Will NVIDIA GeForce2 TwinView drive a 23" CHD display?

My 17" Studio Display (ADC) went completely dark (dead) yesterday and I was thinking of getting a new Apple 23" Cinema HD display (DVI). I would like some informed opinions as to whether my current G4 NVIDIA GeForce2 TwinView (64MB) card will adequately drive the 23" HD display to full resolution. If not, what limitations would I run up against? Would the Apple 20" Cinema HD (DVI) display be a better choice? If yes, why? If neither of these would work correctly, can anyone recommend a graphics card update? Genius Bar at my local Apple store said use the ADC to DVI adapter and I would have no problems but I am very suspicious of that answer. Any insights would be helpful.

Got the new monitor hooked up last night, and all is working properly.
It replaced a 21" Apple CRT that lasted nearly 9 years. It would periodically just turn off - could be after 5 hours or 5 minutes. I am guessing it's a relay in decline, which after investigation I decided was a fix I didn't want to get into either DIY or paid repair.

Will Nvidia update the driver for quadro 4000 for mac? When?

Not sure when/if they will make an update to the Quadro 4000 driver but I've been running the current driver without any issues.
Are you experiencing any problems? If so please explain.
Here the links to the latest driver:

  • Will NVIDIA FX 5200 drive a 23"?

    Hello-
I have a Power Mac G5 1.5, single processor, late 2004 build, with the NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 Ultra video card as orignally spec'd. Will the card drive a new 23" cinema disply?
The specs for the card say it will support 1900x1200, and it has DVI, but I'd like to know if anyone has this setup working, are there issues I should know about, or do I need another card?
    Thank you

  • Studio Display - Family M2454 with NVIDIA GeForce2 MX

I've recently acquired an older Studio Display LCD (M2454) and would like to use it with my G4 867-MHz PowerPC G4 (Quicksilver). However, while the Mac works great with my analog CRT Studio Display, whenever I plug in the LCD display, the Mac will not start up. Starts up fine whenever the LCD ADC connector is not connected to the video card (whether the CRT display is connected or not.)
Any hints for troubleshooting this situation? Is the digital side of the NVIDIA GeForce2 MX dead? or is the LCD dead? or neither and something else needs attention? I've run the 2004 NVIDIA Firmware Update 1.1 successfully.
Power Mac G4   Mac OS X (10.4)   have several other Macs

I have the same problem. I had the CPU and the display packed in suitcases and when I got home the computer won't start up with the display plugged in. It will start up normally with no display--or I assume so since I can't see anything--and I can also use it as a FireWire target drive using my G3 PowerBook. This is very frustrating.

  • Xorg 1.8 - nvidia 96xx legacy driver

Since a few weeks I use Archlinux and I'was happy with it until my last upgrade. After this (incl. kernel 2.6.34 and xorg 1.8) I was lost in the dark. Googling learned me that the nvidia 96xx legacy driver (I have an old Geforce card) cannot cope with xorg 1.8 (yet??). Could this be better coordinated in the future?
If not, can someone please explain (in simple terms, I'm a newbie, what to do if such things happen).
    Thanks in advance.

I didn't use anything else to install nvidia-96xx, it was with pacman. nvidia-96xx is no longer on repos but it was when i made the setup. I dont see why they removed it. Works 100% good here on my SD plasma. Even with games and xbmc.

  • Nvidia Open GL driver error when Photoshop CC is open

New PC, bought predominantly for Photoshop use. Downloaded trial of Photoshop CC and it keeps closing with this message -
"Nvidia Open GL Driver detected a problem with the display driver and is unable to continue. Tha application must close. Error Code 3"
This has happened with Photoshop just being open, as well as when in use.
If I untick "use graphics processor", I have no problems. My use of Photoshop is fairly basic (processing and editing photographs from a Nikon D7100), so I don't know what I will miss if I don't use the graphics processor.
    Intel i7-3770 Quad Core (3.4ghz 8mb cache)
    16gb DDR3 1866 mhz
2GB Nvidia GeForce GTX660 graphics card
    Windows 7 professional 64 bit
I have updated the graphics card driver, which made no difference. Can anyone help with suggestions of why I'm getting the error, and what I can do about it please?
    Thank you
    Chris

Had to re-install windows and all drivers for other reasons, and having downloaded Photoshop CC again, I no longer have the problem.

  • Dv6809wm nvidia Ethernet Controller driver help me please.

My notebook is a dv6809wm. I am Korean, but also the This is South Korea.
After installing Windows 7, nvidia Ethernet Controller, driver can not find.
Windows xp, Vista, 7, installed it several times, nvidia Ethernet Controller driver can not find. Chipset nvidia 630a, installing, and even install sp37730, the Internet should not.
What should I do? You help me please.

This used to be a sticky post but should have your answers. Install the AMD chipset driver for the dv65zz and higher AMD models. This is a Vista driver and may have to be run in compatibility mode but will provide ethernet functionality:
    http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-Systems-and-Software/Windows-7-Upgrade-Guide-for-dv6...
It is a long post but the AMD chipset driver is near the top. I see you already tried SP37730 and it is not working for you so you may have to do a manual install by pointing the driver installer to the subfolder where sp37730 unzips, containing the ethernet and make it take the ethernet driver .inf file.
You may also want to try one of these drivers:
    http://www.win-raid.com/t15f37-NVIDIA-Optimized-nForce-Driverpacks-for-Vista-Win.html
Use the ones labelled:    3. "Special MCP65-67 nForce Driverpacks for Vista/Win7"
Post back if you need more help with this.

  • Nvidia (Quadro K2000) Driver isn't installed during OSD (Task Sequence succeeded) - HP Z620

    Hi everyone,
I have added a driverset (HP Z620) in SCCM for the first time using our internal procedure (Importing Drivers to SCCM, Create Driver package with specific category, apply driver package in TS using WMI to query for the model).
The Task Sequence succeeded, but the NVIDIA K2000 Graphics driver isn't installed (only HD Graphics 4000 driver).
Looking at the drivers in the Driver Package, this should normally apply since the driver is compatible with this specific GPU.
At the forums, I can see that some people have created a seperate package for the GPU driver installation using command line switches.. But looking at the environment at the customer, we have never done this and in the past, we have succesfully installed
the driver for this GPU before.
PS: The driver for the GPU in my new driver package (HP Z620) isn't the same as for previous models (HP Z220, Z230, Z600).
Could you please advise me what to do? Should I have added something in the driver sources before importing the driver to SCCM?
    Thanks in advance!
    Kind regards

    Hi
I m installing Nvidia (Quadro K2000) Driver during OSD (Task Sequence succeeded) - HP Z420
Remove the Graphics driver for NVIDIA from the current driver database
Added below task in the existing task sequence as invidual installation based on the Condition (WMI query)
    Command Line
    HP_Z420_Graphics_x64\Win64_332_50\setup.exe -s -k -clean -noeula
This will install the desired driver and related configurable components
    WMI Query
select * from win32_ComputerSystem where manufacturer like '%hewlett%' and model like '%z420%'
Currently I m looking out for the Errors codes needed to add to this task . Success codes 3010 and 0 already added

  • Temperature increase in nvidia tab w/ driver change

I have a MSI FX5900SP VTD128. I installed the msi drivers that came w/ the card. The information on temperature on the nvidia tab in display advanced properties was about normal 40-41 idle in windows and 56 on load. The thing is I changed the msi driver to a nvidia latest driver 53.03, but when looking at the same temperature tab it reads now 56 when idle. I dont know which information is correct or what is the problem, Iwould appreciate if someone can help!
    Thanks!

I have the same card. I used 53.03 at once so I do not know if there is a differens in temp but I did get 60 at idle and 85 under load. So i put on a Zalman ZM80C-HP which removed about 20 degrees which made me happy.
However that is an interesting issue. Perhaps if I get some time I will try the MSI driver to see if it shows a different temperature.
But surley there must be someone who has already done it?

NVIDIA MCP55 System Driver 9.16 will not install. Anyone know why?

Quote from: Kujis on 03-August-06, 12:53:12
    Hello!
I have same problem. I have tried to update it whit live-updata and for manually. When I install it, everything seems to goes okay, but after installing live-update shows that I still got v. 9.15.
I have allmost same mainboard than you, but ultra version. ( MSI nF570 ultra )
I have to ask, do you have had some problems while downloading? I have some problem in dual lan circuit. My computer shuts down if I download something in fast bit rate and do some browsing at the same time.
No, I'm not having the downloading problem.

Works fine at 1280X800 (with out without MDP DL DVI Adapter) - cannot get any higher resolution

    Hi ddickson01,
The MacBook Air 11 inch late-2010 model does support 2560 x 1600 resolution on an external display. See this specifications article for reference -

  • 10.4.10 will show external hard drive in Disk Utility (in turn, mount)

Here's the problem in a nutshell. When I'm running 10.4.10 my Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 (installed in an external enclosure) will not show up in Disk Utility (in turn also unable to mount). My DVD-RW burner will work, the enclosure is fine. When I boot off of the Mac OS X Install CD and run Disk Utility the drive and its partitions display. I did an archive and install and they were back in Mac OS X (10.4.7). - Rather than using Software Update, I decided to download the 10.4.10 Combo update manually and install (with the drive ejected and unplugged of course). Same issue once booting in Mac OS X 10.4.10...
Before I do an archive and install again, and revert to 10.4.9 indefinitely, is there anything I can try. I did googling, deleted some preference/cache files with no success.

This bug popped up after 10.4.9 was released and many folks (myself included) have experienced the same problem - after the install external hard drives, both FireWire and USB, are no longer accessible or visible.
In fact, I'm searching the discussion boards now to see if the 10.4.10 update fixed this. Apparently it has not.
Here are some other threads about this and 10.4.9 that might be of use to you:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=897541
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=892387
I finally reverted to 10.4.8, which perfectly recognizes my external drives, and will not update until I know this bug has been fixed. As far as I know, reverting is unfortunately the only way to fix this issue.:(

  • DIsk Utility will not recognize my drive to erase.

    Hello,
I am trying to erase my hard drive to install a new OS. I will be installing either OS 8.6 onto the 12 GIG ATA internal hard drive - the original hard drive.
I am using an OS 10.1 installer CD.
(I thought that DIsk Utility would be a better hard drive formatting utility than OS 8's drive setup utility.)
I first started up from the OS 10.1 installer CD and it first takes me through a few basic questions about the language (I chose English) and then a licencing question and I clicked agree. When it asks me which volume I would like to choose, both of my hard drives are shown but they are greyed-out (dimmed). When I hover over them with the mouse pointer, a small message appears to the left that says something like:
"This hard drive is dimmed because the CD installs all the languages"
This doesn't seem to make any sense. I was booted form the CD.
Why can I not use this installer to erase my hard drive?
This is a retail version of OSX with a white label. It came with two disks: OS9 and 10.1. The symptoms described above happened with the 10.1 disk. Next I will try OS 9. However I would like to know why my DIsk Utility on the OS 10.1 CD didn't show my drive as available. Any suggestions why the hard dirves were grayed out?
    Thanks

    Thanks Lau for you comments.
I need to install os8 because I need to run some old apps and I am using my os 9 for another computer I have.
By the way, the HFS+ file system was suuported from OS 8.1 and after and so that is not an issue. Good idea though.
And so I am back at my original question. It would appear that my OS X install disk doesn't like my blue and white G3's internal 12 GIG ATA drive and so I cannot format it with OSX Disk Utility. I would like to know why but for now I will just use OS 9 or OS8 drive setup. And so I have two choices: OS9 drive setup or OS8.5 Drive setup. Does it matter which I use? In other words is one better than the other? I will be later installing OS 8.6 onto this drive - and maybe OS 9 in the far future. I will try OS9's drive setup first.
Yes, and so this is my most immediate question at this point:
is there a difference between OS8.5 drive setup and OS9's Drive setup? (in terms or formatting a drive to install OS 8, 9 or even X maybe one day?) I will be using HFS+.
And then my second question is my original question which is why doesn't my OS 10.1.5 Disk Utility select my 12 GIG ATA drive? (its greyed out - dimmed?)
    Thanks

Why do you feel you need to do this? That is such a 'Windows thing' to do!
And secondly does RAM memory cards go bad
Very rarely, but nothing in life is guaranteed (except death and taxes)! If you purchased RAM from a reputable source like Crucial or OWC it will carry a lifetime warranty.
