Will Logic Pro 10 support plug-in selection by type rather than manufacturer ?

Any comment would be just guessing or wishing, because there is no Logic Pro 10.

    hi there guys,
will logic pro x run on my mac mini dual core intel i5 with 4gb of ram and mountain lion ?
I'm not sure if my machine is 64 bit - it is the current model base mac mini.
Many thanks for any help you can offer !

SkiJumptoes is right. 4GB is not enough to comfortably run Logic X.
Your Mac Mini will need DDR3 SODIMM RAM. That website seems incredibly steep though. I guess that's the price of finding it for you. You're better off going to any below:

  • Will Logic Pro 9 run on a 2007 4GB ram, 320GB hard drive, Intel 2 duo 2ghz mac mini?

"Will Logic Pro 9 run on a 2007 4GB ram, 320GB hard drive, Intel 2 duo 2ghz mac mini?"
I am looking for the cheapest way possible to run Logic Pro 9 and will purchase a second hand mac mini if it will run the software.
    Thank you!

Yes it will.. I would recommend you use the combination of  Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and LPv9.1.5 (or 9.1.8 if you have to..) with that particular hardware to get the best performance out of it... I would not recommend running any OS X version higher than 10.6.8 as each new version of OS X from then onwards.. placed a bigger performance hit on the hardware... and frankly, less stability with LP9.
As to how well it will run on that hardware.. will more depend on the sort of loads you place on it.. depending on the type and content of the music you wish to compose... It will run and you should be able to create reasonable sized projects.. but again, it all depends on the plugins used.. the number of them... the number of tracks and so on... so to give a more precise answer is difficult.

  • Will Premiere Pro CC support Cinema DNG files?

Will Premiere Pro CC support Cinema DNG files?

That would be nice, but my guess is that if support was built in, Adobe would have made mention of it as a new feature.
Given that Blackmagic is releasing a $1000 DC camera that records CinemaDNG to SD cards, it sure would be nice if PP cold work with them natively.  People, please keep filing that feature request.

  • Will Logic Pro....be running through rosetta on INTEL MACS?

    Hi Apple,
    Question,
Will Logic Pro have to run through rosetta (or similar) to use the INTEL Macs? Or will a new Logic Release that takes full advantage of INTEL be available imminently?
    thanx,
    SvK

If you are a registered owner of Logic 7.1 today, you will have to pay US$50 plus shipping to get the updated version that is Intel Mac native when it is made available after March 31st, 2006.

  • Will Logic Pro accomodate a M-Audio Fast Track Ultra?, Will Logic Pro accomodate a M-Audio Fast Track Ultra?

Will Logic Pro accomodate a M-Audio Fast Track Ultra?, Will Logic Pro accomodate a M-Audio Fast Track Ultra?

M-Audio is a bit slow getting drivers out but they eventually get it right so take heart... even companies like Focusrite don't have 100% compatible drivers for some of their hardware.
Not sure if -all- of the recent USB changes were released on time. I'm regularly in touch with a couple of plugin developers and both say Apple is notorious for last minute changes. Don't know if it's true or not.

  • Where does Logic Pro 7 install plug-ins?

Apologies, but I cannot find the answer to this question. Thanks in advance for any help!
Where does Logic Pro 7 install plug-ins by default on the computer? I have searched all through the Macintosh HD Library and with Spotlight to no avail.

Logic (and most other DAW host) applications deliberately do not make their plugins phycially separate AU (or VST) plugins that get installed in the Compononets folder. They do not want you to be able to use then with any other program. They are "inetgrated" into the code, and so not usable outside the app. Or the idea is, you don't get the plugins unless you buy the host program (and it is also a way to lock you into using their DAW software).
There was once I think talk of making some Logic plugins available as a 3rd party package, but that may have been before the Apple acquisition. So if you want your work to be portable to other DAW programs, then you are better off not using any of Logic's built-in plugins (and other 3rd party plugins do what Logic's plugins do, often better, though obviously you must pay for 3rd party plugins).

  • Will logic pro 9 ( work with....

    newbie here..will logic pro 9.0 or 9.1 work on a G5 2.0 dual with 4 meg ram..on leopard 10.5.8

9.0.* will, 9.1 won't. Both are officially unsupported on PPC, 9.0.* versions run fine though. 9.1 won't, it cannot be installed on PPC, only on Intel.

  • Is it advisable to use your i Pad plugged into an electrical outlet rather than the Battery in use?

Is it advisable to use your iPad plugged into and electrical outlet rather than using the battery all the time?

I use my iPad while it is plugged in and I use it on battery power as well.
I use my iPad all day long at work on battery power and then come home and plug it to recharge. Typically I will use it the rest of the night while its plugged in. When the battery is fully charged, the charging process stops and you can continue to use it while it is plugged in and it will not overcharge.
It will not hurt to use it while it is plugged in, but the beauty of having a better powered device is that it is mobile and you don't have to plug it in to be able to use it virtually all day long.

  • How will Logic Pro X run with a 2006 iMac (Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.16 GHz, 4GB ram)?

I have a 2006 iMac 2.16 GHz, 4GB ram, Intel Core 2 Duo. I am not planning on using plug-ins, I am a beginning artist and Logic Pro seems to have more than what I need. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Logic Pro 9 - Not able to select plugins via Inserts / Audio Units.

    Hi
    I have the program Logic Pro 9 version 9.1.6 (1700.43) (32- bit)
I use plugins like for example SampleTank and Realstrat . Everything has until recently worked fine, but I now have a problem.
When I choose a plugin I usually put the mouse on the box 'Inserts', press ALT and then a menu appears. Here I, among many menu items, at the bottom see ' Audio Units ' . At this point I usually could choose, for example SampleTank , .. but now I can only choose Apple features. That is to say - I can not choose my plugins in this menu anymore.
I've been around online and search . Here I was recommended to delete a file called com.apple.audiounits.cache . I have done this, but the problem is not solved.
I also have updated the operating system with latest MacOSX10.7.5 update . This has not helped .
All my plugins are also visible in Logic Audio Units Manager, and I can see that they are being loaded when Logic starts up.
The plugins also still works in projects created within the problem occurred. That is, - I can open for example SampleTank in a track in a project that is created and a half years ago.
So the exact problem is that I, in new projects, is not able to select plugins via Inserts / Audio Units .
Can you help me solve this problem?
    Regards Henrik

I do not think it is very user friendly, I must say.
For users of this system, it must surely be obvious that you very often have to choose musical instruments, also from instrument plug-ins.
Yes, often. That is why it is very obvious and simple for any experienced user.
    Hekke44 wrote:
Why on earth is it so complicated to choose a musical instrument? If you are not currently using this system every day, you forget the such a detail about having to press down for several seconds to select an instrument.
I do not think it is complicated at all. And you do not have to press down for several seconds. I just timed, it is 0.4 seconds of clickholding. The holding is functional:  you won't load a new instrument (and possiblly loose any work you had done on your sound) just because you accidentally clicked on a slot.
    Hekke44 wrote:
There should be a nice big green button on the screen that read 'Select musical instrument', - then a menu where you can choose whether it should be one of Logics musical instruments, or a plugin instrument.
    It would be user-friendly.
What is your view about these things?
You are basically saying it should be dumbed down to the level of some "any-kid-or-adult-idiot-can-use-it-out-of-the-box" smartphone app. I think you are overlooking that this is a Pro program, not a toy. I think you try to blame the software for the fact that you didn't know how to operate it. You're avoiding responsability. That's my view.

  • Will Logic Pro X allow me to whistle a melody, convert that into MIDI information, and turn those notes into chords?

I'd love to be able to whistle or hum a melody, convert that recording into MIDI data, and then have those notes play back as guitar chords. Is this possible "out of the box"?
How much would be automated, and how much work would need to be done by hand?
    How about with Plug-Ins?
Also, does Logic Pro X offer a one finger chord option for playing MIDI controllers? Thanks!

good for you, Data... so you already know that, even if it would work, CORRECTING the automatically generated transcription takes longer than just writing it by hand, then inputing it into the computer... How about the joy of finding just the right changes to go with your great composition? The computer is dumb, it only comes up with what was programed into it, and that, at best, is mediocre. If one is happy with this, it only shows one's insecurity of the little knowledge that one might have. And definitely kills the creative initiative.
Then, if you sincerily think that studying music is not necessary to make music... I really feel sorry for you... and I feel sorry for Music too. Or, maybe my cat is a great composer, and I didn't know it?...:-)

  • Logic Pro "not supported on this architecture"!!!

    Hello All,
I have been using Logic for a couple of years and in the last few months I upgraded from Logic Pro 7 to Logic Studio. It worked fine but.... I have just switched to a new iMac and installed the upgrade (with dongle from Pro 7) but after hours of installation Logic won't run reporting that it I can't open the application because it 'is not supported on this architecture'. Strangely Mainstage and Soundtrack Pro seem quite happy to open. Is this just a case of re-registering (in which case how do i unregister my old mac?) or is something else amiss.
Any help would be much appreciated. I am desperate to get up and running again.
    Many Thanks
    Nick

Do you know what you did to cause the problem?
I ask because my parents had a similar problem with both Mail and Address Book. I don't know what caused it, but I eventually had to reinstall those two apps with Pacifist.
My mother said she was deleting things that she thought she didn't need. My father thinks there was a short between the keyboard and chair. I tend to side with my father on this one.
