Will Nokia Fix S60 Call Logs issues?

I dial so often to same persons but to their different numbers. Home, office, Mobile. In contacts, Office and Home both have same icon when even a cheapest of cheap phones from other manufactures show HOME icon for Home, and buildings for Office number.
Then, in call logs all calls to all types of number(home/office/mobile) show with same 'mobile' icon like below:
The right way is to display the right icon like the following Sony Ericsson W910 does. Also note the W910 has a menu option called "OPEN". This take us to the full contacts details of that person so we can dial to his other numbers directly from logs without having to go through 100s of contacts.
When will you guys get this BASIC thing right? Why waste time on Ovi and other **bleep** when you guys can't get basics right?

I and others in this forum are in total agreement.
It drives me absolutely nuts, as well. I never understood why they didn't have a different icon for work as well.
Ever since v3 FP1 and v3 FP2 (and even v5) were released, Nokia created a bug (IMHO) that made the call log almost useless (using the same icon for almost every call).  The worst part is that Nokia refuses to acknowledge it as a bug and says it behaves as designed: the icon represents the network used (i.e., it will show either the mobile phone icon (gsm network) or the Internet Call icon (for VoIP/SIP)).
Who are we kidding here?  How many people actually have VoIP set up? Especially when every other major smartphone manufacturer has adopted a pretty standard way of distinguishing between a contact's multiple numbers.
Call log navigation to the contact details is also a pain.  To add  salt to the wound, wife's s40 dumb-phone  (Nokia 6088) allows her to easily view the caller details with one click, when us users of Nokia's smartphone OS have to exit the call log and search for the user's information in the address book.
Horrible.  I've been holding off purchasing a replacement for my E61i hoping that every new phone fixes this, only to be disappointed yet again.

  • Nokia 6120 classic - Call log icons bug

    Hi to all.
This is my first message in the forum.
One week ago I bought a Nokia 6120 classic with brand Vodafone (I'm from italy).
Everything works great except  the icons in the call log, accessible with the green key (that's to say the answer key).
In fact, despite the phone numbers are correctly stored (and divided, for each contact, into mobile, home, etc.), the icons in the call lag is always the small blue icon related to a mobile phone niumber, even if  the number does not correspond to a mobile phone number.
    I have firmare version 4.21.
This is what appears with *#0000#
    v 04.21
    09-10-07
    RM-243
    Nokia 6129c EMS53.02
Through Nokia Software Updates I see there is a new firmare: v6.01.
Do you know if this firmware fix the call log icons bug?
As it is the unique bug I faced, I don't want to go on with a firmeware update if the new firmare do not solve it.
Unfortunately I can't find on the web a changelog for this firmware.
    Many thanks.

well the change logs for firmware updates are not public knowledge, they do not get released so in reality you never know what you are getting. firmware update is always recommened as it brings in more stability to the phone, usually fixes bugs, improves speed, sometimes battery performance and other identified issues. the chances are that you will not be able to find a changelog for your phone. you may not be able to update your phone unless it has been approved by voda since your phone is branded it is up to them to release approved firmware versions for thier customers.

  • Nokia X6 stores call log for only 3 days

My new Nokia x6 stores call log for only 3 days even though i set up it for 30 days? Any one facing this issue? How to overcome this? PLs help. Thanx in advance...

Have read on this forum.. suggesting to first change the Call Log duration to say 1 day.. Re-boot the phone .. then change it back to 30 days.. and re-boot the phone..
..also in some cases the no. of entries also caused the problem.. though the setting is for 30 days if there is a lot more no. of entries under the log.. it is getting erased automatically.. Some users pointed out that it was happening in their case when there are few applications  that required periodic connection to the network for updates (like e-mail, weather applications, etc..) and frequent logs were getting created...

  • Will BB fix most of these "issues"

    Hi all,
I am new to BB with the Z10. I really want to keep this device.  I really like the simplicity of the phone as a productivity device. I have had Android and they work well, but I don't really care for all the other "**bleep**" they seem to have on them. I use my cell phone mostly as a phone believe it or not.
But I am disappointed with a few things like the contact list duplicating and even up to quadrupling some contacts. No real way to speed dial more than a few entries. The gmail only keeping a limited time frame of older emails.
I have been reading threads and looking for solutions on this board and others with some discouraging results. Will BB fix most of these "issues" and others that this community is posting about? I have about 5day's left before I need to make a decision to send the phone back or not.
To the group, what say you?
    Regards, RicK T.

BlackBerry is working on the gmail duplicate contacts fix.

  • Call log issue after upgrading to OS 10.3.1.1581 from 10.2

    Dear all.
I have update my BlackBerry 10 os to 10.3.1.1581 and to my surprise i find that the call log os restricted to about 150-200 call whereas it was almost unlimited in the previous 10.2 os .
BlackBerry should issue a fix asap since this is such a basic features and necessity.
I find myself in a very bad situation after upgrading.

I have two call lors. One in the phone app, and one in the hub.
I feel like the one in the phone app is quite short, but the one in the hub is unlimited.
Do you confirm on your side?
That being said, tracking more than 150 previous calls regularly is an extreme usage of the phone, I don't think the OS is made for that. I suggest you use a third party app that will be suited at tracking 200 phone calls a day.
There are several that are free currently in BlackBerry World (the Free March section).

  • Nokia 8600 luna call log

When i receive calls it does not show the number and in my call log certain numbers not not show up after an call can you tell me why and how to rectify this problem please
I have updated the software to the latest version done it earlier.
    Cheers Niall

Try booting it without the sim and memory card (if that model has one).
If it won't boot up then unfortunately there is nothing that you can do yourself to retrieve your data.
A nokia care point may be able to help you recover the data but most likely they won't be able to.  They will be able to fix it by reloading the phones software but that will wipe everything out.

  • Nokia 5800 XM - Call log less than 30 days

One of the reasons I bought the nokia 5800 XM was a bigger call log of 30 days. But my phone only stores call log till 4-5 days.
I have set the call history to store for 30 days. I upgraded to firmware 50 also but no fix for this

Have you tried removing battery and sim, rebooting without sim then replacing sim ? Otherwise possibly a soft reset, but it would involve quite a lot of work, depends how important it is to you. When you did update, if you did not JUST back up contacts and calendar ONLY and backed up a settings on the phone then restored them, this can cause conflict with new software, so a soft reset *#7370# followed by 12345 should resove situation, but you'll have to set up your phone afterwards !
    Good Luck

  • WTF Blackberry, WHEN WILL YOU FIX THE DOUBLE TYPING ISSUE

This is **bleep**ing driving me crazy I purchased the blackberry for its keyboard, and it sucks and fauly  You are becoming a **bleep**ty company, and you wonder why you are going bankrupt?  More than 1 year and still no fix Multiple replacement and still the same issue Are you **bleep**ing kiding me, why you stay silent?  I'm going to send a letter to every popular website to let them know about this issue Maybe then you'll react, you don't deserve our money or support

These are user to user forums.  you are not addressing Apple by posting here.  The fix will be made available when it's ready.  No sooner.

  • When will Apple fix the Sonos compatibility issue?

How soon should we expect Apple to work with Sonos to fix the compatibililty issue with Lion?  I am a Sonos fan for the same reason I am a Apple fan, their stuff works and is simple.  I would like to upgrade to Lion but read that the Lion release does "not support sharing drives formatted as FAT32" which apparently Sonos uses.  Does this sound like a simple fix or a long term problem?

Appreciate the direction to check with Sonos.  I looked again at their website and Sonos asserts they believed they had a working software update that would work with Lion during their testing, and while they had a few bugs they were working through prior to the Lion launch, the one issue they have yet to find a work around for is Lion's inability to share music files.  Is there an underlying technology reason that would cause Apple to block access to music files?
I am fearful that I will be caught in the middle and have to choose between upgrading to Lion or abandoning my Sonos equipment.  I hope this doesn't become an issue like the Adobe Flash vs Apple issue.  I imagine most Sonos equipment owners did not purchase with plans of buying replacement gear every 4 to 6 years, unlike the mindset when purchasing computers where we expect to have to replace in 6 years or less.
Hoping for responses that may help Sonos equipment owners to gain insight into the underlying cause of the problem, and whether we should expect a SIMPLE solution soon.
Thanks in advance to the many Apple experts for responses.

  • [E72 - All FW] Wrong Icon on Call Log!

Hi, I've a Nokia E72 No-brand and I had a nokia E51 and both of these two phone seems to suffer of the same issue: the icon of the calls in call log, whatever is the type of the phone that I want to call or that has called me, is always the same: that one of the mobile phone! And this is very annoying because when there are contacts with more than one number type, it's impossible (or quite complicated and frustrating) to identify the correct number to call or that has called me (if I check the missed calls or recent calls in Call Log).
Besides I see that this bug was corrected with the latest firmware in other phones with Symbian S60 5th edition and my question is: why don't fix this very annoying bug also in devices with Symbian S60 3rd edition (like Nokia E72)?
I hope that Nokia can read this thread and fix this (very long standing) bug!

These are some links I found about this problem, searching "icon call log symbian" on Google:
