Will Photoshop CS3 work with Intel i5 processor?

Hello all,
I'm ready to bit the bullet on a new laptop and am looking at the 15" i5 2.4 ghz with 4 gigs of ram. Will CS3 work with this processor? I'm guessing it will but want to e sure in advance. Thanks so much to all.
Cheers,

Your i5 processor is not the issue here.
Adobe revises Snow Leopard FAQ re: CS3, Flash
Adobe has posted a revised FAQ (PDF) concerning application testing & compatibility with Snow Leopard. Notably:
Q. Do Adobe Creative Suite 3 products support Mac OS X Snow Leopard (v10.6)?
A. Adobe has worked closely with Apple throughout the Snow Leopard development and testing process. Adobe has conducted its own additional testing of our Adobe CS3 software on Mac OS X Snow Leopard, and is confident that our CS3 applications will function as expected with Mac OS X Snow Leopard. Adobe did uncover some non‐critical issues, which are documented for our customers to review*.
Additionally:
The initial release of Mac OS X Snow Leopard (v10.6) includes an earlier version of Adobe Flash Player than what is currently available from Adobe. Adobe recommends all users update to the latest version of Flash Player (10.0.32.18) which supports Snow Leopard and is available for download from Adobe.com.
I don't believe there are issues with SL and CS3 at present.

  • Hi thinking of buying a new PC and upgrading to windows 8.  Will Photoshop CS3 work with windows 8

I am thinking of only going as high as Photoshop CS5 or 6.  '
I already have Photoshop CS3, and am more than satisfied with this, and would be delighted if this can be installed on a computer using windows 8
    Thank you

I heard you could only use from CS5 upwards, so didn’t know of CS 3 would work – guess it is worth a try though
    Thanks

  • Will photoshop CS5 work with Lion

I need to get a new photoshop, mine is out of date. Will Photoshop CS5 work with OS 10.7.2? Adobe doesn't include 10.7.2 in their tech specs.

I have it and it runs fine on Lion.

  • Will Photoshop CC work with Bridge CS6

    Hi
I'm about to download Photoshop CC (Windows 7). I already have Photoshop CS6 and Bridge CS6 installed. My questions is do I have to download and install Bridge CC or will Photoshop CC work ok with Bridge CS6.
    Thanks

Like versions communicate with each other with the statup scripts.  So CS6 Bridge is going to call CS6 PS when you select PS/Tools.  It has no communication link to CC.
You can open images in CC from CS6 but you will not be able to use Tools/photoshop to call up Bridge CC.

  • Will photoshop elements work with Encore or do I have to have the full Photoshop

    hi there,
I'm using Premier Pro and Encore Cs5.5. I do not create fancy menu's. At the most, I put a photo or two on a background of color and some text.
My work is on my Mac.   I have photoshop elements on a windows PC in another room. I've been going between the two machines using photoshop elements on the PC to create the menu's and then sending them over to the mac for Encore use.  Obviously, this is not optimal and I expect the PC to die any day now. Therefore, I thought I would buy Photoshop ELements for my Mac.
So, my question is "will photoshop elements" work ok on my Mac with Encore? Or, do I have to get the full blown Photoshop ? Advice?
    thanks everyone !

For what you are doing, PSElements for Mac, should be fine.
Unless it has changed recently, when working with Menus in PSE, was the inability to CREATE a Button Layer Set. You can edit them, just not create one. If you are just modifying the Library Menus, and Buttons, there should not be an issue
Now, I believe that you will still not have the full functionality of Encore and PS, where you have the option to "Edit in Photoshop," right from Encore. What this does is create a TMP file, for the Menu, that is linked back to Encore, then launches PS, and Opens that linked TMP in PS, and when editing is done, one only has to Save in PS, and those changes follow the link back to update the Menu in En. You will have a slightly different workflow, where you would launch PSE, Open the Menu and edit it, then I would do a Save_As, so as to not overwrite the original, then in En, Delete that original, and Import the Save_As file as a Menu, and use that. It would be easiest to do all of the Menu editing in PSE first, then Import those as Menus into En, and just use them, as you would a Library Menu. Remember, you need to start off with a Menu, so that you have the Button Layer Sets, as you cannot create those. A bit different workflow, and not quite as convenient as Edit in Photoshop. As I do not have PSElements to test with, check me out that Encore will not link up to PSE and offer "Edit in Photoshop Elements," but it is my understanding that it will not. I just cannot verify. Also, check the latest version of PSE (you should be able to do this on the PC, while it runs) can now create the Buttons' Layer Sets. PSE 8 could not, and I do not believe that that function has been added to PSE 9.
Good luck, and with those exceptions, PSE 9 for the Mac should be just fine. You might want to wait a month, or so, as PSE 10 and PrE 10 should be released around the end of Sept., or the beginning of Oct., if history holds true. Do not know what will be in PSE 10, but maybe Layer Set creation?

  • Will Photoshop Touch work with Lightroom?

I have read that Photoshop Touch for the iPad will work with Adobe CS5.  Will it also work with Lightroom?  Being able to easiy import photos etc.?  thanks,

    Hi Evertsa,
Sorry for the delay. There is a plug-in for Photoshop that allows you to import Photoshop Touch project files into Photoshop CS5 on a computer by transferring the file through a the Creative Cloud website (https://creative.adobe.com/) and importing with a special plug-in. If you sent out jpeg copy of a project from within PS Touch to somewhere you could import it on a computer into your Lightroom catalog that would work (via email would be the easiest), but its not natively setup to work with Lightroom.
Check out this doc that describes the workflow with Photoshop CS5.

  • Will CS4 Extended work with Intel Core 2 Duo?

Considering purchasing a CS4 Extended for my OS X v10.4.11 with Intel Core 2 Duo, but reading here I need a multicore Intel processor...
There's no way I could make it work with my processor at all?

Since it says it will run on a G5 I imagine it would run on your newer Intel Mac.  I think that's what the "Duo" means - multi core.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_Core#Core_Duo

  • FAQ: Will Photoshop Elements work with my camera, or Why won't my raw files open?

    What is a raw file?
A raw file is the unprocessed light data that was captured by your camera sensor. The only settings on your camera that apply to this file are aperture, shutter speed, and ISO. This means that any settings you may have applied to the file, such as white balance, or black and white effects, have no effect. Because this sensor data is raw, it must be processed or baked into an actual image file, that's where the Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) plug-in comes in.
    What is Adobe Camera Raw?
ACR interprets the raw data and makes image information out of it. But every camera has a unique sensor and thus has a unique form of raw file. Even though camera manufactures may use the same file extension each time (e.g. Nikon raw files are always .NEF), each camera model has a different way of storing information. Because of this, we must continually update ACR for new cameras. As we add new cameras to the list (over 300 now) we update our published list of supported cameras. Additionally, with the changes to ACR, newer releases will not always be compatible with older versions of Photoshop Elements.
So, will the my raw files work with Photoshop Elements?
So if you are wondering if your camera is supported by ACR or will work in Photoshop Elements, first check this list:
Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras
Once you know whether your camera is supported by ACR and by which version, check this list to see whether your version of Photoshop Elements supports that version of ACR or later:
    Camera Raw-compatible Adobe applications
If your version of Photoshop Elements should open raw files from your camera, make sure you have the latest version of ACR installed. Go to Help > Updates to install the latest ACR release.
You can also manually download and install ACR updates:
    Macintosh
    Windows
What if my camera is not compatible with my version of Photoshop Elements?
Supposing you have a camera that came out after the release of a newer version of Photoshop Elements, so that your version of Elements is no longer recieving updates, you have two basic options:
Purchase the latest version of Photoshop Elements that supports your camera.
Use the latest version of the free DNG Converter (for Macintosh or Windows)
You can convert your files to the universaly compatible DNG format (the files will work with any version of the Camera Raw plug-in). See In depth : Digital Negative (DNG) for more information.
Where are all of the tools and options that I've seen available in tutorial books and videos?
Photoshop Elements has fewer tools and options than it's parent Photoshop. These differences are documented here:
Adobe Camera Raw differences between Photoshop and Photoshop Elements

  • Will Photoshop CS5 work with Adobe CS 4 Design Premium Suite?

I have been debating to upgrade just the Photoshop to CS5 from my CS4 Design Premium Suite.  I still need training and skill development time with the other software in the suite, but feel pretty good with photoshop CS4 to upgrade to CS5.  Will everything still work together or do I need to upgrade the whole suite?  Thanks

The two applications will work together fine, but…
You CANNOT upgrade to a single, stand-alone application from a suite license under the terms of the EULA, which was clear when you bought the suite.  When you bought the suite, you commited to upgrading the whole suite forever.
So, unless you have a license for a full version of stand-alone Photoshop that has never been used to upgrade to anything, you are stuck with the suite.
I've never bought the suite and use very different versions of Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat and InDesign with no problem.

  • Will PS CS3 work with OS Lion?

I currently use Adobe CS3 software for my business, and have thus far avoided upgrading to Snow Leopard due to the large number of issues that seemed to be affecting people.
I was hoping to make the jump to Lion in the near future but don't want to risk it if I have to spend hours, or maybe days unpicking and patching problems. Daily PS and AI work is my bread and butter, I cannot afford to have down time.
Has anyone succesfully made the move to Lion and not had issues with Adobe CS3 software. If you have had issues, were they simple to over come? Were Apple and Adobe helpful?
If anyone could advise I would be grateful.

CS3 was the first Universal version. The base apps will launch under Lion, but some of the specific functions in CS3 rely on PPC code, which obviously won't run.
Complaints about the Colour Picker in Flash, Droplets in Photoshop, and various items in Illustrator have all been reported.
Launch the System Profiler, click on Software, Applications and sort the list by Kind. Anything listed as PPC won't run.
CS3 also requires Java, which isn't installed by default. The OS should realise and prompt you for permission to install it.
Bear in mind that Adobe have washed their hands of every version except the current one, so you'll have to bite the bullet and upgrade at some point.

  • Will Photoshop CS6 work with Snow Leopard or must I upgrade to Mountain Lion on the Mac Book Pro?

I will be purchasing PhotoShop CS6 & installing on my Mac Book Pro. Adobe tells me that I should upgrade to Mountain Lion from Snow Leopard in order for it to work best. Any thoughts on this? Thank you, Paul

You can use it on Snow Leopard without any problem. However, Apple updates graphic drivers and more things, so it could run better on Mountain Lion, but as I said, if you don't want to upgrade, keep on Snow Leopard because it will run properly.
Probably, Adobe is referring to the fact that Photoshop could be working in 32-bit because the kernel on Snow Leopard starts into 32-bit by default, and Mountain Lion is a 64-bit operating system. In this case, you will see an improvement

  • Will Adobe CS5 work with Intel HD Graphics card 3000?

I am thinking about buying this laptop. http://www.staples.com/HP-Pavilion-dv7-6163us-17.3-Laptop/product_343565
Will Adobe CS5 run on it OK?

Both of the HP laptops that you mentioned will be quite sluggish in running CS5, even compared to a cheap $400 desktop:
    1) Neither of those laptops have more than one single internal hard drive, which is already below Adobe's stated minimum requirements. Adobe requires a minimum of two discrete fast hard drives (no partitions) in order to run CS5 at all. Unfortunately, neither of those HP laptops have an eSATA port at all. (Those HP laptops have two USB 3.0 ports - but USB by itself doesn't support RAID at all.) Nor does either of those two laptops have any provision whatsoever to accommodate nore than the included internal hard drive.
    2) Based on the CPU alone, your first choice of a laptop with an i7-2630QM is better - but only if it also has an Nvidia GPU with 1GB or more. The CPU in your second choice, an i5-2410M, is only a dual-core CPU (in fact, all mobile i5's are only dual-core) - and no system (laptop or desktop) with a dual-core CPU performs as well in CS5 as even a mediocre system with a quad-core CPU.
    3) Neither of those two HP laptops come with (or is even available with) a GPU that supports MPE GPU acceleration. The first choice has only the integrated Intel HD 3000 graphics while the other comes with an onboard AMD Mobility Radeon GPU. And as we all know, both of those systems would have run CS5 only in MPE software-only mode. There is a plugin to allow CS5 to utilize the QuickSync feature of the first laptop (the second one cannot utilize QuickSync at all because it uses a discrete GPU) - but that would have speeded up only the encoding times (it would not have helped rendering times much if at all).
    4) All consumer HP systems - both laptop and desktop - come pre-loaded with a ton of bloatware that cannot be easily uninstalled (or more precisely, software whose uninstallation still leaves behind pieces of it that actually slows down system performance and/or makes it run less stably). Worse, neither laptop includes a system restore disk (all of the restore files are on a locked hard drive partition that can only be accessed by one of HP's authorized service facilities). HP will sell you a recovery/restore disk, but that will cost you an additional fee.
    5) Both of those systems come with only 6GB of RAM. In the case of laptops, 8GB is recommended if you're going to run CS5 much. Although the systems theoretically support 16GB of RAM, those two laptops have only two DIMM slots, and there are currently no compatible 8GB modules on the market.
    6) Finally, the internal hard drive spins at only 5400 RPM. Laptop hard drives, as a rule, are slower than desktop hard drives (sequential speed wise). You'd be lucky if that 750GB 5400 RPM hard drive can sustain even half the sequential speed of the slowest current-production "Green" desktop hard drive.
As a result, both of those laptops would have been slower in the PPBM5 benchmark than most (if not all) of the desktops on the PPBM5 results list.

  • Will Photoshop CS1 work with Leopard (OS 10.5.X)?

Due to budgets restraints, I cannot afford to update Adobe Photoshop. I have been using Photoshop CS1 on OS 10.4.11. If I update to OS 10.5.X, will I be able to use CS1? I cannot seem to find another source for an answer to this question so I am trying the forum. Any input would be most helpful!

It may but not reliably. All you can do is try. But backup your current system in case you find that you need to return to 10.4.x.

  • Will Photoshop CS4 work with Snow Leopard?

I just updated my MacBook to snow leopard. I also just found out that I am going to be required Photoshop CS4 on my laptop this semester for a couple of my classes. I was looking at the system requirements for CS4 and it says Mac OS X v10.4.11–10.5.4, snow leopard is 10.6.
Will CS4 be able to run on my computer?

See Adobe's official information on 10.6 here.
