Will my iCloud photos fill up my new iOS device too?

Hi. I'm new to this so I hope I make my question clear. I have had an iPod touch 5th generation since Christmas 2012. Since then, I have been sent requests to join many photo streams from my family and friends. Because of this, my iCloud is now extremely close to full, meaning that soon I won't be able to receive any more photos. Today, I am getting an iPad mini, due to my iPod being no longer sufficient for my needs. I want my iPad to be created with my same Apple ID, and have access to my app/song/book purchases. Firstly - can I do this and choose what copies over, or will the contents of my iPod and iPad have to be exactly the same? I want the option to copy my purchases over if I want. (My iPod is full so I don't want to copy everything and fill up my iPad immediately, too (they are both the same amount of storage). Secondly - if I sign into my new iPad with the same Apple ID that I used for my iPod, will the contents of iCloud have to copy over too? My ideal for this situation is to have the choice to copy content from my iPod across, and not be in the situation of "it's all or nothing". I hope this makes sense and would really appreciate some quick responses. Thanks for reading.

  • I just wanna buy a new iOS device and I'm confused between the iPod touch 5th generation, iPhone 4s 8GB, iPad 4th generation 16GB and iPad mini with the retina display 16GB model. Please help me figure out.

I have an iPhone 4s 16GB Model and I've been using it for about more than an year now. The reason I wanna get a new iOS device is because my 4s has got lots of scratches now and it's ambient light sensor seems not to work properly. Apparently, another reason is that the iLife and iWork suit are not free for me as my device is older and new devices get those softwares for free.
I thought to go with a new iPhone 4s again but the problem is that new 4s come with only 8GB of storage and they don't support AirDrop. So next, I thought to go with an iPod touch 5th gen because of its jaw-dropping design, bigger screen, more storage and AirDrop support. Because iPod touch is phone-less iPhone and they come at affordable price, I can also buy any cheap cell phone like moto e to replace my current iPhone 4S.
Another options that I thought a little bit on, is iPad 4th Gen and iPad mini with Retina display 16GB.
Now, should I just stick with my current 16GB iPhone 4s, or get a new one.
Or should I buy an iPod touch 5th gen and moto e (since iPod can't make phone calls)
Or should I go with one of the two iPad models that I aforementioned.
    Awaiting your valuable suggestions.
    Thank you!

by Belkin, so a place to start.
They're a lot more expensive, but Griffin has some of their 'survivor' cases with sealed ports, so you could cover up the ones you don't need.
If best buy isn't an option for you, at least there's a manufacturer to look for.

  • How to sync iCloud photos on iPhone to new MacBook Air

How can I sync the photos on my iPhone to my new MacBook Air? I have been assuming that when I back up my phone, my photos and videos are on my iCloud account and could, in principle, be synced to my MacBook Air. Is this possible?

The iCloud backup is storing your Camera roll photos, but you can only use it to restore the iPhone.  See:  iCloud: Backup and restore overview
Either connect the iPhone to a USB port and download your Camera Roll directly to iPhoto or Aperture, or enable the Photo Stream on your iPhone and on your mac. That will upload all photos from the Camera Roll to iCloud, and you can download them from the Photo Stream to iPhoto or Aperture. See:  iCloud: Photo Stream FAQ

  • ICloud Photos  shows different counts in different devices

    Hi,
I am using iCloud Photos on the following devices:
    1. iPhone 5
    2. iPad
    3. Apple TV
    4. PC
The issue is I see  1 and 2  aboveshows a count of 587 while 3 and 4 shows a count of 283 onlly.
How are these counts being calculated and is it normal to be different across my devices?
My understanding was that since photos are in a, so-called "cloud", the counts should ideally be the same as all these four devices look up to the cloud to get the photos.
Can some please advise if I need to do any step to sync up the countd across all my devices?
    Thanks in advance,
    Ray

    That's perfectly normal.
Photo stream on each device will only start adding photos from when photo stream is enabled, it will then only keep them in the cloud for 30 days. If you enable photo stream on a device later than on another any photos added to the first device that are over 30 days old won't be added to the second device.

  • ICloud mail not being pushed to iOS devices

    Hello there,
I've been having an issue with receiving new iCloud mail messages on my iPhone and iPad. They are not being automatically pushed to my iOS devices. They arrive normally to my MacBook and iCloud.com.
I've tried the steps on the offical support page and it recommends deleting the iCloud account and then readding it.
    My question is:
If I do this, will all my photos automatically redownload to the 'My Photo Stream' album in Photos?
    Thanks.

No, only photos from the last 30 days will be redownloaded; older photos are no longer in iCloud and will be lost.  If you want to save your photo stream photos save them to your camera roll first (open your my photo stream album, tap Select, tap the photos, tap the share icon -- box with upward pointing arrow, then tap Save to Camera Roll).

  • Unable to add additional photos to shared photo stream, not updating on iOS devices either.

I am sharing photos from a vacation with family and I am not able to add additional photos to the photo stream. I set it up in iPhoto on my Mac. I think it originally tapped out for some reason because I hit a daily limit for number of photos uploaded. I had about 440 photos in the photo stream. I went and deleted some photos and now have 350 but the iOS devices haven't dropped down to that number yet. When I manually drag a new photo to add to the photo stream it doesn't add. Any thoughts on how to correct?

I turned off photo sharing in iphoto and then turned it back on and that resolved the issue.

  • Key Photo lost when synching with iOS devices

    Hi and thanks for reading.
I have noticed that in the last months, when I synch my iPhoto Events with my iPhone one iPad, the Events on iOS devices are not labelled by the same key photos I have on the MAC on iPhoto.
    Does anybody know the reason?
    Thanks bye

The iphone/ipad is not a backup/storage device.  They simply mirror the selected content of the computer to which you sync.
Copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to the new one.

How do I access Mountain Lion's PDF documents on my iOS devices after storing them in iCloud?  I tried iBooks, but they're not there.

  • Update iCloud account and apple id on iOS devices

    Hello,
How to update apple id and iCloud account on my IOS devices after having changed them on my Mac ?
    Thank you in advance

If you have 'Find My (device)' set up you have to log out of that with the old password - this may or may not work. If you don't have it set up you should be able to log out (on an iOS device: Settings>iCloud and click 'Delete Account' - this will not delete the account from the server).
If you are unable to do this you will have to contact Support. Go to https://getsupport.apple.com ; click' See all products and services', then 'More Products and Services, then 'Apple ID', then 'Other Apple ID Topics' then 'Lost or forgotten Apple ID password' (this is probably the nearest subject available).

  • HT204053 How many iCloud account can created in one iOS device?

Thanks! And if I restore the iPhone will affect to 3 accounts that I havecreated?

  • Can I use iCloud to stream videos to my iOS devices, similar to Apple TV?

Basically I want to know if it's possible to stream my video purchases from iTunes to my iOS devices the same way Apple TV does. And if connecting my iPod Touch to the same cloud would do the trick.
I tried using home sharing but it's not very practical since I have to leave my laptop on in order for it to work.

You should be able to if your device is signed in with the Apple ID used to purchase the movies in Settings>iTunes & App Store, with Videos turned on under Show All.  You should then be be able to open the Videos app, tap Movies, tap the one you want to play, then tap the play arrow.
Note: this has nothing to do with your iCloud account.  This is a separate services called "iTunes in the Cloud", which is based on your iTunes Apple ID, not your iCloud account ID (although they may be the same).

  • Is there a way to sync your iCloud tabs between my Mac and iOS devices, but without syncing my bookmarks?

I sync my bookmarks between my iPad (3rd gen) and my iPhone 5, but I don't want them to sync with my Mac's because many of the bookmarks I have on my iOS devices are websites designed for mobile devices, or at least they're not the desktop version of them. That just makes it simple for my iOS devices. On my Mac however, I have many websites I don't need or want on my iPhone such as foursquare, Nike+, and PayPal because I already have the apps on my iPhone and iPad. But one thing I realized was that on the Mac, if you want to use iCloud in Safari, there is no option to not sync bookmarks and just use the iCloud tabs, not that I know of anyway. I was hoping there was a way to solve that, one that I might not have seen or thought of yet?

I think that cloud privacy concerns are overdone - especially with Apple who don't have a vested interest in snooping through your data like Google does!
Do you use email?  It's stored in the cloud on the providers servers - no matter who the provider is.
Do you use SMS on a phone?  They're stored on a server somewhere!
Do you use the internet?  The logs are stored at your ISP for some period of time - tracking everywhere you've been.
Thats why I am comfortable to use iCloud for most of my documents.  If I want to transfer files very securely, I put them in an encrypted disk image on Dropbox.
    Cheers,
    Rodney

  • How do I download iLife on my MacBook Pro (for free) after purchasing a new iOS device

    Hello,
I watched the most recent keynote address just like everybody else and was very happy to hear that Apple was going to provide the new iLife and iWork software for free with the purchase of a new Mac device or iOS device. So, I went and purchased a new iPhone 5S. Now how do I get my free copy of this software on my MacBook Pro (Mid-2010) running Mavericks?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Marcus

You must be running Mavericks and have purchased the iLife 11 apps, either they came with the Mac or from a purchased iLIfe 11 disk, in order to upgrade to iPhoto 9.5 for free.
The following came from this MacWorld article: What you need to know about Apple's free apps policy | Macworld
If you own iLife '11 or iWork ’09 apps (or v1 iOS apps) and you got them from the Mac App Store or iOS App Store: You should be able to download the latest versions for free by going to the app page on the Mac or iOS App Store.
If you own iLife '11 or iWork ’09 apps for the Mac but did not purchase them from the Mac App Store: You should be able to download the latest versions for free by going to the Mac App Store and tapping Update, though you may need to first visit the Purchases screen, where you might see a box called “You Have [number] Apps to Accept.” This ties apps you have on your computer to both your Apple ID and a hardware identifier on your computer, and it should allow you to download free updates to these programs from any computer associated with your Apple ID.
Some users (including yours truly) are reporting issues where the Mac App Store doesn’t recognize their copies; when they click on an iLife or iWork app’s price, they receive the following alert: “[App] is already installed and was not purchased from the Mac App Store. Do you want to buy [app]?” Macworld spoke with an Apple spokesperson who noted that there’s currently an issue with some legacy customers, and the company is working on a fix. That fix appears to have been implemented; on Thursday, several users told Macworld that they were getting the Accept Apps prompt.
If you don’t own iLife '11 or iWork ’09 apps (or v1 iOS apps), or own older Mac versions: On the iLife side, you’ll have to buy iMovie and iPhoto at full price ($15 or $5, depending on platform). GarageBand is free for everyone to download, though the app does offer in-app purchases. Apple’s iWork apps are each $20 for the Mac, $10 on the iPhone or iPad.
