Will oops concept reduces the allocation space?

Hi,
As we know SAP allocates memory for a program by considering it as transaction.
If i develop my program by using some local classes for a set of code, will this reduce the memory usage of this program?

• How can I reduce the storage needs for iMovie events (raw video)

Good news - After borrowing an 8mm analog camcorder (mine died years ago) and an older digital camcorder (mine doesn't support A/V in) I have been able to set up a "bridge" to convert our old 8mm home videos to digital and import them to iMovie.
Bad news - At 13GB per 8mm tape, plus the Mini DV tapes we also have, getting it all in the computer with room to grow is going to require at least 500GB of space, which I don't have. On hand are 120GB internal (MacBook), 120GB external (Time Machine) and 40GB portable.
After my experience with the 8mm analog camcorder (it died, couldn't buy them anymore, tapes useless) I want to get everything digital in a standard format with backup.
1) Is there any way to reduce the storage space required for the raw video (Events) without impacting image quality (already mediocre in the tapes converted from analog)?
2) What's the best way to squeeze an hour of video down to fit on a DVD but still leave the video available for re-import/editing in the future? I'd likely mail the DVDs to my parents house or something to keep them separate.
Thanks!

Hi
You can also use
Yousendit (google it)
where You can send 200Mb movies
- You download Your movie to them
- get an Internet address back ( url - I think it's called )
- this You copy and send in Your e-mail to those that want's Your movie
- and now they can get it from same address
If You pay You can send up to 2Gb (if I remember right)
BUT it will take time ! In most of my cases - burn it onto a DVD and send by snail-mail most often are a better solution.

• Allocated space without DBA_DATA_FILES

Hello good folks,
I'm building a process that will check the space of the tablespaces and send feedback. So my question is this : how can I have the allocated space of a tablespace without using dba_data_files?
My user account doesn't have access to dba_data_files and will not have select permission granted any time soon.
So how can I circumvent this restriction?
Thanks everyone,
Frank

Helio : I don't see how creating a table would help my situation. I'm not planning on having access to that view.
Paul : I don't want to enter in too many details, but basically, the DBA departments wants us to monitor the tablespace usage without giving us the tools to do it so they can bash my department for blowing quotas. They give us reports indicating the allocated space, which is how I know my information is higher than supposed.
I want to create a process that will check daily and give us feedback so we can act on it if need be.
I could always just check the Free space, but I would prefer having a complete solution that includes the allocated space.
Asking to the DBA for rights on the views is always possible, but I would rather do without if it's possible.
Eduardo : I'm beginning to think that this may well be the final answer to this question, meaning there is no solution without asking for help. Damn things can be complicated for no just reason sometimes.

• How to reduce the size of exising tablespace?

Hi,
I assigned 2GB dbsize to a tablespace.
Now I would like to reduce the table space to 1GB.
The tablespace used is 60MB.
When I try to reduce the size to 1GB its showing a message as follows.
"ORA-03297: file contains used data beyond requested RESIZE value".
Even I truncated all the data from all tables to which this table space is allocated. However, its not allowing me to resize it.
How can I do this? Is there any other way to do this?
Thank you,
Regards,
Gowtham Sen.

You may not be able to reduce the size of your datafile just by truncating tables. It does not matter if it is 9i or 10g. TRUNCATE just resets the high watermark of your tables, it leaves the first extent in place. So if you have tables whose first extents reside in the last part of a datafile you cannot resize it below that level.
See this:
SQL> create tablespace test2 datafile size 10m autoextend off;
Tablespace created.
SQL> create table t1 tablespace test2 as select * from all_objects;
Table created.

Hi,
There is no specific way to reduce space, you need to understand data in you system and purge unnecessary data from db and unnecessary logs from filesystem.
Also checking fragementation in database and then removing unnecessary will help you in gaining some space:-

• Can we reduce the size of the disk having the Log files for a Dag Database

There is an issue with disk space filling up for 4 databases part of the same DAG, each having 1 non lagged passive copy.
The Disks containing the log files are from the VSphere Storage. The Disk size was temporarily expanded to avoid any outages.
There is a full backup running currently, which is expected to clear the transaction logs on completion and that should be reducing the disk space utilized.
The storage guys want to know whether they can reclaim the temporarily expanded disk size. i.e reduce the disk space from the storage containing Log Files without affecting anything.
I couldn't find any documentation on this specific requirement, and want to confirm

I dont see why not. Once the logs are cleared, Exchange doesnt care.

• Reports 6i: Unable to reduce the spacing between records

Hello all,
We have a report that displays tons of records in several layers of grouping. I need to reduce the (padding) space between the fields and the edge of the repeating frame they are in (in the layout model) so the total number of pages are reduced in the output report. I have the confine mode on (lock icon closed) so as to keep things in proper grouping (like a field cannot come out of its enclosing frame). The problem I have is, when moving fields near to the edge of the enclosing frame, the report would not let me move it to the edge of the enclosing frame. It would keep a (padding) distance between the field and the edge and would not move any closer. Strangely, in some of the other rdfs we have, I could move the enclosed field to completely near the edge of enclosing frame while in confine mode. I noticed no difference in the properties between the two rdfs. I also tried Tools-->Preferences-->Wizards Horizontal/Vertical Gap properties but to no avail. Please note that this problem exists for both repeating and non-repeating frames.
Thanks in advance,
Srinivas

Please try View->Snap to Grid,Unselected this property. Then test if this problem is resolved.
