Will not factory reset!!!

I've been getting the notices to install update to 4.0.4.  When I begin the install the phone will automatically restart and go to this black screen with white google logo....and just freeze there forever.  I've tried this a bunch of times always the same result.
So I did what verizon told me to do and that is to do a factory reset.  Went into the settings app and did factory reset, but my phone did the same thing again!!  It just has a black screen with white google logo and it just stays like that forever!!!!  I tried this many times too all with the same result.
Then I tried doing the alternate method of a factory reset as shown here: http://support.verizonwireless.com/clc/devices/knowledge_base.html?id=51446#alternate
The alternate method also has the same result too in which there is a white google logo on a black screen.
Can anyone tell me how I can get this phone to do a factory reset????
I feel like my only options is >Post edited to comply with VZW ToS< or get a crappy refurb phone.  What do you guys think I should do?

Tidbits,
Would you know what my problem is....?  I have an unmodified Samsung Galaxy Nexus and I've had all kinds of issues with installing the IMM76K over the air.  I've been getting the install notices and when I click install, it reboots, but the only thing I see is a black screen with a white google logo and it'll stay on this screen forever.  Only way to reset is to pull out the battery.  I've tried this multiple times all with the same result.  Finally, I gave up and did as recommended by Verizon and that was to do a factory reset.  Interestingly (or unfortunately), when I do the factory reset, it restarts and all you see is a black screen with white google logo and it stays on this screen forever.  Only way to get out of it is to pull out the battery.  I tried the alternative method of factory reset which is to hold down the power and volume buttons, but I got the same result too, in which it freezes on a black screen with white google logo.
Can you please tell me what might be wrong with my phone.  Again, my phone is not modified in anyway.  Thanks.
It seems like something is wrong with my system, or my bootloader.  Additionally, my phone has really been solid, no dropped calls, no loss of reception, nothing weird, so I'm really hesitant in getting a refurb phone that might have additional problems.
Anyhelp from anyone would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!!!!!

  • I have a iPhone 4 that will not stop resetting itself on its own this is my fourth phone and the second to have this problem

I have a iPhone 4 that will not stop resetting itself on its own this is my fourth phone and the second to have this problem. I have AT&T so I need to post here instead of actually being held to get help on a Sunday night. this is a extremely frustrating situation as I count on this phone for business.

Are you restoring your phone from a previous back up? If so there could be a problem within the back up. Try restoring your phone as a new device and then manualy reinstall all apps.

  • My ipod classic just froze on me and will not even reset.  All I'm getting on the display is a red circle with an x in the middle.  HELP!!!!!!!!!!

My ipod classic just froze on me and will not even reset.  All I'm getting on the display is a read circle with a red x in the middle.  HELP!!!!!!!!!!

If you are unable to get the iPod into Disk Mode to restore it and instead get the red X symbol, it's a very good indication of a damaged hard drive inside of your iPod. This means you'll need to take or send your iPod in for repair or replacement.

Apologies, I was looking at the wrong schematic for the Apple TV 1. There isn't a button. So lets try this instead...
Remove the power cord and wait 20 seconds.
Plug it back in and let it boot (Give it 10 minutes, it's being tempremental)
Try and navigate to the the advanced menu and do a factory restore
If that doesn't work then if you are using the white remote hold down the menu button for six seconds and release this should bring up a hidden menu which will allow you to access the advanced configuration settings.
Again, if this fails there isn't much to do than tap it with a hammer to see if that fixes it (hard to believe how many times that actually works. (No responsibility taken if it breaks!, but at least you'd have a good reason to buy Apple TV 3)

  • How can I salvage an iPad Mini that will not restart, reset or respond to Recover phase via iTunes and is not responding to any functions and will not access Home? Thanks

I have an iPad mini that will not respond and is non functional.  It continues to intermittently try to automatically restart, access home page without success.  It will not accept normal charge. I have tried to manually restart, reset and have been unsuccessful.  It will not allow a Recover attempt via iTunes as well.  Do you have any suggestions before I consider a replacement?  Thanks.

    Hello RC MD,
It seems you are unable to restore your iPad to factory settings, and it is not responding to power. Based on the information you have provided, it appears your iPad may need to be serviced. The following link should help you get started with the process and has links with additional information on topics such as warranty and service pricing, battery replacement, and express replacement service.

  • Will not even reset...acts like no juice

Last night I went through my routine of checking for app updates and syncing my iPad. I also decided to play a song for my honey over airtunes. I then looked up the song information on the internet because I forgot that Art Blakey was doing the speaking part and I wanted to relate that to Matt. When I went back to iTunes to turn off airplay and do the sync to update the apps, my iPad was not listed as an attached device. I tried pushing the home button to wake it up but, it would not wake up and it has not woke up or will not restart. I plugged it into the wall overnight, although it was registering ~80% battery last night. I tried to do a reset while it was plugged into the wall and it is dead as Lincoln. What's up with my iPad?????? It has a manufacture date of 2010. The battery should not be dead. It is never out of a case.

My iPad was just out of warranty. Like days. I purchased it at the University Bookstore in Seattle but, they advised me to take it to Genius Bar. I took it over and made an appointment for the next day because my dog was waiting at home to be let out. The next day the Mac Specialist took it into the back where the repair department is and said, "Yep, it isn't getting any juice, whatsoever." He went ahead and replaced it with it with a unit that he advised is from the factory. It has a STRANGE serial number with ...RETU at the end. That was suspicious but, at least it works...so far. I only hope iPads aren't manufactured just to meet the warranty date and then die. They are too expensive for that and I have found that the iPad actually totally replaces a laptop for me. Now, the  next computer I get...provided they last beyond the complementary warranty date, would be an iMac.

  • Time capsule will not hard reset

Have a older time capsule will not reset any method. Light just keeps flashing yellow

Can you access it via the airport utility.. if so you can reset via the utility.
When you press the reset button with a paperclip or toothpick you should feel the switch.. it is fairly normal switch effect like the keyboard. If in the past you pushed too hard you have bent and jammed the lever.. so it is now broken.. the only way to fix it is to open the TC and fix the lever arm.
BTW the light always flashes yellow.. when you have done a successful reset it simply flashes faster.
    The Factory Reset Gen1-4.
Unplug your TC. Hold in reset. and power the TC back on.. without releasing reset for about 10sec. When the status light flashes rapidly; release it.
Be Gentle! Feel the switch click on. It has a positive feel..  add no more pressure after that.
TC will reboot after a couple of minutes with default factory settings and will wipe out previous configurations.
No files are deleted on the hard disk.. No reset of the TC deletes files.. to do that you use erase from the airport utility.

  • My hp windows 7 laptop will not factory restore

when i try to factory restore my  laptop it gets to a screen saying restoring files and been saying that for over 10 hours

but should i hear wired noises coming from it if the hard drives bad bcz i not hear nothing
No.  Hard drives do not always make weird noises when they are bad.  Weird noises are caused by mechanical failure such as bearings, but when the platters have faults you will not hear any weird noises.

  • Will a factory reset remove my carrier information?

Like I said in the title, I'm needing to do a factory reset on my iPhone 4s, and I'm need to know if it'll remove my carrier settings (my own number) so I'm not without a phone for any longer than I need to be. I am currently running iOS 7.

Carrier settings and account information are stored on the SIM card.
Nothing on the SIM is touched during a restore.

  • IPad 3 not factory resetting

I have been tring to factory reset my ipad3 and its stuck on the spinning loading screen can any one help

Try a Reset: Hold the Sleep and Home button down for about 10 to 15 seconds to go into Recovery Mode.
If the Reset doesn't work, try and force iPad into Recovery Mode:
    1. Turn off iPad
    2. Connect USB cable to computer; leave the other end alone
    3. Press and hold the Home button down and connect the docking end of cable to iPad
    4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect To iTune" screen
    5. Release the Home button
    6. Open iTune
    7. You should see "iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode"
    8. Use iTune to restore iPad
Note: You need to be patient and repeat the above many times to recover your iPad

  • My iPod will not be reset to factory settings

Hello I am new at this. And I'm not very computer-savvy. But I love my mac.
Here is my problem. I have updated my iTunes on my eMac to the latest version. I plug in my iPod (2nd generation, 3.1 I think) and although my iPod shows up on the desktop and on "my computer" iTunes says " may be corrupted. You must reset it to factory settings" I agree, and follow all the prompts to reset it, and when I do, it shuts iTunes down. So I have an updated iTunes and an older, empty iPod that I cannot reset to factory settings.
    What can i do?
    Thanks, Dehnerdog

    For Mac computer
    1. Open the disk utility, hope your iPod appears there (left hand side), highlight it
    2. Go to Tab “Partition”, click either “Delete” or “Partition”, if fails, skip this step and go to 3
    3. Go to Tab “Erase” , choose Volume Format as “MAC OS Extended (Journaled), and click Erase, again if fails, skip it and go to 4
    4. Same as step 3, but open the “Security Options....” and choose “Zero Out Data” before click Erase. It will take 1 to 2 hours to complete.
    5. Eject your iPod and do a Reset
    6. Open the iTunes 7 and click “Restore”
Please note that you can have a try to skip the "zero out data" option
