Will my cp1518ni connect to my network wirelessly, or do i need to use an ethernet wired connection?

I cannot find out how to connect my cp1518ni to a network with out using the ethernet connection.  Is it possible to do it wirelessly?

No, sorry, your printer does not have wireless capability.  Ethernet cables can be very long, however.  Also you could invest in "powerline ethernet" that uses your home's electrical wireing for the Ethernet connection.

I have an HP LaserJet 8150N that I use for my work and I have had this printer for ever and it is one heck of a work horse! I am trying to get it connected via ethernet cable directly to my iMac. I always had this printer connected via a network so I don't know if I am able to connect directly with a cable since it is a network printer. I have tried to reconfigure the printer using the JetDirect menu giving it a new IP address but still no luck. If anyone could help me through this issue I would appreciate it.

Second, seeing "connecting" and connection failed is normal. You must click on "Connect As" in the Finder window and then enter the username and password for the admin account on the other computer. That should fix things.
    Thanks for responding.
When does clicking on "Connect As" happen in the process above?
    After step six? Seven?
    After the connection has failed?
Is this the FInder window that shows the icon of the computer you want to copy the file from?
You should see "Connect As" in the Finder near the top right of the window as shown below:

This subject has been talked/written about a lot, after Lion was introduced. A solution from Apple has not yet been published, everybody is waiting.
Try for instance https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3734081?start=15&tstart=0, but there are more discussion groups with the same subject: frequently lost WiFi-connections in newer Macs running Lion or up.

  • My iPad will no longer connect to my Linksys wireless router.  Every other electronic device in our house connects just fine.  What can I do?

I have an iPad (the earliest version) that used to connect to my Linksys wireless router with no difficulty.  One night recently I could not get on the internet through my iPad.  I checked the Wi-Fi information, which said it was not connected. When I go through the process of choosing a network, on which my home system is clearly listed along with a very strong signal strength, I am told that my iPad is unable to join my own network.  All the other electronic devices in our house are connected and functioning fine.  Can anyone walk me through the steps to correct this problem?
I need to add that I took my iPad to the Appple store, and the clerk there reset something--I don't know what--and my iPad was able to connect to their network.  When I came home, though, I was not able to connect to my home network.

If everything else is connecting with no issues, I would go into the wifi setting on the iPad and redo the info there, user, password and anything else related to your wifi at your house.
It is possible whatever he reset may have reset something to default setting which will not allow it to connect. If you need too then verify the wifi setting by comparing it with another device setting that works on your home network.
    Good luck

  • T1 Router connection to remote network - Wireless Solution please?

Can someone please provide me with advice on how to setup a network across multiple buildings using wireless technology. We are a non-profit organization that deals with rehabilitating your most unwanted troubled teens. Our campus consists of multiple "cottages" and little office buildings. We have a T1 connection to the internet that is housed out our main office building. We would like to connect the training facility which is 100 ft away from the office building that houses our Cisco T1 Router without having to lay cable. The training facility is already network via a network hub. The main office building is also networked via a Cisco 24 port switch - is there a way we can connect the two networks without using cable? We were looking into the new 802.11a wireless technology to bridge the two networks together.
Please provide your comments and suggestions.
    Thank you.

I have done what you wanted many times. I run connections all over town. My longest connection is soon to be from the top of the tallest building in town, 635 ft, to the top of a tower (300 ft) across town. This connection will be over 15 miles. I also provide the internet connection for the county. They have 2 radios to give them up to 20Mbits of bandwidth when they need to burst that high.
Anyway, what you want to do is simple. Use a BR-352 with 128 bit WEP. Although Cisco equipment is secure, the Bridge mode (versus the Access point mode) allows for one more level of security (the bridges run under a Cisco protocol and the hackers running around with ‘Netstumbler’ typically do not have a $1500 bridge to do their ‘war driving’). If you want to ability to connect with laptops (while you roam in the general area) and desktops, you will need to put your bridge in access point mode (note that this is still secure).
Since your application is building to building, you will probably need 50-150 feet of cable (unless you put the radio in a weather protected box next to the antenna). You can kill your system if you do not do this right. You want your radio as close to the antenna as possible. You need to use LMR-400 for short runs or LMR-600 for longer runs (I use LMR-600 or large cable for all of my runs, and stopped using LMR-400 all together). The LMR-XXX waveguide has loss. You MUST MINIMIZE loss. You can add an amplifier if the situation dictates, but you must still minimize loss. You want to use directional antennas when possible. You want the highest gain antennas you can find (the more directional, the more gain… i.e. a 6 degree beam width grid antenna has more gain then a 30 degree beam width yagi). I do not use Cisco antennas. The selection is not good.
    Basic configuration:
Radio BR-352 Bridge (Always get and use 128 bit WEP encryption)
    to
Adapter to jumper from Cisco RTNC (Reverse TNC) connector to a standard N-Type connector
    To
    Lightning arrestor
    To
    LMR-600 waveguide
    To
    Antenna
    Add an amplifier if necessary
    Special Tools and Parts:
    LMR-600 crimping tool
    LMR-600 N-male ends
Waterproofing (you get water in your cable and you might as well throw it away… and it is tough to trouble shoot too)
Grounding Kit for LMR-600 (you ground your cable just before it enters the building
    Cat-5e
    Other Misc tools and supplies

  • No signal even if the computer says i am connected to the network wirelessly,

I HAVE A  HP PAVILION MEDIA CENTER a1547c DESKTOP PC ,I HAVE CONFIGURED IT TO CONNECT TO A WIRELESS NETWORK AND IT SAYS I AM NOW CONNECTED BUT IT ALSO SAYS NO SIGNAL, WHAT IS THE PROBLEM?IT HAS A BELKIN G WIRELESS ADAPTER...EMAIL ME AT [Personal Information Removed]  thanks ,it has WINDOWS XP MEDIA CENTER EDITION SERVICE PACK 2 OS.THE BELKIN WIRELESS G DESKTOP CARD #2 IS FLASHING THE GREEN LIGHT LIKE A DISCO LIGHT WHEN I TURN ON THE COMPUTER..i have diagnosed the connection, it says failure in IP,GATEWAY, DNS..WHAT IS THE SOLUTION?

My computer says I am connected to wifi, but when I go to use the Internet, I am not connected.
Usually when this occurs on one Wifi and Internet connection, the wifi router is working, but the router connection to the Internet Service Provider is broken. Resetting the modem or router/modem combination often results in a new connection to the ISP being established (baring any data caps limits, line, modem or ISP troubles)
However your mentioning it's not connecting anywhere your going on wifi or Internet, which could mean your machine has been compromised and possibly blacklisted until it's cleaned up of malware, or you tried to self solve your earlier issues and messed up your Network settings.
I tend to lesser think it's a actual hardware problem, but it might come to that eventually.
You should test the compromised/blacklist theroy by using a Ethernet cable to the modem you know has a good Internet on and powering on/off the modem. (if a router/modem combination, then no need). If you get Internet and not kicked off in a few minutes, then your machine is fine, likely messed up Network settings are too blame.
You can clear everything out by creating a New Location by editing locations and creating a new one, also by going to Airport Advanced > Airport and deleting all the previous connections to start over new. Reboot.
Connect manually to your home network and save in Keychain when it asks.
If this is all too much for you, take it to a local PC/Mac repair shop as they specialize in software/network issues.

  • HT4260 Airport in Bridge Mode - can you use its ethernet to connect other devices?

If I buy a 2nd Airport Extreme to set up in bridge mode via ethernet, can I then connect other devices, such as a Roku or Apple TV via ethernet to that 2nd Airport? I prefer using a wired connection for Roku as wireless is very wonky most of the time. Will that work?

    Yes

  • How do I access my time capsule using a Ethernet cable connected to my pc?

I am trying to access my saved files on my time capsule. I don't have internet so I'm trying to use an Ethernet cable.  I'm using a PC laptop not a Mac.  I have no idea how to access them.

Load the airport utility for windows.. as that helps by loading the bonjour for windows service.
Then open windows explorer and type the IP of the TC directly which you will find in the airport utility.
\\10.0.1.1 (that is default.. replace with whatever the actual is).

  • Can I use my iphone5 to create a hotspot and then connect a device that requires a ethernet cable to a lan(router) this router obviously needs to use my hotspot to connect?

I need to setup Solar inverters remotely some times and I am looking to see if there is a way to use my iphone to connect the inverter to the internet.  My thought is to create a hotspot and then connect the inverter to a router(it has a ethernet cable that can plug into a lan)  The router is then connected to my iphone.  So something similar than a dongle I suppose?

If you're wanting to share your hot spot with a device that requires an Ethernet connection, you need a device that can connect to Wi-Fi while providing access to that connection via Ethernet.  One idea might be to configure an AirPort Express to serve as a Wi-Fi extender of your hot spot, and plug the solar inverter to the Ethernet port on the Express.

  • I have a Lexmark Prevail Pro 705 printer connected to my network wirelessly. I can no longer scan from it using Image Capture. I can print to it. I can scan from it using a Windows machine. Most updated firmware. Driver v 11.0 Any ideas?

I have a Lexmark Prevail Pro 705. Latest (as of july 30, 2012) firmware. Mac driver v 11.0
I can no longer communicate wirelessly with the scan feature of the printer. I can print no problem using a wireless connection. Using a window's machine I can scan wirelessly from the printer. It seems that my iMac (OSX 10.8, 3.06 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, 24inch early 2009) is not connecting to it. I can put a USB cord into the computer and scan.
Any ideas? This came up starting 2 weeks ago. I had hoped the operating system upgrade would solve it. It has not. I see nothing on the Lexmark boards about this. Since the printer works fine in both print an scan mode using a windows machine and can print fine from a Mac but not scan I don't have any ideas but I suspect it is the Mac.

  • Windows 8 can either launch vm in hyper-v or connect to wifi networks, but not both. Needs a reboot to switch mode. Any idea?

    Hello guys,
New here for a problem I think is quite weird. Got the MBA 2013 i7
When I boot Windows from OS X > Startup Disk > Boot Windows, I can launch a virtual machine in hyper-V, so that's cool, but I can't see an wifi networks available, so no internet.
If I reboot to Windows directly from Windows (bootcamp options), I connect without pain to any wifi but I cannot launch a vm in Hyper-V anymore (the Windows Phone 8 emulator to be precise). It says hardward virtualization is not enabled in BIOS.
Seems to me it loads either the wifi driver, either the VT-x. Any ideas?

People I have some good news!!! The problem is in BootCamp!!!!!!
I'm now able to run the Windows Phone emulator on a Windows 8.1 bootcamp!
This is what you have to do.... for everytime you want to use the emulator you must follow this steps:
    - Shut computer completly off;
    - turn it on and hold the Alt key to boot in MAC OS;
    - go to settings, bootcamp and choose Windows, then click restart.
On this session you will be able to run the emulator with no problems!!!! if you turn off your computer and boot automatically to windows the error will appear again!
Hope I helped out some of you!!!

  • Aris TG1682 wireless slow and ethernet wired connection

Have been having a problem with Wireless speeds. The Comcast tech has replaced my single band gateway with a dual band Tg1682g. Did not improve wireless speeds. Have Blast up to 150m. Speed test is about 30-50.When i attach with a wire, I can see the ethernet adapter dropping and reconnecting on the network adapter page. Have two PCs. One at Windows 10 and one at 8.1. Speed test will run wired and shows 30-40. Saw on the forum that this a new gateway so wondering if it has the correct firmware and settings ? also tried using bridge mode to eliminte wireless completely and still see adapter dropping. tech coming back next week to prove my computers are the problem.

You may want to call Comcast and have them check to see if your gateway has the appropriate firmware for your speed tier.

  • My MacBook pro stopped connecting to my apple wireless keyboard a while ago.  Since it won't connect to a second one, I suspect it's a computer issue.   Software thoughts?  Updates I've missed?  Thanks

About a year ago, my computer and my keyboard stopped connecting.  I attributed it to a failed keyboard.  Didn't use it much.
Tried today with a second apple wireless keyboard, and it won't connect via blue tooth, either.
Could this be a software/firmware issue that it well known?  Or the bluetooth card on my computer is dead?
    Thoughts?

And, I get a message saying that the "device does not have the required services."
    Thanks again.

  • Do i need to use the ethernet connection?

I use the verizon Westell 7500 modem. The computer is configured to run as a wireless device.
I'm sort of confused!!!Do I need to make a connection from the apple tv ethernet port to my modems ethernet connections.
TheApple tv amnual makes no mention about this. This makes me thin the whole setup is wireless, but I'm still scratching my head.
Is this a case of much ado about nothing?

No all it is is a way to connect. If you plug in via ethernet it will use that. If you just connect apple TV to your wifi network it will use that. It makes no difference. Obviously ethernet is quicker if you're streaming movies.

  • Firefox 4 will take too much time to re-calibrate to how I need to use it.

Firefox 4 seems to have some nice features, but I don't have the better part of a day to track down substitutes for Add-Ons that no longer work with v.4, figure out how to get my toolbars to display in ways that aren't entirely dysfunctional for me, and so fort. So no thanks. Maybe if you could upgrade to v.4 without changing the look, feel, usability, and general practicality of the application, I'd be more interested. I've gone back to Firefox 3.6.

    Thanks John.
