Will MacBook Air accept a Canon MP550 printer

MacBook Air is staggeringly difficult to get accustomed to.  First of all the print is too small and when I try to change it in email it goes right back to 12.  Second, I haven't a clue where to find a print sign.  I have attached, or at least I think I have, a Canon MP550 printer which isn't in the list of printers but I see it registered as the printer but then I can't find a sign or the word PRINT anywhere.

This message appears when MP Navigator cannot locate the supporting scanner driver. To check if the scanner driver did install, open Finder and select Go > Go to Folder and then type the following
/Library/Image Capture/TWAIN Data Sources
And then press the Go button. Do you see a Canon MP160 series.ds file?
If you do, then open MP Navigator and if you can get past the error message, you need to open the MP Navigator preferences. Then under the General tab in the Product Name drop menu, ensure the MP160 is set.
One last thing. I am assuming that you have the MP160 connected to the Mac via USB cable. If you are using some other connection then please reply.

  • HT4199 trying to connect my MacBook Air to my existing wireless printer

I am trying to connect my newly purchased MacBook Air to my existing wireless printer, a Canon MP560.  When I go to printer preferences and try to "add" a printer I'm not allowed to type anything at all in that window.  What am I doing wrong?  Thanks!

Does the printer appear in the window so you can select it?

    RR,
Not to worry, you're not the first to expect Print to finish by returning you to the edit mode. The thing is that Printing is so hit and miss with this version of the app, you will probably want to stay in the Print window for more than one attempt.

CORRECTION! GMAIL accepts new pw and shows me email. Mail on MacBook Air and iPhone 5s do not accept new gmail pw. What can I do to get my apple products to accept my new gmail pw?

  • Will Macbook Air(2012) with 256G storage flash have storage problem

Will Macbook Air (2012) with 256G storage flash have storage problem described in "MacBook Air Flash Storage Drive Replacement Program"?
In the web page http://www.apple.com/support/macbookair-flashdrive/, it says that Apple has determined that certain 64GB and 128GB flash storage drives used in the previous generation of MacBook Air systems may fail.  I wonder whether Macbook Air with 256GB flash storage may come into the same problem?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
No. 256 GB flash storage does not have that problem. However, it's important that you make backups of your data to keep your files safe

I think there's some remmants left over from when Apple transferred stuff over. We can try a quick fix, but if that doesn't work, I think the only option is to clean install OSX and then install Windows.
open disk utility, confirm that you only have 1 partition (mac journaled)
    restart and PRAM reset
open disk utility and repair permissions twice
    restart boot camp assistant
    Does it work?
If not, I would boot holding command+R, choose disk utility from the menu and completely erase your HD (formatting it as mac journaled again). Then, install OSX on this HD. Once OSX is installed, don't copy your files over from the backup yet. Instead, start boot camp assistant and see if you can get Windows installed. You can copy back your other files after we get Windows installed.

  • MacBook Air can't find my printer

Let me preface this by first stating that I am not technically savvy.  Turning a computer on and off is about it for me. So I just purchased the HP 6835, took it out of the box and have been attempting to set it up.  Everything appears to work fine by my Macbook Air can't find the printer.  I've been trying to get this to find it for hours, reading almost everything. I then looked at the box it came in and it reads on the box that this Printer Supports OSX v10.9 Mavericks. My Macbook Air is running OSX Yosemite v10.10.3, is this why my Macbook can't locate the printer?   If this is not the answer, any ideas would be great.   Thanks, David

The printer shows up as its own wireless network in the list of networks
    It shouldn't.

  • Macbook Air and the Canon Pixma MG2200

    Hi,
I moved to England and am still using a Macbook Air from the US. I recently purchased a Canon Pixma MG2200 printer and would like to use it...however it will not work on my mac. I've download the necessary software, restarted my computer, purchased the correct usb chords, etc. It just simply won't appear on my computer at all. Any advice?

I had a similar problem with my Canon printer but after it had been working.  It stopped wirelessly connecting to my MBA but did connect wirelessly to our MacBook.  I turned it and my MBA off, waited, turned them back on and it did not fix the problem.  Then we had some electrical work done on the house and the power was out for 15 minutes.  That fixed it!  So the first action I suggest you unplug it, wait a minute or more and then plug it in again.
I found it useful to install the software form the CD provided with the printer rather than downloading the drivers.  The download options were confusing with different drivers for different functions and the scanner did not work from the System Preferences > Print & Scan menu until I installed the software from the CD.
If all else fails contact Canon.  It could be DOA and clearly is covered under the Canon warranty.

  • MacBook Air not recognizing Canon PowerShot

I just got home from vacation excited to import photos to my MacBook Air (either using Picasa or iPhoto) from my Canon PowerShot SD3500IS.
For the first time, my MacBook doesn't recognize the camera. I tried connecting to my old camera too and nothing. I tried Googling for the issue and nothing made sense.
    An help?

    Thanks for the suggestion.
Turns out the memory card had too many pictures on it. I cleared some out and everything worked. Sigh.

  • Will macbook air run photoshop?

Anyone here run Photoshop Elements on a Macbook Air?  And if so, can you share any insight regarding the experience?
    Thank you.

Photoshop, be it elements or the full CS version will have no problem on the current generation Air. I use the CS version, and it runs extremely well.

  • Macbook Air Assigned wrong URL to Printer connect to AEBS

I found a curious problem that I corrected but don't know why my Macbook Air did this:
I discovered that my Macbook would print fine to my HP Printer connected to my AEBS via USB, but my Macbook Air would be very slow to send the print job to the printer (taking 1-2 minutes if the print job had images, quicker if it was just text). I noticed that the printer URL (from the printer settings) on my Macbook was different than the printer URL on my Macbook Air. After figuring out how to change the URL on my Macbook Air via http://localhost:631, it now prints fine. However, I don't have a clue why my Macbook Air is assigning a different URL for my printer.
    Anyone have any ideas?

Try resetting the printing system Mac OS X: How to reset the printing system - Apple Support then add your printer back.

  • Will Macbook Air be sufficient to run Photoshop through Creative Cloud or do I need Macbook Pro?  Thank you!

    Hi there...
I plan on buying a Macbook.  I really want the Macbook Air but people at Apple tell me I need the Macbook Pro to run Ps properly.  I plan on renting Ps monthly through Adobe Creative Cloud so Im not sure if this is the same and needs the same space as buying it and installing.
Any advice is appreciated!  Thanks so much!
    L.

The top end MacBook Pro 15" (17" high res/anti-glare for full 1080 HD screen)  for mobile video needs with some restrictions and hinderances, you will need the Build to Order 7,200 RPM drive for sure as you need space and speed.
You can have 8GB of RAM from Apple or place 16GB in yourself for a lot less than Apple charges for 8GB. However you need to be handy with tiny screws, or have a local specialist do the 16GB for you.
Your probally better off with a MacPro than a MacBook Pro.
The MacPro is more powerful, and easier to get inside and do things, lasts longer, more ports, more drives, more storage for video, fast external RAID 5 setups etc.
So if you can get into a MacPro, that would be a better option for video.

  • I have a Macbook Pro 15" and Canon LBP7750Cdn printer. How can i get rid of a ip assigned to the printer previously because it clashed with another device?

I have canon lbp7750cdn printer. i assigned ip 192.168.1.50 to it to install as network printer. after a few unsuccessful attempts realised the ip was already assigned elsewhere, hence changed ip to 192.168.1.60 and the printer worked. but now when i want to run printer monitor utility (which is part of driver used

  • Will macbook air suit civil engineering student

am a final year civil engineering student. am planning to buy mac book air. can you please say me will it support all desiging software such as autocad , revit , primavera , etc. and will it give the same speed as in computer or other laptops

The MBA's all ship with dual-core cpu's, while the MacBook Pro's can be had with quad-core cpu's, so no, a MBA will not have the computational capability of a Pro model, especially for heavy numeric processing.  The Pro's can also be had with more RAM, and much more mass storage if you stick with a conventional hard drive.  The Pro's graphics hardware is also considerably superior to the Air's.
I can understand wanting the less expensive machine and the portablitily, but for a science or engineering major, I would say you'd be far better off springing for a MacBook Pro.  The Air, while a great machine for many uses, is inherently compromised for when it comes to cpu/gpu intensive computing.
