Will my MacBookPro3,1 Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.4 GHz with 4GB Ram run Mountain Lion?
Hi everyone. I have a MacBookPro3,1 Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.4 GHz with 4GB Ram — will it run Mountain Lion? My hard drive has 615 Gigs of free space. If so, is it worth it for me to upgrade? Will all the new features be available to me. Presently I am running Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4 (11E53). I heard that there is an update 8.1 out there with developers as of yesterday.
Thanks.
Hi John.
Yes, an erase and install sounds like a good idea. I just need to check my Adobe CS5 software to see if I need to upgrade the suite. If that is the case, then I may need to put it off for a bit. Thanks so much for your help.
I have a newer MacBook Pro at work, but usually wait to upgrade it, till I've been running it at home on my personal computer for a while. Would hate for it to mess up my production schedule.
Thanks again and have a good evening.

mid-late 2007? can you be a bit more specific, will Mavericks work on Intel Core 2 Duo 2.66 GHz 4GB ?
Welcome to Apple Support Communities
It looks like you can upgrade to OS X Mavericks (you have got an Early 2009 iMac). Follow these steps to upgrade > http://www.apple.com/osx/how-to-upgrade
Before upgrading, make a backup of your files with Time Machine and check that your apps are compatible > http://www.roaringapps.com -
Is the os x Mavericks can be installed for my macbook pro (intel core 2 duo, 2.66 GHz, 4 GB ram?) ?

I dont know if a 2.4 GHZ Core 2 duo with 2GB of RAM and a mid 2010 model of my Macbook will run smoothly with Mac OS X Lion. Can anybody help make my decision either i should upgrade from snow leopard to lion?
My advice... DO NOT BUY.... otherwise you will be like me... frustrated and horrified.... I am suffering .... and im the last person to be on such discussion forum... but now I am here... you may be able to guage my furstration. Snow Leapord is zillion times better than Lion... they should call it pu**y instead of lion.

what should i buy in order to upgrade the memory, and whats the limit of RAMs that i can have on this laptop?
please be certain of the answer coz where i work i dont have a store, i need to buy online and shipp .
thank you in advance.I missed that! I blame it on not having had my coffee this morning!
To rams2211,
Crucial certainly makes great RAM - it's what I use in my machine - and you should visit their website. Just to let you know, though, Crucial ships all over the world and have both UK and EU sites, if that helps.
Your specific model can hold up to 16GB of 204-pin PC3-8500 (1066 MHz) DDR3 SO-DIMMs, even though the 'official' Apple spec is for 8 GB. Something to do with a long-ago firmware update.
You may also want to visit OWC - their prices are high but they make excellent RAM as well.
Good luck,

I have a macbook pro 2.4 ghz intel core 2 duo 2010 13" aluminum with 8gb of memory and a 250gb hard drive running version 10.6.8 with safari 5.1.4. Safari will open up intermittently on its own. System preferences and the dock isn't set up to start safari. Can't figure out why this is happening. Had reloaded system from scratch and noticed this happening lately.
Remove iAntiVirus, then reboot, see if it's better.

Will Lion 10.7.x run on a 63-month old MacBook Pro 17", MacBook Pro 2,1 (2GB RAM) with Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.33 GHz ?
Currently running Leopard 10.5.8 and about to update to Snow Leopard. It will run, if that's what you want. I'd think twice though. If you want to try Lion, upgrade your RAM to the max: 4GB's(Apple says 3, but your machine will run 4), however only a little over 3GB's will be able to be addressed(limitation of your computer). IMO, Lion needs a minimum of 4GB's of RAM to function properly. In your case, you'd be a little shy. I'd suggest you go to SL & stay there.

have a MacBook Pro2,2 with an Intel Core 2 Duo , 2.33 GHz processor speed and am running OS X 10.4.11 and am having trouble finding which operating system update my computer will support. Any advice?
Mac OS X 10.7.5, which requires getting a Mac OS X 10.6 DVD from the online Apple Store and a download code for 10.7 by phoning them.

Will iMac 2006 Intel Core 2 Duo, 5,1 - work with Mountain Lion?
That's all... will the iMac 2006 Intel Core 2 Duo, 5,1 model, run Mountain Lion?
No, you need a Mid 2007 iMac 7,1 or newer to run Mountain Lion.

Airplay audio only iMac Intel Core 2 Duo 3.06 GHz
I have been researching this question.....
I have a iMac Intel Core 2 Duo 3.06 GHz running OS 10.6. I have not yet purchased an Apple TV but want to know if it is worth it.
I am not going to try to do any video via the iMac and the Apple TV - yes I realize I have hardware limitations.
I only want to stream audio from iTunes. I figure I can try AirParrot and stay with OS 10.6 while adding the AppleTV.
Or upgrade to OS 10.8 (and hope my other software works). Then, if I understand correctly, AirPlay audio will work on my ancient Mac. Correct?
I guess I could do this via AirPort Express, but if I am going to spend $100, I might as well get the benefits of AppleTV.
Anyone have any other suggestions?airparrot is an alt to airplay mirror
airplay mirror is cloning what you see and hear on the mac to the tv over the appletv
airplay audio is using airport express and appletv as remote speakers one can use multiple at the same time
I have an appletv 1g the old alu one and an airport express so under my airplay icon right of the volume bar in the top of itunes 11.1.1 I have the options
computer
appletv
airport express
if you don't have the icon looks like this
http://cdn.cultofmac.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/itunes11airplaymultiplecontr ol1.jpg
then maybe your itunes is too old
or the appletv is not present on the same subnetwork as the computer some routers keep 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz and ethernet on seperate networks and one have to bridge them
sometimes if my appletv don't want to show up on the list I can get it to by on the appletv starting a song and then stopping it again
my imac is 21.5" mid2011
and it also works fine with wifes macbook pro 13" from 2009 or something along those lines -

iMac 24" iMac (iMac7,1), Intel Core 2 Duo 2,8 GHz Ram 4 MB running OS 10.6.8: impossible upgrade to Mac OSX Mavericks. Already created second account, according to apple online support, but still doesn't work. Thanks for help.
Your Mac is definitely one of the supported models? http://www.apple.com/uk/osx/specs/
If so, what happens when you try to download? Is it a case of nothing happens? If so, take a look at the suggestions under 'Stalled Download' in this link:
http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2013/10/mavericks-issues-and-fixes/#slideid-23477 1
Also, some usrs have found that logging out of the Mac App Store and then back in again and starting over has kick-started the download. It seems that the 5+gb download can take a long time to give any feedback as to what's happening. -
I recently purchased a refurbed iMac with a 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo. It came with iMovie ver. 9.0.5 installed. I do allot with iMovie and iDVD and would like to get a camcorder to add movie clips. Does anyone have any suggestions for a reasonably price camcorder that would work with my setup?

I hav an iMac Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz 10.6.8 - I want to use th cloud - is this upgradable to Mountain Lion?

I am using os x 10.4.11 on a 2.4 ghz intel core 2 duo. I don't believe I can install lion on this system but was wondering what is the highest version I can use?
Here are the requirements for Lion:
http://osxdaily.com/2011/06/07/mac-os-x-10-7-lion-system-requirements/
In order to install Lion you have to have Snow Leopard and then update to 10.6.8:
http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
Personally I suggest that you stop at Snow Leopard. It still is the most efficient OS that Apple has devised and it still works great. Go to the Lions only if there are feature that you really need. There may be a price to pay in slower performance though.
Ciao.
