Will Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) work on OS 10.9.2 aka Mavericks?

Did you restart after updating?
Have you tested in a new User to see if you have the same problems?
If you want to do a complete removal and re-install see:

Did you delete duplicate fonts installed by Office 2011? This is often a source for crashes.

  • How to save .pdf file using office word and excel

Can someone help me how to save .pdf files using office word and excel?  I reinstalled my adobe 7.0 pro in my new pc and before I was able to do it but with my old pc.

For anything after Office 2003, you have to print to the Adobe PDF printer. If you installed AA 7 on OS newer than XP, you may have to do a workaround to get it to work. With later versions of WORD you can always use the MS plugin for creating PDFs.

Microsoft Word 2007 states "Microsoft Office Word Has Stopped Working" after I close any word document, (newly created or old word documents). Functionality of Word appears to be fine, I'm just tired of it crashing everytime I close it. Please HELP!
I am using Windows Vista, Service Pack 2 and Microsoft office 2007. The funny thing is, that when you are logged in to the other profile that we have created on our computer, Microsoft Word seems to work perfectly fine. The followiing is the exact "problem

    Hi,
This issue may occur due to conflict with certain software\driver such as PDF add-ons or default printer software.
To resolve your issue, you can follow the methods below to delete the corresponding registry:
    1. Click Start , type regedit in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.
    2. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Continue.
    3. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Word\Data
    4. On the Edit menu, click Delete, and then click Yes.
    5. Exit Registry Editor.
    6. Restart Word
    Hope it helps.

  • What do I need to do to open Office (word AND excel) documents, PowerPC issues etc. They don't open on iWork '08. Office 2011? Please advise :-)

What do I need to do to open Office 2004 (word AND excel) documents? PowerPC issues etc. They don't open on iWork '08. Happy to upgrade to iWork or Office just to be able to access my docs from Office 2004 again - please can someone advise? Cheers.

Hi - thanks for this info. Actually I have downloaded a 30-day trial of MS Office for Mac 2011 and it reads/writes. But I was expecting that if I saved it again, either as xls oe xlsx, then I would be able to open the newly-saved document in iWorks '08. This is not the case, any ideas why? cheers, Matt.

  • Will Microsoft Office for Mac 2011 work on my iMac with Mountain Lion OS?

Help!  I have downloaded Mountain Lion (10.8.4) on my iMac. Now I can't open or use files that contained labels I made with Microsoft Office for Mac 2004 because Mountain Lion does not support Power PC and Microsoft Excel.  If I purchase and download Office for Mac 2011, will it allow me to continue using these label files?  If not, how can I get a database for my iMac that will enable me to create labels and catalogues?

Thanks, Niel.  I'm glad to know purchasing the Microsoft Office for Mac 2011 will enable me to retrieve and use my "ancient" database label files.  I did try to get OpenOffice, but my computer says "'OpenOffice' can't be opened because it is from an unidentified developer" and my "security preferences allow installation of only apps from the Mac App Store and identified developers."  How can I do this?  I really don't know about the inner workings of my computer!

  • Does OS X Lion support Office Word and Excell and Entourage?

I currently have OS X 10.6.8 and have seen some discussions saying there are problems in transferring and accessing  Entourage in particular in the upgrade to OS X Lion.
Before I upgrade I would like to know this as I have extensive data on these appications.

    Hi
    Thats great.
I have Office 2008 (Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Entourage)
Does that mean my emails in Entourage will be directly transferable unlike the many people complaining (presumably about earlier versions of Office).
    Cheers Cam

  • MS Office (Word and Excel) on my MacBook is absolutely untrustworthy. I need a Mac version of MS Office. Is iWork a great option? Does iWork have extensive features like the ones on MS Office? (I use only Word and Excel) Free full trial version of iWork?

    As above

What exactly do you mean by "untrustworthy?"   Are you having a specific problem with MS Office on your Mac, or are you just saying you don't want to buy or install MS Office?
I have used every version of MS Office for Mac since it was first released, on every release of OS X since 10.2 Panther and I have never had a problem with it on any Mac ... hundreds of Macs.  And have never had a problem exchanging Office docs (Word, Excel, PPT) with Windows users.
That said, it is important not to install an older version of MS Office on a newer release of OS X - for example if you are running Snow Leopard, Lion or Mt. Lion you should use MS Office Mac 2011.   (Office 2008 would be ok on Snow Leopard but I would not recommend it on Lion or Mt. Lion).

  • Will Microsoft Office 2008 and Photoshop CS5 save to Time Machine?

I need to reformat my Mid 2010 15" MacBook Pro. I purchased Photoshop and Office when I purchased my computer in 2010 and have misplaced the disks since then. I need to know if they'll save to time machine... My iTunes also won't open and I'd like to save my playlists, is there any way I can access and save a folder or something on my external hd to get those back as well? Would you suggest I upgrade from 4gb to 8gb of memory, and any other helpful hints/tips for reformatting would be wonderful. Thanks.

If you did not exclude any of these applications when running Time Machine, that data should be there.  Open Time Machine and take a look.
Additional RAM is generally a good thing to install if you use resource intensive applications.  The best sources of Mac compatible RAM are OWC and Crucial.  Make certain that the RAM has the following specifications:  204-pin PC3-8500 (1066 MHz) DDR3 SO-DIMM.  8 GB RAM is the maximum your MBP will accept.
If the bank account allows, a SSD to replace the HDD would speed up your MBP.
    Ciao.

  • Unable to open documents in Office (Word and Excel) - 3 authentication prompts followed by 'Could not open ...'

I am getting multiple authentication prompts when I try to open or create a new .docx or .xslx document from SharePoint 2010.
I tried this on different machines and on different browsers (IE and Firefox) and see the same behavior. I am the site collection administrator. I see the same behavior on other sites also. Other users are also seeing the same behavior.
If I download the document, I can open it without any issues.
The Web Application IIS authentication settings is NTLM and Client Integration is enabled.

    Hi shankze,
According to your description, my understanding is that you could not open the documents because of the authentications.
Go to IIS, make sure that the Security TokenServiceApplication pool is started.
Please do as the followings, and compare the result:
Add your site to the Trusted Sites Internet Zone.
Go to Internet Options - Security - Highlight the Trusted Sites Check Mark - click on custom level - scroll to the bottom and in the user authentication section select "Automatic logon with current username and password."
Also, you can do via group policy in DC server.
More information, please refer to the link:

    I hope this helps.

  • If i upgrade to maverick will i lose my microsoft word and excel for apple

If I upgrade to maverick will I lose my installed Office Word and Excel for Mac

You shouldn't, but it would be a really good idea to make a clone of your existing installation using Carbon Copy Cloner before upgrading. That way if you have any issues with Mavericks it's very easy to go back. Without the clone it's a lot more difficult.

  • Printing issue with microsoft word and excel

I open Microsoft 2004 Word and Excel separately and clicked on File / Open....not responding and so force quite. I went to Finder and opened the file directly and It did. But when I clicked Print, the print page doesn't show up. I closed the file. I opened other softwares and tried the Print and Save as PDF and it worked. I booted several times and reinstaled the Microsoft 2004 from original disk and did updates up to 11.6.3 versions. I rebooted again and still the same problem. Please help !

If you applied the Security Update from a few days ago it sounds like you are affected with this problem:

  • After installing acrobat my Microsoft office package does not work properly, word will not open and in my email i can't select anything with the mouse

After installing acrobat my Microsoft office package does not work properly, word will not open and when I want to write an email in my outlook email i can't select anything with the mouse. so copy past en delete are not an option.@

Are you using any MS Office third party Add-ins? Test:  Remove third party Add-ins other than PDFMaker.  Test to see if the MS Office apps run afterward.
Did you attempt to repair MS Office?  Test:  Go to Add/Remove Control Panel run Repair.
Finally, have you tried testing to see if it's PDFMaker?  Test: Use the Add/Remove Control Panel to modify the Acrobat installation to remove PDFMaker.  See if MS Office applications launch and behave correctly?

Just adding to what CSound has said.
Pages and Numbers will change Word and Excel documents when they open and close them.
Sometimes the change is subtle and sometimes not. With the latest versions of Pages and Numbers, more likely not.
So don't think you are going to work with MsOffice files without problems. You will always have something not right and in some cases really annoyingly not right. Like having all the text from Pages appear bold in MsWord, or page breaks in the wrong place or some objects and graphics not appearing in one or the other.
If working between different Operating Systems and MsOffice files, I also recommend LibreOffice. It opens and saves nearly all file formats. Unfortunately not .pages or numbers. Yet. The folks at LibreOffice are busy adding to it all the time, and making sure it works in all Operating systems, Mac, Windows and Linux and they are promising iOS as well soon.

  • I am thinking of changing to a IMaC for my computer and Want to know if I will be able to upload documents from my old computer and all my photos. Everything is in Microsoft Word and excel. I have a iphone and ipad so that is why i am thinking of changing

If I change to a IMAC will I be able to upload all my photos and word and excel documents? Also does it have USB ports like I have already used?
Is there a DVD player on IMACS? It is scary making the move until I am sure I can use everything I already have.  I also have NEAT for all my recepits also.

When the new Mac first starts up, you get the opportunity to migrate your files from another computer, including a PC. This link tells you how to do it from Windows.
As for the iMac's features, you can look through this website to get all the details.
It is possible to install Windows on a Mac and run your Windows applications within it. It's also possible to use programs that are for the Mac which can work with most MS Office files. One good example is LibreOffice.
    Welcome to the Mac.

  • HT3258 Will Word and Excel still work if I upgrade to Mount, Lion

If I upgrade to M. Lion, will the Word and Excel programs I have on my Mac still work?
    Thanx - M

It depends on which version you have. If they are very old PowerPC only programs - over six years old or so - they will not run.
A better solution is to try a number of better, free alternatives. Consider
    LibreOffice (donation-supported)
    NeoOffice (free)
    OpenOffice (free)
I use Apple's Pages ($19.99) as well as OpenOffice and have been completely Microsoft - free for over a year now. Life is better without Microsoft.
