might give me a speed boost.
I can't think of any features that Leopard has that Tiger doesn't that I'd like to use or that I feel I'm missing out on. It's just a possible speed boost I'm after, along with compatibility with the odd utility etc. that requires 10.5 or higher.
My main application usage at the moment is as follows: Microsoft Entourage 2008 (version 12.2.7) for email (although this may change - see my Topic here), Safari 4.1.3 for web browsing (& also occasionally Firefox 3.6.12), iTunes 9.2, QuickTime Player 7.6.4, and also more demanding creative software - primarily Adobe's Creative Suite CS2 (although I'll probably be upgrading to CS3 in the next few months) and occasionally things like Final Cut Pro 5.0.4.

Leopard makes a few improvements in performance over Tiger especially in the graphics and video area. Otherwise you would not notice any changes in speed.
