Will not Power-on; Blinking Red D55 (DS5?) light; pulsating fan

G4 unexpectedly powered off; will not power on. No response when pushing power on button.
Observe blinking D55 light and fan pulsating in time with light.
I tried taking out the battery (replaced it as the battery tested bad) and resetting the pmu.
Any diagnosis from these symptoms to help revive my baby?
Thanks,
dlb

Hello! I think I'd be concerned that the power supply has a problem. The blinking light may be pulling enough voltage to cause the fan to pulsate. Tom

  • After upgrade attempt for 8310, device will not restart -- only blinking red light

Problem: I tried to upgrade the device software to 4.5, and now THE DEVICE WILL NOT RESTART AT ALL. Not with a hard reset. Not using the SIM and battery from my 8310 and putting it in hers. Nothing. Just a red light that blinks in a pattern: two quick blinks, then a pause; two quick blinks, then a pause, etc.
Background: This 8310 had vers. 4.2.2 device software, and something like 2.6 on the desktop. I downloaded/upgraded to 4.6 for the desktop and 4.5 for the device from the AT&T site. The Desktop manager prompted me to install the new device software... looking good. After several minutes, I got an "unknown error" message and it stopped the install.Following a support article, I uninstalled reinstalled both updates, but then the problem occurred: no NOTHING happens on the device screen at all, just the blinking red light when the device is plugged in.
The AT&T store tells me this is about the tenth "dead" Curve he's seen in about a week, apparently all occurring when folks have attempted a software updgrade. Any thoughts/help to offer?

  • Pavilion Sleekbook 15-b142dx Will Not Power On/ No L.E.D. Lights

Hey all, had my laptop for some time now with next to no issues until now. Put laptop in a bag and put it in a back seat to just drive down the street. Arrived at destination to find it would not power on nor indicate it was charging.
Battery was at 80% before leaving so it is not dead. Power block receives power which is indicated by green L.E.D. light on power block and pin connectors look fine on both ends. Removed battery to boot from AC power, but nothing. Attempted a hard reset to no avail. I am somewhat knowledgable on internals so I had a look inside, but apart from some dust accumulation everything was connected as should be and I did not see any foreseeable damage to any hardware. Checked voltage levels on AC adapter and it does receive power.
I just checked my warranty status and I'm all green, but before jumping to that and having to be stuck with a Aspire One Netbook I would like some Q&A. Might have missed something, who knows. I have gone through support page and attempted everything relevant thrice.
    TL;DR:
-Laptop (Pavilion Sleekbook 15-b142dx) does not power on nor indicate it recieves (L.E.D. lights)
    -Nothing damaged physically
-Already went through entire support page
    Thank you!

  • Compaq presario cq56 115dx will not power on blinking lights, not a disk drive problem

I own two identical Compaq Presario CQ56 115-DX, and the one I use every day stopped powering on.  Shows blinking caps lock light and orange WIFI light does not turn blue to turn on.  The fan powers on, but the screen doesn't come on at all.  I tried hard resetting several times and it didn't work.  I swapped the hard drive of the malfunctioning CQ56 to the other one that was working normally, and it works OK normally.  No hard disk corruption or problems.
Any idea how to fix this problem laptop?

    Hey @rajpodn ,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand you're looking for info on swapping out the CPU in your notebook.
You will find everything you need here: Compaq Presario CQ56 Notebook PC - Maintenance and Service Guide. The instructions you need start on page 75. Keep in mind that the CPU itself may not be the issue, it could be the socket on the motherboard preventing the notebook from reading the CPU, so even replacing the CPU may not work, as you may need a replacement motherboard. I do not suggest replacing the motherboard as doing so requires HP Proprietary software to reinstall the Service-ID necessary for reinstalling Windows.
*Caution - If you do install the new CPU be careful with the thermal paste. A small pea sized amount should be more than enough. Put the paste in the exact center and carefully spread so there is a fine layer almost to the edge of the CPU. Remember that the heatsink will press very firmly onto the CPU and spread the paste more and you don't want any squishing out as this can cause electrical shorts if the paste has a high metal content.
The part you will want is: AMD V140 processor (2.3 GHz, 512-MB, L2 cache, 1066 MHz, 3.2 GT/s)—singlecore 25 W. The part number for this is: 616333-001.
You can order the CPU directly from HP here: HP Part Surfer, but you may be able to find it cheaper on sites like eBay, Amazon, or Newegg.
Hopefully this covers everything you're after!

  • Will not power up?? Curve 8330

8330 is stuck in a loop......and will not power on.   Red light is on, then the screen will light up like it is powering on and then go black again.    Tried pulling battery(several hours) and same issue.

Leave the device to charge 2-3 hours, and then, still connected to the USB cable, remove the the battery from the device a few seconds and reinsert it. If it boots--leave it to charge to 100% (check Options > Status for the percentage).
If it doesn't boot--try using a wall outlet charger if you are not. If you are connected via USB to the PC, make certain that you have Desktop Manager (or the USB device drivers) installed, which you can download below.
Make certain your USB cable is connected to one of the PC's main rear USB ports. Not a USB hub, nor a monitor USB port, nor a USB port on the front of the PC.
    Download Desktop Manager from here:

Sleep light is on but MacBook pro will not power up

    Hi a,
If the sleep light is already on when you try to start up, that means the MBP isn't shut down, so cannot start up. Hold down the power button for 5-10 seconds to shut it down, then try starting up.

My 13.3" macbook pro will not power up.The battery indicator light does not come on.The Mag safe charging light flickers green and red dimly.I had a cell phone connected to the USB port.

This didn't work for me, so I did a bit of searching and TONS of pages later in google, I found an answer. Here are the steps for people who also were in my situation:
    1. Take off bottom case
    2. Unplug battery - blurry image here: http://i.ytimg.com/vi/03cC79r5Dx4/0.jpg
    3. Press and hold power button for 5 seconds
    4. Plug a charger in, and it should start booting up
    5. After shutting down again, reconnect the battery and close the case up
    6. It works! (hopefully, if you guys had the same situation I did)

  • My 9900 will not power up

My 9900 will not power up.  The only thing that is noticable is that the red LED on the front panel blinks 1 long and 3 short (technical code of some sort?)
Is there any way of fixing this unit ?

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Please try this sequence...note that, throughout the entire 4h15m process, your BB must remain directly connected to a known-good wall charger (not PC USB, not a cradle):
With the battery inside, connect your BB to the wall charger
Leave it alone for 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
    Remove the battery
    Wait 15 minutes
    Insert the battery
Wait another 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
This has been known to "kick start" some BBs.
It is also possible that your battery or BB has experienced a problem...to test, this sequence is needed:
Obtain an known good and already fully charged additional battery...use it in your BB and see what happens
Obtain access to a known good and identical BB...use your battery in it and see what happens
The results of this will indicate if it's your BB or your battery that has the problem. Note carefully please that "new" and "know good" are not necessarily the same things. While rare, a "new" battery certainly could be defective. Rather, the simplest (and least costly, btw) method to conduct this test is to find someone with an identical BB who has no issues...trade batteries and see what happens.
Good luck and let us know!

  • IPad 3 will not power down

iPad 3 will not power down. Also no information  of any kind is displayed in settings.

Have you tried a reset ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • Centro will not Power Off - Verizon

My Centro will not power down. Push red button and screen comes right back on.  Only way to stop it is to remove the battery.  Battery dies very quickly when this problem occurs.  Happens about once a day.  Verizon replaced phone about 2 wks ago for the same problem.  Up dated software.  This does not mean I want to shut off the phone part, the calendar etc will not go off.  Screen stays lit.  Any help will be appreciated.
    Post relates to: Centro (Verizon)

Try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.

  • Compaq CQ62z-200 will not power on

I have a Compaq CQ62z-200 laptop which will not power on.  I have tried removing the battery and powering it on using only AC Power and I can get the PC to turn on and go to the red Compaq screen but it then powers off in less than a second.  When it does power on briefly it makes a click before shutting down.  Any idea as to what this could be and how to repair it?

Unless you know how to replace the motherboard and can save the labort charges I would say it is just time to get a new laptop. With new ones at record low prices and considering how much better laptops have gotten in the last 3 years, the decision seems easy.

  • 6830 Will not power down

Will not power down when power switch depressed. Screen says shutting down, only way to turn off is to unplug?? Very long restart. Less than 3 weeks old. Thanks F101B

No, I don't think so. Do a reboot:
    Rebooting your iDevice
Hold down the Sleep (On-Off) and Home buttons totether for about 10-15 seconds or until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears - then let go of the buttons. The iPad should begin to start up.

  • IPad1  that will not power down

My iPad1 will not power down.  The wheel just keeps spining.
    Help !!

Hold down on the sleep button and the home button at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
