Will my charger work in europe

I live in Canada and have the new ipad, Iphone 4S that i am taking with me to Europe.  Do the chargers work over there or do i need use a converter?

Yes, they work fine. All you require are wall outlet plug adaptors such as in the Apple World Travel Kit.

  • Will my ipad work in Europe?

Will my ipad work in Europe? After I charged it with 220 electrical service it no longer works.

It should do, the iPad's charger is rated for 100 to 240 V
If you mean that your iPad isn't turning on then have you tried a soft-reset ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds, after which the Apple logo should appear.

  • 3rd Gen Ipod Classic - will USB charge work or only firewall?

I just inherited a 3rd Gen Classic Ipod. I don't have capability to charge with firewall - will USB charging work and if not, how to I charge it?

You need the same kind of charger as you returned, but instead of the USB one, you need the firewire one. Apple sells these.
The problem with not having a firewire port on your computer is that if the iPod is connected via USB, it won't charge whist it's transferring songs. This is a very large drain on the iPod's battery and you'll find that the battery runs out in the middle of the transfer (especially if it's a lot of songs you're transferring).
There used to be a cable that had both firewire and USB plugs on it so you could plug the firewire end into the wall charger and the usb end into your computer and so get power to the iPod whilst transferring data.
I haven't seen one of these cables for a while now, but Google might turn something up.
You could of course transfer very small amounts of songs from iTunes to iPod before the battery runs out, then re-charge via the wall charger, but this isn't an ideal solution.
    EDIT.
Here you go, this is the type of cable I mean.

  • Will iPad charger work for iPhone?

I have a trip coming up and will be taking along the iPad 2 and the iPhone 4. I'd only like to have to bring one charger for both, which is better the better one to bring? I've seen that the iPhone charger will charge the iPad much slower, and the iPhone will only charge at the speed it knows to. So it looks like the iPad charger is the one to bring for the quickest of the two, just making sure that is not going to harm anything, thanks!

As you've been told, take the iPad charger. It's 10 watts. No possible harm. The difference is in capability. The actual delivered power is controlled by the receiving device.

  • Will my Charger work on different models of phones...

I have been gifted a car charger for the 6100, but I own the 1600. I cannot find the power output rating for the 6100 charger to know if this adapter will work for my 1600 as well. I have accessed the user manuals online, but they do not indicate the power output ratings for the chargers for the 6100.
The plug itself fits, but i don't know the power rating and Im afraid to kill it. The car charger itself has odd codes written on it, but nothing indicating its actual power output!
    Any help would be appreciated!

I can resolve the issue if someone with a 6100 can tell me what the output rating of the charger is. The on-line manual does not indicate the output rating of the included charger for this model of phone.
If the 6100 and the 1600 have the same adapter output then I am fine.
you are fine, it can be used for both and it can still be used even for the newer nokis phones just as long as you have the 2mm adapter, in fact any nokia phone can be used with it...

  • Will my Mac work in Europe?

My family is moving to Holland at the end of the summer and we have a G5, two G4s and a MacBook. What do we need for our computers to work there? I know we need some kind of electrical converter...

    Hi Engboy,
Some G4's have auto-switching power supplies, and some require a switch changed on the back to switch between 110 and 240V.
All G5 PowerMacs are auto-switching, but some iMac G5's are 110V only
    Your Macbook will be fine.
Most high speed in Europe will provide an option to get a router, which will certainly have Ethernet.
    Enjoy the tulips.

  • Will this charger work?

I recently bought a charger online, not noticing that it had "for shuffle" in the name. The charger converts a power socket to a USB, it doesnt connect directly to the iPods port. My iPod is a 30gb 5g Video.
    Charger specs (from label):
    Input: AC110-240V 50Hz 120mA
    Output: DC5V (+- Sign)5%
    Max: 500MA Min: 50MA
Will this harm my 5g iPod with video, or charge it safely?
    Thanks, Ben
ps. Apple, It would be so much easier if you could include a wall charger!
    iPod 5G with video

Take a look at this one. The charger in the package seems to be the same one as you purchased, which is said to be compatible with all current iPod models.

  • If I buy an unlocked iPhone 5s in the U.S, will it then work in Europe(Norway)?

Will an unlocked iPhone 5s from the U.S work in Norway?

It will probably work, but only on 3G and because of the frequency differences between the US and other countries you will never get 4G.
Also remember that iPhone warranty is not international, so if anything goes wrong with the phone you are looking at getting on a plane and taking it back to the US.
If you want to use the phone in Norway, why on earth don't you buy it in Norway?  If you buy the phone in Norway, then you have EU warranty so any European country and you will also be able to get 4G because you have the correct frequency for your country.
I never really understand why people want to buy iPhones in the US and use them in European countries where it is perfectly easy to buy phones from in the first place and where Apple stores do exist?
You won't save any money and the iPhones in the US are not cheaper - they only look that way because most are carrier subsidised.  If you buy an unlocked phone from the US, then by the time you have paid local taxes and sales tax and then import duties, it will work out at the same cost anyway and then you won't have the warranty cover for your country and you also won't be able to get 4G either.

  • I have a 2009 Macbook Pro and the charger stopped working. Will this charger work for it, or do i have to find an old 1 online?

I've looked into the replacement program and i don't qualify.

Wil this work for an older macbook pro?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
That charger is perfect for your MacBook Pro, so you can buy it and use it with your computer. If you want, you can buy the 85W one, that provides more power and makes the battery charge faster, at least for the 15 and 17-inch MacBook Pro

  • Will iphone charger work with 220v?

    Hi Folks
My iphone and accessories was bought in the US
but i need to know whether i can plug it in to charge from a 220v socket, overseas?

Yes, the charger is rated 110-240 volts at 50-60 Hertz...all that is needed is a plug adapter...available at a lot of international airports.

  • Does I phone 4 charger cord work in Europe with only adaptor?

Does the I Phone cord/charger work in Europe with only an adaptor?

The mains charger is universal.  As you say, all you need is the correct plug adaptor to allow you to connect your charger to European sockets.  These are widely available in airports and duty free shops.

  • Will my ipad2 power source work in Europe?

Will my U.S. power cord work in Europe?

Yes, the iPad's AC charger will function fine in Europe, it is self adapting to the different voltages of electric currents available around the world. You will only need a wall outlet adapter.
Apple sells a rather pricey kit that has a USB cord, an AC charger and a set of interchangeable plugs for the different wall outlets that you could encounter during international travel, for the AC charger.
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB974ZM/B
But you should be able to find a less expensive set of plug adapters that you can plug the AC charger into and use it as is.
