Will not open up with the home page I have specifed on navigator toolbar I have gone through all the settings but it reverts to another home page when I restart the PC
I want my page to open up with google which it has until lately when I downloaded jzip and since then it always opens up with http://search.jzip.com/ instead of http://www.google.com.au/ When it comes up with jzip I change it to google and request it to be my home page and it stays that way till I restart the pc and it reverts back to izip and I have to go through the same process to change back to google, it never used to do this at times when I have down loaded information it has changed but I have always been able to revert to the correct home page and it stay that way but not any more.
The jzip is in the navigator toolbar section as are other websites but this is the only one that keeps being used as the home page hope you can find a solution as it is very annoying.
You can open the <b>about:config</b> page via the location bar and do a search for <i>jzip</i> via the Filter at the top of the about:config page.<br />
You can reset all <i>jzip</i> related prefs via the right-click context menu to their default values.

The System Preference:Desktop&Screensaver will not open. I get a rotating circle that never stop rotating. I have to do a Force Stop.
Quit System Preferences if it's running. In the Finder, hold down the option key and select
Go ▹ Library
from the menu bar. From the Library folder, delete the following item, if it exists:
Caches/com.apple.systempreferences
and move the following item to the Desktop:
Preferences/com.apple.desktop.plist
Launch System Preferences and test. If you still have the issue, put the item on the Desktop back where it came from and post again. Otherwise, delete the item. -

There is no need to download anything to solve this problem.
You may have installed the "Genieo" or "InstallMac" ad-injection malware. Follow the instructions on this Apple Support page to remove it.
Back up all data before making any changes.
Besides the files listed in the linked support article, you may also need to remove this file in the same way:
~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.genieo.completer.ltvbit.plist
If there are other items with a name that includes "Genieo" or "genieo" alongside any of those you find, remove them as well.
One of the steps in the article is to remove malicious Safari extensions. Do the equivalent in the Chrome and Firefox browsers, if you use either of those. If Safari crashes on launch, skip that step and come back to it after you've done everything else.
If you don't find any of the files or extensions listed, or if removing them doesn't stop the ad injection, then you may have one of the other kinds of adware covered by the support article. Follow the rest of the instructions in the article.
Make sure you don't repeat the mistake that led you to install the malware. Chances are you got it from an Internet cesspit such as "Softonic" or "CNET Download." Never visit either of those sites again. You might also have downloaded it from an ad in a page on some other site. The ad would probably have included a large green button labeled "Download" or "Download Now" in white letters. The button is designed to confuse people who intend to download something else on the same page. If you ever download a file that isn't obviously what you expected, delete it immediately.
In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
Still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
Install system data files and security updates
if it's not already checked. -
Safari will not open; same with software update. Work on diff. user.
I have OS X 10.4.9 installed, There are two users (I am the Admin user) and Safari will not open, it launches, then instantly crashes, same for software update, and widgets that connect to the internet. Firefox and IE, work fine, and Safari works on the other user. This has to be a password or permissions problem. I ran disk-warrior, and repaired all permissions,etc.
Any thoughts? I am scratching my head on this one.

Interactive PDF will not open online with IE
I have been using ID 5.0 for a year creating interactive PDF publications. All of the sudden the PDF will not open in any version of IE. Works fine with Chrome, Safari...
I have unistalled ID and reloaded but that did not help. I have changed versions of IE with no improvement.
Previous publications onlie still open fine, its just the current publication that has the issue.7y6
Anyone have any ideas?

Sparse Disk Image will not open along with encrypted document
I have two problems. I created a sparse disk image of my documents folder and encrypted it but recently when I select it and double click it to open it up nothing happens. I put in my password and in the finder window it shows the image but no documents folder will open up.
I ran disk utility and disk warrior and all is okay on my hard drive. I did burn a CD of the files in this folder so I do have a backup but wondered why it will not open up now, any suggestions?
The second problem is in this same folder, I created a word document years ago when I had my old G3 iMac and used at times MS Word 2000. At the time, I locked this Word document, and now it is encrypted and it won't open up. I can't remember the password used back in 2000 and so this document is encrypted and I don't know how to decrypt it, any suggestions.
I do know there are software programs to delete passwords in MS Word and that they will decrypt my document, but the ones I try to download won't work. Any suggestions.

DaisyMayA follow up to my MS word document. I found that I created the file in MS word 2000, and I used the Apple File Security for OS 9 to encrypt it. I can't remember the password, and I do not find anything in the key chain listing.
I have Pages 08, but I don't think I can use it if I can't remember the password to unlock this old document. Is there a program to decrypt this without a password?

MACBOOK WILL NOT OPEN FOLDERS WITH A DOUBLECLICK
It highlights it with a single click & seems to be fine wen using in other ways except it will not open by doubleclicking on the desktop folders/files or wen im trying to open a folder/file in coverflow but seems to be working when i click on an app to open it etc.
Any help will be appreciated,also i downloaded lockdown & iAlert u & could not get the apps to work at all i put the password in both apps as to lock my macbook but it wouldnt work as alarms for security of theft etc which i think is highly recommendeable & brilliant applications for anyone especially with macbooks Any help please ,could i have locked the desktop with these apps & thats why i cant open the folders etc on my desktop?Those apps are so brilliant that you are stuck in them and can't use your Mac.

Firefox has not opened for a while. I did a fresh install on a windows 8.1 64 bit operating system and the darn thing still will not open. I am not happy about this.I'm re-installing from a cd. I have upgraded since Aperture 1.0!! When I use the install from Aperture 3.0, it won't open my library (because it has been updated to a newer version of Aperture). So, I tried to open Aperture with the sample library on the disc. No go. States I don't have permissions.
I updated the re-installed version of Aperture 3.0 to the current 3.2.3. I still CANNOT open Aperture. I seem to be getting the same error message.
I have fixed permissions and all. My Mac is up to date. I don't know what else to do.
I have a MacBook Air and Aperture works great on it. Problem is my huge library is difficult to transfer or duplicate since it is so large. I think I will just take out my hard drive from my Mac Pro and put it in a desktop enclosure.
I can't even open Aperture from my Vault. -
I have uninstalled version 8 and tried to go back to an earlier version, but browser still will not open.
Delete the Program Files for Firefox and install a freshly downloaded Firefox_setup file.

Actually, you're not. That's not an accurate description of any of the Canon 5D models.
There are EOS 5D, EOS 5D Mark II, and EOS 5D Mark III models. Which do you have, specifically? Details will matter for this.
If you have a 5D Mark III (three) it's too new and you will not be able to directly open files with Photoshop CS4. You'll either need a newer version of Photoshop or to use the free DNG converter.

Aperture will not open, even with re-install
I have not been able to open Aperture from my desktop or from the library. My library is huge, 993 GB. I have been using Aperture for years and with the latest upgrade to 3.2.3, it won't open. I get an error message that states "Aperture cannot be opened because of a problem. Here are the detatils:

Firefox will not open even with new profile
When I attempt to open Firefox nothing happens on screen. I have created a new profile still no joy. In the Windows Task Master Process window Firefox.exe is shown. I have attempted to update Firefox no joy I have uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox still no joy. I know that it is working in the background but where and how can I bring it to the foreground

Have checked the Firewall that is ok and have allowed any mention of Firefox to have Internet acess , still no joy, I am using Zone Alarm.
I do not get any messages when I attempt open Fire Fox just the browser does not open. I can see in the Task Manager that Firefox has started and is sitting idle but no Browser window.
I End Task in the Task Manager before I attempt to start Fire Fox again after I have made any changes such as the changes to Zone Alarm as mentioned before. Then I attempt to start Firefox again and still no joy. -
Just got a new Imac. I migrated from the old Imac. When I boot the new Imac, the old user screen boots up. I have to log out and then log into my new user on the new mac. Whats up?
Thanks.Thanks for your help. But the PowerBook has a Migration Assistant designed for the purpose of transfering files from the old Mac to the new Mac. The steps take me to the point where I'm instructed to restart the old Mac while holding down the "T" key. But nothing happens when I do that. It just restarts and the Migration Assistant on the new Mac still reads "waiting for old Mac to restart".
There has to be a way to do this. I can't install the original applications on the PowerBook from scratch because they were meant to run on Classic. The PowerBook doesn't recognize any of the old Classic installation disks I have from previous Macs (Oddly, the PowerBook has capability to run Classic, but not the actual software-- and no Classic installation disk was provided, unlike the software provided for iBooks. And I can't install any of the System X upgrades because they need to recognize the original application already on the computer in order to upgrade.
I just calculated that if I have to rebuy all the applications I need, I couldn't afford to do it (unless someone can-- or even wants to-- take the old versions off my hands to offset the cost of buying new ones).
There must thousands of graphic designers like me who run a small business and can't afford to re-stock their entire software collection every time they upgrade to a new computer. Why would Apple diss the very people who have been supporting the company (actually keeping it alive) all these years? I don't think they would do that. I'll just have to keep looking for a solution.
