Will only remember certain window sizes

Firefox 31 will only remember certain window sizes, only the page when the browser is first opened. Every page after that has to be enlarged. This always seems to be a problem with Firefox, why can't I have it remember my default window size?
Running Windows 8.1 Pro 64

I use Freemake Video Converter and this gives an option to deliver straight to I-Tunes. Vids appears under Films . So far for some reason I have managed to download lots of stuff from YouTube witout issue with the exception on 1 video from the band Within Temptation, however, a further 10 have downloaded perfectly from the same band. Can only assume there may be a corruption somewhere, although it was an Official Video by Vevo.

Firefox will not remember last window size

I am using Firefox 32.0.2 on a Windows 7 computer.
Starting yesterday when a new window opens it will not remember the window size. It always opens to a small window that takes up about 1/4 of the screen. It should remember the last window size used and open new windows to that size.
I have not changed anything on the computer since it last worked that I am aware of (it is a work computer so IT could have done something).
I have already done a reset and deleted and recreated localstore.rdf.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've just updated OS to 10.10.1 and Finder keeps trying to open and then closes every 2 seconds with the message Finder is not Available. If Safari is opened full window it immediately closes and will only work with window smaller than maximum.

IMac won't start in mac. Will only start in Windows, option key won't work to allow me to get to mac side. downloaded avast last week. Worried this could be the problem??

iMac was making a strange sound yesterday. I shutdown and restarted now it will only boot in windows vista. I've tried option key that doesn't work, I've tried command R no luck. I've left un-plugged, not sure what to do. I don't even get the white screen like it's trying to load, it goes directly to windows vista, once in windows I can't get anywhere to try and go back. I did download avast the other week, it seemed to be running fine until yesterday. UGH

If you are running OS X "Lion" or later, boot OS X Recovery by holding ⌘ and r (two fingers) while you start your Mac. For Snow Leopard, start your Mac while holding the c key with its original OS X Install DVD inserted in its optical drive.
At the Mac OS X Utilities screen, select Disk Utility. Select your startup volume (usually named "Macintosh HD") and click the Repair Disk button. Describe any errors it reports in red. If Disk Utility reports "The volume Macintosh HD appears to be OK" in green then you can be reasonably (though not completely) assured your hard disk is in good working order.
If you manage to boot OS X, uninstall Avast. Its effect on a Mac has progressed from complete and utter worthlessness to maliciousness.
Be sure to use its latest uninstaller, which will remove it completely.

My iphone 4 will only sync certain songs and album from my itunes, how can I fix this?

I have an iphone 4, and when I go to drag stuff to sync it to the phone it will only sync certain albums or songs, and not others. Mind you, these bands it will not sync now I have had on the phone in the past so I do not understand whats going on, I've tried redownloading Itunes, and factory setting my phone and none of which have seemed to work if someone can help that would be awesome!

i had the same problem and just figured it out.
plug in your iPhone and click on your phone under Devices in iTunes.
then, at the top, where it says "Summary, Info, Apps, Music, Movies, TV Shows, Photos" click Music
make sure the "Sync Music" box is checked along with "Entire music libary" and apply the changes.
mine wasnt checked and it only had 37 songs in my phone out of 927 that were on my iTunes.

Why will finder not remember the window size that I set it to?

Every time I open finder I have to drag it out to the size I want it. It will not remember the size I put it at. How do I get it to remember. MBA Mid-2011 with Lion installed 10.7.4.
If I restart it its back to a real small size again and with a 11" MBA that is small.

I don't think it's a Lion issue, as I have no such problems. But the way window positions work is a bit hard to grasp, as it can depend as much on how you get a particular window open as on the folder you're choosing to view.
If you can double-click your hard drive icon on the desktop and get the window position and view to stick, but after a restart it has forgotten that position and view when performing the same action, then you can try deleting the invisible .DS_Store file inside the relevant folder (in this case, at the root of the hard drive).

Prohibit resizing below a certain window size

I was wondering if anyone has some useful insights into the following problem:
I have a scene with a certain initial size. Resizing is allowed, however below certain dimensions the application becomes unusable as not everything can be displayed (Think of an image that should be displayed in a window that is smaller than the image).

Resizing the components to match the size is not an option. As the dimension properties of the stage are readonly I can only get notified when the size goes below the threshold, but can do nothing about it. The only other solution I can see is disabling resize and only allow the initial dimension (configurable) and fullscreen.

Firefox doesn't remember the window size

I recently upgraded my monitor and got a larger one. Now when I open FF it opens at a maximized window that doesn't fill the entire screen. So I'm forced to "minimize" it and "re-maximize" it. But when I close it does not remember the true maximized screen size.
I already tried clearing localstore.rdf and by resetting menus under Safe Mode, but neither option worked.

If Firefox is maximized then unmaximize to make the window smaller and close Firefox to save that setting.
After restarting you can maximize again.
Window sizes and positions are stored in [http://kb.mozillazine.org/localstore.rdf localstore.rdf] in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder].
Delete ''localstore.rdf'' or rename to '''localstore.rdf.sav''' in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder] to test if the file is corrupted.

Note:
Deleting the file [http://kb.mozillazine.org/localstore.rdf localstore.rdf] will reset the customizations of the toolbars to the defaults.

Then you can restore the customization by copying ''localstore.rdf.sav'' to ''localstore.rdf'' if it didn't work.

Mac will only restart in Windows via Bootcamp.......Help!!

Ok....My Mac has XP on BC 2.1. When I click the bottom right hand corner in Windows to restart in Mac it only restarts in Windows. Then When I'm in Mac and there is a software update, still, it only restarts in Mac OS. Last, when I go to system preferences, and Startup Disk, it still only will restarts in Windows. WHAT!?! It will however let me select Mac when I hold Option Key at boot then it Will boot into Mac. Any ideas why?

I would love to edit this post but I can't. I meant to say that it even restarts after an Apple Software Update in Windows. Basically anytime it restarts (even if I tell it not to) it is in Windows. The only exception is for when I hold option key, then I can get it into Mac. And my OS is 10.5.6 not 10.4.6.

Will Only PLay Certain Songs! PLEASE HELP!

For some reason, my ipod will only play the free songs that came on it when I recently downloaded itumes to my new comp. Why is this happening? Can I make it stop?

In iTunes > Edit > Preferences > iPod > Music tab, what do you have checked?
(iPod must be plugged into PC to see the iPod options)

Firefox will not remember the window position

I have tried all the suggestions including deleting the rft file and opening in safe mode and redoing settings. I cannot make this browser remember the position I want it in.

I have a similar problem, which could even be related.
I am busy using FF 4.0 b2, (helping with testing), in normal mode it suddenly stopped displaying its windows. I can open a new FF window without any success.
I am using FF for Mac.
The only time it will display its windows is in Safe Mode.
Obviously I can't add extensions to help since there are almost no extensions compatible with FF 4.0 b2

HP Envy4500 Printer. Will only print certain fonts.

Windows 2007
I cannot get the printer to print on common fonts such as aerial or times new roman.
Is there a way to change this or is there a limited number of fonts that work on this printer?

I wonder, does this issue occur when you copy? I have a feeling the issue is stemming form the computer and not a limitation of the printer. I would like to recommend you remove the driver from the Printer Server Properties and re-add it. Please use the instructions below.
1. In the ‘Devices and Printers’ folder
2. Choose ‘Print server properties’.
Win XP – With no printer selected, click ‘File’ then ‘Server Properties’.
Windows Vista – With no printer selected, press ‘Alt’ then click ‘File’ then ‘Server Properties’.
Windows 7/8 and 8.1 – Select any printer in the ‘Devices and Printers’ folder and click ‘Print Server properties’ above.
3. Click on the ‘Drivers’ tab at the top of ‘Print server properties’ window
4. Choose the printer you want to uninstall and click ‘Remove’
5. Choose 'Remove driver only'
6. The next screen will give a warning, letting you know that deleting the driver package will remove it from the system. Click ‘Yes’ to say that you are sure you want to do this.
If documents are stuck in the print spooler, you may see an error, cancel any documents pending in the print queue, or try restarting the print spooler, then try to remove the driver from ‘Print server properties’ again. If it still won’t remove the package, restarting the computer and the printer should resolve this ‘in use’ error and allow the driver to be removed.
After the driver is removed, open Start > All Programs > HP folder > Printer folder > HP Setup and Software. If you do not see HP Setup and Software, click on the printer icon and the Setup and Software will open. Here is an image of the screen we are looking for.
Click on 'Connect a new Printer' and follow the on screen instructions.

Projects will not open / Certain windows crash

1. I cannot open old project files on FCP off of an external drive - or after moving them to my main drive. This came to attention trying to go in and recut an old film that I hadn't touched in over a year (and after a few upgrades).
Other projects hadn't had problems after upgrading in the past.
I've tried:
-Tricking the file by offlining footage.
-Offlining sequences.
-Trashing preferences (in several applications)
-upgrading software
-trying various ideas through FCP discussion threads.
It's getting maddening. I'm also SCARED because I've got a feature
that is mirrored on two seperate drives (2 Lacie 500G) for backup. This "old"
project exists on one of these LaCies and I'm scared now to open up
the backup thinking I'll lose 400Gs worth of info.
2. After starting to upgrade some software, I began having Finder
Window crashing problems. They came along with after trying to open my external drive, the finder will default to my user window then crash the window. Also when trying to arrange the movie window in "list" format, it closes the window.
As I mentioned, these problems may be the same but I'm not sure - The
FCP was crashing on opening that old file before I tried upgrading any
software.

If you only have one drive in your G5, it's easiest done by buying another drive to create a new startup disk with.
1. Install OS X. (I'd buy Tiger if I were you at this point just for this purpose FCP 5 on Panther Is Fine, but you don't want to be running QT 7 in the mix unless you're running Tiger) If you stay in Panther, then don't go past QT 6.0.4
2. Run Software Update to get to the latest software.
3. Install FCP Studio apps.
4. Run Software Update to get to the latest software again...
