Will not start charging

my computer will not charge. it says that the power is connected. but do not let what can I do about this?
when I do a battery test, it tells me that the battery is okay.

Hi, I have the same problem with my HP Pavillion dv6-2136el.
The original battery stopped working after 18 months.
I bought a new battery and after 2 complete charge cycle, the battery stopped working again.
Then I bought a second Battery and the malfunction is always present.

  • Battery will not start charging

I don't know why I think it software related but my battery will not go into the charging mode. I have been watching it for a few days now and it is now down to 1% charge left and has yet to start charging it's self back up. Anyone have any ideas?

    Dpbours,
Try shutting down, removing the battery and AC and press and hold the power button several times, then re-insert the battery and AC and see if it will charge correctly.
You could also try the battery gauge reset function.
Do you have another battery you could try in the system to see if it will charge - it could be the charging circuit is bad, but this seems a rather unlikely condition.
What does the battery information tab on power manager report about the battery in terms of full charge capacity vs design capacity?  How many cycles are on it?
    Mcmarchitto,
Perhaps you could tell us exactly which system you have, what battery and a few details about your configuration?  We are probably limited to general advice otherwise.
If you have a new system T410/510 system, you might check out this tip - we have a new BIOS and battery firmware for download that could resolve this kind of charging issue.

  • IPod will not start, charge or respond to computer or anything

All of a sudden, my iPod stopped working. it will not respond when i attach it to my computer, it will not respond to the charger - anything.
Any ideas to make this iPod not worthless?
    Thanks

    Have you tried a Reset?
    1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
    2. Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 10 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.
Tip: If you are having difficulty resetting your iPod, set it on a flat surface. Make sure the finger pressing the Select button is not touching any part of the click wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Menu button toward the outside of the click wheel, and not near the center.
If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep.

Yes, your battery is likely toast and in need of replacement.  Not much else for troubleshooting here.  Sorry.

Turn off your laptop, unplug all wires, remove the battery, and hold the power button for thirty seconds. Afterwards, reattach the battery and connections. If it still won't start, remove the battery and start with just the AC power. Next try without the AC power and just the battery.

I tried to restart my iPad due to problems with a Pinterest app that took up a lot of storage in the cache...now the apple logo comes up but will not start...it has recently been charged

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)

Ipad2 will not start ,just dead.battery is charged

Mine had a similar thing happen after a few weeks, except that mine wouldn't even start until I'd done the reset - I havn't had a problem since. Unless you start getting regular problems I wouldn't get too concerned. And it may have been caused by apps that you've downloaded, so it may not necessarily be down to the operating system or Apple's apps - but no code is bug free.

please help me my ipod nano 7g went off and will not start, this happened after I connect to my computer, my ipod will restart and I no longer turn on. what I do?

    Hey saintbless,
Thanks for the question. The following article outlines troubleshooting information for iPod nano. While it mostly refers to the 6th generation, most steps apply for your model as well:
iPod nano (6th generation): Hardware troubleshooting

Will not turn on or screen remains dark
    - Connect iPod to power for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has enough charge to allow iPod to turn on.
    - If iPod does not turn on after ten minutes, try resetting the device while it is still connected to power. Reset the iPod by holding down the Sleep/Wake button and the Volume Down button for at least eight seconds or until you see the Apple logo appear.
    - If the Apple logo appears on the display, connect iPod to a computer and verify that it appears in iTunes and can play music. If iPod appears in iTunes and can play music, no further troubleshooting is needed.
    - If the screen remains dark and will not turn on, then your iPod may need service.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • Macbook Will Not Start Up

My Macbook will not start up
I've had it about 5 years and around 3 years ago it started to go wrong with random shut downs so i took it into my local apple store and they replaced almost everything internally free under the special warranty i paid for.
since then its worked flawlessly, i dont use it often but did about a week ago to setup my new airport express (which wouldnt work from a pc)
now .. it wont start up
i't dosen't have a battery, that ended its serviceable life around a year ago with a life span of about 4 minutes so since then i've just run it plugged into the mains charger and has been absolutely fine.
when i plug the power adapter in the green light comes on and when i press the power button i can hear something inside whirring on start up (i suspect the HDD) and then the optical drive makes it usual sound ... but nothing else. there is no chime and the little white indicator does nothing also.
i tried unplugging everything and holding down the power button and that didnt do anything.
it's running Snow Leopard and literally has nothing on it, no files, no installed software, it only used from browsing the net so is pretty much empty except the OS.
PLEASE can someone help me find the problem and get my mac running again

Well i never did try the command option p r combo, but have now and makes no difference.
and the macbook dosen't work again.
sometimes it sounds like it wants to boot, the HDD spins up and the optical drive makes a noise but no screen and no chime.
sometimes it does the above and then seems to keep rebooting as the optical drive keeps making the start up noise it does on boot about 5-6 times in a row.
but on all occasions ... still no boot and no screen.
    Logic board fail ???

  • Satelite Pro A60 - Will not start up

My A60 will not start. The power supply is plugged in with a green light on the power block and the A60. The battery has fully charged (light started orange and is now green). Nothing happens when the power button is pressed!
Tried taking the battery out and running on AC but no change.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks
    L

    HI Lawrence,
Try removing the battery and also diconnecting the AC supply for a few minutes. Then re-install the battery and try to power on the unit. If this doesn't work then remove the battery and connect the AC supply. Again try to poer on the unit.
If none of the above works then you will need to refer to an Authorised Service Partner to have the notebook checked.

  • Mac Book Pro will not start on Battery Power

Mac Book Pro will not start on Battery Power although battery at 98% need to connect charger. When started date and time incorrect, comes up as 1st Jan 2012.

What is the exact model of your MBP?  The date change often is an indication of power loss to the MBP, such as disconnecting the battery.
If the SMC reset does not solve the situation, post this from your MBP:
Make certain that the power adapter is connected.
    Ciao.

  • IPad 2 will not start

My iPad 2 will not start.  I get the apple logo, then the rotating wheel and then it goes back to the apple logo and starts the process all over again.  I have held down both the sleep button and the home button for over 10 seconds at a time, even going up to 1 minute, but no change.  Battery is charged.  There is no slide to off screen available.  I have tried to plug it into iTunes, but iTunes will not do anything without me entering the pass code on the iPad.  I cannot get to the pass code screen?  Any suggestions?  I was uploading to the cloud, but I can't find that available to me either!

Unfortunately, this may be the only way that you can bypass this whole loop that you are in - by connecting to a computer that is running iTunes so that you can restore the iPad using recovery mode.
You can use any computer to do this, but you will lose all of the content on the iPad. On the bright side - since you are using iCloud, this should not affect your backup. After you restore the iPad, you can restore from your iCloud backup and you should be OK.
An Apple Store should probably be able to do this for you. Make an appointment at a Genuis Bar. Or if you know somebody else with a computer running iTunes, you can restore the iPad on their computer.
