Will MIDI keyboard (30 pin) work over lightning adapter?  If I get 30pin o lightning adapter?

I have a lot of older 30 pin iOs accessories. iRig keyboard, yamaha i-MX1, Tascam iU2 Audio that have 30pin connector, and a bunch of iOS synthesiser apps. I want to use those accessories on newer iPHONE AND IPAD that have lightning connector.
So the obvious solution would be to get a 30 pin to lightning adapter. But I'm not sure it would work for sure. And this 30 pin to lightning adapter is not cheap.
Anyone tried to use any of listed devices on iOS 8 or 8.1.1 or 8.2 with any luck?
I have bought an off brand (not an original) 30 pin to lightning adapter, and that didn't work. I'm wondering if it's a crappy adapter or just those interfaces are incompatible even when those accessories are plugged in through 30 pin to lightning adapter.

I'm wondering if it's a crappy adapter
yes it most likely is
always best to buy genuine then if there are issues you can use an Apple genius bar
I use the Apple adapter in several scenarios all with iOS8 xx
No issues

• Yamaha KX61 USb MIDI keyboard doesn't work in Garage Band

I have installed latest Yamaha USB-MIDI driver V1.2.0 for Yamaha KX61.
I have connected USB cable to Mac Mini and turned the keyboard on.
In Other section of System Preferences I can see an icon for Yamaha USB-MIDI. In there I can see Device Name: Yamaha KX.
Yamaha KX61 is visible in Audio MIDI Setup utility under Midi Devices tab with Port 1, 2 and 3.
In GarageBand application Audio/MIDI preferences it shows "3 MIDI inputs detected" but Audio Input gives 2 choices only: System Setting and Built-In Input.
When I turn Keyboard off, Garage Band responds with message "The number of MIDI inputs has changed. Now no input is available." And then it shows MIDI status: 0 MIDI Input(s) detected.
When I turn Keyboard on, Garage Band responds with message "The number of MIDI inputs has changed. Now 3 inputs are available." And then it shows MIDI status: 3 MIDI Input(s) detected.
I don't understand how to get the keyboard play with Garage Band when adding new software instrument tack.
If anybody able to use KX61 in Garage Band, please share your experience.

Hope its ok to answer you own question.
Just buy the Apple "Lightning to usb camera adapter".  Plug it into the ipad 4 and plug your usb male A cable from the midi keyboard into it and fire up the apps.  Works fine--I just tested it.  You must have a keyboard or other usb device that requires very little or no power from the usb port in order to work.  Also, it must not require a usb driver.  See iosmidi.com/devices for a list of devices that should work.
A lot of investigation (not on any apple site) allowed me to glean out this information.

• Kurzweil PC88 midi keyboard doesn't work!

I have the latest version of Logic 9.1.1
I bought a 1x1midi tab one end usb directly plugged into computer to midi end plugged into my Kurzweil keyboard. I am getting no midi.
Can anyone give me advice as to what is going wrong?
Thanks!

Hi marykeys,
I bought a brand new Kurzweil PC88 12 years ago and still working incredible! As far as being recognized by Logic (Express, Pro, Studio, etc), I have never had any problems, except for one situation with an M-Audio Midisport 2x2. What I currently use is the M-Audio UNO USB MIDI interface and works perfect! Really simple and friendly device and have never heard any bad review from it.
Still try to look for setup issues in your computer, before even thinking about reseting your PC88.
- Go to "Audio MIDI Setup" / "MIDI Devices tab and run the "Rescan MIDI" (Make sure the keyboard is on and properly connected through your MIDI interface -also ON and connected). If not the keyboard, the Interface should show up.
- If nothing happened, click on "Add Device" and then double click on the new device appearing as "new external device". Fill the information of Device Name/Manufacturer/Model (this is just to make things more organized) and then click on "Port". Press YES to the question that might ask you and then see if in the "Ports" area is available the Port 1. Usually the MIDI interfaces gets the Port 1 by default. If not, then something could be happening with your interface. Having created the new device, run the scan again. If you see the MIDI interface that's perfect and the following step is to connect the Interface with the new device by dragging the mouse from one device to another (the small triangles) and so they should end up being connected with two "wires". Then you can run the test and click on the new device. While having the click pressed, press some keys on your PC88 and you should get several bips, as much as keys you play. Try also to see if E-MU have any software update for your Operating System (remember that most drivers has been updated and transformed since the Intel era on Mac).
- If this works, then make sure to double check Logic preferences. Go to "MIDI" and in the General Tab of MIDI, press "Reset All MIDI Drivers". This will help to renew Logic's information about new changes on the MIDI Setup of your computer.
- If this doesn't work, you should consider a different MIDI interface and also contacting Kurzweil (YoungChang) for further information, not to have your PC88 reseted, unless you have nothing to lose.
Good Luck!

• Midi keyboard doesn't work every once in a while

This is the most strangest thing I have encountered so far. Everything is working, putting notes into Logic via my midi controller. All of a sudden, it stops working. I try to play notes on the keyboard but nothing, no response. I can play them fine with the mouse on the virtual keyboard (on one of the instances - Kontakt 3), but not via my controller. I don't push any buttons by accident either for it to stop working.
I close the project, reopen it, but nothing. I restart the computer but nothing. If I open a new project THEN it works. I have it set on midi channel 1. Sometimes I switch it to omni and it starts working. But not lately.
What is the problem here?
Thanks.

What make and type is it?

• Will "Power Nap" in Mavericks work over a wireless network?

The Help Center docs say "Enable Power Nap (while on battery power or Ethernet)" ...

Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Power Nap is designed to work with wireless networks because the MacBook Air and the MacBook Pro with Retina display have not got an Ethernet port.
I think what the help center says is "Enable Power Nap (while on battery power or plugged in)". It is probably a typo

• Keyboard on 2006 macbook keyboard is not working properly. I'm just getting weird symbols when I type yet an external keyboard works fine. Is there something I can reset or replace? Please help!!

Is there a way to run a diagnostic at startup?

Your alt (aka opt or ⌥) key is stuck down. This seems to be quite common these days.
Try teasing it up with the corners of two credit cards or similar flexible, non-conducting tools.
If that doesn't work, the wafer switch underneath may be damaged, in which case it'll need to go in for service.

• Midi keyboard problems, please help.

My midi keyboard does not work inside Logic when I call up Kontakt. I have double checked everything. The strange thing is, the keyboard works when I use Kontakt as a stand alone. So, this eliminates one other concern I had, a flawed cable. This is crazy. Does anybody have any clue what is going on?

OH MY GOD, I am laughing out loud right now. It WAS the cable in the Environment. I tried pretty much everything in the book and did not even think about looking there. I even transferred all the tracks to a different file (which of course worked). Thanks so much for that advice. I certainly won't make THAT mistake again. This file crashed last night which probably caused that disconnection.
Anyway, thanks.

• MIDI keyboard suddenly does not work in logic

Well, I bought a new keyboard over the weekend because guitar center was having its sale.
Thing is, I have already tried it out, and it worked. It is connected to my PreSonus firebox, and I cant for the life of me figure out why it isnt working anymore. It turns on, it plays through the keyboard's internal speakers if I turn the volume up, it is connected to my audio interface, and logic plays tracks through it just fine. The only thing is that my keyboard isnt working as a controller. I have checked all the connections, restarted logic multiple times, and turned everything (except my macbook) off and on. Nothing.
So I went ahead and pulled out my old keyboard which I have not attempted to sell yet, and it didnt work either. So either there is something very simple that I am overlooking, or there is a problem with the MIDI cable, or with the jack on my firebox.
Any ideas? I'm hoping that I'm just being stupid...

Ah, it is a MIDI keyboard without an interface, so you send midi to the Presonus, which I think also has MIDI, right? Is there no setup software for the Presonus?
The fact that your Keyboard doesn't have its' own (USB-) midi interface, means that it will not appear in AMS - the Presonus MIDI ports should show up. You can create the keyboard in AMS though, and cable it to the Presonus MIDI. Just click "Add Device" and fill in the correct info.
And trying a different MIDI cable may be a good idea as well.
And check the Presonus for switches that may be in the wrong position.
That's all I got for you now...
regards, Erik.

• Lightning to USB midi keyboard

Hi
Do I need the official apple lightning to female USB connector (or camera connector) or can I just plug in the cable that comes with the ipad 4 and iphone 5 straight into the USB midi keyboard...?
The latter doesn't work - any ideas why not?
Rgds,
Gary

I need to know the exact same thing. I'm planning to buy an iPhone 5 exactly to use it as a sound generator module (Garage Band alike). If it doesn't work, I'll have to find another solution. Android, maybe.

Here are two screen shots to show you what I am seeing.  The first screen shot shows it allowing me to select (highlighted in blue) my admin user (which is what I am locced in as).  The second screen shot shows it allowing me to select the "Guest" user (highlighted in blue).  However when I click on the user "Orion" nothing happens.  It will not change to highlight that user.

• Looking for a way to get my Product ID and Vendor ID so I can enable my Radium 49 USB MIDI keyboard to work with Labview 7

Looking for the Product ID and Vendor ID for my Radium 49 USB MIDI keyboard to work with Labview 7
Is there a tool to find out the Vendor ID and Product ID for a USB device?
Example: of what I'm looking for
The Product ID for National Instruments DAQPad-6020E is 0x12C0. The
USB vendor ID is 0x3923. This is a 16-bit hexadecimal number(1093)
(that is decimal 4243).
Thanks for all the fast responses this newsgroup RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!

How To Find The Vendor and Product ID for USB Devices?
Primary Software: Driver Software>>NI-VISA
Primary Software Version: 3.3.1
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A
Problem:
I want to make an NI-VISA driver that requires the vendor and product ID?
Solution:
There is a utility called USBView,
free from Windows, attached below, which you can use to view what is
connected to your computer's USB ports. It is necessary to load this
program and connect the USB device in development. Upon selecting the
device in USBView, one can then look on the right side of the
application window to obtain the Product ID and Vendor ID. This will
allow you to enter in the correct IDs when creating a driver .inf file
when using the VISA Driver Development Wizard. For more information
about how to use the VISA Driver Development Wizard see the related
links below.
Note: It is necessary to keep the hexadecimal
(0x####) format. Do not remove the "0x" hexadecimal format preceding
the ID number.

• USB MIDI keyboard not working

Hi everyone,
I recently upgraded to a Macbook (White) and I haven't been able to get my MIDI keyboard to work with it. It's a Novation Remote 25 LE, and all of the documentation for it claims it is fully USB compliant and does not need any drivers to function. Well, that doesn't seem to be the case. I used the USB drivers for OS X that Novation has on their site to no avail.
The catch is, it worked flawlessly on my old 12" Powerbook without drivers. Comparing the two configurations, I notice that using the Audio MIDI Setup program under utilities the Remote LE shows up, but has no ports assigned to it, nor can I add any, while it has "Remote LE" listed under port on my old Powerbook. Anyone have an idea how I can get this up and running? Thanks in advance!

There's another user with a very similar issue to yours. It makes me think that Leopard is the problem here--unless you had Leopard installed on your PowerBook?
Perhaps keeping an eye on this thread will help:

• LMMS not working anymore with my MIDI keyboard

Hello,
I used to play to my MIDI keyboard with LMMS, but I don't know why, it doesn't seem to work anymore.
I looked at the the preferences box, and something shocked me:
I can't put "ALSA" in the MIDI Interface section, and if I launch lmms in a terminal I got that too:
[david@laptop ~]$ lmms

"Cannot load library /usr/lib/lmms/ladspa/pitch_scale_1194.so: (libfftw3f.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory)"
ALSA lib seq_hw.c:457:(snd_seq_hw_open) open /dev/snd/seq failed: No such device
cannot open sequencer: No such device
Couldn't create MIDI-client, neither with ALSA nor with OSS. Will use dummy-MIDI-client.
So if someone knows how to fix this, well I'm open
Thanks !

Car 1: 2010 - VW Jetta TDI (Turbo Diesel) w/ Non-Navigation Audio BT Connection
Car 2: 2009 - Ford Escape w/ a Microsoft Sync Stereo system - No complaining about Microsoft here...Apple doesn't make a stereo ...but this is one of Microsoft's better product offerings.
Black MacBook - 2 gigs/ram, 250 gig HD, intel processor, etc...
Iphone 3GS - OS 4.0
Prior to the OS 4.0 upgrade my blue tooth phone book access, blue tooth music access, hands free phone use, was just fine....pretty much in both vehicles my iPhone 3.1.2 worked just fine....
Now with the OS 4.0 - Not so much. My iPhone will only connect the hands free phone component with either of my car's stereos. I can not get either vehicle to accept an Stereo Audio Blue Tooth connection so I can listen to my music and control it from my iPhone.
On top of that prior to the upgraded OS I had an iPod/iPhone connection cable in my Jetta and it worked fine in the past. (At times I would use it instead of Blue Tooth because I would charge my iPhone using the adapter) Now my stereo will work for for a few minutes but eventually locks up and will not allow me to switch between artists, albums, playlists, etc...it will only let me continue to listen the current selection of music. Now I get a message on my iPhone that says this device may not be supported...it never had an issue in the past.
So I feel that most people are coming to the same consensus that the new OS has altered something in the blue tooth handshake/coding....I have already read a few of the "Apple does no wrong postings..." please don't respond...your opinions are obviously biased because Apple is far from perfect...and you input rarely does anything to help. As for anyone else who has some ideas - other than downgrade you OS, I would appreciate hearing something.

• Hooking up midi keyboard to work in Logic

I am using Logic Pro and am on a MacBook Pro (OS X 10.8.3).
I'm in the process of buying an Evolution MK-149 midi keyboard. It will come with a midi cable and 9V transformer, but what will I need to link this up to my mac to get it working with Logic?
I know that there are midi to USB cables and I assumed this is what I would need, but have been trying to read around and am now not sure whether or not I will need to buy a midi interface too.
If anyone could shed some light on this for me it'd be greatly appreciated! Bearing in mind I'm a bit of a novice, layman's terms would be useful just to help me along!
Thanks

Great - thank you.
Would you think something like the link below is sufficient, even though it's a little basic?

I am running mountain lion os 10.8.5 on mac book pro mid 2012 build.  If I upgrade to Mavericks will MS Office programs still work?  There does not appear to be an updated version of MS Office for Mac past 2011 that I bought last year and am using now.  Thoughts? Suggestions?
Thanks.

Office 2008 and 2011 will run on Mavericks, but you may not be able to get the installer for it at this time.
