Hello all.
As the title asks.....Will my iPod 3G be compatible with the latest iTunes (11)?
The reason is I am having problems making my iPod 3G, iTouch 2G and iPhone 3GS all connect to iTunes store etc. I am having an error message of -42408 when launching my present iTunes 10.6.3.

We have 2 out of 3 of those and iTunes 11 works great on all of them.
It does take some getting use to from iTunes 10.

Okay ~ let me start by saying I am NO iPod expert, or anything even close . I have figured out I have a second generation touch that I haven't used in years. My son now wants to start listneing to music so I thought I would give him my iPod. I downloaded the latest iTunes on the lap top but it won't recognize the iPod. I have a brand new cable. The new iTunes is compatible with all model iPods.

It's not going to happen. Google announced withdrawal of their Google Toolbar.

Are you using the USB docking cable that came with that shuffle (it has a mini-dock at the shuffle end)? The docking cable for the current 4th (and 3rd) gen shuffle fits, but it will not work. The connector is different.
When you say, "does not sync with iTunes," do you mean it does appear in iTunes (in the sidebar under DEVICES) but does not sync, or that it does not appear in iTunes at all?

That comes with iOS 5 (Settings>General>About>Version) and only the 3G abd later iPods can go to iOS 5 or later

To the OP: if by 'serious limitations' you simply mean the lack of a dedicated export preset on Windows 64 bit systems to allow a direct export to a CD/DVD drive using LR3:
1. Agreed, there is no dedicated CD/DVD export preset, but there is a simple workaround. Just use the standard Hard Drive preset and in the Export Location box use Specific Folder for "Export to:", then click on "Choose" and select your CD/DVD burner from the browser window that opens. Simple.
2. I can confirm that in LR4 there is a dedicated CD/DVD export preset.

I can only listen to music in iTunes when i'm connected to the internet. Everything seems to have uploaded onto iCloud - something I didn't sign up for. Happened with the latest iTunes update. Help!

All of the music is still on my computer, but when I play it through iTunes, it either buffers first (when I'm connected to the internet) or it is greyed out (offline) and I can't listen to it.
This is beyond annoying. Is there anything I can do to sort this out?

My iphone 3 is stuck in recovery mode. It wont restore with the latest itunes what can i do aside from thowing it. please help.

I have the same problem today. I accidentally let it slip off my lap right in the middle of the restore. I didn't capture the error code when failed but now I just have a black screen with the itunes logo. It isn't displayed in Windows explorer or itunes, however I do hear my computer acknowledge something has been plugged in when I disconnect the cable and reconnect. What should I do?

As Apple said in June, iOS 7 is not compatible with the 4G iPod.
All the iOS devices compatible (iPhone 4 and later, iPad 2 and later, and 5G iPod touch) with iOS 7 have at least 512 MB of memory (RAM). The 4G iPod only has 256 MB
