if you have lion can you tell me if lion will work on my mac up there ^ I put all that you need to know to know if I can run it on my macbook pro!

First of all you do not have a PowerPC Mac as stated in the title of this thread. You have a MacBook Pro which has an Intel processor.
Having said that your MBP is not capable of running Lion because while the processor is Intel, it is Intel Core Duo.
Lion requires a Intel Core 2 Duo instead.

As long as it meets the following requirements:
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
    2GB of memory
    OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
    7GB of available space

The instillation says that it is successful, however when using Safari I'm informed I do not have flash player installed. When I check the hard drive, flash player in no where to be found. I have tried all of the troubleshooting from the Adobe website, and I am still stumped. I was able to get the Flash Player to run in firefox 5.0, but not Safari.
Please Help!!!! I have searched the discussion boards for days now in my spare time and have not been able to find an answer.
I am not the most savvy person with computers, what am I missing here??

    In my Library/Internet Plug-ins folder I have a file named Flash Player.plugin (it's 22.8 MB however, not 23.9mb) and another named flashplayer.xpt (it's 4 KB however, not856 bytes).
I am unable to open the Plug-Ins menu (the browser pops up but wont load)...is there another way to check for Shockwave Flash?? When I do a search for "Shockwave" on my hard drive I do find a plug-in named "DirectorShockwave.plugin" (76 KB)
Also...The "Open using Rosetta" checkbox was already unchecked

  • Will InDesign4 work with the newest MAC operating system -- OS10.9 I think.

Will InDesign4 work with the newest MAC operating system -- OS10.9 I think.  My OS crashed and they have to wipe the computer to put on a new system. I don't want the latest system if it won't run CS4. I bought Creative Suite Cloud version and had nothing but problems with it and the system I was running. In fact all the problems with my computer started just after I put CS Cloud version on it.

Thanks for answering. I'll try to be more specific in my question.

  • I got a Macbook OS X Snow Leopard Installation disc. Will it work on a Desktop Mac too? I want to upgrade to Lion

I got the OSX Install Dvd that came with my Macbook with the Snow Leopard OS. It says it is a "Macbook" disk so thats my question...
Will it work with a Desktop Computer?
Its a Leopard 10.5.8, it has an Intel Core Duo
I want to update it to lion.
    Thanks

No. DVD that come with Mac are are specific to the hardware of the Mac they shipped with and will not work on another. If you wish to upgrade you must buuy the Snow Leopard DVD.
A Mac with an Intel Core Duo processor can't be upgraded to Lion. The Mac must have an Intel Core 2 Duo processor in order for Lion to install.

  • Will one download of os lion work on both my mac books

If I download os Lion on my MaBook Pro will it work on my iMac?

You need not PAY twice, provided you are willing to use the same Apple_ID for both Macs.
But Installing it on multiple computers is a bit complex:
    • You can make a DVD from the download (after the download is complete and BEFORE you Install) and use it to install on the second Mac. Once Lion is Installed, it is too late, because the download is deleted during the Installation process.
    • You can buy the US$69 USB drive from the Apple Store, and use it to install on all your Home Macs.
    • You can download again on the second Mac.

What happens to the IMAP relay, will we lesser Mac mortals get mail through the Mail application still?
In addition to Roger Wilmut1's excellent advice regarding iCloud Mail you can use Soho Organizer on Leopard for iCloud contacts and calendars as well. Soho Organizer will subscribe to iCloud giving you access to contacts, calendars and tasks, unfortunately it's $99.00, but it works extremely well. (good enough to justify the $99 even if you have Lion)

  • Does Lion work with Office for Mac?

Does Lion work ok with Office for Mac? I have the latest version of Office for Mac, but it is the cornerstone of my working life and I would hate to upgrade and find that it doesn't work.

Yes, Office 2011 works perfectly on Lion.  Only versions 2004 and older have a problem as Rosetta is no longer supported.
    I hope this helps.

  • Will Lion work ok with Logic Pro and 3rd party plugins?

Will Lion OS work ok with Logic Pro and 3rd party plugins?
Any help would be much appreciated,
    Regards James

Well, Sylenth I know... works under Logic Pro 9 and it should be found by left clicking and holding... the Software Insturment Button (The one just below where it says i/o and then scrolling down in the menu that appears to the Instrument section below the Apple Plugins...
I don't know about Massive 1.01 because i think that one is not Logic 9 compatible because it is so old.... and I have never used Vanguard... but according to it's specs the latest version should be found in the same place as Sylenth...
Both Sylenth and Vanguard are 32bit plugins...
...and.. it probably doesn't help that you are using older/not 'legal' copies of these plugins.... *ahem*

The DVD might boot on the Mac Pro but if it does the installer will not let you install on the Mac Pro.
There is a possible workaround that is often used, and at one point in the past was even recommended as a solution by Apple.
Boot the Mac Pro in FireWire Target Disk Mode.
Connect the Mac Pro via FireWire to the Mac mini.
Boot the Mac mini from the DVD
Install on to the Mac Pro hard disk which will show up as a FireWire external drive.
Boot the Mac mini from the Mac Pro drive which will show up as a FireWire external drive. You can do this by holding down the Option/Alt key.
Run the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Server Combo update.
    Shutdown the Mac mini.
Power down the Mac Pro by pressing briefly the power button.
Disconnect the Mac Pro from the Mac mini
Boot the Mac Pro as normal.
Hopefully it will boot normally but now with Mac OS X 10.6.8 Server installed on it.

  • Will Lion work with older programs

I have lots of older programs including Adobe CS, Adobe CS3, Eudora 6.2, etc. that work fine on my iMac running 10.6.8 with i3 processor, will they work with Lion if I upgrade? Just checking before I download the update. Thanks for any info.

CS3 runs but reportedly has issues. Adobe CS, the original version, will not work, nor will any application that is PowerPC only, since Lion no longer supports PowerPC applications. If you don't know what apps are PowerPC only, Get Info on the app, and in the Kind section, it will say. Apps that say either "Intel" or "Universal" at least have the potential to run, though there are other factors involved in Lion compatibility. The RoaringApps site is a useful resource:
    http://roaringapps.com/apps:table
though the most definitive method of confirming compatibility is to check with the developer.

  • Dreamweaver CS3 will it work with Contribute CS4 Mac 2 PC

Hi I asked this same question in the contribute area of the
forum bu then thought t may be best to ask here as I wanted to know
if Contribute CS4 will work with Dreamweaver CS3?
I take it for granted that it will, I have a mac and will
create a site with Dreamweaver CS3 and then have the client who has
a PC to buy Contribute CS4, will this work okay or do I need to
create the site with a PC and with Dreamweaver CS4?

I just read on the adobe website that:
    "Contribute CS4 works with Adobe Dreamweaver® CS4
    templates"
Does that mean it wont work with Dreamweaver CS3 templates?

  • I-pod Hi Fi - will it work with a desktop Mac (6 months old) for DVD's etc

    Hi,
I am a confused person trying to buy the right Xmas present. He has a video i-pod (one year old) and brand new shuffle for his stocking. However the old speakers on his 6 month old desktop (no idea what model) have blown so I was thinking of getting him the i-pod Hi Fi but will it work with his desktop too? Do I need to buy any other cables etc? If not, any recommendations as what would work well for both but not take up too much space?
    Thanks.
    i-pod Hi Fi

    Just an additional information
The connection will be as follows:-
    a) The iPod Video plug on the top of the iPod HiFi (docking)
    b) He can use his audio cable between his blowed old speakers and computer, for connection between his computer with the back of iPod HiFi (audio input)
Then he can select between the playback of these two devices by press and holding the Menu button on the remote.
Regarding the new shuffle, you can buy a mini-jack splitter and plug it on the back of the iPod HiFi (audio input), one connect to his computer and one with his shuffle, of course you can connect without this splitter, he can either use it for computer or shuffle.
Note : iPod Hi-Fi has a digital/analog audio input port. You can use it to play music from an iPod that doesn’t have a dock connector or from other audio devices, such as a CD player, stereo receiver, or computer. If you have an AirPort Express Base Station, you can connect it to iPod Hi-Fi and play music from a computer in another room using AirTunes. You connect audio devices or an older iPod using an audio cable with a standard 3.5 mm stereo miniplug. For higher-quality sound, you can connect an optical digital audio device using an S/PDIF optical digital audio cable with a Mini-Toslink connector.
