Will mac and pc software work together?
I have Protools that I like with mac, but on my pc, I have a quantum leap program that will only work on windows. Can I operate protools on mac and have the pc program talk to it?

Will Tags and picture rating work together?
I want to Select a keyword tag such as "my Dog" or maybe several tags i.e. both "my Dog & My Cats") to see only the files with that tag and then show only the 5 or 4 star pictures within that group. Then, after I print some of the pictures mark them as "Printed".

I have Photoshop CS2 for the MAC and it stopped working on my MAC. I recently bought a new MAC, an IMAC and it doesn't work on that either. There appears to be no way to contact Adobe. What do I do? Thanks, Ed
That because the activation servers were retired. Now for the good news:
Adobe has provided a non-activation version of Photoshop CS2 free of charge for their CS2 license holders.
Download the Mac version of Photoshop (not the suite) and copy down the serial number next to it. Do not use your original serial number or cs2 disc.
Download Acrobat 7 and CS2 products
Uh... one more thing CS2 is PPC only. OSX 10.6.8 has Rosetta to run legacy PPC products. 10.7 and above will not.

Trying to make sense on how and if RBAC and MOAC could work together
Hi All,
We upgraded from 11.5.9 to R12.1.1 in Nov-2009.
Since the time we have upgraded to R12, we are trying to make sense as to how and if RBAC and MOAC could work together.
The use case is as below:

US Accountant - accesses ‘AR superuser US’
Canada Accountant - accesses ‘AR superuser Canada’
France Accountant - accesses ‘AR superuser France’
Spain Accountant - accesses ‘AR superuser Spain’
North America Financial controller - Switches between 'AR superuser US' and 'AR superuser Canada'
European Financial controller - Switches between 'AR superuser France' and 'AR superuser Spain'
CFO - Switches amongst 'AR superuser US','AR superuser Canada', 'AR superuser France' and 'AR superuser Spain'
Now in R12- (Wow there is MOAC!)
US Accountant - accesses ‘AR superuser US’
Canada Accountant - accesses ‘AR superuser Canada’
France Accountant - accesses ‘AR superuser France’
Spain Accountant - accesses ‘AR superuser Spain’
North America Financial controller - accesses 'AR superuser North America'
European Financial controller - accesses 'AR superuser Europe'
CFO - accesses 'AR superuser Global'
With R12 now there are 3 additional responsibilities.
We have (like most of the other EBS customers) custom responsibilities and so there is maintenance.
More the responsibilities more the maintenance...More the SOD issues.
To prevent creating new responsibilities, we could use the ‘MO: Security Profile’ at the user level BUT that would mean that now these users would have access to multiple OUs for all the responsibilities...that is not good.
What-If: There is only 1 responsibility 'AR SuperUser' and somehow using RBAC, roles are created and assigned to users so that they only have access to specific OUs.
Apparently, MOAC works based on MO:Security Profile that is something that RBAC cannot control.
Am I missing something...RBAC seems to be no good?
In PROD(R12.1.1)- We are expecting that we would end up creating 100+ new responsibilities since we have many shared services users and they all want to benefit from MOAC...Appreciate, if you could please help us understand how we can prevent these 100+ new responsibilities from getting created?

your question is quite interesting. I did a lot in the area of RBAC to understand the background.
RBAC mainly allows you to
- group responsibilities
- build hierarchies
- manage low level data access (via VPD)
- Grant permissions (new with R12)
Unfortunately you can't control profile options via RBAC. Therefore, the MO:Sec Profile has to stay on responsibility level. I was playing with the alternative to put this profile option on user level, but also in this case the number of maintenance steps will stay the same.

thanksYes, they should be able to verify that WiFi is working properly. If I just got a new phone & it didn't work perfectly, right out of the box, before I started restoring or whatever, I'd be right back where I got the phone.

I have two screens on my Apple Mac and could extend work across both. Now updated to Mavericks and this no longer works. How could I restore the previous functionality? Is somethong wrong?

Thanks for replying to my problem. After posting I noted the "More Like This" box on the right of the screen. The top topic was "Restore old dual screen functionality" and turned out to be the the same question with a surprising answer - in the "Mission Control" dialogue, NOT the "Displays" dialogue. There are five tick boxes at the top of the Mission Control screen and the last of them is "Displays have separate spaces" and this box was ticked through the loading of the Mavericks op. system (presumably). Unticking this box, as advised, restored the 'extended' mode and all is now well.

My colleague and I are working together (from separate MacBooks) to create an iBook for our students. We plan to work on sections separately and combine later. Must we use the SAME template to do so?
I'm not sure iBA reacts well to this type of editing, not to mention the cumbersome nature of trying to bring everything together in general.
I'd suggest a workflow where one book is handed off, instead. That, or, let the individuals involved create their basic content in Pages, then when ready, use iBA's Insert Pages Chapters menu to string them together. Best to work in a linear fashion and avoid adding/removing/adding/moving portions, etc.
If you must have separate authors, be sure to use the identical template and have them all properly trained up before going forward - trying this as a learning experience may result in an off-putting experience otherwise , with more time spent on chasing knots than on expressing writing skills, etc. -
When I attached my USB flashdrive to my new Mac Air no icon appears and the same when I attached my new superdrive. I just finished downloading pictures off of my old Mac and that one worked as expected. The new computer doesn't show anything but when I pull the USB flashdrive out, a message prompts me with an improper eject notice. Any ideas on why no icon (a disc) appears and how can I get it to?
Open Finder preferences, click on the General icon in the toolbar. Check the boxes for what you want displayed on the Desktop. Click on the Sidebar icon in the toolbar and do the same for what you want displayed in the sidebar.

if I subscribe to the Photo plan, will Lightroom and Photoshop CC output work with Indesign/Illustrator/etc from older versions of CS installed on my Mac?
I currently have premiere cs4 and cs5 installed and have had no problems. I have noted on the forums here that some people were reporting problems. So the only way to realy know is make the plunge. I'm running win 7 pro.

As long as the profiles are different (ex. HID vs AD2P) you will not have any issues. But say if you try to use 2 keyboards at once, it won't work. Or 2 headsets at once. Your scenario seems fine.

Lightroom, Photoshop Elements, and Nik Software playing together
I have Photoshop Elements 10 and number of plugins, like Topaz Labs ones. I have also just acquired Lightroom. I do want to get CS5 eventually but that is not in the near future.
I am thinking of getting Nik Software's Complete Collection. It does not support Elements 10, but it does support Lightroom. So solution seems easy, just use it in Lightroom. That solution could also result in $200 saving as edition that includes support for Photoshop and Lightroom is right now $399 while one that supports just Lightroom (and Aperture but that is not of relevance to me as I am a Windows user) is $199.
However, I do not want to lose benefits of other plugins I have so going with solely Lightroom edition means increased going back and forth between Photoshop and Lightroom.
So question for those experienced with 3 of these together: Do you foresee issues with getting edition that just supports Lightroom? What things I might feel are missing / might frustrate me with this approach?I purchased the complete Suite from Nik and use it with Lightroom and it has worked well for me. Of course, I spend 95% of my time in LR3 and only use PSE for occassional tweaks like cloning etc. The Nik package offers a lot of functionality, esp when added to all that is aready available through LR3.

Hi all, i am new to Macs and have just purchased a Macbook Air,the only problem i have is there is no Microsoft Office installed,can anyone tell me if office for macs works exactly the same as the windows based version.
Is there any problems i should look out for ?
Thanks Paul.The Windows and Mac versions of Office are not exactly the same but few people will notice the differences between Word, Excel and PowerPoint unless they are macro gurus. Outlook is different and the Mac version doesn't include Access or Publisher.

If you're going to download them from the net, then good luck - I never managed to do it. I now have CD's for all the Oracle products and have Personal Oracle 8i and Forms 6i on my NT pc. It all works fine. You won't have any problems (as long as you get the software on CD's). For the username/password, just use scott/tiger to start off with.

I think the answer to this depends on how you view 'working much better', in most cases upgrades usually introduce new features which mean that applications will generally (but not always) run a little slower. It really depends on how much slower and what those new features are, as to whether an upgrade is the right thing for you.
I have quite a high end mac and didn't notice any performance hit with the new ilife apps (but that might not be the same for everyone), I found the additional features in the two applications (other than imovie) that I am interested in quite significant and well worth getting.
If you haven't already, take a look here to see what you can expect from ilife 08.
By the way, it doesn't matter if you have trashed ilife 06, if you get ilife 08 you can download im6 from the website.
