Will my DVD installed iWork 09 update or do I need to purchase the new apps

I have installed on my Mac mini iwork 09 (from a DVD) will I need to purchase the new iWork apps or will they update for free?

I had the same problem and got it working. Here's what I did:
Moved the iWork '09 folder from Applications to the trash (didn't empty it though )
Sign out of the App Store and quit.
Open the App Store and sign in again.
Move the iWork '09 folder back to Applications.
Clicked on Updates in the App Store, and refreshed the page.
The three apps showed up with an Upgrade button instead of the price/buy app button. Had to re-enter my account ID and password to associate the apps with my account. After all that (and a couple hours before ), the apps started appearing in the App Store on my other computers.

I need to install Mozella Firefox 2.0 to fill out a form that is not supported to input info from the newer version that is installed on my PC. Do I need to delete the newer version before using the older version? If so, how do I delete the new version and install the older version?

If you just need it for one site you can use the portable version of Firefox 2 instead. You can install the portable version on a USB key, or if one is not available choose the custom install and install it somewhere on your hard drive. The portable version will not interfere with your current version of Firefox. You can get the portable version from http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox_portable - the link for Firefox 2.0.0.20 is near the bottom of that page.

You don't have to update if you don't want to, but if you do you'll need to purchase, yes.

I already have iWork 09 on my computers.  Will I have to buy the new app from the App Store?

    Larry,
After you install Mavericks, run Software Update. You should be offered the updates in the normal update mode. No charge.

  • I just installed the latest version of iTunes to get the updates and new software on my iPod but it hasn't updated my iPod or put any of the new software on there either.  How to I get the software to sync onto my iPod?

I just installed the latest version of iTunes to get the updates and new software on my iPod but it hasn't updated my iPod or put any of the new software on there either.  How to I get the software to sync onto my iPod?

Are you sure it's not 6.1.6?  If it is, that is the latest iOS version that will work on a 4th generation iPod Touch.  Later versions require a 5G iPod which has twice as much RAM.

  • Hi there, I have installed iTune on my new Toshiba laptop which runs on Win 8.  I can update itune on Toshiba laptop, sync but the iphone Apps still showing app to be updated.  Restarted both Itune

Hi there, I have installed iTune on my new Toshiba laptop which runs on Win 8.  I can update itune on Toshiba laptop, sync but the iphone Apps still showing app to be updated.  Restarted both Itune and iphone....reset phone backup....to no avail.....HELP!

I have removed now all bloatware from laptop, CCleaner run and some more stuff: installed Libre Office, Free Avast, Mozilla Firefox - Spotify was preinstalled. And now this is even better - really simple and fast.
I also removed Ethernet completely, as I don't want to be locked at one place. It's not cool to use laptop on divan sofa. So tired after hour of sitting in uncool position. Wifi speed loss is almost 50%. 95 Mbps I get from 100 Mbps at Ethernet and on Wifi in laptop I get at max 50 Mbps. It's only for end this year this way, then I will slow down my connection anyway as for one person and laptop/smartphone it's way too much of speed for 40 €. With 27€ I can get the same 10M/10M and it will be more than enough. Now I have 100M/10M.
I'm also considering about 50M/10M option for 32.90 €, but I will see what I do. I download now test file 10GB and it loads 30-40 Mbps and sometimes even as fast as 50 Mbps. It depends on server also, but ebven on Google, which works on Ethernet at 95 Mbps, it is on Wifi nothing more than 51 Mbps.
It's also 10GB of 1,100 Offlined tracks, I tested it now. So on trips 32GB card should be enough for my phone. I'm going to one soon :)

  • I have just purchased the new macbook pro 15" and see that it comes with 2 discs in the box, one being Mac OS X and the other being Applications Install DVD. Are these pre installed? or do I need to insert the discs and install them?

All has been installed. Those are there in case you need to do a reinstall. Unlike most Windows based hardware vendors these days. Apple still ships software you might need in case a drive fails. Even in the case of the new MacBook Air, Apple ships the software on a flash drive.

  • By updating my iphoto will my old pictures automatically be transferred into the new app. or will they be lost?

My iphoto 6 importer for facebook wont sign in anymore so I am thinking of updating it to iphoto 7.
    I have a Mac OS X 10.4.11
I wanted to check if my old library of photos will automatically transfer across to the new iphoto 7, or will they be deleted?
If so how do I save them to reinstate into the new app.? I already have an external harddrive that everything is saved on, but Im not very good with computers so I hope it just transfers.

Thank you both for your prompt replies
I do have an external hard drive that backs up everything on my computer every week.
I just wondered about my iphoto library being transferred or would I have to manually do it.
I know I have an old computer.
I would also like to upgrade my safari 4.1.3 browser or add another that works better, but nothing else seems to work. I cant afford another computer unfortunately.

    Upgrading to Mavericks
You can upgrade to Mavericks from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mavericks can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for FREE.
    Upgrading to Mavericks
To upgrade to Mavericks you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Download Mavericks from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mavericks is free. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
        OS X Mavericks- System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mavericks
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
         Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table - RoaringApps.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mavericks, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion at the Online Apple Store. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
