Will my website adjust to different resolutions?

Hello all,
I am new to Flash web design, so bear with me :)
I started to design a web site which stage size is 1152 px x
720 px.
If the users' browsers are set to a resolution that is
smaller than my web site, will all the swf resize itself to appear
entirely in the browser of the user?
And if the users' browsers are set to a resolution that is
BIGGER than my web site, will the swf stretch to adapt to this
resolution?
Thanks :)
Gz

Hey Gz;
I am fairly new to flash as well. But I have noticed that
when you setup your stage you setup a specific size. That size will
be the same for all users. People with lower rez monitors might
have to scroll to see your whole stage while others with higher rez
it will appear smaller on their monitors. However, there might be a
way to make it so the stage is dynamic, but I don't think it
normally is out of the box.
Hope that helps.
Cheers

  • HP 6730b can I swap screens with different resolutions?

    Hi,
Is it possible to swap screens with different resolutions on a HP 6730b?
Mine is 1680x1050 pixels and I want to find a 1280x800 screen to replace it.
(letters are far too small for an old fart like me. ;-)
The resolution list does support 1280x800 but it looks like viewing the screen through dirty glasses.
Just wondering if the interface is the same.
    Cheers,
    Bas

Usually people want to go in the other direction. Here is the Service Manual:
    Manual link
    The parts list shows a panel that is SXGA+ (1400 x 1050) and a WXGA (1280 x 768 or 800) panel.
There are multiple motherboards, but the only difference appaears to be whether there is a slot for a cellular card or not. In other words if you install the WXGA panel the motherboard should work with it and you will get 1280 x 800 resolution looking good. Laptop displays and other digital panels only work at their maximum aka native resolution and you get that muddy look if you try to run them at a lower res. You want to buy the whole panel with the cable designed for the WXGA....sometimes the cables will not work with a different resolution screen. Post back if you need further help finding a screen. You may find it cheaper and easier to sell or trade your laptop for one with the lower resolution screen.

  • Different Resolutions

I have been struggling to find a way to display jpeg images
over a .swf video. I finally found a code written by another person
and I modified the code to fit what I was trying to do. The images
display over the .swf file the way I want them to. The problem is I
can't find a way to put the .swf and the jpegs into a table. When I
try to arrange them in a table, the .swf ends up back on top. Is
there a way for me to just adjust my website to for different types
of browser resolutions. It is a lot easier to understand if you
just look at the website. I have it adjusted for Internet Explorer
and a 1024 x 768 resolution. No other browsers or resolutions will
work properly. When you open the page, you can scroll over the
    thumnails without clicking them.

    Hi,
I had a similar problem with one of my applications in full screen mode, the best solution is to base all your sizes on the resolution - you have two variables screenX and screenY and you SIZE YOUR COMPONENTS as FACTORS of each - say button.setSize(screenX/10, screenY/10) or something like that( okay its manually sizing componsnts, but it works.)
    Hope it works for you,

  • Auto adjust to screen resolution

I'm pretty new to Flash and am working on a background for my website (not online yet). i was wondering how others have designed applications, such as photo galleries, that automatically adjust to the resolution of the screen on which it's being viewed, as opposed to adding or removing scroll bars to view just a standard, presized bg image, as in HTML.
I assume this is a certain line of ActionScript, but like I said, I'm pretty new and am basically just guessing.
    Thanks for your help.

Using 100% width and 100% height in the HTML Publish settings will get you started. You may want to review Flash "Scaling" and "aspect ratio" here:
Here are examples of different scaling parameters available in the Publish settings. You can also add these parameters directly in the html (<param name="scale" value="noscale"). All the examples replace the actual Flash dimensions with 100% for both width and height (width="100%" height="100%"). These examples use the old <object> and <embed> to illustrate the different ways to scale Flash. Once you understand how it works I’d recommend that you use swfobject to place the Flash in your final project.
View the source code for each page to see the full code.
    http://www.cidigitalmedia.com/tutorials/scale/exact_fit.html
"exactFit" scales the file to fit exactly within the confines of the screen, irregardless if the movie becomes consequently distorted. The original aspect ratio is not maintained. So round things are not round and squares are not square.
    http://www.cidigitalmedia.com/tutorials/scale/noScale.html
"noScale" is the default setting, and causes the movie to be displayed at the originally designed dimensions.
    http://www.cidigitalmedia.com/tutorials/scale/no_border.html
"noBorder" causes the movie to be scaled to what ever dimensions are needed to have no border surrounding the movie within the player, which consequently could result in some of the movie being cut off from view. In other words, the movie will maintain the original aspect ratio and will fill the screen completely. But if the movie has to be streched wider to fill both sides of the screen, it will also stretch taller, but then some of the top and the bottom of the movie may be cut off from view.
    http://www.cidigitalmedia.com/tutorials/scale/show_all.html
"showAll" scales the movie to the size of the screen (which could cause pixelation if the file contains raster information), the difference between showAll and exactFit is that showAll mantains initial movie size proportions. Because it maintains the original aspect ratio, there can be space to the sides or the top and bottom. But everything always shows and they are not distorted. But notice the photo in the center, it becomes pixilated at larger screen resolutions.
The trickiest part of trying to go full screen is that it’s difficult to make the Flash wider without making it taller also, that is, to maintain the correct proportions or aspect ratio of everything on the stage. These methods are just simple scaling accomplished with html. There are also methods to dynamically scale the stage and it’s elements using Actionscript… but that’s a much more complex undertaking.

  • Workflow for Sharpening Output of Different Resolutions

I'm looking for a good workflow for sharpening images that are to be output in various resolutions.
My current workflow works, but is a bit cumbersome.
Most of my images are 8-12MP, and I need 2 variations of file sizes:
    1) Constrained to 1800x1800 (Slideshow use)
    2) Constrained to 680x480 (Web gallery use)
I currently export a copy of all the images I need as JPEG-Original Size. Then I have two Automator actions that use Photoshop to Fit the image into my dimensions using the interpolation of my choice, and applying two levels of Unsharp Masking.
This gives me a very good quality output, but with quite a bit of work.
I've thought about using Edge Sharpen or Sharpen in Aperture, however it would be difficult (and probably just as a pain) to set the sharpen each time I output a different resolution.
Does anybody know of a good workflow to output images from Aperture directly and have them sharpened for various intended outputs? (e.g. screen, web, print)
I haven't done extensive printing in Aperture, but I'm assuming the same would apply to prints of various sizes of prints too.

But is there any simple way aside from clicking on each version with the cloning stamp to apply the sharpening preset?
    1. Select one image and apply the sharpening preset.
    2. Deselect that image and select all of the other images you want to apply the sharpening adjustment to.
    3. Click on the Lift Icon in the toolbar, then click on the image (with the Lift Up Arrow) you applied the sharpening to in Step 1.
    4. Go to the Lift & Stamp HUD and uncheck all of the check boxes except Adjustments.
    5. Also, in the Lift & Stamp HUD, click on the disclosure triangle next to Adjustments to see what adjustments you lifted from the image.
    6. If you see other Adjustments besides your sharpening adjustment that you do not want to apply to your other images. click on the unwanted adjustment(s) and press the delete key. This will delete the unwanted adjustments and you will be left only with your sharpening adjustment.
    7. Now click on the button on the lower right of the Lift & Stamp HUD that says "Stamp Selected Images."
This sounds like a lot of steps, but it is really quite simple once you've done it a few times.

  • Save several movies in different resolution in one go

    Hi everyone
With Quicktime 7 there is an option to export an existing movie and save it with a different resolution such as 1280x840 to 640x480 Pixels etc.! Is there a possibility to make these changes to several files without repeating them for each and every movie (over 100 files)? Maybe with the help of AppleScript?
    Thanks for your help.

Compress QuickTime Using Most Recent Settings (from Automator).
The action only works on files (not folders of files). It would use the most recent QuickTime Player Pro export settings.
Export a "dummy" file (say 30 seconds) from QuickTime Player Pro to your destination dimensions, codec and settings. The Automator action will "remember" those settings and use them in its action.
Once done with those settings export the dummy file again using different settings and Automator will adjust to the new settings (if saved as a Workflow or Application).

  • Can I print photos at different resolutions in one PS5 file?

I am printing photos on fabric. I'd like compare one printed at 300dpi and the same photo at 150 dpi. I was going to set them  side by side on a piece of fabric and realized I had to specify the resolution of the file I'm placing them in. Can I have two files at different resolution in one file? If the new file is of 300dpi resolution how does this affect the image at 150dpi? Thanks!
    Mary

    Hello again,
thanks so much for helping a newbie sort things out. I'm still confused. I  know that a higher resolution like 300dpi, has more dots per inch and has the potential to give me more detail in print than a lower dpi.
If I crop a raw file as an 18" square-  I will make it either 150 or 300 dpi.  I'm trying to place two images ( the same images) side by side in a photoshop file to compare the results when they print- (I'm printing with an online vendor). Can I do that? that is, place a 150 dpi image next to a 300 dpi image in one PS file, identified ast  300dpi ? What are the print results? Will both images look the same, or will the 150 dpi be converted to 300 and I won't see any difference anyway?
Or, do I need to set up two separate files-one at 150 and one at 300, and print them separately, to compare them?
Can you help me understand this? Thanks!

  • Why are my HD videos all importing with different resolutions?

Hi, I tried looking through like 10 pages of discussions on here and didn't see anybody else having this problem.
I have a Canon Vixia HF200, I keep the settings on MXP (highest quality 1920 x 1080). Every time I log and transfer my videos they import at different resolutions (everything from the same day will be the same), some of them come in as 1440 x 1080, 720 x 480, etc, when they should all be 1920 x 1080.
So, since some of them ended up being a completely different aspect ratio, I went into Motion>Distort and changed them all to 1920 x 1080, and I thought it was fine, but now I'm noticing that some of the videos look really out of focus (it seems like they get more out of focus every time I open it), so I'm thinking I probably shouldn't have stretched them....
I checked the original videos in the browser and they all say 1920 x 1080 now, when I watch them in the viewer, they actually look like good HD videos, but in the canvas they're out of focus...
I'm also working with multiple sequences, and when I copy videos from one sequence to another, it changes the resolution/aspect ratio/scale again, and becomes more blurry when I try to fix it.
So basically, I have a huge mess. I'm working on editing a documentary that I'm making and now most of the video looks bad and I'm not sure how to change it back. I even tried starting a new project and importing the original videos, but they don't seem to have the original quality.
Anybody know how I can either fix this or somehow replace the clips in the sequence with the originals in the browser to at least get some quality back?
Also, a lot of the time when I render, I come back to the computer and it says something like "Error: Illegal (something) render failed" and completely loses the rendering that it spent a long time doing.
    I appreciate any help.
    Lisa

    Hi Lisa,
Your 1920x1080 clips most likely import at their normal frame size, and then you placed them in the wrong sequence. Make sure your +File > Easy Setup+ is set to *Apple Intermediate Codec 1920x1080i60* before you create a new sequence.

  • Cine 30" raedon x800xt and an addidtional (different resolution) monitor

I have a G5 with a 30 inch cine display and a radeon x800xt video card. I would like to get an additional 19 inch monitor to use as a tool pallate. I am not schooled on video cards, but can I add a second monitor of a lower resolution.....(again i am only using to park tool pallates)....and have the video card recognize two different resolution settings.

The X800 can handle two monitors, with independent settings for resolution. The DVI port can handle a display up to 30" (2560 x 1600). The other port (ADC) can handle up to 23" (1920 x 1200).
If the second display is not ADC, you will need an adapter, either ADC to DVI, or ADC to VGA. (ADC to DVI, followed by DVI to VGA, won't work, because most ADC to DVI adapters don't pass the analog video signals needed for VGA.)

  • Is it possible to publish a project with a different resolution than the native project resolution?

I think I know what the answer is going to be here, but I'm going to ask anyway. The background here is that I've made a few demo videos for new products and features my company is working on. I'm using CP4 for this. Our marketing department wants to take AVIs of my demos and insert them into their Powerpoint demonstrations. However, the native resolution of our demos doesn't make for a graceful import into Powerpoint. Thus, I've been directed to provide smaller res AVI files.
Thus, I am wondering if you can publish a project at a different resolution than the one in which it was recorded. My initial poking around seems to indicate that the answer is "no," and if this is truly the case, I will be rumbling over to the "Suggest a Feature" forum soon. There does seem to be a kind-of-workaround in that you can change the resolution of the project before publishing it, but this is something that cannot be undone, meaning that in order to do this, I will have to save new, smaller versions of all my projects. This is a bit ungainly.
So, if anyone knows a good trick here, I would love to hear it!

Unfortunately, I don't know what you mean when you say "manual panning." And I'm really not sure what you mean when you say the fields are not fully visible in the original image; they are completely visible. Here's a close-up from the original slide:
As you can see, the fields are completely visible.
Also, the slide is not entirely static. For the slide I chose as an example, the Password is filled in before the mouse moves. This typing may be part of what is getting Captivate confused; note this sequence from the resized version of the project:
    Slide 35:
The login window first appears. Everything is normal. During this slide, the mouse moves and clicks inside the User ID field, leading to...
    Slide 36:
At this point, things begin to go awry. The user name is entered, and the cursor moves to the Password field.
    Slide 37:
Whoops! As soon as we click Login, everything goes back to normal.
    Slide 38:
I will try a few of the suggestions you offered, and will report back with the results.

  • I am unable to bookmark the same website in two different bookmark folders without one being automatically deleted by Firefox?

I am a recent convert to Firefox. Regarding bookmarks: it seems that you cannot create a new bookmark the same website in two or more different bookmark folders. For example, if I bookmark a website in a bookmark folder called 'ABC' and then bookmark the same website in a different bookmark folder called XYZ, the bookmark will be in XYZ, but will be removed from ABC. This happens even when I assign a different name for the bookmark in ABC and XYZ.
Is this the correct bookmark functionality or am I not doing something correctly? Thanks.

You can do a Copy & Paste in the Bookmarks Manager (Shift+Ctrl+B) to create a copy of a bookmark.
You can also drag the (fav)icon on the left end of the location bar to a folder in the Bookmarks menu drop down list or to a folder in the side bar (Ctrl+B) or to the Bookmarks Toolbar.
In the side bar you need to click to the left of the icon to prevent Firefox from opening the bookmark.

  • Eliminating different-resolution duplicates?

I've got just under 5000 photos being copied as we speak into a new iPhoto '08 library. There are a bunch of duplicate photos in that batch, which iPhoto should have caught except I'm pretty sure the pairs (or, god forbid, trios) of duplicates are at different resolutions.
I'd love to be able to trim my library down by eliminating the lower-resolution duplicates. Is there any program/way to do this automatically that will catch them even if the resolutions are different?

  • Bridge_How Fit-to-Screen with different resolution pictures in Fullscreen/Slideshow

    Hallo,
I´m looking for a solution for my following problem:
I have several photographs in totally different resolutions. Some are pretty small, some are huge.
I want to show them with Bridge in FullScreen-Preview or maybe as a slideshow.
How can i bring them all to fit the whole screen, even if the resolution is to small to fit regularly.
In other words, is there an option for dynamic zooming to bring every frame to FIT the Screen, regardless which resolution it got?
I discovered "scale to fit" in the slideshow options, but it doesnt work for me.
An zooming every file in the right position and size is not an option.
Im sure Bridge is able to do it, beacause even IrfanView and ApplePreview are able. But where to find this option?
    Can anybody help?
    Thank you a lot
    best regards
    madlo

As far as I know, Bridge will not enlarge small images. If you hit '+' on fullscreen preview, it zooms in, but keeps the same zoom for every image.
