Memory  4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Graphics  ATI Radeon HD 4670 256 MB
Software  OS X 10.8.4 (12E55)
Here are the game's recommended system requirements:
OS: Windows 7 / Windows 8
Processor:2nd Generation Intel Core i5 processor (or greater)
Memory: 4GB RAM
Graphics:1024 MB DirectX 11 compatible graphics card.
DirectX®:11
Hard Drive:35 GB HD space
Screen Resolution: 1920x1080
So, will the game run smoothly?
Thanks for your time.

My system information:
Prosesser 2.9 GHz intel i5

I have a imac 10.5.8 with 1 GB of memory. If i upgrade to 3 GB of memory will i then be able to run mountain lion ?

What year, CPU speed and screen size is your iMac?
It appears as if it's one of the 2006 models that can only take up to 4 GBs of RAM, but only 3 GBs is recognized.
3-4 GBs of RAM is really the working minimum amount for OS X, alone.
The minimum iMac hardware spec for OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion is a mid 2007 model iMac.
2006 models cannot run Mountain Lion, but can run OS X 10.7 Lion.
If you have a mid 2007 or newer iMac, my advice would be to install, at least, either 6 or 8 GBs of RAM.
OS X, by itself, to run smoothly, quickly and efficiently can use between 3-4 GBs of RAM leaving virtually no RAM for any additional applications.
If you have an iMac that can take more than 8 GBs of RAM, think of installing more if you can afford it.
Purchase reliable Mac RAM from online vendors Crucial or OWC (Other World Computing) also known as macsales.
    Good Luck!

If I install VM Fusion or Parallels, does Windows run all the time? How does that affect computer performance? and how much do I need to worry about hard drive corruption?
Current versions of Fusion and Parallels are compatible with Yosemite. Both are applications which you only run when you want to run Windows within them. As such, there's no effect on computer performance when they're not in use. Like any other software, there is some additional load on your Mac when both Windows and the Mac OS are running together, but any noticeable effect depends on what each is being expected to do and what resources (e.g. available RAM and the number of CPU cores) you can devote to each.
I think there's less chance of HD corruption with a VM than there is with running Windows natively on the Mac in Boot Camp. Consider that, with a VM, you can create Snapshots of the state of your VM at a given time, and then, if something goes wrong (virus, malware, software installations), you can simply restore the Snapshot in a matter of seconds and eliminate the problems in the process. Moreover you can make a backup copy of the entire VM file, and replace a later version if you wish. Also consider that you can assign, say, 100GB of HD space to the VM, but the actual space devoted to the VM is only what's actually used; as more is needed, more is made available and Windows can't tell the difference. So, for example, my Win 7 Pro VM has an 80 GB virtual HD but only takes up 45 GB on my SSD, and that's with XP Mode in VPC installed inside it.
Microsoft no longer supports XP, though virus signature updates are still being issued. But MS has installed a pop-up message about EOL that won't go away (it's installed with KB2934207). Even if you remove that KB in Add and Remove Software, the pop-up continues. But if you have a Snapshot or a backup which is prior to it's original installation, you can skip installing KB2934207, and suppress it's reappearance on a Software Update list.

  • If I upgrade my OS to 10.8, will I still be able to run iWork?

I have an iMac from 2008; my wife just got a new iMac to replace her G-5(!).  I am still running OS 10.5.8; she is now on 10.8.  It seems to make sense for us to both be on the same OS (doesn't it?), but I don't want to have to spend tons of cash to do so.  If I upgrade my OS from 10.5.8 to 10.6 to 10.8, will I still be able to run iWork (specifically Pages and Numbers), or will I have to upgrade the software, too?  I also see that OS 10.8 needs 2G of memory, which is all I have.  So upgrading memory would be another expense.  I'm trying to figure out if I'm better off upgrading this machine,or selling a kidney and getting a new iMac.  Any thoughts?

iWork will run fine. 2GB is the minimum. Although it will not have optimal performance, I say it should be OK. I have Lion installed on my MacBook with 2GB and it runs fine, Mountain Lion is not much worse.

iCloud only works with 10.7 Lion according to what I've heard, to get 10.7 you have to upgrade to 10.6.8 then download 10.7 from the MacAppStore. Then only to a 64 bit Intel Mac, no Core Duo's. Also you need 2GB of RAM, but many say you really need 4GB.
CS2 will NOT work on 10.7 for sure, it might not run on 10.5/10.6 neither.
CS2 is rather dated, you'll have to check with Adobe exactly what you can do first, IMMO don't bother.
You won't achieve your goal, so it's best to stay right where you are and run that machine until it drops less you break something.
Next machine you buy, it will be 10.7 and you'll have to buy a new CS5/6 whatever etc.
    Also new printers/scanners etc.
Something to plan for, I'd wait for all your software/drivers to be Lion ready first, then wait for the bugs to get out before purchasing a new Mac.

I have an early 2011 macbook pro 13" running 10.6.8, if i upgrade to osx mavericks 10.9.1 will I still be able to run powerpc applications?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Mac OS X 10.6.8 is the last Mac OS X version that supports PowerPC applications, so if you upgrade to OS X Mavericks, you will lose the ability to use PowerPC applications.
I recommend you to look for upgrades to those apps, but if you cannot or any of your apps are not available for Intel-based Macs, a different option you have is to create a second partition and install OS X Mavericks there, so you can still use your old apps by starting up into Snow Leopard. To create the partition > http://pondini.org/OSX/DU3.html

  • Running Windows 7 via bootcamp but cannot update to either 3.1 or 3.2. My MAC OS is 10.6.8

I am running Windows 7 via bootcamp but cannot update to either 3.1 or 3.2. My MAC OS is 10.6.8.
I can  download either version, but I get an error message after attempting to install.
First tried Boot Camp 3.2.  Error message indicated I need Boot Camp 3.1 first.
Then tried Boot Camp 3.1. Error message indicated I need Boot Camp 3.0 first
Then tried Boot Camp 3.0. Would not allow download.
I know the OSX came with Boot Camp why is there a problem????!!

3.0 is on your OS X DVD. Clearly spelled out in the guide in Boot Camp Assistant, and here -
www.apple.com/support/bootcamp : manuals, look for 10.6 pdf version.
3.0 is pre-requisite for any other
OS X comes with Boot Camp Assistant and you access 3.0 drivers while in Windows.

  • Will a iMac G5 work to run Logic 8 smoothly?

I am looking to buy an iMac soley to run Logic. I am using Logic 7 right now but will probably upgrade in the next 6 mo. I am trying to make the most cost efficient decision... as much as I would like to get a brand new iMac it seems like it may make sense to go ahead and get something cheaper if it can run logic smoothly. As I mentioned, the only thing I will be doing is running logic on the machine... will a iMac G5 work? I was thinking about getting a 2.0Ghz + processor and then probably upgrading the RAM. Any and all feedback is very much appreciated, thanks!

Well for one thing, I don't think the OP will have much luck trying to add UAD cards to an imac, seeing as there's no option for PCI cards.. Secondly, an imac G5 vs a G5 tower isn't a fair comparison given that the imac G5s were only single core vs dual core or more, so a lot slower where it counts.
To the OP: "running logic smoothly" can mean a lot of things. If you want better advice, you should give an outline of what you expect to do with logic. For example, if you just want to do basic multitracking, recording guitar/vocals etc, and use a small handful of software synths, then you'd probably be OK. But if you're expecting to be able to make extensive use of all of the plug ins and software synths that come with logic, and any other AU ones you might have, then I'd say forget about it. Any current model intel mac, or a second hand intel mac from the past 2 years or so will be a much much smarter move.

  • Running Windows 7 via Bootcamp - USB Device Not recognized.

I am running Windows 7 64 bit via Bootcamp on my MacBook Pro (2012 non-retina display). USB devices are not being recognized within Windows 7 (USB Device Not Recognized error).
I have done some research and tried a few possible solutions but nothing has worked so far. Here is what I have tried:
    - Uninstalling all USB drivers within windows and then restarting to let Windows re-install the drivers.
    - Uninstalling Intel 3.0 USB Host Contoller and restarting Windows.
    - Repairing the drivers using Bootcamp setup.
    - Uninstalling bootcamp and re-installing bootcamp services.
The USB drives are working fine within OS X, just having issues in Windows.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Will the Macbook  be able to run Vista?

Its MS new OS due out 07/ you need 1 G RAM, and a graphic's card with 256 mb, to use its full features.
I just came from several PC vender sites like Alienware
and the prequalifcation data is all over the PC side of web.

hmmm? doesn't seem like yal have done it to know?
yes it can. I have done it. it runs fine, but I didn't like it. I actually think XP is better. just the look of it isn't too impressive, seems child like. alot of features were copied from OS X. I removed it the next day cause I didn't like it. but nice to say I ran Vista on a mac a year before it even came out. its worth the experience of doing it, I'll say that.
in case you do it, things to do to get it to work"
MAKE SURE TO BACKUP YOUR HD BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING
    1. remove the 200MB partition when it asks which partition to install to.(this is what allows Bootcamp to work, once you delete the partition, Bootcamp no longer works should you need to delete it)
    2. once installed reinsert the install disk and run system repair to fix a boot error that will come up.
*3. if you do decide to remove it, its a nuisance, you have to back up your mac HD to an external drive, boot from it, use disk utility to format your macbook HD, it will bring back that 200 MB partition for bootcamp. then use Disk utility to restore your macbook HD from the external drive.

Im looking to see if it can run those games on medium/low settings. Thanks!

    Hi DubstepParrot,
Good question!  I took a look over the laptop and also over the games and it would look like they may run, however I don't know how high of settings you may be able to achieve.  The specifications appear to meet the minimum requirements, which is why it's hard to say how far you can take the graphics.
If you do purchase it, I'd certainly advise starting low and measuring your performance.  You can then work your way up to see if improvements to the settings allow you to continue to play successfully.
    Thanks so much!

  • What OS will my Macbook be able to run?

    Hi guys,
I have decided to dust off the cobwebs from my very old MacBook c~2006 (1.83 GHz MacBook (MA254LL/A)) and upgrade it to use as a spare living room computer.
I am going to upgrade the memory to the max (2gb) and upgrade the hard drive to a 500gb drive.
I was wondering what Operating system would run comfortably on it.
I am guessing Snow Leopard would be the one to choose but I am really not to sure.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Stewyb

The maximum OS for your model 1,1 is 10.6 Snow Leopard. http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/macbook/specs/macbook_1.83.html
You can upgrade from 10.4 to 10.6 with no problems. Any program that runs under 10.4 should run under10.6.
See this list for compatibility with 10.6: http://snowleopard.wikidot.com/  You might have to upgrade some drivers for printers, etc....  I recently upgraded an older MacBook (model 1,1) straight from 10.4 to 10.6.
You can order a Snow Leopard 10.6 install disk for $29 from the Apple Store as long as you have at least 1gb of RAM and 5gb of free space on your hard drive. It might still be available from Apple. You will have to call Apple Customer Care 1-800-692-7753 or 1-800-676-2775 to purchase it. It may still be in the Legacy Products list.
If they no longer have any in stock you will have to buy it from eBay or Apple resellers that still have stock. But you will have to pay a premium since the DVDs are no longer being made. Snow Leopard DVDs are already up to $100 on Amazon.
A retail 10.5 Leopard disk will run you around $200
To upgrade your iLife and iWork. If you only want iPhoto or other single apps from iLife '11 you can get them from the App Store after you've upgraded to 10.6.6. iPhoto, iMovie or Garage Band for $15 each and Pages, Keynote or Numbers from iWork '09 for $20 each.
And you will have to install Rosetta if you have any third party Power PC applications http://www.macobserver.com/tmo/article/snow_leopard_installing_rosetta/
To see if you have any Power PC programs go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info. When System Profiler comes up select Applications under Software. Then look under Kind to see if any of your applications are listed as Power PC. Universal and Intel will run under Snow Leopard.
Before Mac switched to Intel processors they used Power PC processors from 1994 to 2005. Power PC 601 through 604, G3, G4 and G5. Applications written for the Power PC processors need the application called Rosetta to run on Intel processors. This was part of the Operating System in 10.4 and 10.5 but was an optional install in 10.6. With 10.7 Lion Apple dropped all support for Power PC applications.
