Will OWB 9.0.3 work in oracle 10gR2

Hi,
Currently we are using OWB 9.0.3 and Oracle 9.2R2. We are planing to migrate to Oracle 10gR2 in a phased maner. As a first step we plan to migrate only the DB from 9.2 to 10g and keep using OWB 9.0.3 untill the DB is stabilised.
Will OWB 9.0.3 work with oracle 10g in design time and run time environment.?

We have the following situation:
Oracle Forms6i/Reports6i client server application against an Oracle 8i cost-based database. we want to migrate this application
step 1:
Migrate the database to 10gr2, but do not touch the client application
Go live
step 2:
Migrate the development environment to 6i webforms.
Production environment stays client server.
With this construction we can still create new patches/functionality.
step 3:
Migrate to Forms10gR2 (and reports)
I know Forms 6i is not supported anymore.
My question is on step 1.
When I read NOTE: 338513.1 entitled "Is Forms/Reports 6i Certified To Work Against Oracle Server 10g Rel 1, Rel 2 or 11g?" carefully
it says that Forms 6i is not certified against 10gR2.
On OTN I read several posts that this works ok (assuming you do not use the wrong character set).
I also read on OTN that patch 18 (which is only supported for EBS customers) is certified against 10gR2.
The questions:
- Is Oracle Forms patch 18 certified against an Oracle 10gR2 database? (or only for EBS)
- Is there anybody out there that can confirm that Oracle Forms 6i C/S works against Oracle 10gR2

I read this as follows:
Patch 18 was certified agains a 10g database in a webforms environment.
No client server mentioned and Server 10g , so no 10gR2!
I'm I right?

Then I would need to read that documentation.
Then I would need to write a forum post that interprets what I think I learned from that documentation.

Put max size of pics you want to have in outgoing MMS
Save all and start sending MMS from fMMS menu.
It is very important to put correct setting in new APN and be sure if there is proxy needed in your operator.

RH Linux VIP configuration not working for Oracle 10g RAC installation

Hi all,
I am trying to setup my test cluster on Oracle 10gR2 and Red Hat Linux 4. I have the public and private networks working fine and setup. However, after I setup the two VIP addresses, I cannot even ping these two virtual IPs from Linux. CRS install fails during initial run because it cannot communicate with the two VIP IP addresses. Can anyone help me out as to how to go about fixing the two VIPs so that Linux can ping them and CRS will install?

It sounds like you configured your VIP on Linux in advance, before installing Oracle.
You are not supposed to do that.
Decide on an IP that the VIP will use with your network manager, but don't configure it in Linux. So before you start the clusterware install, ifconfig should not show your VIP.
CRS does not need VIP when you install the clusterware, only the interconnect address.
VIP is configured using a utility called VIPCA. If Clusterware installation fails and you think it was caused by VIP issues, try running VIPCA manually and let us know what were the results.

UTL_FILE works on Oracle 10 ?

The following code works on Oracle 9.1.0.2.
I would like to know if it will work on Oracle 10.

when running the forms as Client-Server (Two Tier).You cannot run Forms 10g client/server, only as a web application.
The packages still work, but you must use the CLIENT_... version from webutil if you want to call something on the client.

How to get exact match when working with Oracle Text?

I would like to know how do I get exact match when working with Oracle Text.

The above query will return 3 rows. How do I make Oracle Text to return me only the first row - which is exact match because sometimes my users need to look for exact match term.

But I would like to utilize the Oracle Text index. Don't know your db version, but if you slightly redefine your index you can achieve this (at least on my 11g instance) :

Designer will not work on express edition of the Oracle Database. You will need the Standard or the Enterprise Edition of the Database.

For database access from Java, you will use JDBC.
For the specifics of the oracle spatial database, you'll have to check the documentation/forum of Oracle.

Well, I would not necessarily consider above article a show stopper to use Ubuntu. You can turn the surveillance off. Many if not most software products call home and there seems to be a global trend to penetrate internet users with intelligent advertising and marketing. So they probably get you in one way or another. Just install a web add-on like "Ghostery" and you might be surprised.
CentOS, Scientific Linux, Oracle Linux, etc., are all free derivatives or clones of RHEL and as such will give you the exact same trouble with unsupported hardware. Fedora is the closest Linux distribution to RHEL designed for computer desktops.

In order to create and develop a webcenter portal application, you only need to install JDeveloper and download the WeBCenter extensions. That's true.
But this install does not include the WebCenter services like dicussions, document services, analytics,... If you want to use these and integrate them in your portal, then you would need to install the suite as described on my blog.
