Will my premier 6.0 work wt Windows 2000 sp4?

I'm using lotsa old stuff. Yeah i know i'm a cheap looser...whatever.
I had been using Windows 2000 sp2 wt premier 6.0 for several years wt a Pinnacle video capture card and an EVGA video display card. Then everything stopped working and some techie made me do a complete recovery and everything but it turned out it was just my EVGA card that died.
So now I got a new low level EVGA card and everythings semi-ok except now premier 6.0 and windows media player won't work (freezes up). The only way I can solve this is to move my hardware acceleration slider  down by one notch (the setting wheres its like, "use this notch you you got mouse pointer problems etc). So it solves my premier 6.0 & WMP problems but now I'm not getting full hardware acceleration on a brand new graphics card. EVGA tells me i need to upgrade my windows 2000 from service pack 2 to service pack 4. Sooooo, my question is:
If I upgrade my windows 2000 from sp2 to sp4 will this cause any problem in the functionality of my Premier 6.0?
PS: i'm using FAT32 file system.
Thank you thank you thank you in advance,
[email protected]

I would guess that SP4 won't be any problem, however it will very likely not address your need to turn Hardware Acceleration down. That is very likely an issue with your newer card and your older software. It's common to have to do this, even with newer hardware and software. It's often a driver issue, so you might have luck getting the latest driver for your card - start at the mfgr's Web site.
Another guess is that because both Pr6 and your version of WMP used DirectShow you have that issue. With about PrPro1 (I think), Adobe moved from using DirectShow to their own display engine. Not sure when WMP changed. It could be that SP4 will have an updated DirectShow, but I doubt that it'll make much difference - regardless stil get the latest video driver for your card.
Now I could be confusing NT4 and Win2K, but was SP4 the last Service Pack? For some reason, I thought that I had SP5. Iike I said, I am probably confusing NT4 with Win2K.
I would also update my Audio card/chips driver, while I was at it. SP's and updates can render Audio and Video drivers obsolete in a heartbeat.
Though you have a Restore Point (you used it when the vid-card died), I'd do another, just before you go to SP4. If all works fine, I'd do another, before updating the Audio and Video drivers - never hurts to play safe.
Last comment: do not recall with which version of Windows the Convert utility was introduced - may have been XP. I'd look into using Convert, if possible, to change from FAT-32 to NTSF. Unlike re-formatting, Convert will do the conversion and leave your data untouched. Check that out. It's used from a CMD line prompt string, so check the help files for the exact syntax of your version, if you have it. Just typing "convert/?" from a CMD prompt should bring it up - note the quotation marks are just to show what the string would be - do not use the quotation marks.
Good luck, and please report how it goes. Sometimes with older versions of programs, it's hard to find info. However, I had to research Pr6.5 and was amazed at all of the info I could locate. There are still a lot of reviews on the Internet. Unfortunately for me, I really was looking how Pr6.5 files worked in PrPro2.0 and no one had ever tested that. By reading between the lines on some Adobe white papers, I got a fair idea, but had to try it to know. BTW - they work fine and these were Mac Pr6.5 to PC PrPro2.0. Perfect on Import, after I assigned the proper file extension to the Mac Project files.

  • Why will a stand alone executalbe with an installer work on windows 2000 and crashes on windows xp professional?

When I run the setup.exe file on a Windows 2000 system it installs properly, but the same file run on a XP Professional system I get an error stating Fatal Error: Installation ended prematurely because of an error.
See here for more information on the specific installer I'm trying to use.
In fact I get this error for any stand alone executable I try to install on any XP machines. I am using LV 7.1. Is there a way to manually install eve

    Thanks

Sure you can Install a lv application manually. just copy the exe-file,
support files in a folder. For the runtimeengine just copy the file
lvrte.dll in the folder of your application or in the windows system folder.
    Hope that helps, Niko

  • Windows 8 FAQ: Will my HP Touch applications work on Windows 8?

    Question:
Will my HP Touch applications work on Windows 8?
    Answer:
Touch functionality will be determined on a case by case basis through the MS compatibility check during windows 8 upgrade and in the HP step by step upgrade document accessible through the HP Windows Upgrade site.
For Touchsmart PCs, during upgrade the MS compatibility checker will alert the user on which software components must be uninstalled or updated prior to continuing the Windows 8 upgrade.  For Touchsmart PCs that require the removal of the Touchsmart interface or HP Magic Canvas, that application and all applications that require that environment installation will have to be removed for continued upgrade and correct functionality.

Just an FYI, the AC97 Audio on your MSI mainboard will not work under Windows 2000, for which the AC97 hardware is not certified. If you try to use it, your audio output will be intermittant at best and will crash your audio applications at worst. A maddening and disheartening problem for people like me who didn't realize the problem existed and spent many hours trying to getting it to go away.

  • Labview 2009 .exe not working with windows 2000

I created a simple vi with Labview 2009 to reset a counter in registry key. I changed it to an exe. The program runs fine on any machine with XP but it does not work on the machine I need it on which is running Windows 2000 SP4. I installed the 2009 runtime but I continue to get an error when it starts up saying the vi is not executable and that I need the full development to fix the errors. But like I said it works every where else. I've tried other exe wrote in LV2009 on this machine and they work. Is there something in my vi that is not compatible with Windows 2000?

  • Working with Windows 2000 ?

Hello, I'm new to Java but been programming 15 years, hell knows why I waited till now to use Java but it is great !
I want to write some applications that control and work with Windows 2000. I realise they would not be platform independent but is this sort of thing possible ?
or .... just as an example what if I wanted to control some feature of the linux os ?
    thanks
    C

It is possible. All you need to know is how to use JNI. I think there are only two books out there about JNI, I would recommend the one from Sun.
You can download it here: http://java.sun.com/docs/books/jni/index.html

  • AT-AO-10 doesn´t work with Windows 2000

I have an AT-AO-10 board that doesn’t work with Windows 2000. I have reserved two IRQs for legacy devices (non plug and play) in BIOS. The AT-AO-10 has got assigned these IRQs, a DMA and a base address that are free, and there aren’t any hardware conflicts, but the board doesn't pass the MAX's text.
In Windows 'Information System', the board is shown in 'Forced hardware', but I don’t know that is a problem.
If the board is unplugged, error messages are the same.

    Hello;
You didn't mention what version of the NI-DAQ driver you are using over there. Anyway, my suggestion to you is to uninstall the NI-DAQ driver you have installed, remove the board, reboot the machine, download and install the latest NI-DAQ version (6.9.3) from NI web site.
Try the installation with the new driver, and if that is still not working, the best bet is to try the same installation on a different machine to double check if the hardware is not defective.

  • 10g (10.2.01) setup/java.exe hangs on Windows 2000 SP4.

    Hi all,
I'm currently having an issue with a 10g install on Windows 2000 (SP4) hosted on a Windows Virtual Machine.
I remote to this machine using PCAnywhere.
When I run setup.exe it just hangs on the java.exe process.
I have run the setup with a -debug option and am not seeing anything out of the ordinary.
I have also checked the the log and it does not seem to contain any errors.
I have run through the 10g pre installation requirements and don't believe that is a problem as the
machine and OS meets all the criteria.
I have researched a similar setup.exe/java.exe hanging issues and have tried some of those solutions to no avail.

As Daniel stated on his previous post, this is not supported from the official oracle point of view, so if you are implementing this for production environments, even if it worked, you would be on your own. However, this should work. Check if you have any other java environment on the scope of the PATH environment variable. A virtual machine is from the OS configuration point of view the same as a physical machine, if the PATHs are scrambled and if you are accessing different versions of JRE at install time, this won't work, and the first symptom is a frozen java session.

  • How to configure Failed RID master in Windows 2000 SP4 DC?

We are still using windows 2000 SP4 server due to application compatiblity of our core application, this error has occur during a fire here in our office then the physical server itself, migrated to our DR site, then after that event the physical server
itself join again to its original place where as, in H.O branch.
    First Problem:
Now our branch office site users always fails to log to their workstation, we still need to reset their password again and again after the day ends , and it will come back again tomorrow.
    Second Problem:
When we are adding a user account it always say's "Windows cannot create the object because the Directory Service was unable to allocate a relative identifier" it predict that the RID master has been corrupted because of the migration
    from site to site,
Can I still have answers here even though this is way way to obsolete from microsoft, I need help please :)

Hi thanks for your kind reply,
No, there are 4 DC in our environment but the forest root DC has the problem, I only create user accounts, I still not creating other object in active directory.and also the replication between root DC and other DC has problems. but I think its in the DNS
part, just need step by step process. :)
I'll give it a try on what you suggest but is this tried and tested? because when you replicate from corrupted FSMO roles DC, the new DC will also infected with errors,
By the way I already tried ntdsutil to fix the AD database and all are passed.

  • BOXI R2 SP4 on Windows 2000 SP4 and Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 2

    Hi
I have a customer that has BOXI R2 SP4 installed on Windows 2000 SP4.  He is aware that Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1 is not supported for BOXI R2 SP4 but he is not able to find I.E SP2 for Windows 2000 SP4.  What can he do as he is experiencing some inconsistencies in Webintelligence?
    I have suggested already to:
downgrade BOXI R2 to SP3 and use the line 3 of code as this supports I.E. SP1
upgrade the O/S to XP and use BOXI R2 SP4 and I.E. SP2
    Thank you in advance.
    Regards,
    Federica

I don't see any reason to downgrade BOXi R2 to SP3.
While Microsoft will continue to support Windows 2000 till 2010, BO advises recommends that customers be on the latest SP. In your customer's case, this will not be possible. Also tech support will require one to be on the latest SP before they will troubleshoot any issues. ADAPT resolution also requires on to be on the latest SP.
I think it prudent to upgrade the OS (on the clients) to XP.
