Will my macbook run mountain lion

I am currently running a Macbook 4,1 Intel Core duo, 2.4 Ghz processor running OSX version 10.6.8.  I would like to upgrade to Mountain Lion but I heard there may be some compatability issues with the hardware.  Can anyone clarify?   Thanks.

Old Style, your model identifier (4,1) does allow you to run up to 10.7.5 with a minimum of 2GB of RAM installed.  You actually have a Core 2 Duo, not a Core Duo.  Here is a great resource for specs on older macs:  http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/macbook/specs/macbook-core-2-duo-2.4-white -13-early-2008-penryn-specs.html

  • Trouble connecting to Fios on my Macbook running Mountain Lion

I just got Fios installed in the hourse, and a PC and an Android phone have connected to it fine. But my Macbook (running Mountain Lion) won't work with it, either via Ethernet or via WiFI. When try to, the Mac's network "diagnostics" all light up. Sometimes I can get to a single website at that point, but after a few seconds the "internet" and "server" parts of the diagnostics turn to yellow or red, and I can't connect to any other websites. Wi-Fi and Ethernet behavior is the same -- the WiFi signal is strong.
I though this might be a DNS problem, so I changed the router's DNS servers to those of OpenDNS, and then also changed the DNS servers on my Macbook. I also "flushed the DNS," which didn't help. And I turned off the firewall on my Macbook -- still can't connect, except for a second at most. And I'm confused about what to try next.
The router is a MI424WR Actiontex, 3rd generation -- do you think getting a new model of router from Verizon might help? Is that the next thing I should try?

Ha, so I guess I get 10 points. The problem turned out to be the DNSCrypt program (http://opendns.github.com/dnscrypt-osx-client)/, which had occasionally acted up before with public WiFi sites. It evidently doesn't play well with the FIOS's router either. So if anyone is having problems like this, remember to turn off this and similar programs first, before you look for anything more elaborate.

  • Will my 2006 macbook run mountain lion?

    title says all

Your Mac must be one of the following models:
MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
It's the video card. Yours has non-upgradeable 32bit drivers. The model 5,1 Late 2008 and newer have at least the 256mb NVIDIA GeForce 9400M with 64bit drivers. Mountain Lion requires 64bit native drivers. Mountain Lion no longer supports Intel's GMA 950 or GMA X3100 graphics processors.

  • Can my Macbook run Mountain Lion?

    I have a Macbook 2008 with version 10.6.8
2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

Macbook aluminium late 2008 model when u update to OSX mountain lion will very slow.
u can upgrade hardware to improve.
    1st is Ram =4GB x 2 = 8GB 1333 or 1066ram also can use.
2nd SSD intel (reliability) we not only want speed only.
Ram can upgrade to 4GB(apple), 6GB (max) is actual test.
If u update to OS X mountain lion then Ram can upgrade to 8GB (max) actual test.
original is use 1066 Ram,but this actual test can support 1333 Ram..
so u can choose Corsair Mac Memory or Kingston Mac Memory.
for macbook late 2008 unibody with mountain lion user. after upgrade Ram and SSD will become
    new macbook pro.
    my opinion,
this is my personal actual test...my macbook now mountain lion with Corsair 8GB 1333 + 500GB harddrive for Data + intel 120GB SSD for system (optical drive remove)

  • Removing virus from macbook running mountain lion

    hi!
i suspect my MBPr is infected with malware. how can i get rid of this?
pls give me a detailed guide of cleaning the machine.

First, back up all data immediately, as your boot drive might be failing.
There are a few other possible causes of generalized slow performance that you can rule out easily.
    Reset the System Management Controller.
If you have many image or video files on the Desktop with preview icons, move them to another folder.
If applicable, uncheck all boxes in the iCloud preference pane.
Disconnect all non-essential wired peripherals and remove aftermarket expansion cards, if any.
Check your keychains in Keychain Access for excessively duplicated items.
Boot into Recovery mode, launch Disk Utility, and run Repair Disk.
Otherwise, take the steps below when you notice the problem.
    Step 1
Launch the Activity Monitor application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Activity Monitor in the icon grid.
Select the CPU tab of the Activity Monitor window.
Select All Processes from the menu in the toolbar, if not already selected.
Click the heading of the % CPU column in the process table to sort the entries by CPU usage. You may have to click it twice to get the highest value at the top. What is it, and what is the process? Also post the values for % User, % System, and % Idle at the bottom of the window.
Select the System Memory tab. What values are shown in the bottom part of the window for Page outs and Swap used?
Next, select the Disk Activity tab. Post the approximate values shown for Reads in/sec and Writes out/sec (not Reads in and Writes out.)
    Step 2
If you have more than one user account, you must be logged in as an administrator to carry out this step.
Launch the Console application in the same way you launched Activity Monitor. Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Select the 50 or so most recent entries in the log. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V). You're looking for entries at the end of the log, not at the beginning.
When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some personal information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting. That should be easy to do if your extract is not too long.

  • Macbook will not load up Mountain Lion

Got a problem with a MacBook running Mountain Lion. I administer the computer for my daughter. The screen with the Apple logo appears, and the little winding icon also appears at the bottom. But it now winds forever. I have tried to boot in safe mode, using the shift key, without any success. That keeps on showing, with no change, even after leaving it for an hour. That is why I have started this thread. Has anyone got any further tiops, before I have to take it to an Apple Store ?

  • Old Mac running Mountain Lion 'sees' Canon IP5000, new MacBook pro will not. No driver available from canon. Is there a way of transfering whatever is working from old mac to new?

I have two older macs running Mountain Lion that have been upgraded over the years from Leopard. They have continued to be able to print to a Canon IP5000 and use a driver that is fully functional. On the new MacBook Pro, the printer is found, but no driver is available for Mountain Lion from apple or Canon. Is there a way of getting the driver info from the old mac so that it will work on the new one?

Sorry, it says "New Event," not "New Entry." My bad.

  • Will my Macbook 5,4 june 2009 run mountain lion

When in my system profile under software i have been reading that if the 64-bit kernal and extensions says "no" mountain lion won't run even though my macbook is from 2009 with the newist version of snow leopard. Just trying to see if any out there can help me.

Yes, it will. MacBookPro3,1 and MacBook5,1 or better will run Mountain Lion.

  • How do I tell if my mac book air will run mountain lion?

I've seen it asked a lot of times.  I've seen the same answer every time, which is "so long as it's a late 2008 model"
My macbook air is silver... it says "macbook air" on it... I bought it once upon a time... it is running leopard... it does not appear to have a date stamp...
Do macbook air once-upon-a-time models run mountain lion?  Or is there, possibly, some clue somewhere in the system data and about boxes that I might check?  You know, like processor speed or graphics or memory?  What does "late" 2008 mean anyway?  how late?  If I bought it in August it won't work but if I bought it in September from a shop that had been stocking it since June it will?  Come on...
I don't even want to upgrade, I just find I pretty much have to now or I can't access anything (like the app store).  I'm feeling obliged to pay to keep my machine working without being able to work out in advance if I even can - this has put me in a fairly negative frame of mind, and is why you are going to have to live with a fairly grumpy help request!
Anyone know what the real criteria are?

Apple uses descriptors like "Late 2008" to indicate when models change. It has nothing to do with the time of year a system might be sold. The late 2008 MBA specs are here.
Type in your systems serial number here, and it will tell you what you have. You can find your serial number by clicking on the apple to the left side of the menu bar. Underneath the MAC OS X where it says what level of operating system you have, click on that until you see the serial number.

    HI,
If iChat is Open and your think Accounts/Screen Names are logged in then go to the Window Menu
This should list the accounts that are logged in with various keystrokes ( Apple/CMD ( or ⌘) and a Number) shown next to them.
Using these should get the Buddy list "back".
It is possible to Hide the Buddy list and then Quit iChat.
iChat will then "remember" where the windows were eve if this was Hidden.
Can you confirm that after reinstalling or restoring from Time Machine with possibly an Earlier Version you have Downloaded the COMBO version of OS X 10.6.8 and "run the COMBO" (Installed it - again) to update iChat ?
It is possible the text chat Window is also Hidden on double clicking a Buddy.
The easiest way for this to happen is to use a second Display and drag some windows to the second Display.
iChat "remembers" where you last had Outgoing Chats so Audio and Video windows will be where you left them as will Text Chats.
Incoming Chat Invites are normally in set places unless there is a chat already open to that Buddy.
With  Windowing issue like this is sometimes pays to delete com.apple.ichat.plist itself  (on it's own) and restart iChat  (this plist holds the window positions amongst other things)

Advance warning - Mail worked fine.
I had fits with the last link I posted. At first it worked fine, then all of a sudden, it quit working. I now have iCloud - iCal syncing, but iCal is read only. Not a real big deal since you can log onto iCloud using Safari and post a new event.
I finally gave up on Address Book because it kept creating multiple contacts, which if you tried to merge or delete the multiple contacts, the contacts were deleted. It also worked at first and then stopped working as it should.

  • My new macbook pro (Mountain Lion) will not log into my 1and1 server to connect to my e mail. My snow leopard macbook does not have this problem - Apple support say it is a 1and1 problem! do I have to wait for an update of Mountain Lion?

My new macbook pro (Mountain Lion 10.8.1) will not log into my 1and1 outgoing mail server. ( It will receive mail - but does not send)My old Snow Leopard macbook does not have the same problem ( server settings etc. are identical) . Apple Support say its a 1and1 problem , 1and1 say it is an operating System prob - I have tried changing port numbers.

My eyes just glazed over...Please in the future break down each of your issues with paragraphs separated by two carriage returns. It would be much easier when trying to address your issues.
Go to Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Keyboard and Mouse -> Mouse
And edit your mouse settings to do what you want it to do.
Secondly, this is not the place to vent. If you have a complaint, there is:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/
    or http://www.apple.com/contact/
We are just end users here helping other end users.
Third, from my understanding, it would appear you are concerned about the noise the hard drive makes when it falls asleep? Why not put your machine in screen saver mode instead? Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Energy Saver turn off all Energy Saver settings, or set them to run Never.
Fourth, if your machine was purchased just a few days ago, you may still be able to get an exchange from the store, quicker than you can get a repair done. You may want to look into that possibility.
Fifth, it does appear you found the Logic forum. I would persist in asking there how to solve your technical issue with Logic regarding the audio. It may be you don't have to do anything special to the hard drive. Remember audio can be transmitted by wire, avoiding ambient sounds.
    Good luck!
