Will not start up or charge

I cannot boot my 12" powerbook OR charge the battery. The battery life was quickly failing and then the computer suddenly shut off while it was plugged in. Have I lost everything?! What do I do?!

Welcome to the Apple discussions.
Can you add some more details, ie, is the ring around the power adapter line at the computer orange or green or nothing? When you try to boot your system, what happens ... messages, what's displayed on the screen, etc.
Do you have your OS X disks that came with the system?

  • ZEN Vision M, will not start up or charge at all.

Hello, I have tried letting the player charge (even though it doesn't show that it's charging) on my computer USB for about 4 hours now, and still nothing... I tried the restart button, nothing... I tried holding the power switch on and restart button (for restore mode), nothing.... I don't know what to do, I guess one of my other questions iso I need to have the software installed on my computer inorder to just charge the player? My computer was updated and ever since the media player has not been recognized, but I haven't had the chance to reinstall it yet.
The battery died on my player and now it has the above symptoms....Please help.

Has you ever recharged the zen by that USB port that you're trying now? You need a direct USB conection for best results.
If the Zen has runed out the battery, it may pass a long time until it starts rechargin.
When it is recharging, the blue light will blink until it gets full battery, so the light will go off.
You must get a real charger, it doesn't mind if it isn't from creative, you need a charger similar to that used for small devices... I'm using the one that came with my Bluetooth GPS, and I'm sure that there are a lot of more devices using 5 volts (more or less) for recharging.
You can also try a car-Cigarrete lighter to USB power source, to recharge in the car...
If you said that you have just updated your computer, think that it can be a problem with power saving mode of the port, that if the computer doesn't recognize a device on the port, it won't send energy... Just a thought. Try to use a Pen dri've in that port before connecting the zen, then extract it without using the "secure extracting" method (Think that if you don't write or erase a thing from the pendri've, it is safe for the data) , plug the zen and wait, you know it can wait a long time before starting the recharging.
The last: Try to get a real charger, I also use it to recharge my PDA!

  • Mac book pro will not start up.  Charging light is on, but no response from computer.  What happened?

The Mac Book Pro was fine, and then just stopped working.  I connect the power source, and the light is on as if it is charging.  However, when I try to turn the laptop on, nothing happens.  There is no response whatsoever.  Any ideas what happened and what I need to do?

  • I phone 6 will not start after overnight charge.

Plugged my I phone 6 into AC charge and powered down for the night.  This morning after disconnecting from charger came up with very large size text and number keyboard.  I cannot log my code into phone because the numbers are two large to fit the screen.  Please tell me if others have had this problem and how they fixed it.

Tap on the screen with three fingers
Then you may want to go into settings - general - accessibility - change or turn off zoom settings

Yes, your battery is likely toast and in need of replacement.  Not much else for troubleshooting here.  Sorry.

  • Battery will not start charging

I don't know why I think it software related but my battery will not go into the charging mode. I have been watching it for a few days now and it is now down to 1% charge left and has yet to start charging it's self back up. Anyone have any ideas?

    Dpbours,
Try shutting down, removing the battery and AC and press and hold the power button several times, then re-insert the battery and AC and see if it will charge correctly.
You could also try the battery gauge reset function.
Do you have another battery you could try in the system to see if it will charge - it could be the charging circuit is bad, but this seems a rather unlikely condition.
What does the battery information tab on power manager report about the battery in terms of full charge capacity vs design capacity?  How many cycles are on it?
    Mcmarchitto,
Perhaps you could tell us exactly which system you have, what battery and a few details about your configuration?  We are probably limited to general advice otherwise.
If you have a new system T410/510 system, you might check out this tip - we have a new BIOS and battery firmware for download that could resolve this kind of charging issue.

Turn off your laptop, unplug all wires, remove the battery, and hold the power button for thirty seconds. Afterwards, reattach the battery and connections. If it still won't start, remove the battery and start with just the AC power. Next try without the AC power and just the battery.

  • I tried to restart my iPad due to problems with a Pinterest app that took up a lot of storage in the cache...now the apple logo comes up but will not start...it has recently been charged

I tried to restart my iPad due to problems with a Pinterest app that took up a lot of storage in the cache...now the apple logo comes up but will not start...it has recently been charged

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)

  • IPod will not start, charge or respond to computer or anything

All of a sudden, my iPod stopped working. it will not respond when i attach it to my computer, it will not respond to the charger - anything.
Any ideas to make this iPod not worthless?
    Thanks

    Have you tried a Reset?
    1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
    2. Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 10 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.
Tip: If you are having difficulty resetting your iPod, set it on a flat surface. Make sure the finger pressing the Select button is not touching any part of the click wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Menu button toward the outside of the click wheel, and not near the center.
If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep.

Ipad2 will not start ,just dead.battery is charged

Mine had a similar thing happen after a few weeks, except that mine wouldn't even start until I'd done the reset - I havn't had a problem since. Unless you start getting regular problems I wouldn't get too concerned. And it may have been caused by apps that you've downloaded, so it may not necessarily be down to the operating system or Apple's apps - but no code is bug free.

  • My ipod nano 7g went off and will not start, this happened after I connect to my computer, my ipod will restart and I no longer turn on. I do?

please help me my ipod nano 7g went off and will not start, this happened after I connect to my computer, my ipod will restart and I no longer turn on. what I do?

    Hey saintbless,
Thanks for the question. The following article outlines troubleshooting information for iPod nano. While it mostly refers to the 6th generation, most steps apply for your model as well:
iPod nano (6th generation): Hardware troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3474
Will not turn on or screen remains dark
    - Connect iPod to power for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has enough charge to allow iPod to turn on.
    - If iPod does not turn on after ten minutes, try resetting the device while it is still connected to power. Reset the iPod by holding down the Sleep/Wake button and the Volume Down button for at least eight seconds or until you see the Apple logo appear.
    - If the Apple logo appears on the display, connect iPod to a computer and verify that it appears in iTunes and can play music. If iPod appears in iTunes and can play music, no further troubleshooting is needed.
    - If the screen remains dark and will not turn on, then your iPod may need service.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.
