Will my Ipod work?

I recently purchased an Ipod Video in the US for my cousin in China. I was wondering if it will be compatible with the computers in China, and if it is the right format.
Any help will be appreciated.

USB ports are standard on all computers, they are not region specific. You can use your iPod through a computer anywhere in the world. However if you want to connect and use an iPod on more than one computer you need to change the update preference in the iPod Summary tab to "Manually manage music and videos" and click Apply.

  • Will my iPod work on the latest iTunes version?

Some years ago (circa 2009) I've updated my iTunes to a latest version and it wouldn't let my classic iPod (it's latest software version is version 1.1.2 PC and I'm currently using Windows XP)sync - it'd tell me to restore my iPod, and when I did it would tell me there was an error and my iPod couldn't be restored. The only fix I (and lots of people) found to this matter was to downgrade my iTunes version to vs. 7.6.2.9, and my problem was solved.
However, this past week Apple decided to put a giant ad telling me to upgrade my iTunes to vs. 10, and doesn't let me see the songs I have on my library and consequently does not let me pass them to my iPod, since it's not synced with the software.
So, I'm left with two simple questions:
    1) If I upgrade my iTunes, will my 2007/8 classic iPod work or will I have the same error again? And if I'm stuck with this same problem:
    2) Is there any way I can keep using my good old iTunes version? What can I do to keep my iPod working?
Thanks in advance for the help!

Are you still back at SP2 for your XP or have you updated to SP3, Bianca?
(The symptoms you're describing are consistent with a Windows drive letter confusion. The hotfix addressing that issue on XP was rolled up into Service pack 3. So if you're up at SP3 now and you were getting a drive letter confusion back then, you shouldn't have that trouble again now.)

  • Will any Ipod work with Windows 98

Thats what I have Windows 98 SE.Will any Ipod series work with my PC.

The iPod Windows software as supplied by Apple (and iTunes) will only work on a Windows 2000 or XP system.
However there is third party software which you can use, to enable you to use your iPod with a Windows 98 PC.

    Anapod Reinitializer 1.0.0
Anapod Reinitializer is a free, lightweight utility for reformatting and reinitializing your iPod. Its function is equivalent to the Restore button in the Apple iPod Updater utility. Anapod Reinitializer runs on all versions of Windows, so it allows Windows 98/ME users (who cannot use Apple's software because it only runs on 2000/XP) to format their iPods.
    Anapod Explorer 8.7.3
Anapod Explorer is hands-down the most advanced Windows software companion for your iPod. Anapod can copy and backup iPod music and playlists to your PC and integrates your iPod into Windows Explorer as a full-fledged device under My Computer, allowing you to transfer files to your iPod as well and use a familiar Explorer interface to manage on-board music, playlists, contacts, notes, and more. Also included are a built-in database called AnapodSQL and a one-of-a-kind web-based streaming interface to your iPod called Anapod Xtreamer.

  • Will any iPod work with Mac OS 10.3.9?

I want a basic iPod for music on the move but what older ones will work on my iBook G4 running 10.3.9? I don't mind trawling eBay... I understand that the new iPods require a more up to date OS...

You can look at the iPod specification profiles here
    http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/consumer_electronics/index-ipod.html
There is an entry for +Mac Support+ on the profiles, which shows the earliest Mac OS X release that is supported by each model.

  • Will new iPod work with old library???

For 18 months, I've had my beloved iPod mini. Alas, the time has now come to trade it in for a newer model. I have only one concern left. The iPod is notorious for its restrictions on users. I've had iTunes synched to my mini for the last year and a half. If I go out and buy an iPod video, will it work with my music library? If it doesn't, how can I get it to work? Lastly, I'll probably upgrade again when they improve the iPod video. Will IT, in turn, work, after having used the older version before it!?

That's good to hear. What has me worried is that my little brother recently bought an iPod of his mate. He tried synching it with my library and it just didn't register. Now, obviously, my new iPod will never have been linked to any other machine but still. However, my brother was able to sync his iPod with a different and fresh iTunes computer in my house

  • Will 30g iPod work with New Nike product?

I recently purchased a 30 iPod video. I would like to know if the new Nike system works with it as well as just the Nano. The Nike site only lists the Nano as a requirement.
Mac Mini   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

Hello, I don't have a direct answer for you, but I can give you some advice. I'd highly recommend you NOT go jogging with your 30GB iPod (or any iPod with a hard drive). The jarring motion of the legs hitting the pavement (or what have you) can cause the hard drive to crash (the read/write head slams into the platter of the hard drive and will damage it, causing the hard drive to fail).
However, if you can catch it when the disk is not spinning,(running only when the disk stops spining, there's cache that puts 25 minutes into memory so the disk doesn't have to spin) you may be ok, but to be on the safe side, I'd go against that as well.

  • Will new iPods work with my iMac G3 DV?

    Hi,
I want to buy one of the new iPods either the big baby or the Nano, but I can't seem to get a definitive answer as to whether it will work with my Mac.
I have an iMac G3 DV 400mhz, which I believe has USB 1.
Will it work with this as some are saying it might, although Apple say no.
    Any help appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Hey!
Ken,If you're buying a new Pod,Apple system requirements are Mac OS 10.3.9 or later. So if your OS isn't that upto date then I would say no.Also USB 1.0 isn't desirable. It would work but be incredibly slow in Mounting/Updating and so-on.USB 2.0 is the connection used on 1st/2nd gen Nano and 5th Gen iPod Video.Hope this is of some use.
    Cheers,
    John

  • Will a new Ipod work with Ibook G3 600MHz (Dual USB)?

I have a Ibook G3 600MHz (Dual USB) with USB 1 and I'm considering buying a new 30GB Ipod; Apple recommends USB 2.0. Will this Ipod work with my Ibook?
    Thanks

you really need USB2 high powered ports to be able to charge your ipod correctly....
you could use USB1 to synch files but it will be painfully slow
and you could get a USB2 iPod charger to charge your ipod

  • Will Windows Vista Work

Okay here is my problem, my desk top which ran off of Windows XP crashed. It's not worth fixing either. My laptop has Vista loaded on it, will my ipod work with Vista. I have heard a while back that it won't but need some go aheads from people who have Vista and it is working fine.

i'd be very careful about that. lots of people have had problems with ipods and vista, including failed ipods and crashes. but then again as you said , it has been ok in some cases. so its all up to you on that.

  • Will a ipod nano charger work with a new ipod touch?

will a ipod nano charger work with a new ipod touch?

If you want to charge a touch gen 4 or less, then absolutly (It just might take a little longer than one specifically for the touch, because of watt dierences I think). I'm not sure about gen 5

Well, there is always the possibility that it's been jailbroke, in which case, you're out of luck.  However...
