Will Logic Pro X work well with OS X Yosemite?

I use Logic Pro 8 and am thinking of upgrading to Logic Pro X 10.1.1.  I am currently using Mac Pro operating on an OS X 10.8.5 which is not current enough.  However, in the past I had a nightmare experience of upgrading to OS X Yosemite and not being able to use my sound card and other disasters.  Will the new Logic really work with Yosemite without glitches?

Will Premiere Pro CC work OK with Nvidia GeForce GTX 765M?

This laptop I am on right vnow has a n nVidai GTX 765M and it works beautifully on Premiere CS6, CC and CC 2014.  You do have to add it to the Adobe file "cuda_supported_cards.txt file or simp[ly delete it.  I hope you know that you have to be plugged in to the AC line to successfully what to edit with a laptop.  Also you can improve the GPU performance if you reset the memory clock on the GPU to 1500 MHz from the default 1000 MHz.  It is because nVidia.slows down the clock to conserve battery.  If you register on the site you can see my results on our Premiere Pro BenchMark (PPBM) site.

  • Will logic pro 9 ( work with....

    newbie here..will logic pro 9.0 or 9.1 work on a G5 2.0 dual with 4 meg ram..on leopard 10.5.8

9.0.* will, 9.1 won't. Both are officially unsupported on PPC, 9.0.* versions run fine though. 9.1 won't, it cannot be installed on PPC, only on Intel.

2G of RAM is a bit low.
2 GB is a bit lean, but LP 8 should be OK-ish with it. I used to run LP 8 on a G4 with only 1.8 GB. I would recommend the OP to install Menumeters, to keep an eye on RAM use. I ran Tiger (10.4.11), Lion probably has a bigger RAM footprint. If at all possible, go to 4 or even 8 GB.

There are quite a few posts here on the subject already. Do a search.
As ever, some folks have had a better experience than others.

  • Will a Lenovo LI2821 work well with a new Mac Pro?

I'd like a 4k monitor or better for my new Mac Pro Computer. I'd also like it to have a Web Cam. I found the Lenovo LI2821... but I'm concerned because it is much cheaper than other monitors. Anyone have experience (or things I should be aware of )with this monitor and the new Mac Pro?

The image is display through an LCD screen on all non-plasma screens. LED refers to the backlight source. In the past florescent lights was used but now better one have LED backlight like the LG.
On drawback of yours is that the screen type is TN which is old technology
IPS (In-plane switching) is a screen technology used for liquid crystal displays (LCDs). It was designed to solve the main limitations of the twisted nematic field effect (TN) matrix LCDs in the late 1980s, such as relatively high response time, strong viewing angle dependence and low-quality color reproduction.
    My 24 "Dell 4K uses AH-IPS
mproved colour accuracy, increased resolution and PPI, and greater light transmission for lower power consumption.[8]

  • Will Logic pro 9 work on Macbook Pro 10.8.3 ?

I have just got a new Macbook pro and want to install Logic 9 on it as my old Logic 8 discs do not install.
    Are these two compatible?
    Thanks

    Hi
The problem with Logic (8) Studio disks is that the Installer will not run as it is PPC only.
It is possible to install and run Logic 8 on Mountain Lion using Pacifist to do the installation

Alternatively, buy Logic 9 from the AppStore

  • Will the magic mouse work well with my iMac G5?

I was wondering before i buy the Magic mouse cause my mighty mouse is getting old, if it will work with my iMac?
i did upgrade to leopard so i was wondering if it will work?
    thanks!

Based on the system requirements, on the product listing page at the Apple Store
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB829LL/A
it will work. Scrolling works with Leopard. +Momentum Scrolling+ makes the scroll continue a bit after you stop the motion with your finger, like the action has "momentum." Snow Leopard is required for that feature to work.

  • Wha wha pedal work well with GarageBand but don't want to work with logic pro 9.1.8 on my MBPro end 2011

Install on MacBook Pro end of 2011 with logic Pro 9.1.8 and Apogee GIO interface guitar
The wha wha pedal work well with GarageBand but not working with Logic Pro
Only the red light turning on and off at the screnn of the MBPro and on my Apogee GIO (Guitar Interface Midi) switch button but the effect wha wha won't work.
    HOPE YOU UNDERSTAND MY ENGLISH

    Pancenter...
Yes... but I have come across some setups that came with a native SL (and even one Lion!) installation.. that somehow had a corrupted or older Prokit installed for some unknown reason... and given it's a quick fix to try.. I thought I'd mention it..
I frankly don't think it is entirely a Prokit issue itself, but it wouldn't do any harm to try and install v7 just in case it is part of the problem...
    +1 on the UAD stuff....
Also, at the time it crashed... according to the logs...the OP was running Ableton Live at the same time, presumably rewired with Logic... so add all that together with UAD plugins... and that's quite a load on the system...
Finally in thread 32 there is a weird exception msg relating to the Trash2 plugin.. that I haven't seen before...
    Thread 32:
    0   libSystem.B.dylib
    0x94c29afa mach_msg_trap + 10
    1   libSystem.B.dylib

    4   libSystem.B.dylib
    0x94c570de thread_start + 34
That might be nothing... but as i said, I haven't seen that one before and given what else is going on.. it might be involved too... or nothing to do with that at all!

  • What external drives work well with a late 2011 MacBook Pro?  I ask because I just found out the hard way that a Samsung EVO 840 does not.  Also should I avail myself of something that works with Thunderbolt or Firewire?

What external drives work well with a late 2011 MacBook Pro (I7, Lion OS) apart from my Kingston flash and USB drive, and the SD drives that I use in my cameras and recording devices?  I ask because I just found out the hard way that a Samsung EVO 840 does not.  Also, should I avail myself of something that works with the Thunderbolt or Firewire connections?  I'm looking to back up music and video files created and/or processed in Logic Pro and the Adobe Production Premium software suite (Premier Pro, After Effects, Audition, etc).

Hmm, not sure what problems you had installing this drive. The review here gives it good marks for Mac:
    http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Electronics-EVO-Series-2-5-Inch-MZ-7TE1T0BW/produc t-reviews/B00E3W16OU
There does seem to be a lot of prep to make it work:
"1. Preparation to install your new shiny SSD
1.a You will need a migration tool (I used the Sabrent kit USB 3.0 to Sata that was suggested in these review) see link http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DQJME7Y/ref=oh_details_o03_s01_i01?ie=UTF8&p sc=1
1.b You will need to download a trim enabler (mid 2012 macbooks only support native trim with apple brand ssd's) I recommend going to cindori.org and downloading trim enabler version 3.xx. You can do this step before or after the OS migration
1.c You cannot use the Samsung SSD migration software *don't worry Mac has its own imaging/migration utility*"
    Also in those reviews:
" Only down side when using this product in a Mac Mini is you will be required to download and install Trim Enabler so that your drive performs optimally on your Mac device. This is an Apple issue, not Samsung, but it is an extra step you will have to take after you install the hard drive, and any time you perform an OS upgrade." He rant's on.
Personally I only deal with OWC:
    http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/SSD/OWC/
They are very knowledgable and if there's a problem they will gladly take back the item. (Never happened to me yet - 8 years and counting).
Just upgraded my 13" MBP 2011 to 120 GB for $79. Adobe CS 6 opens in 3 seconds! Awesome!
When I was in Chicago I had a pro photographer for a client. She wound up with 4 internal drives in her Pro, 4 external drives and an dual array locked in a steel vault in the basement. All from OWC. OK she was a bit paranoid. Great client though.
As far as value for price:
    http://eshop.macsales.com/item/OWC/MES3FH7500G/
    500 GB for $130.
However as far as reliability is concerned:
    http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2014/01/30/are-ssds-reliable/
    http://www.extremetech.com/computing/173887-ssd-stress-testing-finds-intel-might -be-the-only-reliable-drive-manufacturer
So sudden power loss is an issue with SSDs.
Personally I'd go with a moderate sized SSD internally and a conventional external for backup. An array would be the most reliable.

  • Controller that works well with Logic??

Can anyone tell me if the M-audio icontrol will work with Logic 8? I see that it is designed for Garageband. I would love to have real controls for record, play, stop, etc... If there is a controller out there that works well with Logic, please let me know.
    Thanks,

Potential warning on the Edirol keyboards: I bought one of their earlier ones (PCR50, I think), and the keys have mostly gone bad after a couple years, despite being treated very well. There are a lot of people over at Harmony Central reporting the same problem. This new unit may have solved the problem, don't know, but I personally will think more than twice before buying another Edirol keyboard.

  • Will Logic Pro X run on the latest MBA with i5 and 8GB RAM?

    Hi,
want to buy the new Logic Pro X but I´m not sure if it will rum smoothly on my MBA 2013 with i5 and 8GB Ram.
I saw some very promising posts on the i-net regarding Logic Pro 9 which seems to run nice. But does the latest version of Logic require more hardware power?
Can anybody share any experience on this?
    thanks!

Logic Pro X has got some system requirements, and your MacBook meets all of these requirements > https://www.apple.com/logic-pro/specs/
Have a look at the Logic forum and read experiences. Also, there are reviews over the Internet, but if Logic Pro 9 works properly in that MacBook, Logic Pro X will also run properly

  • Will logic pro x run on my mac mini dual core intel i5 with 4gb of ram and mountain lion ?

    hi there guys,
will logic pro x run on my mac mini dual core intel i5 with 4gb of ram and mountain lion ?
I'm not sure if my machine is 64 bit - it is the current model base mac mini.
Many thanks for any help you can offer !
    Simon

SkiJumptoes is right. 4GB is not enough to comfortably run Logic X.
Your Mac Mini will need DDR3 SODIMM RAM. That website seems incredibly steep though. I guess that's the price of finding it for you. You're better off going to any below:
