Will OS X Mavericks run on my new Macbook Pro?

[EDIT] Duplicate post - please see https://discussions.apple.com/message/22216397#22216397
Hi,
I'm planning to buy a 2.9 GHz dual-core i7 MacBook Pro this week, with OS X Mountain Lion pre-installed.
Can anyone please advise if they would foresee any issue upgrading to OS X Mavericks when it becomes available?
I already have a 2008 MacBook which cannot be upgraded later than Snow Leopard, so I want to avoid being limited again.
Any advice is much appreciated, thank you.

Hello Ecomm, and Welcome to Apple's Support page!
Yes OSX Maverick WILL RUN on your Macbook Pro. It will probably NOT run on the older White Plastic Model Macbooks, but OSX Moutain Lion Will! (on specific models)
I got my Macbook Pro in December (of 2012) and I am posotive OSX Maverick will run on the new Macs with OSX Moutain Lion or Lion installed.

  • Which 4K TV can I use that will be best used attached to my new macbook pro 15 Retina

I would like to hook up a 4K TV to my new macbook pro 15 retina...
I am not young and I prefer a nice large screen (less than 40") so I can switch from watching TV to using the computer.
I went to the local Future Shop and I got a whole lot of talk.
    I need better advice.
I want to know which one is best and how to hook it up to my macbook.(what cables do I use etc)
I want to retain that retina look on the TV screen.
    HELP!

  • FCP 5 not running smoothly on new Macbook Pro

Hoping there's a simple answer for this problem: Just got a macbook pro (2.16 GHz Intel Core Duo / GB DDR2 SDRAM) and am importing projects originally created on my G5. As soon as I play a sequence that has the smallest of rendered effects- repo, dissolve, etc.- it stops with the "frames dropped dring playback" window. Do I need to blow away and re-render them on the macbook pro? Does FCP automatically recognise the new intel chip or does it need to be instructed to do so?
    Any info would be helpful....
Macbook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.7)
Macbook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

Are you running FCP 5.1 or just 5.0.X? 5.1 is the universal application designed to run on either the new macs or the G5's.
Also where is your media stored? On the internal drive, over a network (what type of connection), firewire 400 or 800 dirve?
What type of footage are you editing and are your sequence settings set correctly?
A little more info would help people to give you some direction.
    Welcome to the forums.

  • Will final cut studio run on the 1799$ macbook pro 15 i7?

ive been trying to install final cut studio 5, but it keeps saying my computer doesnt have the hardware required.... its the macbook pro 15 inch i7. heres a link to the exact one i bought. http://www.amazon.com/Apple-MacBook-MC721LL-15-4-Inch-Laptop/dp/tech-data/B000BN HM0C/ref=de_a_smtd

    Hi
The price of the Macbook Pro has no bearing on what the machine can do.
The specs of that machine (model number MC721LL/A) is a 2011 Macbook Pro 15". Specs can be found here.
But, from what I can see - yes, it can run FCS 5. (Tech Specs can be found here)

  • I erased my new macbook pro 2013 retina. now to reinstall os I have problem

3 weeks ago I bought a new brand macbook pro 2013 retina; but  I erased the whole hard with the intention of making my mac look just like the 1st day. I thought starting it up again is as easy an iPhone. ( you know, when you erase an iPhone you don't have to download ios again). but then I found out it's not that easy. I tried every possible way to reinstall mavericks like building a bootable flash drive using terminal, diskmakerX, etc. but no luck; I was desperate so talked to developer od the diskmakerX app and he told me the only way for me is to redownload mavericks directly form my new macbook pro; I tried it too, but since here in my country, Iran, internet speed is really slow besides that the country IP is in usa sanctions, downloading a huge file like mavericks which is about 5.3 GB was not an easy task; anyway, everytime I started the downloading it disconnected after a while and I had to click to download  again after a few times doing so now when I try to start downloading get this error :"a server with the specified hostnamecould not be found" or "could not find installation information for this machine"
now my newly bought macbook pro is completely useless
I would really really appreciate it if anyone could help me with this friggin' issue; it is driving me crazy
Thank you in advance for your time and energy and GOD bless you

well I have a mb Air, is it ok?
No.  It has to be the same MBP model as yours.
To clone, you attach an external HDD to a MBP and open DISK UTILITY>RESTORE and fill the appropriate fields with the host MBP and the external HDD.  Click on Restore and then the data with the OSX will be copied to the external HDD.
Then attach the HDD to the recipient MBP (yours) and boot the MBP with the OPTION key held down.  The external HDD will appear, select it and boot the MBP.  Again select DISK UTILITY>RESTORE.  Select the external HDD as the Source and the MBP as the Destination and click on Restore.  The data with the OSX will be copied on to your MBP from the external HDD.  It then should be functional.
    Ciao.

  • Transfering iwork 09 to new macbook pro??

    Good morning all,
I am purchasing a new macbook pro and wanted to know if it possible to transfer my iwork09 software to my new macbook pro? I am currently using a macbook and OSX 10.6.2

I am wanting to sell my current macbook after I buy a new macbook pro and keep hold of the single licence of iwork I have purchased last year as a download from apple.com.
Keep in mind that you should remove iWork from the MacBook you're selling if you aren't including the original disks. Preferably, wipe the machine clean and reinstall the system from the gray disk that came with the MacBook, then include that gray disk when you sell the machine.
So you think Migration assistant will transfer the software over to my new macbook pro?
It should, but you could also reinstall from your original iWork disk instead.

  • Supported RAM in the new MacBook Pro

On Black Friday last year I purchased 8gb of RAM for the current MacBook Pro. Will this RAM be supported in my new MacBook Pro that I ordered right after the refresh Thursday?

You are best off to buy the specified new Ram modules 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM.
Mac is finicky about RAM. Yes you could install your old RAM but I suspect out of nowhere in a week you will be wondering why all of a sudden you have a Kernel Panic. Just buy the correct RAM.
Send along the old RAM (1067 MHz DDR3) with your old MBP when you sell it.

  • Is there a compact flash and SDXC card reader with USB3 and or thunderbolt connections that will work with new MacBook Pro retina laptops running OSX Mavericks please?

Is there a compact flash and SDXC card reader with USB3 and or thunderbolt connections that will work with new MacBook Pro retina laptops running OSX Mavericks please?

Yes, I too had this problem.
I was issued an update from Apple for a new version software as well as a new version of Lightrooom and now it shows up on the desktop and in finder as it should.
MacBook Pro Retina running 10.8.2 (12C54)
    Lightroom running 4.1
    Hope that helps.

  • I have a new Macbook Pro running Mavericks and safari consistently freezes. It takes several 'return/enter' presses to get to the page I requested. I have seen other comments and replies on how to fix (clear cache, clear extensions/plug-ins), to no avail.

I have a new macbook pro running mavericks and only using Safari as my browser.  75% of my url requests are 'hung up' and freeze.  I have seen other posts and have tried to clear cache, reset safari, remove extensions, but to no avail.
    Any recommendations?

If it works in a new user account, try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account.  Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up after waiting 10 seconds. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

  • I am looking for a webcam that will plugin and work on my new MacBook Pro running Yosemite?

Just got my new MacBook pro and wanted to plug in my external Logitec Pro 4000 webcam...but it does not appear on any options to use.
So I guess its time to upgrade it... but I can't find ANYWHERE what webcams will plug and play on the MacBook Pro (3/2015 model) running the latest version of Yosemite (10.10.2)
I would LOVE to not have to buy a new camera...but i can't seem to find any other solution.  So ideas?
    Gary

It should plug into one of your USB ports.
If you want a newer external camera, some compatible ones are listed in http://www.mac-compatible-web-cam.com/

  • Old Mac running Mountain Lion 'sees' Canon IP5000, new MacBook pro will not. No driver available from canon. Is there a way of transfering whatever is working from old mac to new?

I have two older macs running Mountain Lion that have been upgraded over the years from Leopard. They have continued to be able to print to a Canon IP5000 and use a driver that is fully functional. On the new MacBook Pro, the printer is found, but no driver is available for Mountain Lion from apple or Canon. Is there a way of getting the driver info from the old mac so that it will work on the new one?

Sorry, it says "New Event," not "New Entry." My bad.
