Will LR5 benefit of graphic cards acceleration with the new MacPro ?

Well, although LR5 is a great improvement of speed, the dev. team should try to work on MF files such as from the Pentax 645D… any speed improvement would be much appreciated, especially with dust removal and masking tools.
My actual configuration is not so bad, but I can't see how to get more speed from it :

  • Will my LED 27 Cinema Display work with the new Mac Pro?

Will my LED 27 Cinema Display work with the new Mac Pro?

Mini DisplayPort (like 27" LED Cinema Display) is a direct subset of ThunderBolt (like Mac pro late 2013). It plugs right in and the display portion "just works", no adapters required.

  • Will my 27inch LED cinema display work with the 2014 MacPro?

I have two 27 inch LED cinema displays I bought in 2010 I think. I want to know if I can use both displays with the new cylindrical MacPro? My displays have mini display port connection and are non thunderbolt. I know that I cant daisy chain the monitors because they are NOT thunderbolt, but will I be able to connect both to the new MacPro's coming this December?

Thanks TurboStar for your excellent comments and suggestions. I have pre-ordered that Apple 27" LED Display now off Amazon.co.uk... it will be in stock on the 21st March.... and I look forward now with anticipation to getting my hands on it and more importantly my eyes... now that I have read your resounding approval of the 27" compared to my tired and jaded 30".
Interesting your comments about the new MacPro also... I think I went OTT when I bought my last 12 Core MacPro (32GB RAM + 512GB SSD)..... it cost me in total €8,800 ($12,200) which was mad money.... it's doing a great job.... but I don't work with video or video games, just Quark, Illustrator and Photoshop... so not sure if the 8 Core or less would have done the job just as good... I just wanted the best with what I thought was the most horsepower so I could take on any task. I will wait and review more with the New MacPro.... maybe the 6 Core is the way to go... and pump up the SSD and RAM....
    Thanks again.

    Anthony

  • Were there graphics card problems with the 2006 Mac Pros?

I'm curious about the ATI 2600 graphics card issues occuring with the new Mac Pro's using Leopard...
Did this just start occuring or were people also having problems with the NVIDIA GeForce 7300GT cards on the 2006 Mac Pro's while running Tiger?
The reason I'm asking is my Dual 867 has finally given up the ghost and needs to be replaced and I have the opportunity to buy a new 2 Dual-Core 2.66GHZ Mac Pro with Tiger loaded in lieu of the newer, problem ridden models.
    Thanks for your responses.

the 7300 has had no widespread problems.

  • Will HH(Black) BB Talk Phone work with the new AD...

    Hi
hopefully moving over tomorrow to the new up to 20Mb connection.. question is ..will the HH phone work with the new router that Bt have sent out for the new connection ?  Doesn't appear to be anywhere to connect to the new router like the HH which you can connect it to on the front .. so can it connect wirelessly using the power adapter ??

None of the BT HH phones will work with the 2700HGV.
You will need to get a standard wired or wireless phone and connect it to the phone port on the 2700HGV with the included adaptor, then activate BBTalk on the 2700 HGV. Here's the link to the activation help:

  • Any fix for CC render issue with the new MacPro Firepro D700.  Getting lines and flicker as documented in threads

    Hi,
We're facing some critical problems with our new MacPros, CC, and the Firepro D700's.   It appears that after we upgraded to 10.9.3 the D700's no longer work with Creative Cloud.  Our Premiere renders are full of artifacts, lines, and drop out.   Same issue as documented in RENDER PROBLEM - AME and Premiere Pro CC causing random horizontal lines on H.264 Renders     Can you advise as to when the fix will be pushed?  We have turned to "software only" render, which is killing us for time.  We have a huge amount of work that goes through 4 edit bays and its putting us days behind.
    Please let us know,

  • Seriously... are display prefs just bad with the new MacPros?

2010 8Core MacPro with ATI 5870 video card. OS 10.6.5
This is my second 2010MacPro.. first was was replaced by Apple due to some hardware issue.
    Driving 3 monitors - 1-30" Apple, 2-24" Dell Ultrasharps.
Using 2 Dual-Link DVI to Mini Display adapters (for the Dells) and plugging the 30" Apple straight into the cards DVI slot.
NOTHING allows display preferences to be retained after the screensaver goes to sleep. The ONLY way I can get my display preferences to remain is to set the screen saver to run for a couple hours, since i'm usually not away for more than that when working.
This SAME EXACT OS install worked perfectly in a 2006 MacPro with 2-nVidia 8800GT cards. And I mean EXACT. New 2010MP arrived, I installed everything.. was informed the machine needed to be replaced, I yanked the HDDs and put them into the 2006MP and booted right up, no issues. Replacement 2010MP arrived, I pulled HDDS for the 2006MP and put them back into the new 2010MP.
Is anyone else finding it difficult to maintain display preference settings on the new MacPros if your'e driving 3 monitors?
    Thanks

As Mac OS X is a Multi-User system, and your user_id could (in certain configurations) be associated with a multitude of displays on a multitude of Macs, those preferences are found in unusual places.
Most are in your Home Directory. If the permissions on your Home Directory are damaged, so that you do not have write access to some of these folders:
    <your_home> > Library > Preferences
    <your_home> > Library > Preferences > ByHost
    and files with names like:
    com.apple.preference.displays.plist AND
    com.apple.preference.displays.<M.A.C. Address of this computer>.plist
you may not be able to store your settings.
The general test is to create a new User account, and see if the problem recurs with a Brand new User account.
One broad preventative maintenance step is to Repair Permissions.

  • Will there be seamless graphic card switching with Snow Leopard?

With new MacBook/Pro's that have the integrated 9400 and 9600 graphic cards, Leopard has to log out to make the switch between them. Any word that this can be done without logging out? Nvidia had announced that technically speaking their GPU's do support it.
    Thanks.

FWIW, MS Office '04 has worked with SL for over year (while I was beta-testing SL and since it went public). I don't use any of the others. However, here's a list of what works: http://www.macintouch.com/readerreports/snowleopard/topic4883.html

  • Looking for graphic cards compatible with the basic G5

    Help!!
Went to the Apple Store to see if my G5 (M9020LL/A) which is the 1.6GHz PowerPC to see if it was compatible/could drive the 30" cinema display. They assured me my G5 could handle the large display. I have OS 10.5.8, iLife 09, 1 TB HD, 4GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 Ultra with 64MB DDR SDRAM for the 8x AGP Pro slot.
The display arrived, I get picture but not resolution. Searched for a video/graphics card that was compatible. The ATI Radeon 9600 Pro PC/Mac with 256MB was recommended. I purchased one but can only get it to work with a safe boot. Get resolution but iPhoto cannot do the photos in full screen mode. But I can get full screen photos in screen saver mode?!
Apple support states they only recommend/support two cards for my model, the Radeon 9600 @ 64 MB, 2480X1326 res or the Radeon Pro, 128 MB, 2480X1326 res.
Has anyone had a similar problem with the Radeon card 9600 Pro PC/Mac with 256MB? Does anyone have a solution as to which card would be compatible with my G5 and get 2560X1600 res?
Any suggestions? Thanks you for your help!

    Hi-
    Welcome to Discussions!
Apple support states they only recommend/support two cards for my model,
Those were the only two cards offered at the time, so that is their "official position". You may safely ignore them..... even though they lied to you regarding the 30" ACD and your machine.
Has anyone had a similar problem with the Radeon card 9600 Pro PC/Mac with 256MB?
Often reported here on the forum.
Not a good card. If it works, fine, but many report as you do....Safe mode only.
The G5 can use any 8x AGP graphics card that was available in any AGP model G5.
OEM Mac cards with dual link DVI for the 30" ACD are:
    Radeon 9650
    Radeon X800XT
    Geforce 6800 GT DDL
    Geforce 6800 Ultra DDL
A flashed (converted WinPC card) Geforce 7800 GS may also be used.
Any of the above cards can be found on eBay/Apple Components.

  • What is the best graphics card compatible with the original Mac Pro?

I have an original Mac Pro with dual 2.0GHz DC Xeons.  It currently has a GeForce 7300.  I would like to know the best Apple graphics card it can support, and the best "flashed" PC graphics card it can support.  I would like to be able to play games, but it doesn't have to be on BEST settings.  What are the best GPUs that are compatible with Mac Pro 1,1?
    Thanks!!

You may have to work at getting the ATI HD5870 to work with a Rev 1.1 MacPro, but the 5770 should be fine.  It's not as good a card as the 5870, but much faster than your original, and also a lot cheaper than the 5870!  That said, neither is particularly cheap.
If you're techno savvy, you can have a much bigger choice, and can use a generic PC card and 'flash' it to work with the Mac.  If you use Snow Leopard or Lion, you may get it to work straight off, as they have drivers that work on many of the PC cards.

  • Will my airport express 802.11d interface with the new 802.11n for music streaming?

I am about tho purchase the new airport express and have the old one running in the house already. The reason for the purchase is to stream music to speakers in the house. The older one is dedicated to the modem and provides wifi, the new ones will be plugged in elsewhere. Should I replace the old one or keep it?

    Welcome back!
If by "older" AirPort Express, you mean it is a "b/g" version, you'll have to use the WDS setup options on both the new AirPort Extreme"n" and the AirPort Express.
Unfortunately, two negative things will occur when you setup WDS:
    1) Because WDS is a "g" technology thing, the entire wireless network will drop down to "g" wireless levels. So, you lose any advantages of "n" speeds with your new router.
    2) The bandwidth on the entire wireless network will be cut 50%.
Bottom line, you will have a "g" wireless network operating at half of it's capability. That's a tremendous loss of performance for a bit more wireless coverage, but you may disagree.
WDS is difficult for most users to set up because it is very easy to make a mistake. Look over this post to get an idea of what is involved with this. There is also a link to Apple's instructions in this post, but the step by step by expert user Tesserax is easier to follow.
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2287950&tstart=0
I do not recommend WDS, but it's your call.
