Will Orginal IPHONE work in Japan?

My Husband is in Japan and currently uses softbank as his carrier.
I plan to give my original iPhone to him when I leave the US on vacation to see him. Will Softbank be able to activate my old iPhone for him?

Only 3G phones work in Japan and Korea so your old iphone wont work.
Depending where you live, your phone may be locked to your original carrier as well.

Will your iPhone work with Straight Talk?

In order for your Straight Talk service to work with an iPhone, you would have to Jailbreak your iPhone (Even if it's unlocked) if you use an AT&T based SIM from Straight Talk, or you could use a T-Mobile based SIM from Straight Talk and it would work fine. Straight Talk is an MVNO therefore when the AT&T based SIM is inserted into the iPhone, it defaults to the AT&T profile, and the Cellular Data Settings option does NOT show up. You have to use a T-Mobile based SIM because they have no default profile for the iPhone because they do not carry the device.

  • Will my iphone work in france

I will be in Paris and the south of France. Will my iPhone 4s work - do I need an adaptor??

        Hello richjags.
We definitely want to make sure your son is able to use his phone. Do you know if he has the iphone 4 or 4S? If he has the iPhone 4, this would not be a global device, but would be able to be used via WiFi. If he has the 4S, we can activate his preinstalled global SIM card on your account so he can use his phone in France. I am about to start a new job.  I was told they have a blackberry email server.  Will I beable to recieve and create email using my work email address?

You would need to check with the admin of the BES if their version supports the iphone.

  • Will the iPhone work with the Bose SoundDock Digital Music System?

I want to get one of the new Bose SoundDocks but I'm not sure if it will work with the iPhone. I know it works with the iPod Touch but I know it's a little thinner than the iPhone. Has anyone tried using the iPhone with one of these?

There isn't an adaptor that fits the iPhone but it works flawlessly with the iPhone. In fact, it works better with the iPhone than it does with the new Classic. The new Bose SoundDock has a nifty little remote that allows you to scan foward/backward through your playlists - this functionality works on the iPhone but not on a Classic iPod.

  • Would iphone work in Japan and S. Korea in April?

    Hey, guys
Some friends have asked me if I could buy them iphones since it will be finally released in both countries starting April. I've also read some articles about that.
But I am wondering if iphones in the states could be used in those countries? I've only been told about the release but nothing about compatibility.
Anyone got any info on the issue? Do my friends have to buy the phones released in their countries??

Not sure on whether they will function, but one thing to note is that the warranty for the phone only applies in the country of purchase.
So if you buy the phones in the States and they have issues in Japan/South Korea, they won't be able to take advantage of the warranty.

  • Will an iPhone work?

    Hi,
I have to sign up for a new cell phone contract in about a month. I am an American and I live in Germany. We do not know how much longer we will be living in Germany, but for now at least until next January. T-Mobile has an iPhone promotion going on. Since I have to sign up for a new contract I thought I might change phones. I would like to get an new iPhone. My concern is I want to use the iPhone I bought in Germany in the U.S. when I move back but not have to use the German service provider. I would like to deactivate the German service and sign up with a U.S. iPhone service provider, but be able to keep the same phone I bought in Germany. I do not want to have to buy a new iPhone.
    Is this possible?
    Thanks

You will need to buy a new phone when you come back to the US. The German iPhone is carrier locked to T-Mobile and the US iPhone is carrier locked to ATT.

  • Will US Skype # work in Japan?

Hello - I am traveling to Japan next week and trying to make it easy for friends in the US to reach me.  If I purchase a US Skype # (NYC specifically) for $18/mos, will my US friends be able to reach me on it when I'm in Japan, or do I need to buy a Japan Skype #?

Unfortunately, no. Japan has a network all their own. I believe they have booths in the airports that allow you to rent devices.

  • Will my iphone work in a power-out after a hurricane

I'm, er, technologically challenged, so forgive a dumb question.

Sorry to say but your cell phone (any brand network and/or frequncy cdma/gsm etc,....) is essentially just a short range radio transmitter/receiver device.
Mobile towers and cables are needed to get calls to and from you.
These ALL need a power source and in hurricane conditions the towers and any overhead cables are very susceptible to damage and resultant loss/interruption of your service.
SAT phones DO EXIST they remain very bulky are power hungry and have truly outrageous call charges.
A SAT phone to SAT phone call is $15.00 a minute with SAT phone to landline around $3.00 an minute!
Further these are actually more sensitive to weather conditions and will also loose service in electric storms !
SAT phones are normally hired and are used by journalists adventurers (such as round the world yacht sailors) scientists at the Poles, mineral exploration teams and global shipping lines.
They are just not suitable as a primary and daily telephone service for most people.

  • Will an iphone bought in Korea work in America?

I bought my iphone in South Korea and used it with Korea's Show cell phone company. Since I no longer live their I have brought my iphone back with me to America. Will the iphone work with At&t?

No the iphone bought in South Korea is locked to KTF "Show" and can not be unlocked.
    Vice Versa
iphone bought in U.S.A can't be unlocked to be used with KTF in Korea. However, I have talked to my uncle, and he told me that there is a way that you can, but they will have to check the frequency and that they can do it and have it work both ways. However, they will have to charge you for them to do it.

  • Will my iHome work with the iPhone?

I have an iHome from the summer i think around 2 years ago. Both my ipod mini and my old black video ipod (not the classic, the video) work with it but I was wondering, will the iPhone?
Another thing, I have Logitech mm50 black iPod speakers that went with my video (until someone broke into my car and stole the ipod!!). Will my iPhone work with those? I know that the iPhone plays music w/o headphones but I like to blast music loud @ parties.
So, please let me know if the iHome and the speakers will work with iPhone, b/c i rly dont want to have to buy a new iHome or speakers!

    ok thanks so much
do you know if the iPhone will work with ipod speakers meant for the old black ipod video? I have speakers like that from Logitech...they're mobile so they're good on the road...will it work the same way like with the iPhone? like, if i put the iPhone in airplane mode, will it more ok? :\

  • Will iphone work with OS 10.3.9 and a standard USB

I have an old Titanium G4 power book using OS 10.3.9. and standard USB port, has anyone been able to connect thier iphone with a similar system?
I saw on apple's site that you need OS 10.4.10 and a usb2, but I see some users have older computers with older OS. Will the iphone work with an older system?
I want an iphone with out buying a new computer.
    Thanks

    Hey 111wonderer,
The iPhone does require Mac OS 10.4.10
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305703
USB2 is required but the USB hardware is forward compatible from USB 1 to 2. The syncing will be much slower with USB 1 though.

  • Using a US iPhone 3GS in Japan?

I'm headed to Tokyo in a few days and even now I cannot seem to get a straight answer though I've been looking for a quite a while.
Will my iPhone work properly in Japan, without any modifications? Or no? If not, it's no big deal, I just need to know.
I've read about renting Softbank sim cards or renting a whole handset itself in the airports and such, but I'm only going to be there for a week, so if my iPhone will work as it is while I'm there I'd like to avoid any unnecessary expenditures.
    Thanks!

Yes, it will work in Japan. You must make sure you have 3G turned on to work, however. I use it all the time while in Japan.
Note that you will be ROAMING, and AT&T roaming data charges are very expensive. You can turn off data roaming by going to Settings->General->Network, and turning Data Roaming and Cellular Data to "OFF" (on iOS4). Use WiFi if you need to access email.
You can get data plans for roaming through your AT&T account to cover your trip, but they are not cheap, either. Approx $200 for 200mb of data.
