Will OS X Lion new "gestures" work on iMac's magic mouse?

Seeing the new iPhone/iPad features bult into the Lion OS, I am curious about how the new gestures would work with an iMac. Just need to verify the magic mouse would be able to work exactly like the track pad...

Like the rest of us you will find out when it is released.  We cannot speculate about Lion. All public information released by Apple is here.

I have a mid year 2007 24 inch iMac and will be purchasing a new 27 inch Retina iMac, what is the easiest way to transfer the data and files from my old machine to the new one?

    Following up on this thread,
I have a new iMac on the way and my current is from 2008, never had a problem but I am sure there are internal issues that I would prefer not to transfer.
I have no issues other then the slowness in certain programs and that is the main reason to buy a new one.
Programs like numbers and pages seem to take a longer time to open after I update to Yosemite.
I only use 272GB of 500 GB, my memory is 4GB and I am upgrading to 8Gb and bought the 4.0 processor.
    Question:
Is there a way to manually transfer items or would that be a waste of time in that if there are issues they could be anywhere and would transfer anyway?

  • OSX Lion NEW Gestures not working on early 2008 Macbook

I upgraded to OSX Lion on my Macbook last week and have been trying to figure out why the new tap and 3 finger gestures don't work, there are no compatibility warnings on the apple website, unless they're in the small print!!!!! Is anyone else having the same problems?

Your model macbook doesn't have the glass multi-touch trackpad which is necessary for the new gestures.

  • Will Apple's USB-Ethernet Adapter Work on iMac

One of the pins in the ethernet port of my iMac were bent. The second I attempted to bring the pin up, it broke. So I haven't been able to use ethernet for over a year.
Will the Apple USB Ethernet Adapter work on my Late 2006 2Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo iMac? It is loaded with Leopard 10.5.5. I've read these adapters would only work for MBAir but will it work on my iMac?
I'm not looking to get back Gigabyte Ethernet capability, I generally want to use ethernet again.

I do have a Base Station the current base station.
All my stuff except my iMac & iBook is packed deep in a storage facility since I'm on a move to someplace else. Meanwhile I'm staying in a place that doesn't have Wi-FI but offers wired ethernet connection.
I have my iBook but I want to use my iMac again & that adapter is all I need to get it connected. I just want to know if it would work since it's intent is for the MacBook Air.

  • Why did Lion 10.7.3 mess up my magic mouse on my macbook pro 2011?

My mouse was working fine and as soon as I updated to 10.7.3 my magic mouse went wacky!  Swipes don't work now. I will be move my mouse to the other side of the screen and it jumps all over the place.  And randomly clicks on items when I havnt pushed the mouse buttons.  I'm glad I still have the track pad on the macbook pro. But for video editing it just isn't easy to use like the mouse.   I reeeeaaallly hope they fix this soon.  Or if anyone out there knows how to fix it pleeeease share with me.
Im using a macbook pro with lion os x 10.7.3 and .... well  I was using a magic mouse connected via blue tooth.. but its almost impossible now.
    Thanks

I am having the same challenge, what I have found to be a temporary fix is to disconnet the magic mouse and the reconnect using the BlueTooth Preference in system preferences.
I am also am having connectivity issues with my Plantronic Voyager Pro and my Ecamm BT-1 all are inconsistant now and intermittent.
So far no one seems to have an answer.  Maybe if someone from Apple is monitoring this forum, they can add some imput for us?

  • 5k retina display - scroll not working with Safari (both magic mouse and trackpad)

    Hi,
suddenly my trackpad and magic mouse stopped working with scrolling (most annoying one) and other gestures.
I recently bought the iMAC 5K retina display and was not expecting this by any means...
I have a ton of tabs open on safari and simply "refuse" to try the old windows way of rebooting the machine...
I have to use the arrow keys to scroll down... this is insane
could you please advise? am I missing something?
    many thanks

Just found out the reason I couldn't get the two to play nicely. I had connected my keyboard and trackpad using a "Magic Wand" which looked great. Unfortunately the magic wand had a connecting piece to fill in the gap between the two pieces and this was preventing the little pads underneath the trackpad clicking. So I can only guess that because the trackpad couldn't click it thought it was stuck and therefore also locked up the mouse. I've remove the connector and both pieces work perfectly together!

  • Will a Mountain Lion install USB work with putting Mac OS on a brand new hard drive?

My MacBook Pro's hard drive has crapped out and I'm planning on purchasing a new hard drive for it.  However, this new hard drive will be completely clean and no remnants of Mac OS will be on it when I receive it.  But before my hard drains crapped out, I made a Mountain Lion install USB like the one made here: http://osxdaily.com/2012/02/17/make-bootable-os-x-10-8-mountain-lion-usb-install -drive/ .  If I install this new hard drive into my MacBook Pro, turn the computer on, and hold down the Option key, will I then be able to install Mac OS with this USB drive?  If not, please explain the steps that I need to take in order to successfully install Mac OS onto a brand new hard drive.
P.S. I do not have the install disc from when I bought my computer.

You can use the USB drive you created previously to install OS X in your new hard disk. Also, you can use Internet Recovery, if you want to > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4718
After installing the hard disk and starting from the USB drive, follow the steps to reinstall OS X. If there isn't any partition on the hard disk, close the installer and open Disk Utility.
Then, choose the hard disk at the top of the sidebar, go to Erase tab and erase the disk. After erasing the disk, close Disk Utility and reinstall OS X

  • Magic mouse no longer works after Lion upgrade

After upgrading to Lion my magic mouse failed to work. I plugged in an older USB mouse and thankfully it does work. It appears the System Preference for Blue Tooth no longer has my machine name in it, instead it has "Name not available" and the "On" check box will not stay checked when I reopen the preference. The syncing process "Set Up New Device..." doesn't seem to work either, it searches but doesn't find eventually the flashing LED on the mouse goes out.
I've tried to solve this but failed. I believe its something wrong with the installation of Lion on my iMac because I installed Lion on my lap top and the magic mouse WILL sync with it.
What do you suggest I do to remedy this situation?

Solved it myself. Re installed Lion.
    Thanks Radio for your help

  • Trouble with magic mouse under lion

I upmy system to lion last week and since then my magic mouse is working rong, when I whant to scroll down I have to scroll up on my mouse.
and a new bug, the system is telling me all the time where I am  You ca see
the black rectangle in the center. Who can I close it??

I still can't get my Mighty Mouse to work in Bootcamp either. I went through everything that I've seen suggested online. When I go to the Apple Magic Mouse Properties and check "Drivers for keyboard, mice, etc." and click Apply, I get "Access is denied." I'm using Windows XP. Curiously, after going through the Bluetooth Devices control panel and adding the Apple Magic Mouse, it appears briefly noting that it has a passkey, and then immediately changes it to "No passkey."

  • Lion OSX - Magic Mouse & Launchpad

    Hey Guys,
So I seen a video on youtube about Apple introducing the Lion OSX but in the video it shows that you can use your magic mouse to launch launchpad and you can do all types of different gestures. I noticed after I installed lion that none of these gestures is available or work. My trackpad is able to launch launchpad but not my magic mouse. Am I'm missing something?

Well, non of the gestures? After I installed Lion a could use the gesture to enter Mission Control. The zoom gesture is working fine with my Magic Mouse. I am also able to sweep between desktops (swipe with two fingers).
I'm not able to enter Launchpad and i can't pinchzoom with my Magic Mouse. I guess I'll need a trackpad for that.
    Succes!

  • PNY PC3-12800 DDR3 memory work in iMac 27-inch late 2013?

Will PNY PC3-12800 DDR3 memory work in iMac 27-inch late 2013? I am setting up a new iMac and also wondered if the iMac will read 24 GB memory. Meaning the original 4X2 and an added 8x2 = 24GB. Any advice on these two questions is appreciated.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
It should work without any problem, always that it meets these specifications > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5908
Your Late 2013 iMac supports up to 32 GB of RAM, so you can use 24 GB of RAM without any issue. Also, you will take advantage of Dual Channel, that improves the RAM performance

  • Installed new batteries in my magic mouse. It tracks well but does not click.

MacBook Pro indicated that the batteries in the magic mouse needed to be replaced. New batteries were installed in the magic mouse. The pointer function works well, but the click function no longer works.

Hey in Sweden. I believe before you can install a new system on your new hd you will need to format it using Disk Utilities. You should be able to access the Disk Utilities program from the menu bar at the top of the screen. Format as Mac OS Extended (Journaled). You should now be able to install to your hearts content.

  • Magic Mouse worked for over a year, now no scroll no right click

All of a sudden, in my 15" powerbook, no new software installed (only Software Updates and Flash update), all the Systems Preferences rechecked, no USBOverdrive. Tried all the suggestions in various communities/ Google, no change. Seems it's a problem shared by many.
Strangely enough, with my iMac 20" Magic Mouse works perfectly. Has anyone found a fix?

if you have had a few replacement HH3s and still the same problem then it is unlikely all of the HHs have the exact same fault so maybe you need to look nearer to home in that there is something causing interference to your wifi signal
have you tried moving the router to a different location to see if that makes any difference?

  • Magic Mouse will not scroll

Lion 10.7.5 on MacBook 13 inch. The mouse has started doing weird things. The cursor moves around the screen fine but I can not scroll. I think this happened with the last Lion upgrade. Strangely after sleeping all night, it started scrolling for a few seconds then stopped. I can move up and down if I click and hold on the little bar on the right of the screen. The trackpad does the same thing so it isn't the mouse. Do I need to restore the OS? If so how do I do that? I do have a flashdrive with Instillation software on it that I made when I put Lion on. The mouse has fresh batteries in it. If either thinks they are copying something they will move the screen. I totally confused.

Apply the Magic Mouse updates to gain the scrolling functions under Leopard.
