Will Mac CS2 upgrade to PC CS6?

Does CS2 qualify for upgrading to CS6? Also what if the CS2 version is Mac and I want to move to CS6 for PC?

Cross-platform upgrading works now for CS6 (meaning you can just buy the regular upgrade for a different platform than the one of the product you own), but regret to tell you that CS2 is too far back to qualify for discounted upgrade pricing to CS6...
CS3 and CS4 are the furthest back now that get lower upgrade pricing to CS6, and that's only until the end of the year...  Adobe is planning to change their "3-versions-back" upgrade policy to "1-major-version-back" policy starting in 2013.

  • I just upgraded to Photoshop cs6 so that my new camera (Nikon D7100) would work in Camera Raw.  However, it will not download from the  "Update" option in CS6.

I just upgraded to Photoshop cs6 so that my new camera (Nikon D7100) would work in Camera Raw  (I was told that the Camera Raw update 8.3, which is available for CS6, included this camera).  However, it will not download from the  "Update" option in CS6.  I have tried over 10 times - it just says update is not working. and I cannot find an alternate way of downloading this file. So I still can use my camera, even thought I paid to upgrade.  HELP please.

What OS do you have?  You say you have explained what you had (computer/opsys) but I honestly don't see it here.  If you had mentioned that my advice would have been different; I believe you can only upgrade as far as Camera Raw 8.3 on an older Windows system.  There is more information here (look specifically for the "Revert to 8.3 ..." titles).

What you've done/written in your last post confuses things further, unfortunately.  Photoshop 13.1 is strictly a Creative Cloud version.  The highest you can go is Photoshop CS6 13.0.1.3 with perpetual license.
And as far as I can recall, that version can work on Windows back to XP:
    System requirements | Photoshop
I don't think you're out of luck, but you seem to be leaping into doing things without having the full story, and are jumping to conclusions a bit too quickly.
Here's what I suggest you try:
    1.  Remove Photoshop entirely with the Creative Suite Removal Tool:
Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
    2.  Install Photoshop CS6 from your original media or from here:
    Download CS6 products
    3.  Update the application using its own Help - Updates process.  That really should get you the latest Camera Raw version that will work.  If that does not bring you a Camera Raw that works with your Nikon, use the "Revert to 8.3" instructions above.

  • Upgraded from PC to a MAC, can I download my cs6?

    Hi,
When I originally purchased photoshop in 2012, I had a laptop. My laptop was too slow for the program so eventually I upgraded to a PC desktop. My PC desktop is unable to functional successfully with Photoshop, so I have finally purchased a mac. I still have my original receipt and serial number for my CS6.  Will I be able to download a mac version of photoshop on my new computer?
    Thanks,
    Amanda

You'll have to do a platform swap and get a Mac serial number. Your Windows serial number will not work on Macs.
Order product | Platform, language swap
While that process is underway, you can still download CS6 for Mac and run it free for 30 days in trial mode
    Download CS6 products
Once you get your CS6 Mac serial, just launch a CS6 app like Photoshop and enter your serial. No need to re-install.

I know PowerPC apps won't work, but I can't tell by the version numbers if they are PPC or Intel.

  • FAQ: If I buy Photoshop CS5 now, will I get a free upgrade when Photoshop CS6 comes out?

    The following document explains:
Upgrade policy after new product announcement
Because Adobe hasn't officially announced official CS6 pricing and availability dates yet, your best bet is to wait until there is an official announcement on pricing and availability.

The upgrade policy  for CS6 was posted yesterday:
    Complimentary upgrades for CS6 products
If you purchased Creative Suite 5.5 or a Creative Suite 5.5 component on or after March 26, 2012, you qualify to receive a complimentary upgrade to the equivalent Creative Suite 6 product at no additional cost when it becomes available.
See link above for for comprehensive Adobe upgrade info or the link below for CS6 specific details.

  • Any news on when the eLearning suite will be upgraded to include CS6 components?

I am keen to upgrade to a suite, and the elearning suite is exactly what I need - though not the 5.5 version. I have CS4 Design Suite now and also Captivate v 5.
Anyone else know when this is likely to get the upgrade? Hey - I would buy it now if I knew it would upgrade for free when they get all the components upgraded.

Seriously, do you think that there will be un upgrade to eLearning Suite 2.5?  They don't even offer an academic discount for it anymore.  I was on the line yesterday for quite some time talking to an Adobe sales representative, and I got the impression that Presenter 7.07 is the end of the line for Presenter.  Maybe I misunderstood.  Is there a new program from Adobe (or anyone) that fills the niche that Presenter does?  I use it all the time.

  • Free Upgrade to Photoshop CS6 from CS5.5 upon release

I Purchased Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 production Premium (Student License) a month ago understanding that a free upgrade to Photoshop CS6 MAC. when available. How do I upgrade to CS6 now that it is released.

    I’m in the same boat.
I knew this would happen so I sent in a support ticket and got a case number on the 22nd. I was told that I do qualify for the cs6 upgrade but I would have to wait. So I did and guess what – nothing came.
I spent the better part of an hour in chat and while they have agreed there is an issue and have “escalated” my problem to the “offline team”, they are now away for Memorial Day and I won’t hear back until at least Tuesday.
All I wanted was a link to my promo code or an explanation – I didn’t get either and now the studio I've booked out sits vacant all weekend.
I cannot imagine letting a client twist in the wind without delivering their project or an explanation as to why an extension is needed – It’s unfathomable. If Adobe cannot stick to their deadline they need to change it or explain why BEFORE the deadline passes. A simple email would suffice and any adult with any business experience would agree that this just is common sense.
What will Adobe do now? I predict I’ll get a form letter apology ( that’s not worth near the $300 I lost this weekend )  and finally a link to my promo code. No mentions of compensations or added value for my trouble.
Enjoy your extended weekend kids – status quo starts back on Tuesday...

  • Windows 7, problems with Photoshop CS2 upgrade install

I just upgraded from XP to Windows 7 and I seem to have outsmarted myself.  Ever since version 5 I've bought the upgrade... well, now I no longer have the original version 5 disk and can no longer install and use either my CS or CS2 version.  While I do have a backup copy of my old version 5 CD copied onto my hard drive it will not install on Win7 and the CS2 upgrade doesn't recognize the backup as a valid upgrade.
When I try to install version 5 I get an error message to the effect that it's incompatable with Windows 7.  Trying to install either CS or CS2 and I get a "valid upgrade not found" error... if I let it install anyway in trial mode once it's done installing I get a "trial period is over, enter serial number".  I enter my serial number for the version I'm installing and I get "invalid serial number"  Invalid?  It's the number on the back of the CD case verified 10 times.
Am I hosed or will I have to go back to Windows XP?  I've paid for the Photoshop CS upgrade and the CS2 upgrade over the years but neither will install and run since I cannot install the last full version I own.
At the moment I'm having to use my laptop for all my photoshop work since it's still running XP and so it has a functional version of Photoshop.

    It works fine.
Right click on the "setup.exe" file on the CS2 install disc and then click on "properties", then click on the "compatibility" tab.
Click on the box for "Run this in compability mode" and in the pull down select "XP sp2".
    Click "apply" and then "ok".
Now go back to "setup.exe" and click on "Run as administrator" and CS2 should load fine.

  • Trouble installing cs2 upgrade in Windows 7 64 bit

I have recently bought a new computer and I am transferring programs.  I have deactivated cs2 on my old computer.  I am trying to install it on my new computer with OS windows 7 64 bit.  The CS2 is an upgrade from adobe Photoshop 5.02.  When I try to install the cs2 upgrade it asks for validation of ownership of Photoshop 5.02.  It does not recognize the cd when I put it in the cd player.  I have not been able to install Photoshop 5.02 onto my new computer using the cd (even when I use the compatibility trouble shooter and change settings to xp service pack 2. I have transfered the 5.02 over to my new computer via USB and can even run it.  However, CS2 upgrade will not recognize 5.02 even when I browse to the program folder.  Any other thoughts or suggestions would be very appreciated.

Find the registry keys for the program on your old machine, export them to a file, import them on the new system. regedit is your friend. Should be in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Adobe somewhere...

  • Photoshop CS2 Upgrade to CS4 Upgrade with CS4 trial version

    Hello,
today I bought the PS CS4 Upgrade (Win). The shipping will take 7 days so I asked myself if it is possible to upgrade my "CS2 Upgrade version" (from PS 6 full version) to CS4 by using the trail version.
    Dear Forum,
do you have a step by step guidance about that issue?
    Thanks!

Theoretically you should be able to do it, but I would advise against it because there are so many installation problems reported, especially with trials.
You have waited since September for CS4, so hang on for another 7 days and install the upgrade direct from the DVDs.
