Will "more space" option on the 15in rMBP use a lot of system resources?

Hey guys,
Looking to find out if having the most space option selected will use a lot of my avail ram(8GB) and/or dain my battery quickly as opposed to the best for retina option. I'm also wondering if would be dramatic or just slight difference. I won't be doing any heavy lifting at this option either.

I also noticed that when closing itunes that the itunes.exe process doesn't always close down and has to be shut down manually.

hmmmm. let's try an experiment. next time, prior to closing down itunes, try disabling your antivirus and antispyware first. do you get a better shutdown by your itunes.exe?
i've been seeing a few weird problems lately associated with antivirus and other security applications (apparently) interfering with reading and writing the itunes library files. in some cases it's caused slow shutdowns. in other cases, people have been getting weird "unknown error" codes. in one case it was a (-223):

i've suspected that something like this might be causing some of the anomalous (-50)s (not the Music Store or contacts-synching varieties) that show up in contexts where the library is being read/written too.
i haven't really got a handle yet on pecise causes and treatments, but it's something i'm starting to check for on a more-and-more regular basis ...

For example the app Modern Combat 4 says it should only be 1.58 GB on the appstore but when i go into settings>general>usage it says it takes up 2.0 GB.
Ive tried deleting the apps and then reinstalling them but they still take up so much more space.
This happens for multiple apps of mine. Some I have never even opened before.

Because you see the file size of the compuressed file. The file gets expanded when installed and that takes up more space. Also, data is kept in the app.

Go to the Store tab in iTunes and click on the Check For Available Downloads.

What does this join configuration message mean? I am a user not an administrator but I notice that sometimes I get this message when I am trying to create reports in Discoverer.
Currently I have a report that is using a control table and a detail table. I need to link to another table (not a detail table). The join did not exist but I was able to take a transaction and join to the table with sql. I asked that this join be created in Discoverer so I can link to the other table in the report and it was created, but when I go to pull in the field I need I get this message:
Join configuration cannot be resolved. Reason: more than 1 of the detail folders uses non-aggregated items.
Can this be resolved and if so how? We seem to get this message fairly often.

I am always leery of disabling fan traps, as it can cause errors with aggregation (and by errors, I mean including values multiple times). Make sure you check the documentation (the Disco user guide) for an explanation of fan traps, and the types of problems that can occur, and the check the results of your queries (or have the data owners do it) to make sure the results are valid.
I use the fan trap warning as an indication that there is something amiss in the BA, and then try to find the problem there. Sometimes the solution is changing a join (you can check the box that states there is a 1 to 1 relationship and that will also eliminate the fan traps), other times it is creating a view or custom/complex folder to specify how the data is to be joined. Rarely is the only solution to disable fan traps (and while I am on my soapbox, I'll add that I use it as a last resort).
Sometimes removing fan traps is the correct solution, but you need to test your reports to make certain the results are valid.

The reason your applications do not work in Lion/Mountain Lion is that they were written for the older PowerPC CPU that all Macs used up to 2006. When Apple made its transition to the Intel CPU, they licensed software that they included in all versions of OS X (from Tiger to Leopard and optionally, Snow Leopard) called Rosetta.
Rosetta miraculously allows PowerPC applications to work on the Intel processor transparently; you do not know it is even present.
The problem is that after 6 years of the transition, Apple's license to use the underlying software expired for OS X Lion and all version thereafter (and it is doubtful that the current owner of the software, IBM, would relicense it, even if Apple were inclined to do so).
So you do not have to accept recriminations from others for previously using Rosetta without even knowing it was present and running!
So for those of use that need to upgrade to Lion/Mountain Lion, I have offered the option to install Snow Leopard (with Rosetta) into Parallels 7:

Will be necesary to have the Trackpad to use Lion OS?

It sounds interesting how the trackpad will allow us to use a new set of gestures to use the new funcionality of Lion OS, but if I don't have a trackpad, will be possible to access the same functions like App Launcher?

I'm sure there are ways to use the keyboard or mouse to get to the same functions but it looks like it really takes advantage of multitouch gestures. I'd recommend buying a Magic Trackpad to take advantage of the features shown in the video.

When the airplane option is enabled, does it use a lot of megabytes?

There could be a possibility that I may move in the future to an area that doesn't get good 3G coverage. I understand that the airplane mode may boost the signal. I'm jut concerned that using said airplane mode may use a lot of mb's.

Oh, man, I feel truly stupid, lol. (I had read, unfortunately, after this post) in the owner's manual that the airplane mode is used for exactly the reason the 1st person to reply to this post had stated. Dunno, but some misguided apple tech or AT&T employee had told me that the airplane mode would boost a weak 3G signal.

HT1688 I did a back up and now trying to do the restore and it KEEPS saying there not enough space - I've deleted all kinds of things but it still keeps saying that. It shows more space available than what is actually used.

I'm tryin to get my iPhone 4s unlocked and I was told to do a back up and restore - well, over and over it says I don't have enough space for restore and I've already deleted a lot

My iDisk Storage says it's full on my Site Publishing page and won't let me publish but when I got to my account details page looking to buy more space it says I've only used 3MB out of 20GB. Why are they different? And why did it stop letting me publish?

I've been publishing just fine for the past few days and all of the sudden, when I click 'Publish Site' now, the 'content rights' pop up shows up. But then it wants me to sign into MobileMe (to which I'm already signed in). When I click 'sign in' it takes me to System Preferences > MobileMe > Account. I click on iDisk and it says "20.4 GB total, 2.7 MB used, 20.4 GB available"
(I'm not sure why my GB available is still the same even though I've used 2.7 MB.... it wouldn't really matter though if I was able to publish.)
I went back to iWeb to my Site Publishing Settings page and at the bottom there's a bar labeled 'iDisk Storage' and it's completely blue (meaning used).
I also went to my MobileMe account to 'Summary' and under 'Mail and iDisk Storage' it says '3 MB of 20 GB used'.
I'm assuming that it's not letting me publish because it thinks that I have run out of iDisk storage but I could be wrong. I just renewed my MobileMe account in Feb so I'm all payed up.. that shouldn't be the problem. Do you know of any other reasons why it won't let me publish?
I feel like something is wacky with my iDisk Storage either way.
I really hope all of this stuff makes sense. I'm fairly new to Mac and I'm still not sure about all of the lingo.

Try the following:
close iWeb.
delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your Home/Library/Preferences folder.
go to your Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder and delete its contents.
reboot.
launch iWeb and try again.
If that doesn't help continue with:
move the domain file from your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder to the Desktop.
launch iWeb, create a new test site, save the new domain file and close iWeb.
go to the your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder and delete the new domain file.
move your original domain file from the Desktop to the iWeb folder.
launch iWeb and try again.
