Will Mac Drivers From A Macbook Pro Work For A Macbook?

Hello everyone, been looking for an answer for this for awhile.
Im installing windows xp sp3 on many of our computers - an early 2008 Macbook pro, a 2009 Macbook, and a Brand New Imac 21.5 inch.
Unfortunately, i cannon find the box of the 2009 macbook - which means no install cd for drivers.
Will i be able to us any other of the driver cds (from the macbook pro or the imac) for the macbook (aluminum) or are each special for that computer? thanks!!!

Yes. Windows XP is not choosy. It will use any MacOS installer DVD that has the Boot Camp driver installer.
But for later versions of Windows like Vista and Windows 7, use the drivers on the Snow Leopard installer DVD. At only $29, Snow Leopard is a cheap solution as far as the drivers go but even better, SL should be on all recent Macs.

    That qualifies as an "issue".

The installer verifies the integrity of your HD before upgrading OS X. If it has defects that cannot be repaired then it requires replacement. You would be understandably disappointed if it were to upgrade your system, then be unable to start because its hard disk is corrupt.
Try starting your Mac from its original System Install DVD. Insert the disc and restart while holding the c key. Choose your startup volume from the left column and select "Repair Disk". Make note of any errors it finds. Even if it repairs successfully, it is likely to fail again.
Hard disk drives can be replaced. Expect to pay nearly $400 for an Apple Store repair.
You will not have to pay for Mountain Lion again. It's yours forever and can be downloaded again, as often as you require.

  • Will Mac OSX 10.6 Snow Leopard work for a windows Computer....???

hi. i am wondering if i could buy MAC OSX 10.6 SNOW LEOPARD and put it into my windows Computer and erase windows and put MAC on it? i just bought an. HP Pavilion Slimline about 1-2 weeks ago. and it has. AMD Athlon II X2. With NVIDIA Graphics With Cuda.... Will it work??? please let em know....

Snow Leopard requires an Apple Macintosh with an Intel CPU. I doubt that even with extensive, license-breaking hacks you could get it to run on an AMD CPU.

To get iLife and iWork. If you only want iPhoto or other single apps from iLife '11 you can get them from the App Store after you've upgraded to 10.6.6. iPhoto, iMovie or Garage Band for $15 each and Pages, Keynote or Numbers from iWork '09 for $20 each.
Once you are at 10.6.8 you can buy Lion for $29 from the App Store. Lion will require at least 2gb of RAM but really needs 4gb to run smoothly.
As for third party programs see this list for compatibility with 10.7 http://roaringapps.com/apps:table
Also Lion doesn't run any Power PC programs. To see if you have any Power PC programs go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info. When System Profiler comes up select Applications under Software. Then look under Kind to see if any of your applications are listed as Power PC. Universal and Intel will run under Lion.

  • HT204347 Will my Singapore MacBook Pro work in Indonesia

Hi I bought my MacBook Pro in Singapore end last year.  I will be relocating to Jakarta in June.  Will my MacBook Pro work there?  Thanks.

Actually the MBP sold in Indonesia has Singapore's adaptor plug (3 legs instead of 2 round legs like Indonesia's plug) for the cable extension.  As for voltage, I believe that most electronic adaptor supports at least 110v-220v, so that it can be used for charging while travelling out of the country of origin.  You just need to buy plug adaptor (2 round legs) to use in Indonesia.

  • Can i use a charger from a pre-2011 macbook pro on my 2012 macbook pro?

left my charger out of state, it's being shipped but in the meantime i need to charge my laptop! a friend has a charger that i think is from a 2011-2010 macbook pro.  will this work? is it bad for my computer?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Of course. Both MacBooks Pro have the same power settings and the same charger, so there won't be any problem, more if both of them are 13-inch MacBooks Pro or 15-inch MacBooks Pro.
In the case of 13-inch MacBooks Pro and 15-inch MacBooks Pro, they come with chargers that provide different power, 60W for the 13-inch MacBook Pro and 85W for the 15-inch MacBook Pro. If you use a 15-inch MacBook Pro charger with a 13-inch Mac, you won't have any problem, but if you use a 13-inch MacBook Pro charger with the 15-inch MacBook Pro, the charge may be slower

  • Can I transfer my email in outlook on my macbook pro (windows for mac) onto my ipad mini?Help!?

can I transfer my email in outlook on my macbook pro (windows for mac) onto my ipad mini?Help!?

Outlook is an email client and that does not indicate if your email is POP or IMAP. If you have an IMAP email account, all of your emails actions will automatically sync across your devices. If you have POP, it does not work that way.
If you are asking if you can transfer the current emails on the Mac onto the iPad, no you cannot, unless the email is an IMAP account and they can download onto the iPad again from the server.

  • How do I transfer files from my old MacBook Pro to my New MacBook Pro?

I am trying to transfer some files, not all, from my old MacBook Pro to my new MacBook Pro. I have tried to use Migration Assistant, but it doesn't let me choose what I want to transfer (only generic things like "users" and "files and folders"). I have tried to use Firewire. Now here is the funny thing. When I put my old mac in target mode it doesn't appear on my new mac anywhere. But, when I put my new mac in target mode, it pops right up on the dashboard and in finder. The problem is I have tried using my new mac as the target and just place the files into the icon, but the don't stay after I eject. I get a prompt that says downloading and when all files and apps are transferred I turn off my new mac then turn it back on and nothing. I've done search after search and repeated this process 3 times and nothing. Am I doing something wrong? Please help.

Time Machine will not "overwrite". New back ups are added to what is there, without erasing.
Connect the Time Machine back up, double click on the icon and navigate through its contents - the back ups are chronological, so you just select the date then go through the contents just like on any other drive. You can select any files you want and drag and drop on the new Mac's desktop (or anywhere else).

    Thanks, W

I'm not sure if you understand that 5 GHz has some upsides, but also some very significant downsides.
The upside is that the 5 GHz signal will allow faster speeds.
The downside is that you must always give up something in order to gain something else.Unfortunately, the marketing hype about 5 GHz does not go into very many details about this.
In the case of 5 GHz, the 5 GHz signals are much weaker than 2.4 GHz signals, so they do not travel as far or penetrate any obstructions like walls or ceilings nearly as well as 2.4 GHz signals. In many cases, in order to get good 5 Ghz performance, you literally have to have almost a line-of-sight relationship between your computer and the wireless router.
If you have a new dual band router, which broadcasts both a 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz signal simutaneously, your Mac will connect to the best signal quality automatically depending on its location in relation to the router. In the same room, without any obstructions, it will connec to 5 GHz. But, take the laptop down the hall a few rooms and around the corner and the Mac will connect to the 2.4 GHz signal because at that location, the 2.4 GHz signal is not only stronger, it is also faster.

I clicked on iMessage on my Macbook Pro today for the first time, and now NOTES keeps opening up every 5 seconds, with a new note.  I cannot stop it from opening. If I close it or force close, it opens again in 5 seconds.  I can't get rid of it.  I have tried to clear out the iMessage settings I had put in, and I've tried to adjust the Accounts to not include notes to synch.  But, Notes will not stop.  It opens a new note, and even if you ignore it, it assumes preference every 5 seconds, and the Mac is impossible to use.

Do you have any Boot Camp or other secondary partitions set up on your system? If so then try running a disk verification routine (chkdsk, etc.) in Windows to repair the disk. While I've not heard of it happening recently, in the past errors in these partitions have resulted in stubborn ghost files appearing in OS X.

  • Is it possible to purchase an Applecare plan from the United States (LLA) for a MacBook Pro from Latin America (LZA)?

Is it possible to purchase an Applecare plan from the United States (LLA) for a MacBook Pro from Latin America (LZA)?

That's somewhat of a legal question which may not be able to be answered here by the uers/volunteers - I'd suggest you check with a local apple store.
In the US, you can purchase it at any authorized reseller as long as you register it with the serial number of the computer within the first 364 days of ownership, but I do not know if a US product will work with one from another country.

  • Time Machine - MacBook Pro works, MacBook doesn't

Last night, in the middle of a Time Machine backup to our 500 GB Time Capsule, my wife's MacBook said the backup failed.
Today, I tried a manual backup by saying "Back up now" in the menu bar, and the thing hung at "Preparing". So I restarted the MacBook and tried again.
This time, the backup got past "Preparing", but got as far as "74MB of 74MB" before hanging. Using Get Info on the disk image on the Time Capsule showed that there were no longer any writes being made to the Time Capsule, but Activity Monitor showed that the MacBook was still acting as though it was sending packets to the Time Capsule.
Restarted the MacBook, tried again. This time, the fans spun up to maximum on the MacBook, and the backup still didn't complete.
I trashed the Time Machine preferences in Library/Preferences, restarted the MacBook again, and behold, the backup to the Time Capsule finally completed.
Now the MacBook has an entirely different problem - Time Machine takes upwards of 20 minutes to launch, if it will launch at all, and the MacBook's fans spin like crazy while trying to launch it. The Finder just says "Connecting to backup volume". I've checked Console to see if it has any helpful information, but it doesn't tell me anything.
I've also tried restarting the Time Capsule itself, and that did nothing.
My MacBook Pro works just fine with the Time Capsule, and Time Machine launches with barely a hiccup. My wife's MacBook simply does not want to play nice, though, and I'm out of ideas.

Getting the same issues on an iMac with a 1TB Time Capsule. All working OK for a month or so, then it hung at "Preparing" and I just get "connecting to backup volume" when trying to open Time Machine. Cannot get to backup or allow me to enter Time Machine at all.
Furthermore, I have an extended network with an Airport Express which has also gone down, although the Time Capsule is still working effectively as a wireless router itself.
Tried restarting both Time Capsule and iMac with no success.
Didn't try trashing preferences in Library/Preferences yet...
Any advice would be much appreciated.

  • How can I transfer information from my older MacBook Pro to my new MacBook Pro?

How can I transfer information information from my older MacBook Pro to my new MacBook Pro? Does anyone have an answer because I spoke to 2 people at Apple & both sent me the wrong cables.....

Did they mention Migration Assistant?  You can use MA with FireWire, limit is the speed of the older unit.  MA will guide you and allow you to choose what to transfer.
